- Grain free, nut free and dairy free, these delicious wraps pack a massive protein punch and are strong and flexible enough to tame any filling you care to throw into them. Create them small or large. They are very pliable, so bend, fold or roll them for tacos, wraps and tortillas or just use them as a tasty sponge to mop up curries and sauces.
Lentils have been a staple of Middle Eastern and Indian cuisine for thousands of years and are one of the greatest functional foods on the planet. For vegetarians, they are an important source of nutrition and contain the highest amount of protein originating from any plant. These red lentils (which are actually orange) are an inexpensive pantry gem that stay shelf stable with goodness for years!
Best of all, this recipe is super simple. You just need to soak the lentils, blend everything together into a batter and then cook them just as you would a pancake. They have a very delicate nutty flavor and are a versatile favorite in our house.
INGREDIENTS
1 cup red lentils (uncooked)
2 cups water
½ teaspoon salt
1-2 teaspoons maple syrup (or honey)
½ teaspoon of garam masala
Coconut oil or ghee for cooking (optional)
Method can be found here:

So cool thank you for sharing that. Where is Tamil?

😀✌🏽 tnx for sharing y’all. I’m going to make it today, dont have Gara masala, but I’m gonna try with masala
Thank you for the video .We have been cultivating lentils since centries we never thought it would be used to make such a healthy bread .
Best regards from Marrakesh Morocco
Thank you : ))
I am from the United States Indiana and this is only recently I have heard of this. As of leaving this comment I made my first two pieces of lentil bread. Needless to say the second one came out far better than the first one lol. Food is a universal bring her together.
Wow I love this am going to try it, yummy 😋😊😇 thank you for that yummy yummy God bless you 🙏🙏🇹🇹🇹🇹
It's our pleasure, we hop you enjoy it 😊
great recipe but please, tone down the music
Noted!
I enjoyed the music 😃
The music wasn't a problem at all
Musics like that are painful indeed.
I loved the music.
Thank you for sharing 😊👍🏻
Our pleasure 😊
I tried a lentil wrap in London a few years back. It was absolutely delicious. This is such a fantastic option if you want to face out bread or traditional wraps.
Hi there, thanks for your great comment : ))
@@luvelelife cheers, mate
What do they taste like? Beans
@@abrokenandacontriteheart1308 lol yeah, it tastes like red lentils, but it has a very delicate nutty flavor as well. Try it, and you will be pleasantly surprised.
Making it right now! Nice recipe!
Awesome! Thank you!
GAY-RUM MAY-SALA 😁🔥 nice accent you have there
Excellent ✨🕊️
Thank you 🙌
I have been using this recipe for 3 month till now & I really love it , but can you help me to know its nutrition facts ?
I am glad to hear that. Sorry we do not have the nutritional break down of this recipe.
They look delicious! I'm keen to try them tomorrow for lunch :)
Thanks! They really are delicious :)
Thanks, it is a easy recipe. I love it !
Glad you like it : ))
Excellent video! Definitely trying this today. I already soaked my lentils. I’m going to go with scallions, bay leaf, thyme and garlic in place of masala. Thanks for the great, healthy and super easy recipe. Oh and I soak all beans, legumes in a bit of baking soda to help with the phylates/phytic acid.
Peace🦋
Hi there, thanks for sharing, we would love to hear how they turned out with these ingredients and what you thought of the taste : ))
@@luvelelife I went with all the above ingredients but I took out the bay leaf and used scallions, one small clove of garlic and Italian dried herbs. They came out stupendously!
Back to the soaking. I meant to add that after soaking I rinsed them then add new water and I added probably another 1/4 cup of water because once the batter sits it thickens up and you can still get great crepes as a result. This is not always the case with wheat flour. Each one was perfect every time. I used my cast iron crepe pans by the way which are well seasoned.
Thanks again for the great recipe and thanks for your reply!
