Hey Fred 8:48 the oil leak shown there is 90% likely to be the Axle seal in the PTU (known issue from factory). When I rebuilt my block I replaced the seals with the updated version and I've been leak free for 15.000 miles already. The one you need for the PTU is CN1Z-7H424-B
as a prior Focus RS owner, that oil leak likely is not the banjo fitting for the turbo. the real issue is probably a front cover leak from an improper headgasket replacement job done by the dealer. definitely try the crush washers first but if it leaks again its a front cover leak.

I test drive it and loved the powertrain, the exterior, and even the interior wasn’t that bad (expect for the seats being INSANELY narrow, which only fits dudes who can fit into a Hugo Boss suit, which I cannot). The thing that made it an absolute “no go” for me was the suspension. It was the stiffest suspension I’ve ever felt. Not good for the beat up streets of Detroit. I went with a Golf R with a manual and never looked back.
They are an awesome car for daily driving, I did 120k miles in mine until sadly the engine decided to start missing and steaming, so be prepared for a rebuild at some point
I still own my 2017 RS from new and it has never skipped a beat. Love this car. With how expensive cost of living is nowadays, I sometimes think of selling it.. but it was my first car purchase at the time and its special to me
Don’t do it. If you do, you’ll likely join the rest of the previous owners online in your long regret posts. Keep it, it’ll be worth something in the future so long as you keep it relatively stock and properly maintained.
@@RSURRECTED absolutely brother. I love my RS and they are already going up in value. Even with that being said I don’t ever plan on selling mine. I want to be old still hauling ass in a fast 6 speed manual.
Ford made some real rs cars ie the Sierra rs cosworth and the escort rs cosworth the only focus rs that is any good is the 3 door mk2 the five door focus rs is completely missing the point and it’s got the worst engine a eco boom which is guaranteed to blow up
I had 17 Stealth Grey Focus RS when I lived in Alaska, I loved it. It was such a blast to load the homies up and rip around in the snow. I daily drove it the whole time I owned it and it was a great car. I also had a borla exhaust on mine and I think they are the best. Get a drift stick from ford, they make the car just that much more fun in drift mode too. I did the matching accents too its such a nice looking setup.
I did worked in Lommel prouving ground where the rs has been designed and tested. The first 2 where st models with the rs modifications. The exhaust sound is just software modifications.
I got the borla attak for mine. I found out after buying it they do make the active exhaust for them you just swap out the drivers side pipe coming out of the muffler.
I sold my nitrous blue Focus RS 3 years ago to free up some cash while my wife went back to school and the prices were inflated. I loved that car! I own an R35 GT-R now and I'm strongly contemplating getting another one as a daily now that the prices are getting a little better, maybe even a salvage one on copart as I could see myself keeping it forever this time. Enjoy it!!
I can honestly say I've never been jealous of Tavarish, or wanted any of his cars. I can't say that anymore. I want this car. This is a cool goddamn car.
Love that you have a Focus Rs! I have a 2016 Focus RS with 141.3k miles on it! And funny thing is my exhaust is actually broke off past the Rear diff from when i worked at a Iron ore strip mine. Been running 0 Muffler for like 2 years haha XD. Hope you get alot of fun out of this car!
High flow cats makes a world difference on back pressure, giving it a deeper Throatier sound! You'll definitely fill the hp power different's they work very well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The RS doesn't actually make more noise in sport mode. That mode only modifies the throttle mapping. You can adjust the bumper to hood gap easily with just loosening the screws on top of the bumper. A common leak on all Ford's is the axle to differential seal. Also Ford refers to the differentials as PTU and RDU for some reason. If you want to add just that little more to it, you can add an LSD to it. The 2018 was the only year that it came on it new. Qualf makes it. The Motocraft FL400S oil filter is commonly used on the RS because it is longer than the OE size, so people can fit more oil and have more filter media surface area. It doesn't mean the car was taken care of better. Ford Performance also makes a nice carbon fiber shift knob. The 2018 also came with carbon fiber interior trim. To turn off traction control hold it in. Also, the rear seat bottoms pull up so that you can fold the backs down flat. I'm a bit of an RS expert. I went to the RS Adrenaline Academy and asked the Ford Engineer a lot of questions.
Is that stradmans old one lol 😂 love the focus RS has to be 1 of my favourite cars even if I was a millionaire I'd still have to have one it's nasty machine fair play Freddie ,you've been staying in the UK to long you'll be a football hooligan soon 😂😂😂
You guys gonna do some Rallycross together?! Two rally legends in the same garage (homologation versions obv but still lol) That drive shaft on the RS is so tiny! Seems super thin even for AWD, but im no expert. The white wheels look amazing! White on blue is awesome, i like 5 spoke but the ones you have are classic also
I had the borla atak exhaust on mine. It’s valved and is the exact same as the ford performance exhaust. Only difference is the ford performance logo instead of borla on the muffler.
Awesome car dude. You had the white stripe on the car and all I could see was the black on the wing. I was about to comment when I saw Wrex, "sorry dude not sure how to spell your name" scraping it off. Next Build has to be Wrex's dream build. You owe him.
