It's definitely a really good one, that being said, it's also all about personal tastes and opinion :) Personally I love this band to bones, but Alpha & Omega didn't make it to me, compared to the two first albums that I find both simply amazing. But that's just me, and this is still great stuff of course ! The Bad Thing might be my favourite one in this double album. All this to say: I would rather say their best song is Racecar. Imo everything that makes Periphery such a great band can be found in Racecar, from the very beginning to the very ending of it. It's just an insanely well-written song that has such a smooth and strong flow, but you know ... maybe that's just me haha :D Other songs that I would qualify of "just" truely excellent are Ow My Feelings, Buttersnips, Have A Blast, Facepalm Mute, Luck As A Constant, Froggin' Bullfish and Zero. TL;DR All of their music is awesome anyways, these guys just rock ! uh, I mean, they djent :>
well said! I will check all of those songs out, the only one out of the ones mentions that i listened to was alpha and omega. should be good afternoon im sure.
My kid told me about 8 years ago "you've got to check out periphery" but I didn't really dig very deep on em until this last year,, and now they're my latly favorite. Such amazing flavor they are..
2:39 - 3:22 is hands down one of my favourite breakdowns of ALL time. Drop A 0's, quick galloping bursts on the kicks, that fuckin china, using octaves, NASTY ass pinches and finally dissonance. Filth.
This was the first Periphery song I had ever heard. Its been like a year since I first heard them on a Spotify playlist. While Spotify is mostly cancer, I will be forever grateful for the day I heard about these guys.
The first song I ever heard from them was CVRCH BVRNER and I liked it and tried to listen to other songs but didn’t like his vocals. Then a year later I checked out some songs again to see if I had changed my mind and I 100% did and was so baffled I didn’t like his vocals back then
I wasn't really keen on Djent as a metal genre but Periphery and Meshuggah changed my opinion . I don't see the reason why people say Djent sucks . Djent is awesome !
+Mr Napalm The thing is that, for every Meshuggah or Periphery, we get seventy extremely generic bands that only care about chugging strings repeatedly and interrupting compasses abruptly like they're doing very complex things like the adults do. And they can only fall under the Djent name, so yeah.
+Mr Napalm djent is basically polyrythmic music with 7 and 8 strings. i see it as the evolution of music. Heck, Jazz fusion uses the same type of songwriting sometimes.
Lyrics Sometimes there's a crack in the world that I can peer through, And see it for what it really is. There’s an ugly face staring back at demons of everyone, They draw the hatred from inside of me. There were times at the top of the Earth that I wish that I could throw, Everyone and everything. Watch surrounding symphonies of the hypocrites, Abating in the thought of it. Severed dreams of all the weak - quenching thirst inside of me, And the scream it holds the key - unlocking this for all to see Fly past the trees, ascend to holy air and breathe Far from the leaves, transcend these earthly boundaries Fly past the trees, ascend to holy air and breathe Far from the leaves, transcend the fucking boundaries And is it this desire that you're looking for? Or is insanity is knocking at your door? And give me just a peace and surely you will find - Everything is better on the other side. But can you look within and find what is in store? This life is but a scream that has become your whore It's tearing a hole inside, you'll bury your life Sometimes there's a hole in the Earth that I can slip through, To get away from the twisting of tongues. There was a love I could greet without tearing up, Feel the desire creeping over me. There were times at the top of the Earth that I wish that I could throw, Everyone and everything. Watch surrounding symphonies of the hypocrites, Abating in the sight of it. I’d like a reason just to help them bleed. Give me a reason, come on give it to me. Give me a reason, fucking give me a reason. Ah-Ah give me a reason, come on give it to me. Fly past the trees, Far from the leaves, Fly past the trees, ascend to holy air and breathe Far from the leaves, transcend the earthly boundaries And is it this desire that you're looking for? Or is insanity just knocking at your door? And give me just some peace and surely you will find - Everything is better on the other side. But can you look within and find what is in store? This life is but a scream that has become your whore, It's tearing a hole inside, you'll bury your life Yeah, there’s a crack in the Earth, there’s a crack in the Earth, yeah I’d like a reason just to help them bleed. Give me a reason, come on give it to me.
You got it mostly right, but a few of your lines are off. It's "watch the mountains snap the necks of the hypocrites, I'm bathing in the thought of it." Not anything about surrounding symphonies. Next, it's "it looks a lot like a grave when I'm staring up, feeling the soil creeping over me." Not lost loves and desire.
There are few bands that share the same level of raw talent and creativity that Periphery has. Every member of this band uses that talent to its fullest extent and it shows. And its a shame that more people dont see that. A lot of people dont like metal because of the screaming and they don't see past that. But if you pay attention to the music, you'll find that it is much more than "angry". Most modern music (pop, rap, country and even a lot of metal bands these days) are just so processed and conformed into make the most profitible sound, that i think they lose sight of what music is about. Music is art, it's about expressing yourself and making things that you love. Periphery gets that. They are so focused on what they want to do. To them it doesnt matter. Like their music or not, they will continue to make the music that they love because they love doing it. And that is part of the reason why they hold such a high magnitude in my mind. Also Juggernaut : Alpha/Omega is an absolute masterpiece from top to bottom. The story telling and imagery throughout the album is incredible. Not to mention every single instrument is played in a certain way to enhance that story telling and it is absolutly beautiful. This will forever be one of my all time favorite albums and bands ever. Thank you for being you, Periphery.🤘
+OHG1997 “Prayer Position,” an angular, rhythmically complex screamer about the aftermath of binging. “It’s basically an angry hangover song,” the vocalist explains. “It’s about paying for the fun you’ve had and dealing with the effects of it.”

Coming back to this after a while I think whoever was handling the lights is a god The whole video is awesome but I mean take a look at the end. The blue and red lights have been flashing more less randomly and steadily since 4:49, but it is still gripping bc of the violence the red beams deliver, at 5:02 they line up with the bass drum to break into that massive scream climax with only dry flashes that reinforce the guitar lines. Also shout-out to the cameras with those empowering low angles during all this final segment, and that almost frightening performance delivered by Spencer Just wow
Rebeckah Stevens don't marry me, it would be a bad thing, my 15th birthday's over anyways ;) .. But you're (partially) right, this and "Stranger Things" are the best cracks in the earth..!

I used to be a professional drummer and educator but had to give it up for a more lucrative career when my son was born. The change was hard enough that, not only do I not play anymore, I don't even listen to music anymore. With all that being said, I'll be damned if I don't listen to this song about once a month even still.

I think Nolly is secretly evil and all these songs portray his real side. >:) *Laughing in Nolly*

Adam Nolly Getbad

The Badassity level of this song should be a matter of deep study in universities around the world
couldn't have said it better myself
it should be included in the library of congress national music registry as a significant influential important piece of music in American history.
badassery
should be an unit of measurement, like "wow man, your tattoos are like a million thebadthings"
i guess volumetric badassity would then be measured in thebadthings for cubic meter, is that correct? "dude there's 100 tBT / m³ in this vodka bottle"
This may be one of the best periphery songs i've come across, holy fuck.
I thing it is the best song

+klblackstar thats when i actually enjoy his cleans
