    I’ve got the Spruce Street Bob (June 2020) Stage 1, however I went for khaki green exhaust wraps instead of the heat protectors, forward pedals, heavy breather and V&H slip-ons, Hollywood bars , after market black bobber saddle, the bike looks super 👍, it’s got that old messenger look, riding position is awesome, I’m 6ft and have happily ridden over 6 hours (plus tank stops) comfortably.
    I was getting kitted up to ride from my hometown in the South of the UK , down through France 🇫🇷 taking in the Alps and on to Italy 🇮🇹 camping along the way........unfortunately a certain pandemic put a halt to that !!!
    Here’s to many more rides , have fun !!!

    Enjoyed the video. I had the dealer install the SE Stage 3 on my 18 RGS 107. I added the SE Street Canon slips one and SE hi flow AC. I ended up with 120 TQ and 115 HP. That's plenty!

    My new streetbob has the 114 from stock! My goodness I don’t think I’ll be needing any power upgrades for awhile. The torque is insane on such a light bike. I guess my 165lb frame helps as well. Haha

    I have a Stage 2 kit with a TBR 2 into 1 with a SE Extreme Flow air cleaner, SE pro street tuner and the Torque cam. The bike really wakes up after the Stage 2, the Stage 1 doesn’t really do much but when you do the cam you can feel a difference in performance, sound and it just runs smoother than stock form. I’d love to do a Stage 3 or a 131ci drop in, but that’s a bit expensive and I don’t think I want to drop that much $$$ into the bike. I think the next things I’ll do is suspension upgrades, and hopefully in a few years to get a Road King Special, Street Glide or Road Glide for my long trips and keep the Street Bob for around town and for my girl to ride or friends if they wanted to ride with me and don’t have a bike.
    BTW, your bike sounds GREAT! 🤘🏼😎🤘🏼

    Your bike sounds Great 👍. I have a pretty new road glide but it has the 107 but I did just do a stage two with the torque cam. I added both screaming eagle tuner’s to the bike also. And man does a cam wake that motor up. But I too am probably going to wait to go any further with it until the factory warranty is out. And then I will most likely go to a zippers sleeper 117 kit. With the 468 Cam.

    What's up Ron how have you been? I'm in the process of of doing a stage 3 122 on my 23 roadglide special. But have a tuff time picking an air breather. There are two I like SE heavy breather not sure if it will get enough air. And SE heavy breather extreme which will be plenty but is open on the front I'm worried about bugs and trash going through the intake.what do you think? Thank you

    • @RonsWorkshop
      @RonsWorkshop  8 місяців тому +1

      Hey Darrin - good questions. I’ve liked my Arlen Ness monster sucker, but I think Noe I’d go with a different style that wasn’t completely exposed. I haven’t had trouble with bugs, but I did learn an important lesson about rain. ua-cam.com/video/dZuTQb2V9F0/v-deo.html
      If you go with one that has sufficient surface area you shouldn’t have a performance hit. And I’ll also say - consider Stage IV. If I had it to do over I’d seriously consider that. I love Stage IIi but I would have gotten a lot more with IV. You might also consider a non-Harley kit or build, just to see all your options. But, if you want the MoCo warranty, the SE kit is the way to go.
      Let me know what you decide!

    How does it handle on the freeways, meaning the grooves in the pavement/ cement ? Cuz the tires are thin. I heard there not good on highway. Plus the Street Bob isn't good for long trips cuz the shocks?

    • @RonsWorkshop
      @RonsWorkshop  Рік тому +1

      Hey Loco Ocho - I haven't had any issues with tires...no handling issues for me and I'm still on the factory rubber (but that's just my perception). In my opinion, the Street Bob is definitely NOT good for long trips. I haven't had issues with the shock, but there is no hiding from the wind since there is no fairing at all (especially with the ape hangers), and the fuel tank is only 3.5 gallons. But the Stage III gets her down the road with no problems :) I love the performance, even with stock Stage III, but there's a lot more available and I'm about to start unlocking that.

    • @RonsWorkshop
      @RonsWorkshop  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Harry - great question. It is not required for Stage 3. In fact, it will void the warranty if you change the head pipe. BUT - with the right tune you'd no doubt get more power if you swapped out the head pipe too. Once my warranty expires I plan to do a full exhaust swap and some other things.

    Would I get more power from my 2019 street bob stage 3 with power vision tuner could you give me an estimate

    • @RonsWorkshop
      @RonsWorkshop  4 роки тому +1

      You’d get more flexibility with Power Vision because you would not be tied to the Harley-Davidson tunes. With some other changes (like a full exhaust system for example) you’d most certainly get more power. With Power Vision you’d also have a lot more flexibility and the ability to make adjustments on the fly. I found this article that may be helpful:
      www.dynojet.com/blog/power-vision-2019-harley-davidson-support/
      I’m an enthusiast like you and I just work on my own projects, so I’m not in a position to give you an estimate.

