    I’ve just got turned on to using a bait caster. And the first Phenix rod I’m buying is the 6’9” med/hvy. It seems to be a great all around rod I’m looking for. I found a great sale on them and I’m even going to try the 6’9” med spinning while I’m at it.

    Big advocate for Phenix rods until Ark pays you more.
    But the Phenix rods are good rods for Chinese made, but I buy American when possible.

    Great review I just ordered the 7’2” MHF. I was looking for a medium power rod with a little bit of a parabolic bend for throwing cranks and weightless worms and this seems to fit my needs since I heard they run a little light in power. Can’t wait to try this rod out I hear they are light and sensitive. I normally use Exprides and St Croix

    Just picked up the 7’1” MH …. Can’t wait to get back and test it out. I’ll probably try it on TR weightless senkos (I tend to throw these on baitcasting), Pop R’s, smaller walking baits, etc. Gonna try pairing it with a Lew’s Pro Ti reel. That rig should be insanely light and sensitive. Anyway, thanks for the review…. Hopefully I’ll love the rod !

    I recently picked up my first Phenix looking for a magnum crankbait rod, both giant squarebills and ultra deep divers. The X14 in their composite line up fit the bill perfectly. To be fair, I can't say there's much to compare it to. The only other rod I could find anything about for throwing giant cranks was a Megabass rod that has been discontinued. But I am amazed at how easy this rod makes reeling in giant 25+ ft diving cranks. I usually like straight glass for crankbait rods, but I concluded that on deep divers having a bit extra backbone from graphite made sense since the hooks on these baits are big and I may have to occasionally hammer them home a little harder. I was thinking about getting this 7'7" XH as my first dedicated flipping rod. I mostly fish from a kayak, and I don't like super long rods for short casts, and the 7'10"-8' stuff is too much for me. The only other rod that seems to exist that fits similar specs is the Shimano Expride, but I don't want to spend quite that much money on something that I will only use in the dog days. I've also heard that the Exprides are extremely stiff, and coming from a mostly St. Croix background, I like all of my rods to have more spring in the tip. Thanks for the review. Sold me on it.

    I have a 6'9 Medium heavy Phenix feather. I almost exclusively use it for a spinnerbait rod and I absolutely love it. Ive always liked a shorter 6'8 - 6'10 rod for spinnerbaits. Spinnerbait, jerkbaits, swim jigs, all work great with this rod. Phenix isn't my favorite brand of fishing rods. That title for me would go to Dobyns, but they are great rods, and to me Phenix is a bit of an underrated brand of fishing rods.

    Thinking about a 77MH for squarebills, maybe some rattle traps or possibly even some texas rigs. What are your thoughts on that use? Will be mostly from bank and paired with either a tatula or slx xt

    If I could please ask , the 1st model you mentioned 6.9 medium heavy would be good choice for Topwater set up ?? You are saying it is an excellent jerkbait rod, in general jerkbait,Topwater medium is better choice?? Is that specific model close to medium power? Thank you very much

      Not sure if you ordered one yet, but the rule of thumb I follow with these rods is to get one power heavier. I got a medium heavy and I use it for cranks and chatterbaits because it’s too light for jigs and Texas rigs. I got a heavy and it’s more like a medium heavy.

    What’s the 7’7” Medium spinning rod like? I see it’s rated 1/8 to 3/4. Is it stiff like other rods rated the same or does is it more similar to a average medium rod that’s rated 3/16 - 5/8 and more softer in the tip. Looking at picking one up for walleye and striped bass and everything I can throw at it

    • @spencershuffieldfishing2158
      @spencershuffieldfishing2158  2 роки тому

      It’s pretty much dead on. A little lighter than most mediums in my opinion but should be a good fit for what you’re looking for

    Hello great review! Picked up a feather and right away was like I have to get one ! I would use it for chatterbaits 3/14-1 Oz and occasional 2oz swimbaits. I felt the 7’7” H but didn’t have the 7’7” XH on hand to feel … is the XH too stiff for the application I listed in your opinion? Any feedback appreciated. (Spec wise would love the 3oz XH but want that too flex that I like on the H)
