You know I definitely got a red vibe from p2, and a yellow vibe from p3. This album definitely lived up to its expectation of sounding triangle. Good job guys! 3/3
Pretty sure Spencer’s highest notes on the record are on the words “heaven” and “satellites” and I don’t know I can handle that type of creative genius right now, holy cow. Spencer’s vocals are insane, this record is superb guys!
I've been fighting tears man. Hits u hard in the feels and triggers every emotion. AOTY for me I'm calling it now, and there's a lot of good shit ahead this year!
Spencer surpass his limit in this very song! He went even higher that he went in Absolomb And people say that corey taylor got the highest vocal range -_-
5:00 onward really puts Spencer's incredible voice on full display. That high note on the last "satellites" gets me every time. I've listened to Periphery since 2011 and it's amazing to hear Spencer progress more and more every single album. I don't know how he does it, but I am always blown away by his never-ending pursuit of pushing the boundaries as much as he possibly can.
This song reminded me so much of my dad for some reason, he died two years ago as of the day before yesterday. One of our favorite bands and will always be one mine! In fact you’re the last band we saw before he died. Music for some reason always leads me to think about him and it’s a bittersweet feeling but I love music so much lol. Thanks for all the jams periphery :)
Man, I wish that I had the chance to share the fucking spectacular masterpieces Periphery makes with my dad. As of this coming August 1, it will be 9 years ago since he passed. Metallica and Linkin Park were our bands so I can relate to that musical connection. If he were alive today I would hope that he’d love how greatly talented these guys are and share the love of their music with me! Periphery is great! I’d say...HAIL PERIPHERY!
5:33 just saved my life. Really not having a good couple of months, all that emotional depression shit... its whatever "were going under, it's not worth takin the fall, not worth losing it all" Really had a huge impact on me. Changed really deep and dark thoughts in my head about bad things. We shall all prevail Hope everybody stays safe and have a good day
I feel you, man, this helps me cope as well. Hope you're doing fine. Times are kinda fucked right now and it might get worse yet, but this too shall pass.

