    Love the M1's. One of my favorite rods ever and I have some higher end rods like the poison adrena and exprides. Thanks for the review.

      You are welcome. Oh, yes! The M1 is a fantastic rod. It is still my primary Crappie rod. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

    I bought a M1 7'4 M with help from your original review and it my go to spinning, though quite frankly my only bass spinning rod as I mainly use baitcasters and then ultralight rods for crappie. Great review!

      I am excited to know that I was able to help you make a decision on your only bass spinning rod 😀. Thank you for your kind words. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

    I agree with your assessment of this rod. I have the same one and I choose it over my mega bass windbuster. And for years the wind buster has been the number one go to rod for all around. But the Phoenix M1 I always pick up before that one now

      When we are not "blindsided" (pun intended) by Megabass, Shimano, and Daiwa, there is some great quality equipment that competes with this companies on quality. That M1 is an example. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

    Thanks for another look at the phenix rod. BTW stop at a Dicks sporting Goods in Cranberry PA and they don’t carry any fishing gear! Thanks for putting up with the high temps to give us an update!

      You are welcome. Unfortunately There is a small number of DSG's that no longer sell fishing equipment. There is a store in Roseville, CA that ditched their fishing deptartment back in 2019. I told them I would never have another need to go into that location. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

    Hey Malik that rod is also a great necko rig rod . I think Phoenix has the best components that you can get from a rod company. They also have a fantastic crankbait spinning rod for the small wood cranks I like to throw.

      I definitely agree that Phenix does a fantastic job making some of the best rods in the market. I definitely agree that it is one of the best neko rods one can fish with. I still believe that the rod is a bit under priced for its performance. However, I will not complain, lol. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

    Really like your videos, super helpful!
    How is this rod vs the zodias rod in term of build quality and value?

    • @familybudgetfisherman
      @familybudgetfisherman  5 місяців тому

      In terms of build quality and value, both the Zodias, and the Phoenix M1 are at parity. They are in separate categories of performance so if you were building your arsenal, the overlap between them is maybe 20%. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

    I’ve always liked phenix rods. I only have the feather casting series, but the handle is the most comfortable I’ve felt. Which is really just a fuji sk2 seat. I actually got a torn tendon on my pinky finger from using other seats, lol. Now there’s a first world problem. Their K2 blank is on the short list to build for a personal rod. I think I know what seat to use.

    • @familybudgetfisherman
      @familybudgetfisherman  10 місяців тому

      If I was in the custom rod building business, I would choose the Phenix blanks as well. Also, it’s better to have a first world problem in something much worse, L O L. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

    I have two Phenix M1 7'2" spinning rods. I agree it is the most versatile rod that I own. I have used a lot of spinning rods over the years, I love how the M1 feels in my hands. I have both rods paired with Diawa Tatula LT and MQ 3000s. My only gripe with the rod is the guides. They are cheap and tiny. Phenix should try to address the guides because the rest of the rod is perfect.

    • @familybudgetfisherman
      @familybudgetfisherman  9 місяців тому +1

      Yeah, unfortunately it seems Phenix tried to save a few dollars on Rod production by going with those guides. even with the flaws, it is still the most versatile in my arsenal. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

      Yes, indeed! It is worth every dime given to the checkout person for it! Thankfully deals can be found across the Internet to get 10 to 20% off in the purchase👏🏿👏🏿🎣

    Have you tried the new Exprides?? If so should I get this one I’m a one rod type of guy and I’m not a fan of the Exprides grip I did notice the other Rod they have that has the hump that I really like but this one caught my eye

    • @familybudgetfisherman
      @familybudgetfisherman  Місяць тому

      I have owned the new expride for about a year. I have several videos in the archive from my first impressions, to my 24 or more hours on the water, to comparing it with other rods. Yes the handle is a little funky, but I have gotten used to it. If you keep your eyes and ears open, the M1 will often be sold for a small discount. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

      The Expride B and it’s specialty categories. However, it is much more versatile than the Expride B. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

    Phenix make an ok rod.
    The blanks are great but the guide inserts pop out.
    You spend money you expect the guides to last a couple trips.
    And not pop out mid trip.
    M1 recons and maxims same thing.
    Essex guides are rubbish.
    Id rather stick with known brands.

      Your experience sounds terrible! I don't blame you for being livid! I have not had any of those problems as you have had. I agree that the rod quality should hold up as advertised and inferred. I hope you have a large enough arsenal to be able to set that M1 aside in favor of a rod that adheres to your quality standard.👏🏿👏🏿🎣