@@tagereapple213 so once you soaked the lentils you rinsed them and then added 1/4 cup of water to the soaked lentils before blending with your other bits yeah? I would prefer to rinse my lentils too so I want to check before I try xx
Agree with you best to soak and then rinse well all legumes before eating , more importantly if you are eating daily. This is a fine video recipe, there are other vids out there that do not recommend using the soaking liquid. So that’s easy to adjust with this recipe. I found that after a bit I needed to add more water for the thinner consistency as they kept absorbing water. They were delicious.
Greetings: King, can I use brown lentils as well? Thank you so much. 👆🏾💫🎼
Yes, absolutely
@@luvelelife Thank you 😊. Stay healthy everyday..🌿💚👑
I like that your batter isn't too thick that produces a light (non stodgy?) wrap. I'm off to soak some lentils.
I put bacon and cheese in mine. Totally delish with mayo and a hot sausage.
Cannot wait!
That sounds amazing, yum!
It didn't work for me. May be I need to buy the same lintel, pan and mixer to follow it exactly.
Hi, yeah we would recommend to follow the recipe, let use know if you try it again : ))
Needed to add more water.
3 hours soaking
I’ve tried these 3 times. The first wrap always comes out by after 4 minutes and trying to star he second one, he beater get on thick and doesn’t spread around in pan. So I add a little more water then none of them work because it’s too soft.
I did use green lentils so I’m not sure if that’s why. I’m so sad because I really wanted these to work. I need a hi fiber, no gluten organic tortilla. Any suggestions? 🙏🏼💕
Thanks for your feedback. It may be the lentils you used, but we have had others use green lentils successfully. Maybe give the mixture a quick blend before you make each wrap to mix the ingredients thoroughly each time you make one. This might help.
Is it possible to freeze them ? Looks 👍 great 😊
Hi there, glad you like it, yes, you can freeze them for up to 6 months.
I can't get it rite
These are delicious with the spices...but the puree needs to ferment overnight with fenugreek, the way dosa is made, to reduce antinutrients & make it easily digestible.
Thanks for your comment and suggestion, we'll be sure to give this a try.
Why is maple syrup added is it for taste?
Hi there, yeah for taste, it adds a sweet balance, works really well : ))
the guy at the end looks like steven seagal.
haha, good call!
I tried making that today. Unfortunetly it did not work out. The dough did not hold its shape. I ended up not with a coherent wrap but something that looked like scrammbled eggs. It was impossible to get a wrap out of it. i did everything according to the recipe... i still ate it and i have to say that the endresult was delicuous ! It really is so good... but unfortunetly i had to eat it like scrambled eggs unstead of a wrap
Hi Maria, thanks for your feedback. It is very important to use a good quality non-stick pan or a very well season pan. Also, very hot pan is important as well. Because the recipe does not have eggs, it can tend to stick if not.
I tried the same thing with two different pan ... forget it ...
@@luvelelife can I use a skillet?
Sprout them and they are more digestible
How, pls?
I’m no expert but I’d imagine be great for diabetes control too?
New subscriber! My son follows the SCD diet for Chrons disease. Thank you for the recipe!
Hi there, you are more than welcome, I hope he enjoys them :))
These are DOSAS! Indian food. But great video.
Thanks for the feedback :))
Or at least heavely inspired by dosas
@@SingingSealRiana it is close, yes? Dosas have 1/2 rice , 1/2 lentils and they're fermented overnight, yes?
I like to dip the pancakes in my tea yes I am weird eat then plain but soaked in black tea or a drizzle with honey and cinnnamon on top quit tip if you add 1 cup of water instead of two they are thicker and resemble pancakes not wraps and are more filling
thanks for the feedback ;))
If I want to make 2 warps or 3 how many grams of lentils should I use?
Hi there, this recipe will make about 8 wraps. We would suggest to make the full recipe and then you can store any left over batter in the fridge to use another day. It would not work to make batter for only 2 wraps.
