- Periphery's official music video for 'Blood Eagle', the first single from new album Periphery IV: HAIL STAN - available now on 3DOT Recordings at periphery.net
Directed by Jeremy Danger (jeremydanger.com) and Travis Shinn (travisshinn.com)
Lyrics:
We come for war
King of the north and norse
With drums beating, screams repeating and the hammer force of Thor
Surrender not enough
The christian seed will sing amongst the soil of trees
From the sea is the destroyer
From the sea is the eagle drenched in blood
Blood eagle is the destroyer
Blood eagle will set the wicked free
Rip the body from the bone now
Spread the heavens wings
Show Valhalla glory and memory
Let the christians sing
Let ‘em sing
Let out the roar
Barbaric to the core
A storm brewing
All our doing for Odin’s at the door
The spoils are not enough
We’ll let ‘em bleed
The moon takes everyone tonight
The christians sing
How they sing amongst the broken wings
from the sea is the eagle drenched in blood
A soul descending swiftly
The burning stench of afterlife
No rays from heaven
Only high sun
A soul descending swiftly
The burning stench of afterlife
No rays from heaven
And no son
Pleading to the sky once more
Weeping for the self
For the abandoned children of christ have been laid to waste on the shelf
Pour out the tide of valkyries
The land is ours to claim
No man or woman escape the fire
Now they can sing
NOW SING!
The tide of valkyries
We come for war
King of the north and norse
With drums beating, screams repeating and the hammer force of Thor
Surrender not enough
We’ll let ‘em bleed
The moon takes everyone tonight
We come for war

Yes
Exactly. Every member is so skilled and stands out on their own. Not very many bands have a line up quite like this.
That's what I call a TEAMWORK is.
As a singer, I just want to thank Spencer, and Misha for selecting Spencer. The incredible music, with any other singer, I believe would suffer. I am convinced that no other singer would use the music to its full potential the way Spencer does.
Periphery is full of amazing musicians, but Spencer’s vocals really take the band to another level

@@AndreBigBoi I have. He doesn't do nearly as much for me.
Meh. I HUNGER for their instrumentals because he’s the weak link in the band. Everyone I know believes the same. He’s gotten much better- but Periphery doesn’t need emo vocals
@@robdubent emo vocals? What type of singer would you prefer? just instrumental tracks? Because they do release those. At this point, Spencer is the main reason I listen, even though the instrumentals are phenomenal.

My favourite part of this song to scream 🖤
I never saw Vikings (the show), or anything deepened about nordic culture. I typed "Blood Eagle" on google, and now, my ribs hurts. Thank you!
Blood eagle isn't a real thing (or at least we never found existing proof that it has existed) so it's mostly a spectacular scene in the Vikings series, more than an historical thing ;)
@@uscopic4614 You can be right, but my ribs still hurts (And I even saw this scene) LoL
Where the hell did they pull this masterpiece from??? Was not expecting this level of heavy from Periphery. This song is absolutely brutal and the drumming and production are incredible, not to mention Misha has been back to shred school. Can't wait for the album now.
They have their own label now so they don't have Sunerian breathing down their necks creatively is my guess. Not to say P3 wasn't great, but damn, this song is the best they've done
I think they pulled it from Bleed by Meshuggah. Not that they copied it, but that they paid tribute to the band that began all of this. They're huge fans, and with the Viking themed lyrics, I don't doubt that this was a way to honor the band.
@@MarkToast99 makes sense and definitely has a much more Meshuggah feel. No better band to pay homage to. Good point on the Nordic lyrics.

You know, for Misha talking about not liking solos, he sure does a kickass job at them...Great song and album!
When most solos are thoughtless wankery, it's easy to get behind that mindset
He seemed to be really getting into it in the video lol
Melodical solos are the best 👌
Lots to like in that thoughtful, skillful solo, but for me a big highlight is the butter-smooth, perfectly articulated legato passages. Masterful...
Misha's solos are/were heavily inspired/Influenced by those crazy Progressive Synth/Guitar style chord progressions, and solos poking through from the legend, Alan Holdsworth's (70's Prog/Synth/Jazz), among other of course. He was a huge influence for Misha/Bulb when learning guitar. Alan Holdsworth is a legend and was one of those guys that was in a completely different reality in terms of what people were doing on guitar in the 70's.

Words can't fucking do this song justice, it's that awesome. I've been with this band since the start; P1 - Present. Periphery has evolved so much since the begining, but man, this song just tickles some bones that nothing else Periphery has put out has. And I'm not saying that all their other stuff sucks, their other stuff is my favorite music. Periphery is my favorite band, hands down. But somewhere in this song I felt myself feeling the rhythm in an a way I have never had from their music. This is good, this means they're evolving, changing. That's good to see from a band, and this band knows how to do it well.
this song is BRUTAL... and its subject matter is top notch.. love the NORSE Mythology
@MyboiJAEGER
Its the epitome of prog. Experimental components that just fit and sounds awesome! I really hope they have one or two smoother, cleaner songs that add a nice contrast to the album and make this even more brutal.
It's funny you should say that. I completely agree that this song kicks some serious ass, but this takes me back to their first album. It would fit RIGHT in next to Insomnia, The Walk, Totla Mad and Zyglrox. If the rest of the album is like this, I'll find myself binging a Periphy album yet again. Holy fuck this song slays.

