Nailed it! Being able to change the cue's after the flip adds a lot of other possibilities and options too! Flip also records CENSOR - Shift-U so you can make clean edits to remove words or as a remix trick.
You can also use the reverse button to edit songs into clean version songs. Just hit the censor button to reverse the curse words when they come up. Real easy! This helps if clean versions of the song doesn’t exist 👍🏽 happy New Years!
Nick, you are the fkn' SHIT. I LOVE watching your Serato Videos because I learn so much without all the unnecessary anxieties. Thank you so much for helping us get through all of this.
Flip is Cool AF. You can get super creative with it. Example perform some Tone Play save it as a Flip. Add it to you Sampler and turn on Sync on said Sample. Now you can activate/deactivate it by hitting 1 performance pad and its all in time with the track on your main Deck. Now you can lower/speed up the Tempo on your Deck and the Flip Tone play stays right on point. Literally endless possibilities man :)
I'm your fan... I can stand todo lo que haces, lastima que no sé inglés y batallo. Los mejores tutoriales y reviews están sin duda en inglés. Gracias Nick 🙌🏼
Nick - Watched this several months ago. Now use Flip for pre-setting songs for hot (quick) mixing. Great job simplifying Flip with easy to understand explanations and demos. Note: My degree is in Workforce Training/Curriculum Development. :-)
Virtual DJ can do that too nick!! Like where have you been?!?? Like did you really expect Virtual DJ not to rip off every other feature from Serato and not rip off this one?!?? All you gotta do is use your track cleaner, and install a routine pad plugin, do 10 jumping jacks, restart your computer 6 times, and then you are going to be able to do EVERYTHING Serato Flip can do within Virtual DJ, PLUS some other features that you really dont need at all that make absolutely NO sense, but we put them in there just so theres a "higher feature count" which essentially makes my program better!!!!!!
OKAY IM SOLD! awesome vid man, great sense of humour too. that flip was pretty cool for something on the fly ;) can't wait to remix songs putting different vocal parts together to create new sentences, think that will be a lot of fun
Nick, Virtual DJ can already do this without adding anything to the program, it's all there right out of the box and you don't have to pay for anything... ;)
you know what this reminds me of? D.S. Al Coda (all my band people know what I'm talking about) where essentially you play a song fully as it is in the sheet music but there's notations on the bottom that tell you where to start back up but then skip to another part of the song.
Man I havent even tried this Flip yet and they just came out with Stems mixing. Serato killing the game right now. Anxious to see what Rekordbox brings to the table.
Appreciate the video. Had used it in the past, but still learned something from it (incorporating the beat grid to ensure timing) and as usual, a great video. PEACE!
@@NickSpinelli Simply explained, thanx Nick and btw I started on VDJ when I got back in to spinning but then found Serato and haven't looked back so I'm with you 100% on that! I especially vibe with the ethos the company is founded on, Bless
Good stuff. Great tutorial. I think you forgot one of the other biggest uses for Flip. Making clean versions of those tracks that you can not find clean versions of yet. Its what I use flip mostly for.
I like how u use flip for the intro to create 8 bar intro, I just use the loop if its enought istrumental to do it but you gotta remember to turn the loop off after 8 bars so its more manual, flip automatically turns off the loop after the intro has played out which is cool too.....gotta love technology n shyt.

The one major thing I'm missing in Serato , that Traktor has, is the ability to record loops on the go and play them in sample bank. Got a Roland DJ 808 and it is such a shame NI don't have any collaboration with Roland. Previewing tracks without loading them to player would be nice too. Not to mention custom controller settings tweak with the "Learn" option where you can set up mapping on the go, as thou wilt! Ah, the good old NI days... Even had more fun with open source MIXXX on Linux, than I'm having with Serato. Just to add! I bought used controller, and the guy who sold it to me forgot the mail address on which he was logged on to on Serato, so I can't use the Flip; Pitc'n'play voucher because this voucher he gave me (on paper that came with the controller) is linked to the account he can't remember. The thing is this packet was 30$ but you can't buy it anymore. Only option for activation these features is a monthly subscription. This is my experience with Serato.
I'm a new subscriber and I've watched a few of your videos they are fun to watch and very informative. I definitely will check out flip. I'm a novice with a Hercules Inpulse 500. Been practicing on and off for about a year. Covid had me and the family kind of isolated so after watching some UA-cam on DJ's I jumped in the pool. thanks for the tips!
Great video.. I used it to edit some of mine first mixes that I had recorded.. there was some song I let rock to long. So I just clean up. Do you know it allows you to make your mixes in increments.. for example you can be rocking then your wife needs your immediate attention to change a curtain.. lol then u just do then second portion of your mix then record and edit after recording
I flipped my shit on this, now excuse me while I clean up the dining room & put the table back on its legs & apologize to the wife for flipping the table.....lol
Thanks for the Video Nick. Are you able to edit the the flip at any time (ie. tighten up the loop) or would you have to create a whole new flip? As always, must respect!
Dope video a year later after posting. I need Flip. My question is new to mac and could look it up but ill see if anyone responds. What keys were you using on the keypad for your cue points?
Checking this out again. Instead of hitting the cue button a bunch to make an intro like you did can you set a loop and hit record and let it run that loop for 4bars etc?
That is actually a pretty cool feature. I'm on Rekordbox currently with my DDJ RR, but that kind of feature is tempting. Especially if I win Rick's 1000SRT 😆 lol. Good video. 👍
You also don’t even need to use Quantize to skip a part you can pause the track and go to the part you want to skip and hit the cue point. Less pressure 🤷🏾♂️😁
Hey Nick great video as usual. So i recently got flip and I followed your steps ....everything works except it doesn't save flips permanently ....every time I finish a session when i come back the following day my flips are gone!.. any ideas?? I appreciate it in advance.
Can you use both decks to flip 1 song.....kinda like 2 versions of 1 song, or do you have to join them in 1 file, then set new cue points and create the flip that way ?
I have a question on flip ? Can you used a cue point towards the end for first start of the beat on flip ? I have a track kinda has a outro beat. I found a spot and loop it on 2 beats. Basically more like a kick drum. Not as much bassline. I tried using later time cues. Doesn't seem to work. Keeps going on early time cues. Might be a setting i dtk lol. PS no intro. Using outro for loop 2 beats to make a intro. That's my plan.
cue files on vdj are tiny so adding them too a download with the track takes up virtually no space, an 8min tracks cue file is only about 190bytes, what i would do is check the track size before and after adding the cue file in serato flip and then do the same on vdj and compare the file sizes , i bet you the serato files are larger than the vdj files
@nickspinelli thank you so much I was able to make a Flip of For Free by Drake where it leads to a tone play to (insert song here I can't give away all my secrets lol)

play count helps me weed out which version I play as I'm continuously deleting duplicates, and the bit rate for obvious reasons.
