What's your favorite Serato feature?!?
Flip.. I've edited entire songs.. Removed verses, extended breaks...
Keylock and yes Flip (takes a minute to learn Flip but once you get it, it is amazin) by the way, out of all tutorials, your tutorial was the one that gave me clarity into how to set it up for use with songs - thanks!
@@masterminddjs Have you ever experienced issue with flip latency/drop in audio? I have had it happen and I cant figure out if its something like a glitch when dropping a track during a playng flip (IE trying to throw a manual loop down at the beginning of where a Flip starts, don't do that it goes insane.)
@@c4meo666 I can't say that I have. Perhaps someone others may have. If you're running more than Serato on your system I imagine that could cause a latency issue since Serato uses a lot processing power, unless you are running it on a souped up system.
Record.
So many DJs have no idea about Beat Jump. It's great. I've been using it for a few years and ita a time saver and game changer.
AMEN!
i'm one of them , mind blown, lol
before I found out about beat jump, i used to set up my cue point by doing loops...man that took a long time. kinda the same but more time consuming.
Bro you are literally the best teacher ever!!!!
Thank You Nick!! I'm old school DJ that is making the transition to DVS. I appreciate all your videos brotha. You're F'N AWESOME!!
nice to see how you prepare tracks! I imagine that your prep is a huge reason you can do those epic mixes
Beat jump is also handy if you miss where you want to mix out of a song so you want to go back (repeat) the last 4, 8, or 16 beats
Bruhhhhhh ... so helpful. Thank you for spreading the knowledge. To date, I have only used my controller like two turntables and a mixer. Im finally taking the time to learn the beauty and power of these things.
I must say this had to be the most mind opener video. I got light bulbs on this one. Extremely helpful and good video. Especially when cueing up the song before the first beat of the song. No more mental counting! Lol
Awesome, thank you!
THANKS NICK !!
great video and demo of this feature. Thanks Nick!
Thanks once again Nick
Such a time saver! One of my favorite features. Its also saved a few mixes when I forgot that a chorus is a 12 bar instead of 8 lol.
This is something I have been doing for years , deff one of the best features
Amazing thank you …!!! Help me a lot
This changes everything! Uses this from now one! Nick you are awesome!
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Yes sir!!! A game changer indeed, especially for those “musical intros” salute
Ive been using beat jump to set cues for a few years now. Major time saver.
Outstanding
Great instructions 😀 👌 😄 👍
Been using it for years, definitely helps my creative flow.
🙌🏼
HUGE game changer!
I love the Denon gear in part due to they all have dedicated beat jump buttons .....use the feature often.
It's in Traktor & RB as well... I think every software has it.
Started using beat jump when I got my SRT1000. HUGE lifesaver when it comes to cueing👌🏾
Bro! I use Beat Jump all the time LIVE, if you get distracted and miss a cue, you can beat jump your way to the mix!
I Use beat jump every time I prep cues. Spot on.
I stopped setting cue points at the 4, 8 etc... because I have beat jump right there. I started setting them at vocals, toneplays and drops instead, no need to waste the first 3 cues anymore when I can easily beat jump the intros
I hear you!
I have crazy ass cue points all over the place with no method to it. I'm gonna start doing this. Another good video bro.
Shout out to the lighting today! I use beat jump but literally in reverse of what you explained lol I’m going to try this method… makes more sense then just cuing every song the same and being irritated when it’s wrong 😂
i remember when I found out about beat jump and my jaw hit the ground for real. Everything has been different ever since.
People don't understand why beat jump is great because they don't understand the consistencies of song structure and phrasing.
Feature exists in VDJ and rekordbox and they both go up to 128 beats/ 32bars max.
You can beat jump into the negative too ie -4.1 and start playing from there which gives you 4 bars of dead air
Awesome.. I was using the beat jump feature to jump ahead on redundant sounding edm songs so I can get to the 2nd chorus and transition to the next redundant sounding edm song.. I'll.definitely try doing what you did with it. Thanx
true!
