Today I take my 800-HP Mazda 3-rotor engine out of my wrecked supercar to put in my Ferrari, and it revealed an issue that I can't fix. At least not easily.

The energy absorbed by that chassis has warped the entire structure. Aluminum memory is not the problem. It is the strength loss of the material once it is bent and corrected. Salvage the reusable components from the SLC and scrap the remainder. The F355 is a tremendous amount of work. Put your time there.
Aluminum works hardens very easily. Better off to cut the part out and replace it with new.
I would think buying an SLC kit and just building it from scratch would take less time, be less headache, wind up with a better car, and generate more interesting content.
@@jakeprewitt3009 But then........where is the story in that??
@@jakeprewitt3009 : exactly right
Just focus on the swap and forget this ball of crushed billet.
@@Oldsmobile69 worst idea ever
Merc Zuckerborg fixing fram damage is one of the hardest things to do and can get super expensive its just not worth it
*Call one of the big laser frame alignment companies and ask them to do a demo with you. Aluminum tricky and doesn't just unfold like steel, but possible. Alternatively there is a master Japanese guy in LA hand building aluminum supercar replicas. He hates publicity but he could fix this in a 48 hrs if it had all suspension etc removed.*
@Merc Zuckerborg fire damage, not actual crash, and its steel.
@@Oldsmobile69 hahaha, right?
as a general auto repair technician myself, id recommend letting the kit car go, its done from a safety and logical standpoint.
@@beefchillingham6790 i run a family owned auto body/auto repair shop, its my job to fix the problems you high schooler lube jobers create.
@@torealintillimdielopz1077 Quiet, Snowflake.
I would save everything that is still fine and Frankenstein it all into something crazy.
Recycle that trashed superlite take the power plant and put it in the Ferrari
Chop the 4 corners off of the superlite and use the tub for a simulator.
Seth Coleman lmao good idea
As cool as the SLC sounded, I think everyone wants to see you go full-steam ahead onto the Ferrari project.
Rotorrari!!!
802 Garage Triple Rotorrai
He can get a new slc rolling chassi for about the price of a new supra. He obviously had an idea for the drive train for it. I think he should go that route.
Toasty?
Absolutely
I'd say postpone the SLCountach, and start on the ferrari f355 carbonella.
yeess pleasee
Italiano? Carbonella is too much italian
Hell yeah!I'm with you on that!
YES!!
Carbonella 🤣
Last I knew Fran wouldn't sell a chassis by its self. Even if Fran would, with the amount of damage I can see just from the vid you would be better of with a new kit than trying to rebuild this one. Trying to make this one safe would be futile.
Throw this thing away. They whole structure is fked.
Having built one myself, this damage might just be too much to save, frankly.
You guys that are bitching about the rear frame setup that's all components those can just be replaced the tub is fuckef and that might be some serious work to straighten out. But worst-case you strip the inside cut that out and weld the whole new plate in. big deal all it takes is time!
christopher krause I totally agree this could be saved I have seen worse cars that was crushed basically and been saved so the answer is it can be saved just like you say just a lot of time and hours in this but will be totally worth it 😄
This thing is scrap metal.. sure you could cut out everything that is damaged and replace it which is most of the car but at that point wouldn't it be cheaper and easier to just make another one from scratch? Or another option that actually makes sense imo is finish one of the other projects
That frame is toast. I hope we’re alle clear on that. Save as many parts and components as you can but please for the sake of everyone’s good health do not try to rebuild that thing.
With this type of work, the most important thing is to know when to cut your losses...
Scrap it.
Don't really have frames, they have a center tub with sub frame type things attached to the front and rear! This isn't 60's tech....
It's square aluminum tubing LOL. Do you realize race trucks in NASCAR are rebuilt several times with way worse damage? The way they're designed is to be wrecked and rebuilt.
It’s a mono-cockpit with tube style framing. Drift, time attack, nascar, f1, f3, monster trucks, funny cars, jet cars, all use tubing style framework for faster efficient repairs. For as much as a slc cost I’d buy the 2500$ in parts and rebuild. It makes absolutely zero sense in why this is a write off. It isn’t a regular ole Honda street car with Parallel running square steel frame front to back.
Re: damaged car .... Let it go. I wouldn't trust that even if it was repaired well.
Tavarish: "It's bent, it's bad"