Do they have to be made with orange lentils?? I have brown lentils and they burned when I tried making themLOL also GREAT VIDEO ❤❤
We use this with spices to make pholurie. I have some saving to make doubles but I will give this a try. Mine has cumin seed and a host of other things tumeric powder, zatar, sumac 😀. I'm not a chef, I'm just a mad cook 🤣. Never have I used a recipe 🤦. This will cut out the deep fat frying.
Thanks for sharing, that sounds very creative ; ))
Hi sounds like a Trini, let me know how the doubles comes out
Could I add oat flour to make fluffy?
Oh you just put it in the pan, it looks like a crepe.
Does it taste like beans? What would you say it tastes like?
Hi, we have not tried oat flour, I am not sure this would work with this recipe. It has a great taste, you'll have to try it ; ))
Can you rinse after a night of soaking and than add 2 cups of water?
Hi there, yes, that should work fine. if you do try this let us know how it turns out : ))
DILF
Can i do this with any lentils or doe sit have to be red
Hi there, we have not tried it with other lentils, but if you do let us know the results : ))
@@luvelelife thank you! Will do
Can you tell me if you can store the bather in the fridge or is it better to cook them all n put the wrap in the fridge please?
Hi there, you could store the batter in the fridge for approx 24 hours, but its best to cook them all at once and store the cook wraps in an airtight container in the fridge, they will last for approx 5 days.
It takes more than two minutes if you want the best flavour.
I made this tonight. I have started on my keto diet in the last few days and I love those wraps. I have tried other wraps and they were too eggy. This one is my fav so far. Thank you for sharing this recipe
Wonderful!
I add _nothing_ to my mix. That makes it flavour neutral. That way I can add a sweet or a savoury topping.
Great idea!
I think you meant Dosa
used a non-stick pan and it completely stuck and failed haha
Ah, sorry to hear that, you will need a very hot pan and some oil. We found the first wrap cooked was the hardest and then it gets easier on the next one.
Is the syrup really needed? I am not a fan... don't want to heat honey so there are not much choices for me... :/ does it still stick together without any of it? Thank you !
Hi there, thanks for your question. Yes, you can leave out the maple syrup, this is simply added for flavor.
Que maravilla!!!! Intentaré hacerla .
Genial, cuéntanos cómo te va
Will this batter also work for fermenting overnight? I like that mild edgy flavor of the fermentation. Thank you.
Hi there, we have not tried this. If you do let us know how it turns out.
Love this, will try,how long does it keep in the fridge for? If I want to meals plan for the whole week
That's great to hear, they should be stores in an airtight container in the fridge and should last for approx 5 days. If you use our vacuum containers they will last longer : ))
... Nice recipe, please lose the music...🙏
Ok, thank you
Great recipe, I've never had lentil wraps but I am definetly going to try this. Is it possible to substitute the Maple Syrup? If yes, with what?
Thanks for your message, glad you like it. The maple syrup helps to give this recipe a really great taste. We have not tried an alternative, but maybe honey will work. If you do try this let us know : ))
@@luvelelife Thanks for the reply, I'll give it a go with honey and report how it turns out!
You could just leave it out .
@@emh8861 I've tried that but what I'm getting is a sticky mess. Do you have any tips/alternative recipes I could try out?
Would go well with lentil hummus as a dip
Great idea, yum : ))
Can you replace the maple syrup with something else?
Hi there, a few community members have left out the maple syrup and the recipe will work. But adding the maple syrup does give the wraps a really great taste and balance.
Very nice, will try to mace the wraps. Thank you😋
Most welcome 😊
OMG, I was trying to find Grainless tortilla , wrap, bread option and couldn't find anything until I came across your video. Grat job on Thumbnail that caught my attention. Being an India, I have pretty much every kind of lentils in my pantry and it's a staple with Indian diet. Thank you Thank you Thank you so much. Many blessings :)
You are so welcome!
I’m going to try this today!
Great, we would love to hear how you go.
hi, can i use a little olive oil instead of the maple syrup ...will they still come out soft ....thank you so much !!
