i havent listened to metal in over 5 years due to a falling out. anytime i listened to music was pop music as background noise. hearing this...made me realize why i loved this genre and subgenre of djent and prog. holy shit. gonna jam this all week. thank you Periphery!
Here again for my daily listen. Something about blood curdling screams, melodic rock pre-choruses followed up with a smooth jazz breakdown and a gravity defying blast beat to finish, perfectly balanced.
I'll never forget when my best friend and neighbor after school told me "dude i found this crazy band that you've gotta check out" and he played scarlet and i was blown away instantly it's absolutely crazy to think that was 11 years ago ALSO THIS SONG SLAPS
I've been listening to this several times each day since the release date or so. Every few days I discover new musical complexities in a different sequence of just a few bars. There is music for years in this song. These melodies and beats together are fucking legendary. This piece is just so much greater than the sum of its parts. I am still blown. PS.And the pre-chorus melody could be as well in some classical music. Amazing.
What makes Periphery stand out so much for me is that Spencer is an entertainer, through and through. Few metal singers nowadays have his stage/screen presence. P5 is gonna be an absolute banger digitally and live
The rise of the chorus to that instant of ‘wildfire’, the lyrics : ‘when all the bad times stick, and I don’t know what to do with them’ it just burns like ‘wiiiiiiildfiiiire!’
Wow! My first time hearing this band. LOVE the sound! I had to rewind and listen to that chorus about 15 times, it's that good. I especially dig it the first time through, rhythmic and melodic complexity morphing into the payoff of the wildfire line. Then the second time through the chorus is interrupted by the jazz break (awesome) which sounds like it's the chorus structure itself. Then back for the full double-kick version of the chorus. Very interesting construction. I'm intrigued! I've been around the block a couple times, been playing bass professionally for 45 years, listening to progressive/metal all that time. Never been into the blast beat/extreme vocal thing much. The gateway drug was Jinjer, who I discovered last month and fell instantly in love with. Saw them live within days of discovery and I'm hooked. A recommendation from a Jinjer reaction video brought me here, and now I can see I have another deep dive ahead of me. Awesome! This kicks ass!
This band constantly surprise in the best way possible. They seem to have a bag of tricks that never ends. Congratulations to you all on all your hard work and effort. It has paid off, because I can't stop listening to this song! Periphery fan for life.

One thing I've noticed about this band is that they have these nice pleasant instrumental breaks in between their songs. I enjoy it. :) My favorite song of all time from Periphery is ''Reptile'' followed by ''Stranger Things''
Matt's drums, Spencer's vocals, these riffs and tone, the overall mix. Everything is literally perfect about this song, it's been on repeat since it's available. I thought P4 and specifically Reptile would be the most elaborated and perfect project Periphery would do but they just proved me wrong and that's for the best. I can't wait to hear the rest of the album ! \m/

It's so nice to see a reprisal of The Event. It's gotta be the most underrated track on the Juggernauts - which I guess makes sense since it's an interlude, but I've always been mesmerized by its structure and melody. Can't wait for the record! 🤞🤞
Misha told Ola forever ago that he believes they had already reached their ceiling. I think just these two songs prove otherwise lol. They have gotten even better. Spencer especially has gotten better with every album. His melodies just grip your soul.
It's amazing there's fans who actually listen to these people!!!! First, none of them know the lyrics without reading them out. The vocalist is confused whether he's Faushi or Bono. And third, they couldn't sing nor play a lick in live settings without the magic of recording studio softwares.

Ya I think they were like.. people keep saying we copied meshuggah so let's just do it this time furrreal!
@@beavsinator they actually probably did lmao
Incredible, so fresh and callbacks/sounds from old albums mixed with new ones is awesome. Each album gets better and better, can’t wait for the full album!!
Songs like this, especially with that jazzy breakdown, make me glad I failed to unalive myself years ago. Thank you, Periphery for always coming with something great.
keep it together man! Life is so worth living just for all the awesome new music you'll get to hear!