Remove all the steel and clean up all that aluminum and you'll make a killing at the scrappers. RIPieces little Superlite.
@@hannestelwin9716 did u see how fuck the frame was the only way that he keeps the car is by buying a new monocock for the car athere wise this will stay as a.shell car like most of the henesys cars😛
Scrap aluminum prices are shite...
@@mrbikeman On this video I saw a comment that said sell the sraps and buy a new frame whoever wrote that he is still lives in the 80 when srap actual worth something😂😂
100$ is not worth lol
@niftertube when we purchase materials from other countries it's not because we don't have it its because we would rather use another countries resources and keep ours for the fut6when its harder to find certain materials
Seriously, separate the steel from the aluminum and recycle it. That thing can't be made safe without replacing the entire thing.
esqueue would still make a Great Wall hanger instead of scrap.
It can be, anything really can be... with a lot of time, money and effort.
I love the sped up bits where you see Jared doing a million things and you're always stuck for ages on one bit 😄
I love Jared, such a humble respectful guy. Respect, Jared. And Freddie ofc, love you too man. Merry Xmas from the UK, guys.
Sell the good parts and focus on the Ferrari. Forget about the kitcar
Or just keep it and finish the old projects which is what most of us subscribed for way back
Talking of old projects, what happened to Earl Leaker?
@@ravisaleh didn't he scrap it to buy a better one

Tavarish in the AM???? I can get use to this! 👍🏼🍩☕
I couldn’t agree with you more.
I think the fact that your still doing the blurry, zoom in thing to change angles even after having 1.03M subscribers is testament to how great your content is. Love the video!
Merry Christmas Freddie! and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
From the creators of “flextape cant fix that”.... “Tavarish cant fix that” xD
Freddy can't be a Warranty on that one I'm afraid....
I can hear Rob Dahms heavy breathing already. Respect for the rotary. :)
I AM SO HAPPY when i find so cool storys that already got so far and i donthave to wait too long until the cool stuff happened haha
Great project. you guys living/working the dream
Whatever you decide to do, I’ll be here watching and supporting you !
Tavarish had to find a rotary diamond in the riff raff, so he Went to Jared.😂
Write it off, and go on to the next project.
You are very knowledgeable and my dad is a mechanic and watching your videos give me good tips on what to use in my car
I am enjoying your new side kick. very personable on screen. keep up the good work guys!
honestly, take it apart and scrap the aluminum to recover some of your losses.
It would make a good wall hanger in someone’s shop.
Aluminum is less than 50 cents per pound... once everything worth keeping is stripped, how much is really there to be recovered? Not too much...
supafrancis that’s why I thought it would be worth more sold as a wall hanger.
“Where do the Doritos go?”
Brad Bozarth they go round and round inside dipping in the oil
Sed Hendo I know bro, Freddy said that in the video and I thought it was funny.

3 Doritos are better than 2
Good info on the parts under tension guys!
Call Mike from Angel Motorsports he’s in Florida right now call him to rebuild the 20B && you’ll never need another rebuild in years!
Just trash that tub. I appreciate all you do but I was really never all about that build anyway.
The slow zoom in and out during the time lapse was a nice touch.

Ofcourse I subscribe!
That SLC's crash structures, and tub served their purpose; they protected the occupant. Impressed by RCR's design work.
Call Oscar from B is for build and have him fix it 😂🤷♂️
Ha its funny because b is for build would just shim everything into alignment
Hell Yeah! That guy is Magic!

Oscar could fix it. He worked on this kind of material I believe for Chris

Thanks for the how to on Mazda rotor seal inspection .