Hi there, thanks for your question. Yes can leave the maple syrup out, however, it will change the flavor substantially.
Why syrup? unless they’re for dessert.
Hi there, only a little maple syrup is added, it adds to the flavor and does not make it sweet.
Sugar and salt often are added in tiny amounts into dishes where you usualy would use the other one, because both enhance/enrich flavor, maple syrup also has a very nice favor beside that. You can leave it out if you are cutting sugar, they will taste flattern, but it realy is up to your preference
i still coat the wraps with hummus or guacamole very yummy
Sounds perfect, yum!
Guacamole! I never thought of that! Thank you for sharing
How can I do it without a blender? I'd really love to try it!
Hi there, unfortunately this would be hard to do without a blender.
Does the it have e to be the red ones?
Hi there, we have not tried other lentils, but I am sure they would work just as well. If you do try this let us know what you think.
@@luvelelife thanks for the quick responses… will do ☺️
Damnn thats so nice I love it! 😍 i would not have the patience and flip it too early and it’s turn into a hot mess lol!!
Hi there, nice to hear from you, yeah it can take a little practice to get the flipping right, but dont give up, I am sure you will master is : ))
Cooked mine, but the inside keeps becoming uncooked but crispy outside
Hi there, maybe try adding less mixture to the pan so the wrap is thinner when you cook it.
No need for the oil if you have a good nonstick pan or skillet.
Thanks for the comment. It is a sticky batter, so we found that we had to use a little oil.
Hi. Can you dehydrate this recipe?
That's a great question. We have not tried to Dehydrating this, if you do try it, we would love to hear how it turns out.
How many wraps does this make? 😊
Hi there, good question, this batch will make approx 6-8 medium sized warps : ))
oh thank you very much interesting 👍👍👍beck to the diet 😄😄😄
Can this be done with any other kind of lentil. Tried with green lentil and it came out l looking like mashed potatoes
Just wondering for how long can I keep these??
Hi there, the wraps can be stacked and stored air-tight in the fridge for up to 5 days or frozen for up to 6 months.
Very easy n simple. Thanks for the video!,
You are welcome!
Can i not include the honey or maple syrup?
Yes of course, but it will affect the overall taste of the recipe.
Cant wait to try this.. question how long can this batter stay in the refrigerator before going bad?
Thanks for your question, we recommend to use it within 3 days : ))
Wow ! Who knew !
Mine turn into dough after I cooked the first!😠
Sorry to hear that : ((
how many does this make? and how many calories each?
Hi there, thanks for your questions. We do not have a calorie count on this recipe. It will make between 6 to 8 warps depending on the size.
I look forward to trying this recipe. thanks for sharing it :)
Its our pleasure, Hope you enjoy it : ))
it didn't work tried with two different pans ..
Hi there, thanks for your message. You will need to use a good quality non-stick pan or a very well seasoned pan for this recipe. Also, make sure the pan it nice and hot before you add the batter.
Thankyou nice to see how it’s made you wrapped it up well Lol
You’re welcome 😊
What level of heat do you use?

I just subscribed thank you 😊

Can I use smoked geera instead of garam masala?
Hi there, we have not tried this, but you could. If you do, we would love to know how it tastes : ))

You are so welcome!
Can I use honey as a substitute for d maple syrup?
Hi there, yes this should work fine, we have not tried honey, if you do, we would love to hear how they turn out : ))
This is keto, but not paleo. Lentils are legumes and are not in the paleo diet.
👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you for the video. Do you rinse the lentils first before you soak them? Do you know if this will cook okay on a non-stick pan without the oil?
Hi there, thanks for your comment. Yes, we recommend giving the lentils a quick rinse before soaking them. We found that adding some oil to our non-stick pan was necessary for the wraps not to stick.
Luvele Life Thank you for your response. One more question, I am planning on soaking the lentils overnight. Can I leave it on the counter or should it be refrigerated while soaking?
@@dinamariea61 Welcome! Leaving in on the counter overnight will be fine.