    I have a 2020 Electra Glide Standard. I had the SE Stage 1 and Stage 2 kit with the Torque Cam all installed at the same time costing about $2200 after a $600 discount from the VIP coupons. My question is: How much will it now cost me if i were to upgrade to a SE Stage 3 kit?

    • @RonsWorkshop
      @RonsWorkshop  3 роки тому

      Hey Eddie that’s a great question. None of the parts overlap between the stage 2 and 3 kits so you’d end up needing the full stage 3 SE kit. You’d also want different slip ons and intake if you haven’t already swapped them out, and you’d have to have the SE pro street tuner too. For me all-in the stage 3 kit was around $5500 (ouch). But check with your dealer to be sure. Would you do the work or have them do it? My cost included the labor as well as intake, exhaust, and upgraded clutch springs.

      For me it’s still very practical and usable for daily travel. Most of my riding is daily commuting to work or 1-3 hour enjoyment rides. It behaves well when riding easy and it steps up to the challenge when I twist the throttle. I filled up yesterday on my way home, so I’ll calculate MPG once I get some miles on, this tank and post that here :)

    • @RonsWorkshop
      @RonsWorkshop  3 роки тому +2

      Quick update: I just calculated the MPG for the last fill-up and I ended up with 36. That was with a mix of “normal” riding for me. Some commuting, short pleasure rides, and one highway rip, and I don’t baby it. I’ll do a couple more fill-ups with different riding styles and post the full results in a follow up video. Hey Jared. - it took a little breaking in when it was new but I like it. My only complaint is that there is nothing to keep me from sliding back, so when I get on the throttle it scoots me back a little. My legs are long so it’s no big problem. I also do shorter rides, almost always less than three hours, so I haven’t spent all day on the seat. These were done by Mother Road Customs.

      Yes, the Stage 3 kit adds more across the board. With Stage III you get displacement bumped up to 114 ci, compression bumped to 11:1, the more aggressive SE8-498 cam, and you may also get more benefits based on intake and exhaust changes as well. Hey Phillip - looks like you’ve got several things available on the screamin’ eagle side:

    You're going to be shocked when you can finally put on a freer exhaust. The M8 is very pipe dependent.

      @@RonsWorkshop you will gain 10% HP & TQ roughly with just a catless head pipe, plus another 10% with a 2into1. 2into2 will limit the gains for sure. D&D 2into1 or Bassani road rage3 would be great options. I know a lot more about TC motors than M8s. My 06 Street Bob has a V&H pro pipe on it and I love it. 2into1 units look better on Street Bobs imho but I really like the look of your ride bro.

      @@RonsWorkshop u bet. Both have shown great dyno results on a setup like yours with pro retunes. If you want to keep double pipes you could consider doing a 2-1-2 setup, which would capture some of the 2into1 benefits and give you a 2 pipe exit. Fuel Moto makes a good 2-1-2 head pipe and im sure there are others. 🤘

    Labor cost?

    • @RonsWorkshop
      @RonsWorkshop  4 роки тому +2

      That's the painful part - Harley labor for the Stage III Kit is around $2300. That includes labor for the engine parts, heavier clutch springs, intake, slip-ons, and new ECU map.

      @@RonsWorkshop No unfortunately, these are repairs to a stock motor drive train and warranty covered thank goodness. My 2019 Road King has 27,000 miles on it and every 10,000 miles or so it’s been in the shop for major work. Last year the engine was completely torn down and rebuilt and this year it’s the transmission took a dive. The drivetrain on these machines is just not designed to take the intense torque these engines put out. Unfortunately for me my warranty needs to stay in place so I cannot do upgrades to my drive train due to the fact that if I have a future failure warranty will not cover it and it will be on my dime which is scary. I did however pull the stock primary chain tensioner out and replace it with a baker.

    If you own a M8 like my 2018 Fatbob, 2017 and 2019 CVOs don't waste money on Harley stage kits. The engine will blow up due to oil pump design flaws and/or plastic tappet guides. Yeah and $50k motorcycle with plastic tappet guides. Neither the dealer who installs it or H corp office will disclose this. S&S, Fueling or Zipper all make higher quality performance kits.

    • @RonsWorkshop
      @RonsWorkshop  2 роки тому

      Hey Mark - those are some good points. I will say my 2019 Street Bob is Rick solid with zero sumping issues whatsoever. But yes, I have plastic tapper guides like everyone else :(
      At least for now!
      I also agree that there are plenty of options for non-Harley upgrades that will give even better results. Live and learn. More on that in future videos.

      Had the dealer informed about the flaws I would have gladly paid extra to replace the components while the stage 3 was being installed. Instead, it blew up on the freeway. Now my 2019 CVO is an S&S 128ci with upgraded oil pump/cam set bearings, billet tappet guides, head bolts etc and Dark Horse compensator. Rock solid 149hp 155lbs torque.

      It was around $5k. A hard pill to swallow. I wanted the factory warranty so I went with it...but if I had it to do over I would likely take a different approach. Stage IV or equivalent, likely from another company, and I would probably tackle it myself. I think...