I rearly comment on youtube videos, but now I have to. Going through a rough phase in life atm. This album has probably saved my life. Thank you Periphery and everyone involved!
William Blumberg his vocals are hit or miss for me. Sometimes the way he exaggerates the pronunciation on certain songs or parts makes it unbearable to listen to. It’s something he never really did on the first two albums
@@nomeru_0 Personally the exaggeration and modifications he does are something I love about his vocals. He brings far more style to his singing than most. But I can understand hes not for everyone, after all no singer is enjoyed by everyone. I'd also add that he did do it on p2 as well.
Wherever I Fall we must be talking about something different because I’m talking about the change in vocal style on juggernaut which is very different to p2. He sounded a lot more natural on p2 and everything after that kinda sounds forced
@@nomeru_0 You were talking about him bending vowels and changing the pronunciation of words which made it unbearable for you. He did those things on P2 as well just not as often. His vocal style changed and grew with his voice. Sentient glow is very p2 and it's easy to hear that in his vocals as well.
Wherever I Fall yeah, in tracks like absolomb as well, it just sounds natural to him, it’s almost like he is trying to change his tone or something but it just sounds off to me, like in reptile he does it a lot and it puts me off
Plini and Periphery are one of the most happiest and uplifting Prog Metal bands I've heard so far... Animals As Leaders'... While they have happy songs, their vibe makes me feel like I am a more advanced human being than anyone else lol. In Periphery's case tho, and Plini, they tend to make me feel warm and they give that "I am at peace" sort of vibe which is kind of awesome too... Both sides of Prog music are awesome in different ways I guess...
I actually totally get what you mean. Animals as Leaders has like a superintelligent, stimulating vibe with wholesome elements, and Periphery often has that cozy "wholesome emo" commiserative vibe with stimulating elements-a vibe I fell in love with through Linkin Park back in the day. What I've heard of Plini also had it's own uplifting and cozy feel for sure. I love music like that, especially when they can pull it off while still being heavy and musically complex!
I'll admit it, I used to be a Spencer hater. I used to write off PI and even PII because I didn't like the sound of his voice. Something changed around Juggernaut though and he just took off and reached another level. He just keeps getting better and better, and at this point, yeah I'll say it, no one in this genre can touch him right now.
Periphery is filled with some of the most talented musicians I’ve ever heard. And yet, Spencer manages to outshine them with his voice. My favorite vocalist. Ever.
@@nickwojciechowski9525 I don't know about outshining them. I happen to be a gigantic Misha nuthugger. I would say that they compliment each other perfectly and even bring out the best in each other.
@@crummockiphail9720 He's just maturing and improving his vocal ability over time instead of resting on his laurels or using bad techniques like many metal vocalists who ruin their voices instead of improving them.
Couldn’t agree more, I see people hate on Spencer and I just don’t get it. There are parts of so many songs where his voice just absolutely moves emotions out of the art which is not an easy thing to do. But in a band with this many talented musicians I guess someone has to be under appreciated.
I wouldn't mind an instrumental of Periphery's tracks. Instrumentals are fine to listen to while listening to podcasts or playin' dialogue heavy games.
This might be the best outro song to any album they've done so far. Vocally and instrumentally. They've proven themselves once again with another absolutely phenomenal album front to back. Thank you for all of your hard work and creativity, Periphery. Forever in my heart, you will never be forgotten.
CaptiveNumber it’s pretty hard to give this the nod over Stranger Things or Masamune. But I’m willing to give it more time to grow on me it is a great song!
Periphery's closers are something else, I tell ya. This, Racecar, the ones Tim mentioned... LUNE, don't forget that one... Psychosphere too technically. And I'll count Pale Aura too. They know how to leave you off on some of the most beautiful of notes.
Stranger Things is still definitely my favourite closer from them. Juggernaut is also, in my opinion, where Spencer sounded his absolute best. The dirty vocals on Hail Stan are up there (especially Blood Eagle). I just can't understand people saying this here is his best performance when things like the Juggernaut Album exist. Hell, he sounded phenomenal on Clear as well - that second verse in Pale Aura is a fucking god-tier Spencer moment.
This album was the last album one of My best friends will ever get to hear from periphery. A total master piece, thank you guys. Everytime I hear this song I think of him and all the times we shared together. He actually met Spencer in Taylor Larson's studio once, one of his favorite memories. He could play almost every periphery song on drums he got me into this band. They're amazing.
I'm so happy Spencer gets the recognition he deserves, at last. To be honest I haven't really listened to this album yet, I have been missing out it seems. I loved his vocals back on P1 and P2 but back then EVERYONE, like every single person I talked to thought they would be way better off without him, and that he didn't bring anything to the music. The truth is that those records were written as instrumentals and then they basically just layered it with his vocals. Considering the music they make he did an absolutely outstanding job and as a singer I have always felt he was one of the absolute musical beasts in our lifetime. Finally he gets to fly free. He did in P3 too, but this record seems to be an absolute milestone for him, and for vocalists in general.
I have been listening to Periphery since the very start. I can't think of Singer which has improve as much as Spencer has. His vocals were pretty harsh on P1 and especially his growling and fry screams weren't that great, but Icarus Lives EP + P2 were already such a massive improvement. I honestly think Periphery peaked with the Alpha + Omega album, but some of these songs on Hail Stan are definitely the highlight of Spencer's career so far. It's crazy how massive his improvement has been. Satellites and Garden in the Bones are tracks which are being carried by his vocals. Honestly, with songs like these there should be no doubt about that he is one of the best vocalist in the metal scene.
im late but people are like "ewwww he sounds like a lil emo kid like vic from pierce the veil" but most vocalists with a similar timbre have NOWHERE NEAR the range he does
Spencer absolutely blew it out of the park on this one! His vocal technique, range, and control are among the best I've seen in this scene. I will not be afraid to admit that I got so many chills when 5:04 happened! This man is such a good vocalist!
9:23 THAT ENTIRE EPIC OF A SONG AND THAT'S HOW YOU END IT MY LAUGHTER REACHED PITCHES ALMOST AS HIGH AS SPENCER'S VOICE WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME PERIPHERY

This album I feel had Spencer as the star. He really made the best of every spot of the whole album. Even the parts that I felt dragged a little, Spencer makes something out of everything. As a singer, I can respect how much he put into this. Love Periphery, but gotta say bravo to Spence.

