Great video as always! This channel was a lifesaver when I was still working this stuff out, and I’m glad to see you still delving into the mid-level skills that a lot of students are lacking. Sadly, I didn’t learn much from this video, but I’m still happy to see it, because I just know it would have been a great resource when I was first trying to learn UDIMs. Good luck to all of y’all who are using these videos, you’re learning from a great teacher with these vids!
Key thing to note here that was making me have a hard time painting across multi UV tiles in Substance is that you must GROUP your meshes in Maya THEN apply a single Lambert to them. I don't know why but when I go to Substance and don't group the mesh in Maya or meshes it separates the UV tiles and doesn't let me paint seamlessly across multi udims. I hope this helps someone.
Amazing tips, Ivery helpfull! I was wondering if it wouldn’t it be « cleaner » or « better » to organize further more the udims based on the asset parts (hand, leg, head, eyes, …)? So that in painter you can « isolate » those said parts?
when i want to send this to unity , i cant apply all the maps to the mesh , i guess its about materials , but i set 10 materials in maya and in substance i see only one default material
Yes they are but not all the time. only for very specific characters or assets, usually ones that require big sizes. They are not the norm but they can be used
that was on time needed it so bad , i was struggling to use UDIMs in substance , so i went to Mari and was so hard , managed to do albedo , but was so hard thank you so much , still watching issue it is so heavy on susbtance painter udim , also one question how do i import albedo i made already on mari into substance if i want to complete it in painter as well as other maps (SSS , spec , rough ,metalic curves normal etc... ) , would be much appreciated if you answered . Thanks , cant wait for more videos :D
and again a very helpful tutorial. But how do you do it if you want to use the character in a game engine where the use of multiple udems is not supported? (e.g. I didn't manage to use multiple Udems for a character in Unity3D and had to do everything with one Udem).
Udims are not recommended for game engines as the amount of textures you generate are quite big however Unreal does allow their use if needed. They can be specially handy for things like cinematics or commercial work

Would have been good if you showed bringing it back to maya.

Hello. If i am making 4 udims by hand, does material "knows" there is Udims? Because Substance do not import model in Udims mode for some reason...
wow that was very helpfull :o
💯🤞

Sir, udims are used in gaming pipeline too?

@@Nexttut thank you sir 😊
@@Nexttut specific characters like in aaa games?
i believe the big serpent in God Of War uses some sort of UDIM workflow to cover the whole surface of the character
@@Nexttut great knowledge sir, also your udemy courses are excellent!!!

Hello. Visit Nexttut's Skill Share/Udemy page, he has a lot of tutorials there too! 😊

What's your opinion about the new baking mode in substance? Btw this character looks so good
Really cool tools I gotta say, we will explore them in the next videos but overall happy with the inclusion
Just make a hundred udim 8k for each part and you unlock the hyper-realist infinite zoom details
Sir once go for 100% discount on the course 🤭