Love your channel, Nick! The Bodak Yellow example you used may be misleading because the 125 bpm your beat grid marked is actually double timed, so they way it marked it for you isn't truly 4 bars/8bars etc. That song is really 62.5 bpm so you'd really have to jump twice to get the right count, especially if you're mixing another song that has a BPM in the 60-70 range. Just something I observed while watching the video. Keep the vids coming! Shout out from Dallas, TX!
Great video Nick, gotta learn how to use these features serato offers, haven’t really taken an advantage of it....
Im a beginner DJ but I'm using this feature all the time. Fortunately, my controller has hardware buttons for beatjump and it makes things easier.
If your using a DJM-S9 and you click the roll tab then click one of the outside cue buttons it will beat jump! When I figure that out I freaked out! Many of my Dj friends have no idea about this
i do this all the time, and i'll confirm VDJ will do this too.
Great-I got some work ahead of me :D
🤯
I’m so bad.
But now I’m better. 😂
Hey Nick, How are you? I hope you and your family are well and safe. What are your thoughts on Platinum Notes and Mixed in key? Worth it?
I didn't even know about the analyze files tip 🤔 I'm over here unplugging the controller to do so 😂
Very important! It sets gain structure too so all the songs are more level.
Yo bro i followed one of ur set up and f**k up my mac book pro laptop screen i went in to serato setting and I click the HI REST screen display after I connected my console and the screen back light is out ............can some one give me a heads up on what they think could be the problem..and is can the screen be fix with out replacement ???
Is there a reason you do not beat grid the tracks? I realize utilizing Beat Jump achieves the same thing for mixing but isn't beat grid required to use quantize and other effects? Thanks
Thanks Nick , I am sti trying to figure out how to store loops on certain songs 🤷
I can make a video on this.
I remember finding out about this . It was in 1999!🙄
Bro fuck yeah thanks😅
Ok..sooooo how do you use it in a mix?!
😢 lol
Good content!!
Awww man wtf... you're running out of content🤣🤣🤣 funny shit bro! I love the beat jump! Specifically I love it on the 1000srt
lol naw mad DJs don't know about this
@@NickSpinelli trippin bro... legit site saver for cueing up on the spot in a rush! I love the 1000srt has the specific button for beat jumps
Thats one of the reasons why I love Traktor!Dont need to count nothing, just overing the mouse cursor into a point of the wave and it will tell you how many bars are from the playing position to where the cursor is!
Beat jump looks cool but i just don’t have the time to beatgrid all my tracks. Quite time consuming and I don’t care much for beatgrids. Personal preference 🤷🏼♂️
My life is now changed!
yesssss
lol we the non-Serato users will let you enjoy your discovery, even tho it been long discover. Nice video tho letting other Serato users know. VDJ even get a feature to start all your songs on the first beat
Cool video bro. But you could use the grids and have the same result.
Sometimes grids are set wrongly you got to listen to the song.
@@daflipa9958 You can adjust the grids though. *Edit Grid - Then “X” button.
@nickspinelli do you not use beatgrids?
BTW. You are right. Not a Serato exclusive feature.
lmao UGH
@@NickSpinelli 😂 😂 Nick is a VDJ Nazi!! 😂 Next year do an April fools video where you pretend you’re switching to vdj! Like research about the good things that made you switch...it would be a funny ass video Nick!
Dude ....seriously ......all programs do this lol.....really? Traktor was the 1st to do this...lol
Starts the video out saying he’s not sure what other softwares can do this. Half the comments are people bitching about how virtual djs been doing this since the Atari 2600 version in 1981. And Trakkor people want to chime in too. Have fun with the 4 controllers your software works with.
Serato’s still the best bitches!
Serato DJ does not have the most basic feature that exists on every other software... ACTIVE LOOP... I wonder how people still even considering this rigid software as number one... but then the world is full of sheep that can't embrace changes.
LOL what do you mean by active loop? Like a saved loop that you can turn on so it automatically goes on when it hits that point of the song?
@@NickSpinelli I think that’s what he means, but it does that that said feature. Lovely.
You can also reshoot the loop from the very beginning .
