When I travel to other countries, I sometimes pause as to what could and or would happen should an emergency take place. No foreign countries are required to assist you nor do you have much of a chance to push back. There are some countries I refuse to travel to and cruise lines are officially OFF limits. We have seen how the cruise lines offer “assistance” in cases of a tragedy but 99.9% of these tragedies are fully blocked by the cruise companies at every step. IF the FBI were to become involved, they still take every step to refuse to comply or offer any assistance or evidence for that matter. Every country should start fining EVERY cruise company for its stance on refusing to assist as they make billions each year and as they are registered in the Caribbean islands they dodge the hefty taxes as well!!

@@NatureLover-62 Yeh I try not to be a morally judgemental person, but when I hear about friends going on cruises I have to bite my tongue. For all the reasons you state, for sure. Plus, I'm a real sceptic when comes to environmental panics- but those ships are hideously bad in that respect. People buying EVs, then going on 3 month cruises- you couldn't make it up!

Just because it looks like a paradise doesn't mean it is, & the people/country only continue to make a profit if they keep tourists coming, so they try to squash/cover up these things whether corruption/important people are involved or not.

I agree with you. I have traveled the world ever since I was a baby. But as a traveler, i know that when you go to another country you make yourself vulnerable- you are a tourist in a foreign land and, most often, do not speak the language. You need to be responsible when traveling and that means not traveling to countries that you know have a clear, documented history of being unsafe- places where the government is corrupt and the people are desperate.

As with so many of these cases where a person goes missing while overseas, this is the sad reality, particularly if the local authorities have mishandled the investigation. There is simply no other reasonable excuse for not assisting or permitting investigators from the missing person's home country to look into the case other than, perhaps, corruption. There are few experiences worse than not knowing what happened to your missing child.

I've been to all parts of Cuba from the year 2000 to 2020. Around 2 twice a year for holidays. The Island is beyond beautiful. The people are even beyond the beauty of the Island. They are kind, generous, and giving. Having said this, its a third world country where 500$ American would be more then most people make in a year. Unfortunately, you will always have a criminal element in any country. I pray for this young lady and her family. I pray for their closure and peace. Cubans will want to solve this case. Not just for tourism reasons, but because ,for the most part, they are family oriented and they care. The Police are very suspect there as are the politicians. The right bribe to the right official, will no doubt retrieve her body. Solving her murder is more complicated. The locals deal with these issues as well. A corrupt system.

Husband.... according to my gut...who else would it be, and why? She wouldn't have gone off with a stranger, and she was in a popular beach resort area, not some backstreet slum, so highly unlikely that nobody would have seen a commotion. They went on holiday together yet he planned a day out alone? Who does that? Who goes on a wedding anniversary holiday then buggers off out on a lone excursion for the whole day? Rather convenient he was in the middle of the ocean all day on the same day she disappeared! What's the chances of that? I think it's him. My common sense tells me it's him. That's not her in the grave. She's way down on the sea bed.

Nothing happens in Cuba without the consent, supervision and knowledge of the authorities. Tourism is the main money market for Cuba, and the government has always sold the country as a super safe paradise. Crimes only occur in the evil country of the yankis. Not only are incidents like this one obstructed if they hinder the party’s good name, local crime is never reported on, as if it never happens. There is a reason most Cubans never go back.

What a particularly curious and unsettling case. From what was presented here, it seems quite certain that Claudia was indeed the victim of foul play and had not disappeared on her own terms, although I suppose the latter cannot be completely ruled out as no evidence of injury or foul play has been found (or revealed.) Then there's the question of the Greek tour guide with whom she had been spotted at the time of her disappearance. Who was he? Had she possibly ran off with him voluntarily in order to begin a new life? I am uncertain as to the nature of her relationship with her family including her husband, so as of yet I cannot rule out the possibility of her having snuck away voluntarily. Of course then there's the possibility that she had been abducted - possibly by the Greek guy - or human traffickers, although that too is just purely speculative.
Then there's the curious claim of a blonde woman's deceased body having been discovered the following year and the equally bizarre refusal of authorities to release any information concerning the identity of the body other than a resounding denial that it belonged to Claudia.
This leads us to the most troubling detail yet - the claims made by Juan regarding the burial of a woman whom he believed to be Claudia, and the refusal of authorities to allow German investigators to examine the remains or at least compare the teeth against dental records. The uncooperative behavior of Cuban officials with regard to the remains signals to me to be the biggest red flag in the case yet, hinting at the possible knowledge or even involvement of local officials or government in Claudia's fate. In 1999, Cuba was still under the Communist dictatorship of Castro, and as an American, unfortunately I have been denied access to adequate, unbiased knowledge regarding Cuban affairs throughout Castro's regime. Everything I had been taught about Cuba was tainted with anti-Communist paranoia and right-wing propaganda, and as such, I am afraid I cannot weigh in on this possibility of involvement by Cuban officials to any meaningful or plausible extent. With that being said, however, I do nevertheless highly suspect Cuban authorities of at least knowing more than they're admitting and possibly trying to cover it up in order to protect the identity of the perpetrator.
The question then remains, why would Cuba wish to conceal the identity of the perpetrator? Well, if her disappearance was the responsibility of someone either high up in government or perhaps a relative of someone of wide reverence and authority than it makes sense as to why that information would be kept hidden from the public. If, on the other hand, her fate had been decided by some regular civilian, it doesn't make sense as to why officials would go through such great lengths to keep it on the hush. Now, unless I am mistaken, most if not all manner of jobs and employment were managed by the government, and therefore, Juan's profession as a cemetery attendant would have almost certainly been treated as a government position, thus giving officials all the more reason to keep his possible involvement a secret. News that a trusted and respected representative of Castro's "flawless" Communist regime had murdered a German tourist would have surely caught the attention of Castro's international (and local) critics as well as spark a global fear of travel to Cuba. Such an incident would've had potentially catastrophic effects for the Cuban economy, as tourism was one of the nation's most lucrative industries. As such, it seems very plausible that perhaps Juan or some other government employee had assaulted and murdered Claudia, prompting the government to take swift measures to protect its reputation by keeping the matter hidden. I can't help but speculate that the body that was found the following year after her disappearance was most likely that of Claudia's. That might explain the odd behavior of authorities surrounding its identity.
I also cannot help but wonder what role, if any, had the Greek guy played in Claudia's demise? Had he been the one responsible? As a tour guide, it seems likely that he had also been employed by the government, hence the silence on part of officials- although this is pure speculation as I don't know anything about how Castro's employment system worked. Did it even hire non-citizens ? Was the tour guide position paid by a private foreign entity? Did Castro's Cuba even permit foreign entities to conduct business in the nation? These are all questions that, unfortunately, I am unable to answer due to my lack of knowledge, however I plan to remedy that very soon lol.
Anyway, great presentation as always! Thank you for the highly intriguing information 😊