Glad you're still with us man, much love❤🤟
I know EXACTLY how you feel. Good to see we both made it.
Art is truly one of the few reasons to continue living hava
I'm glad you're here to enjoy this, too
I know the big draw here is the Event call back on the chorus, but the Djazz breakdown? And the surprise breakdown at the end with the horns/strings outro on the track? I didn’t think these guys could get better, yet here I am, foot in mouth. True professionals, talented naturals. So much love
*Djazz
Holy crap after about 10 listens to the new song I just heard The Event randomly and realized this! That's a jedi-level master callback right there
Ah, now I know why I was getting Juggernaut vibes from this song
@@Tookastudios edited 😎
@@5against845 I know right? Super akin to other concept bands like Coheed, which is also top 5. It’s like McDonald’s cause I’m lovin it
i havent listened to metal in over 5 years due to a falling out. anytime i listened to music was pop music as background noise. hearing this...made me realize why i loved this genre and subgenre of djent and prog. holy shit. gonna jam this all week.
thank you Periphery!
Here again for my daily listen. Something about blood curdling screams, melodic rock pre-choruses followed up with a smooth jazz breakdown and a gravity defying blast beat to finish, perfectly balanced.
Love that you can hear Matt's voice coming through at 1:06
I was wondering who that was
@@taylork1746 You can see him say it
Absolutely; that was a great touch.
I'll never forget when my best friend and neighbor after school told me "dude i found this crazy band that you've gotta check out" and he played scarlet and i was blown away instantly it's absolutely crazy to think that was 11 years ago
ALSO THIS SONG SLAPS
Chorus gives me serious old school Glassjaw/Daryl Palumbo vibes. I'm here for it.
Back at it again boys. Killer track. The album is going to be incredible.
The jazz breakdown further confirms my choice in music taste. You guys always kill it.
Amazing.
literally every periphery song ever, but you put it into words so well!
@@horizoniki Thanks! As to their songs - not so for me, but this one is a single most cathartically refreshing songs I've heard in maybe 20+ years!
I tried, but its sounds to me like someone screaming overtop of machine gun fire. Guess this ain't my genre.
😂
I'm an avid UA-cam watcher, but Periphery is the ONLY channel I have alerts on for. I love you guys! Thanks for these great tunes!
What makes Periphery stand out so much for me is that Spencer is an entertainer, through and through. Few metal singers nowadays have his stage/screen presence. P5 is gonna be an absolute banger digitally and live
Jesse Leach has great stage presence
spencer sucks
All his years in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia sure have paid off
wtf are you talking about lol
@@protyay exactly lol he looks just like him and even is high pitched like him
This song gets better every time I hear it. Spencer really makes this shit perfect to compliment these insane instrumentals
It somehow gets even better and better after every listen.
Bruh
It seriously does
That’s generally what happens with any music you listen to… but no I don’t like this track at all
I love this song sooo much. I just wish Mark’s riff at 1:37 got a little more in this 😭😭 absolutely disgusting 🔥
Yes! Maybe my favorite riff of the song. Thank you for the timestamp
@@coveryourears3851me too, defo my fav! np
The rise of the chorus to that instant of ‘wildfire’, the lyrics : ‘when all the bad times stick, and I don’t know what to do with them’ it just burns like ‘wiiiiiiildfiiiire!’
My god this makes me so proud to have called these guys my favorite band since 2010. Love it!!!
That "The Event" call back in the chorus, we love to hear that. Fantastic as always!
Periphery just combined 2 of my favourite Genres together. Insanity overload, putting this song on loop along with Zagreus!🤟🤟
Love the repurpose of “The Event” riff for the chorus 🤘🏽🤘🏽
Such a fresh sound. You guys have always been pioneers and continue to do so even in the year of our Lord 2023. Amazing 💯
been listening to yall ever since I was 4 yrs old. keep up the good music and keep going strong.
Misha. That Fredrik-style solo was truly a dead-on and beautiful tribute. Well done guys. Unreal.
My first thought also “that is SO fucking Meshuggah!”
Same
I came here looking for this comment because I so agree!