5:00 to 5:40 may be the most powerful piece of music that I've heard from a modern band. Spencer is on a different level. Periphery has set the bar so fucking high and they are the most underrated band I can think of.
The exposed drums around 3:36 are absolutely flawless. I mean of course the technique and playing is great but just the tone. Those drums sound sooo good. Powerful, deep, responsive, boomy. So good
I recently started listening to Periphery and this song blew me away. It is easily my favorite song of theirs. Their music has been therapeutic for me especially since I've been trying to make some sense out of my life. All that's left for me to say is I wish I heard of them sooner. Thank you Periphery
Every (full length)periphery album has that one mind blowing emotional song that changes your perception of the band a little at a time P1: jetpacks P2: Mile zero Juggs: priestess, or the last few minutes of Omega imo P3: lune P4: satellites
Holy fkn shitballs this song HAS TO BE their best! Ragnarok to this day was for me, but Fkkkk this takes all the elements of that one and just goes Super Saiyan Blue with it! Shit fks. Ughh Periphery. Dont ever stop what you are doing!! You guys have all been blessed by the Gods with too much musical talent to just NOT make music!!!!
Fucking flawless guys. And whether people think Spencer is the world’s greatest vocalist or not (I mean I vote yes), no one can argue with how incredibly far his vocals have come since P1. Every record his progress just blows my mind more and more. My life has been made with this release. Not gonna lie. 💕
always thought that Spencer is a talented vocalist, but on each album there were some parts where his vocals felt "out of place" for me personally. with P4 I feel like he finally perfected his "Periphery sound".
I listened to this album the day it came out. Every song on the album was absolutely spectacular no matter how many times I listened to it. Each song had their own independent meaning that was heavily inspired by each individual member of the band, but this song... This song is just something else. Satellites, in many ways, is earths dying call out to those who live on it. In the process of making life better for ourselves, we often forget the inevitable consequence of things like climate change, war, poverty, and so many more international issues that plague us to this day. Now, with every day that passed by since March of 2019, this song becomes more and more relevant with its meaning. I'm not sure if that's a result of getting older and coming to the realization of the real world, or if we as people really have destroyed everything. No matter what it is, this song makes me bawl my eyes out, because it's just so beautiful. Thank you Periphery.
Matt really took this one to the next level. The drum different switches of grooves here are just wonderful. So greatful he decided to play what he played.
"This band would be better without vocals!" You obviously have no idea what you're talking about. Being able to put emotion into musical pieces like this is an art form, and no one does it better. And his range?? Forget about it..
No I know, I’m a vocalist, I have been for 15+ years... and I can honestly say if he did anything but metal he would be a god in my opinion. But there’s god damn rules man, some things he just does... just goes and does what ever the hell he wants... that’s careless lol it throws me off my socks, I can’t be in such a tight heavy groove nodding my head like “oooo wee” then suddenly I look like a fan of some weird emo Chester Bennington music.... I’m not... what if I’m at a stop light with the windows down... ya know... like what if I’m with other metal heads... Elitist types... I can’t bang them in public... LOOOOOOOOL
Ikr its hard to find an album that I dont dislike at least 1 song... I cant find a song that I'm even like eh this one is ooooook... unlike every single last song this band has put out
It's funny because this is like the only Periphery song I like. Not saying they're bad, just not my thing. I'm more into TesseracT and The Contortionist.
I've never heard of this band before and didn't know what to expect. 1. It's really beautiful. 2. That scream scared the shit out of me, and I'm speaking as someone who listens to metal all the time. I thought I lost that feeling of jumping once someone starts screaming in a song once I got used to metal... I missed that feeling.
I've really cried while listening to this song first time, back in the April. I never thought Periphery can be so emotional, u know, like that way... Pure gold, one of the best songs of all the time, I guess. Hail Spencer! Hail all of you, guys!