Nice car. You mentioned at about 3:30 it's an ST2 trim package, but that would be RS2, which would be more equivalent to the ST3 trim for the ST Focus. Hope you've resolved the oil leak, I would not be surprised to hear that that is from an unsealed head/block clearance near the timing chain cover, it's a very common issue after having TSB 17B32 performed on these. Sadly, if that is the issue, the only way to really fix it for good is to remove the head and reinstall it properly. Some have tried just cleaning out that gap the best they can and packing sealant in there, but it seems to be hit and miss if it holds up. I was looking really close at the Ford Performance exhaust for mine, but a deal on the ETS Titanium dual exit with mufflers and resonator popped up and I could not resist, it's so much lighter than OE and a really good sound with no drone. On suspension I'm torn between the kit you got and the full DSC package with the controller. KW would be the money kept in my pocket option though.
Gonna have a fan girl moment. I bought the same exhaust for my car a year ago and have yet to fit it. Will be doing that this weekend after seeing this video lol. Can’t wait to see how much you enjoy the focus. I wanna see you out a drift stick in it!

The thing that made it an absolute “no go” for me was the suspension. It was the stiffest suspension I’ve ever felt. Not good for the beat up streets of Detroit. I went with a Golf R with a manual and never looked back.
I have a ST myself, and there’s a world of difference. Much more compliant (and yes I live in the Detroit area as well…)
Buy Brioni suits. Made for the bigger richer fellows.
Borla is the way to go! Big fan of the changes you made to the car, looks excellent
They are an awesome car for daily driving, I did 120k miles in mine until sadly the engine decided to start missing and steaming, so be prepared for a rebuild at some point
nah, he's more than OK with rebuilding haha
because....... Ford.
@@MarkFritscher thanks Mark, appreciate the feedback 🫡
@@RSURRECTED absolutely brother. I love my RS and they are already going up in value. Even with that being said I don’t ever plan on selling mine. I want to be old still hauling ass in a fast 6 speed manual.
having Friends like that is so cool u can do projects like that with a couple buddies love it man keep up the work
All changes are upgrades. Looks really good. Personally I would've done the side mirrors in white as well, but as a total package it looks amazing 👌🏻
white mirrors hell no this isnt need for speed underground 1
@reniervandermerwe I think white mirrors would look better than the matte black. Or carbon mirrors. I just cant stand matte black, not my cup of tea.
Ooo, just found this extra channel, more to consume, love it!!!
Welcome to the RS club! Still love mine after around 5 years. Autocross monster with some stickier, wider tires.
Ford made some real rs cars ie the Sierra rs cosworth and the escort rs cosworth the only focus rs that is any good is the 3 door mk2 the five door focus rs is completely missing the point and it’s got the worst engine a eco boom which is guaranteed to blow up
@@bmwman1981whatever you say man.
Sweet home Alabama, where the sky are so blue (XD), awesome car, need a downpipe on my scirocco
I was like oh how befitting of the car having a Madison County plate on it. LOL!
govee’s been my go to source for all lighting so that’s pretty awesome seeing them work together with you freddy !
I’ll take the exhaust!!!!! If no one else calls it
As I Focus RS owner I am excited for this content!
I Jist picked up a 18 RS last month with 30,000km it's still got that new cat smell.
Sweet ride
I did worked in Lommel prouving ground where the rs has been designed and tested.
The first 2 where st models with the rs modifications.
The exhaust sound is just software modifications.
As the video progressed you started to show upgrades I'm planning for my yellow Abarth 595. The montecarlo wheel, KWs..
Just got a Govee indoor light. Has a ton of options for lighting. Colors and scenes. Definitely worth the money. You can also setup a schedule.
Congratulations, im finishing up my stroker build on the focus st, rs head swap, g35-900 turbo.
I love these cars and the white integrale style wheels and stripes really make it look great with this color!
Love the Noble sitting in the back too
Looks mint mate, next u r in the u.k. you should get a mk2 focus RS a nice green 1 get it shipped over to the u.s. would look sweet next to the mk3
The Focus even in Stock form is a nice ride, One of the best Fords since the Crown Vic :-)
Fiesta's are fun too
Is that stradmans old one lol 😂 love the focus RS has to be 1 of my favourite cars even if I was a millionaire I'd still have to have one it's nasty machine fair play Freddie ,you've been staying in the UK to long you'll be a football hooligan soon 😂😂😂
Bro, thank you for kind who is the living real life for focus RS for us dream car best of the best thank you
Looks much better! I've been subbed to your other channel.. just subbed to this one as well.. awesome looking RS! The wheels look phenominal!
The wheels look super nice...I think Jack's Hot Boy nature is rubbing off on Freddie and I love it!
Just bought one 3 days ago. I love it so far
I love my focus rs glad it’s getting more respect
This is the best looking focus on youtube for sure. Nice touches.
KW would be the money kept in my pocket option though.
tavarischy is back (to basics). LOVED IT!
Focus RS , ST and titanium x are my favourite cars/trim but stupidly expensive on the first two.
Gonna have a fan girl moment. I bought the same exhaust for my car a year ago and have yet to fit it. Will be doing that this weekend after seeing this video lol. Can’t wait to see how much you enjoy the focus. I wanna see you out a drift stick in it!
loving the channel tavarish. Boss.
Thank whoever for 2varish!!! - I have followed your main channel for a looong time, and love your content - I just don't have any passion for youtuber car no. 1........the McLaren........
I'm not going away, just waiting for the time when you get back to some more interesting cars!!!
In the meantime you make a lot of money of your English moneypit and I love that you do❤️
I'll be here when you dicide to do something else😃
Exhaust packaging of THE GODS! No one will ever have anything other than a perfect exhaust after shipping... It is encased!
I have to say i love that focus always wanted one, deff going to be a US jdm classic in the future
did you close the deck also
Id love to see more on this build if possible.
Beautiful build Freddy! Why do you need so many dailies though?