Nothing, it was just a slightly unexpected style at first. I felt a similar way about some P3 songs when they came out (not deathcore, but they were unexpected) but the more you listen the more you hear that you missed first time through. Their stuff is always super infectious like that.
@ksts45Ⓐ Well I'm not a big fan of -core genres for the most part (nothing against them, just not my thing) and I meant it sounds more like "stereotypical deathcore". But one of my fav things about Periphery was always that they took exactly the parts of -core styles I really enjoy, and then mixed it with some god tier prog metal. @@akumaangelus2999 not holdsworth really.. A little bit, but not much.. I have like all Allans music too lol.
Why is spencer dressed like Charlie in the fightclub episode of It's Always Sunny
IASIP Crew chime in!!
Because he just consumed a ton of Fight Milk.
Milk steak washed down with Fight Milk?
Watch your profits soar high as crow!
LORCAN MACKEN I can see the sub he was eating laying on the floor.
2:37 Damn, Spencer's vocal performance on this track is outstanding!
Somebody's been taking their Alex Jones Male Vitality Pills
Brain Force Plus
Timothy Muscat top comment holy fuck
This song gets better and better every time you hear it
WE COME FOR WAR
Vocal cover of this when Lauren?!! :D
PS. I found your channel from that incredible Ragnarok cover of yours, feels like it's gone full circle now hahah
You and Periphery should collaborate on a song! That'd be epic.
@@forcedentry2010 How do you know they didn't?!
WOOOOOOOOOOOR
Lauren, I love you sooo much!!! Keep rocking on. I listen to your stuff. :)
This is my neighbors favorite band whether they like it or not
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂
Yeh I feel you.
Эти назойливые соседи заебали уже паразитировать на этой земле, пора уже отвечать за свои содеяния.
i feel like i've seen this before but i don't care, it's amazing
How original...
I've been waiting for this song for a long time. Love the heavier side of periphery! Album should be a gem
I just had the biggest grin from 0:04 onward.
As soon as that opening riff hit, my head collapsed in on itself. Jesus fuck.
Same. I leaned back in my chair, pumped my fist a bit, and all I could say was" ...yes"
Now your previous albums sound like coldplay
You forgetting mk ultra and hell below exist.
@@sicariusbladehart9525 this is heavier than both of those.
@@LarryDaGamerGuy nah
I’d really love it if Coldplay put out an album of prog metal. You know they want to, you can see it in their b-sides. It’d be hilarious.
I like old coldplay a lot
Showed this to my dog.
Nothing happened, he just loves it alot.
good boy
*a lot
*Now you're his dog.
give him a treat please
a blood beagle
This is so heavy that I think i need a protein shake
hahah, good hangin with ya pal!
Always remember... train untamed.
I think you're gonna need 3 a day
And some tren...
*ligaments have left the chat*
These are some of the best lyrics I have ever heard from any band. Bad ass!
That riff in 4:12 is groovy as f*** :D Good job guys! You're making a real masterpiece!
If you studied the Vikings and the Norsemen of the 7th-8th century, the "No man or woman escapes the fire" part just sounds horrifying and so brutal, the music accompanied by the lyrics just truly sounds terrifying and it sends shivers down my spine.
I think more terrifying is that the original lyrics said "no man or woman escapED the fire". Not as they will not scape in the future but that no one did.
Getting Blood Eagled in vikings is fucking wild
The lyrics are brutal. I love it.
Matt Halpbern is good at the drums pass it on
He definitely Get Good Drums.
Matt Gartska is better pass it on
We’ re not talking about garstka. LaRs IS BETTER pass it on!
Incredible. There is still not a single bad Periphery song. #HailStan
Chris MacKinnon The Price Is Wrong was pretty bad imo
@@ryansadauskis fair enough, you're entitled to your own opinion, even if that opinion is wrong 🤷♂️
I always skip the price is wrong. Instrumentaly its great but the lyrics are so cringeworthy. I was worried about that here, but this song is incredible!
Periphery isn't that good. Unfortunately I have to see them when I take my Fiancé to see dance gavin dance
Alpha and omega were just entirely bad songs give or take 2 tracks
Holy hell this is amazing! Reminds me why I fell in love with Periphery years ago. Great stuff guys!
ITS NOT YOUR AVERAGE FUCKING MISTERGRAY
Spencer looks like Charlie on steroids from It's Always Sunny