Mostly just groovy shit based on inverted double stroke roll. RLLR RLLR RLLR RLLR. Place the right hand on the hat and the left on the snare and fill the backbeats with the right hand on the snare. I hope this was helpful! 😊
When I used to play bass in a prog metal band (actually opened for these guys in 2014) I was always after a clean sound that sounded like it was thisclose to breaking into distortion, and then when I wanted that extra edge, I'd dip the gain up a hair and it just sounded glorious. That's what that note reminds me of. He hits that high and just pushes it barely past the breaking point.

How can people not like this this is pure fucking gold
why do people hate his voice? hands down the best vocal performance ive heard all year. Spencer's the GOAT
Wherever I Fall yeah, in tracks like absolomb as well, it just sounds natural to him, it’s almost like he is trying to change his tone or something but it just sounds off to me, like in reptile he does it a lot and it puts me off
Those high vocals holy shit
HOLY CRAP they used marks riff from his old delay demo. So freaking happy to hear it made it into an album finally.
Dat bass though. Nolly killed it. Spencer is also one of the best modern metal vocalists. Nailed those high notes

Something changed around Juggernaut though and he just took off and reached another level. He just keeps getting better and better, and at this point, yeah I'll say it, no one in this genre can touch him right now.

They definately had me at suck my balls
🥲🥲🥲❤❤
5:05 - 5:40 made my jaw drop and the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. How the FUCK are there still people who don't like Spencer?!

Lyrics ¶
The heart went in two ways and the brain has gone in stereo
Invent and reinvest
What do we know?
(What do we know?)
Why do we do it
Not enough to carry on alone
Whats left of simple life and beauty all around
Left in the arms of the living
I shake
Left in the cold
A cut upon the skin
They're always sharp in the beginning
Where is the love in the bend and the break?
This is our home
A cut upon the skin
They're always sharp in the beginning
We stick to the two lanes
Live on the road
Shy away from the natural
What do we know?
(What do we know?)
It's not enough to carry on alone
That's why we do it together
What's left of simple life and beauty all around
Left in the hands of the living
I burn, but to return
A sheet upon the sphere
This simple heart is the exterior
Where is the love in the bend and the break?
This is our home
A cut upon the skin
They're always sharp in the beginning
Down in the blue
Damaged by the new
Beyond the tide
Far from all
But this is us
This is life
It's suicide
We're all ten feet tall rolling in that ball
This is us
This is life
Suicide
The mountain cracks from the kicks we give
The plain will split in two and swallow where we live
(Swallow where we live)
The mistakes and the love that we take
The plain will split in two and swallow where we live
(Swallow where we live)
We're pushing down in a hole right before our eyes
The rising heat and the melting ice
Now all we care for is blood and satellites
The mountain cracks from all the kicks
The love we take and the grave mistakes
The land we rape that's within our wake
And all we strive for is blood and satellites
We're going under
We're going under
It's not worth taking the fall
It's not worth losing it all
We're going under
We're going under
We'll drop dead at the end of the fall
It's not worth losing It all
We're going under
Down in the blue
Damaged by the new
Beyond the tide Far from all
But this is us
This is life
It's suicide
We're all ten feet tall rolling in that ball
Battered skin under the road
Life begins as I corrode
Battered skin under the road
Life begins as I corrode
Corrode
Battered skin
Battered skin
Under the road
Life begins, as I corrode

Satellites, in many ways, is earths dying call out to those who live on it. In the process of making life better for ourselves, we often forget the inevitable consequence of things like climate change, war, poverty, and so many more international issues that plague us to this day. Now, with every day that passed by since March of 2019, this song becomes more and more relevant with its meaning.