Mi-shuggah!
Be prepared for Juggernaut to blow your balls off
Try some tesseract next buddy, thank me later
Start with the album altered state
Should also listen to there previous masterpiece song Reptile.
Welcome :)
You've got a lot to discover. Their whole catalogue is just amazing and IMHO this is the absolute best band in this genre. Congrats on finding them!
Damn Spencer is just getting better and better, probably one of the best vocalists in the scene, perfect to go with one of the best guitarists!
That chorus is a creative masterpiece.
This band constantly surprise in the best way possible. They seem to have a bag of tricks that never ends. Congratulations to you all on all your hard work and effort. It has paid off, because I can't stop listening to this song! Periphery fan for life.
Daily listen, Good news Update! Gf has started humming and bobbing her head when I play this so hopefully soon she'll ask "who is this?" Wish me luck boys!
That breakdown at 0:52 and that beat drop is one of the most sick things I have ever audibly and visually witnessed.
same with me but with 3:40
Love when it cuts to the hallway.
@@SixStryng easily my favorite part.
Finally someone who light up this particular breakdown, this one at 0:52 is absolutly filthy, my fav part of the whole song.
and those harmonics are sick
This is amazing. The jazz breakdown gave my inner Candiria child the feel goods. Solo and riffage are crushing.
it was dumb as fuck
@niggy1kanobi1 Check them out. A blend of Hardcore with Rap and Jazz, especially on their older stuff. Not for everyone but at very least interesting.
Candiria still exists!? I saw them open for Meshuggah in NY in 1998! A lifetime ago
@@jccorbett They do and had an album come out as recently as 2016
This song is just incredible the mix the tones the rhythms the transiotions the chorus the sax solo the jug refrences the breakdown it's everything i need in my periphery.
Spencer coming in with them Daryl Palumbo vibes! This is honestly the best song I’ve heard in a long ass time 🙌🏼
Glassdjent 😁👌
Its crazy how good this sounds. The transition to the lounge jazz section felt so natural. As always Spencer sounds incredible. Looking forward to the Little Rock show!
This song has very interesting structure and phrasing. I love it!
We have been inspired by Periphery boys for a while now! This song is definitely a banger. If you dig this you should go check out our latest single "Clipping My Wings"! It's a little different than this sound BUT, you might dig it, stay rad my friend 🤘
Definitely my favorite song of all time and one of the best metal songs ever made. Even though this is "Djent" or Progressive Death Metal, it is done right! It has the right amount of basically...everything! A true masterpiece. This song has really made me a fan of Periphery. Well done.
That piano/jazzy outro LITERALLY needs to be in every song yall do, wtf....wow.
It's so nice to see a reprisal of The Event. It's gotta be the most underrated track on the Juggernauts - which I guess makes sense since it's an interlude, but I've always been mesmerized by its structure and melody. Can't wait for the record! 🤞🤞
THANK YOU! I can't believe I had to scroll like 3 pages before I found this.
Its the way they capture their sound that impresses me you can hear every instrument clearly
Misha told Ola forever ago that he believes they had already reached their ceiling. I think just these two songs prove otherwise lol. They have gotten even better.
Spencer especially has gotten better with every album. His melodies just grip your soul.
I can't wait to hear the whole album. Thank for giving us a taste. Love it!
It's amazing there's fans who actually listen to these people!!!!
First, none of them know the lyrics without reading them out.
The vocalist is confused whether he's Faushi or Bono.
And third, they couldn't sing nor play a lick in live settings without the magic of recording studio softwares.
H uh
@@copyshy Yeah, that's why.
@@PittheadX yippee
haters gonna hate
The chorus gave me a massive jolt of adrenaline, haven't felt that from a song in a while! Can't wait for P5!
The last 2 minutes of the song are so unexpected but yet so interesting. I can't wait to hear the whole album.
Today, I just so much love how the kickdrum pattern evolves in the choruses... and it supports the melody so well, hell, this is drumming at its best!
5:19 Periphery straight up said “Ya like JAZZ?”