Cool, it’s shocking to have seen that frame from the bottom😳Thx, really enjoyed the video
You guys are a great team.
Give that car to B is for Build and Oscar will fix it 😂
I was just thinking the same thing! He worked magic on the Huracan.
Great idea.
I couldn’t even watch this video because I was going to cry.
Hey Tavarish, if you do want to do a kit car build, you should buy slc kit sesto elemento. They were used in need for speed and they don’t look too damaged.
Just saw the murci going south on 75 near lake city! Made my Tampa to Atlanta trip!
Scrap the SLC. Save what you can and recycle the rest.
hi Tavarish i'm french i watch a video of ''rx7 specialities'' and i think i see your car the name of the video is ''REC 3 Rotor SLC Race Car On Track With Mazda Factory 4 Rotor
''
Wrench Everyday + Build it Better = Wrench it Better Everyday! Good luck Tavarish, excited to see where this goes.
I had a Mazda rotary pickup way back in 1976. Put a Racing Beat intake and Holly carb on it along with their recommended headers. It was noisy, fast and could not pass a gas station without pulling hard to the left or right. Rotor tip seals went south just as I was getting ready to move half way across the country. So I bought a German made Mustang V6 engine and transmission oy a yard and a swap kit from some guy in San Diego. Had a flat bed carry it to the muffler shop and waited while they did the job. Drove it home, hooked wp my trailer and hit the interstate. Kept the truck for another four years it layed down one day on my way to work and I had to shoot it. Rotor tip seals were a big problem early on but I am sure that problem has been solved.
The 2nd wreck that car gets into, if you choose to accept this mission is going to kill someone
I laughed out loud when Jared commented that he hoped his wife would like him a bit more than Tavarish. You guys are fun to watch. Regarding the wrecked frame: I would put it on ice, not really interested myself, much, much, MUCH more interested to see the Ferrotor coming to life!
Ferrotor best name ever
Madd respect to your creation but Ferrotary might work as well...
11:28 that r8 looks soo cleaaaaaannnn 🥰
My favorite car with my favorite engine! Too bad my VA disability would never give me enough to build one. I will live vicariously though you tavarish.
The exhaust or muffler is in the shape of a rotor. Just noticed that.
That was mentioned in the very first video.
And the oil filler cap.
I’ve had the pleasure of meeting the old owner of that car. He was a great guy I’ve purchased a autoclutch from him and he even showed me everything about that process. I’m shocked by how small the world really is.
Let the SLC go unless, like you said, they can send you essentially a whole new tub. I love the three rotor idea (it took some time to come to terms with this) and would like to see how it goes together in the Ferrari.
This is the first build car channel i actually like

Nice touch with the exhaust in the shape of a rotor. 😀
Bin the shell part and scrap, focus on the 3 rotor swap SO SICK
First, even tho I should be asleep it's almost 1 in the morning
goodmorn from the promise lands
It's evening in India!
Its 2 in the afternoon in the UK
Lol in croaita is 3 in the afternoon
3pm, europe 😂
Weld it back together, strip it down and make a gocart
Ferrari time! great job as always!
For the SLC partner up with Vtuned/Rather be welding and repair the tub/Frame. “You will most probably need directed heat on the bottom of the tub where it’s warped to make it Malleable.” Or buy sheet aluminum as thick as the lower tub, cut it to shape, and weld the rest of the frame to it.
Tavarish: I can't fix this frame
Chris (bisforbuild): hold my beer
Pretty sure “v-tuned” can fab up and repair this Frame damage easily🤔
Hope SLC comes through and helps out. I love their products
I'd enjoy seeing what you could do with the platform if you can source a new tub.
Please try to fix the slc, I loved the idea of that project
In other words he need us to bother the maker of the car to help him get what he wants
Bitter sweet, really like the SLC and want to see you rebuild, as I would like to build one one day, but really not into the Lamborghini front.
Hi Tavarish . I'd like to see both cars done , and the 3 rotor with a big 106 turbo
Send it to Vtuned, he'll fix all that frame damage in a 15min video!
Was just about to write that =P
Aluminum gets crumbly when you try to straighten it back. The next accident you'll be in a soda can caving in around you. Part out what you can and scrap the rest save yourselves the nightmare.
Bromance power!😂
Sad for the car but it seems to be trash...
Ouch! I won't lie, after seeing this on video, I do think the SLC is beyond fixing. Basically need a new car. I'm not a naysayer either, you know that. But basically need a new tub and the entire rear chassis rebuilt. At that point it's basically a new car. So hopefully SLC will support you, but if not, buying another car would make more sense. Best of luck and awesome progress!
I’m interested to know how the new engine will be wired to the Ferrari. Do you plan on using the factory instruments etc? Will you need to fabricate a wire harness adapter? I don’t mean the mechanical fitment that can be done with good machining and fab work. But I’m curious to see how the ecu and other electrical components will be connected
