@user-bw8yn8tt9pmounting an optic on the carry handle is the perfect height for chin weld. The ACOG was released in the 80s and designed around the carry handle mount.
Also if you watch video on the hydra mount they say the reasoning behind why it is that tall and why the have the mount in that shape. The reason why they put the laser back if for the weight up front so it your holding you rifle for extended period of time you don't get as fatigued. As someone that uses a peq on a 14.5 piston ar with a suppression and a light, moving the peq over the receiver does help quite a bit with target acquisition.

@@vlun1215 if u have little rail real estate I get it...a mawl would be better but that's a lotta coin..but if u run nods then stop being poor? I dunno...I rock a knights hi rise aka skyscraper for passive..
@@vlun1215 you do realize the bullet trajectory does not match the lasers no matter how close you mount it? We never set laser and bullet impact to meet at any range. Instead we chose 30-60 meter impact to match the distance and offset of the laser to muzzle as the laser is slightly ofset to the side of the muzzle .
This mount was designed for CQB while keeping your neck and head inline with your night vision device/gas mask. You don't really need to worry about height over bore if you're fighting in a building. The mount provides the ability to have a 12o'clock pressure switch when using a C-clamp grip on a shorter rail system that would otherwise not be able to support your WML, IR device, and pressure switch in the same time. If you don't have the rail space to mount your IR device in-front of your pressure switch, then with this you'll be able to mount your pressure switch in the front and your IR device to be raised so your hand is not in the way of your IR illuminator.
Height of bore definitely matters more, the closer the target is. And I mean, in actual close quarters combat, you’re going to be point shooting anyways. I don’t see the need or even appeal for a $550 mount unless you are running a weapon that has zero rail space.

I don’t have one but I have been debating doing something like this and I feel like people miss the point at least for me. The point for me is weight. That was kind of my point, for instance on one of my shorties I run a sandman S and it’s stupid heavy. Adding my D2 up there is just a lot of weight for me on the front end but I’ve been playing with the diving boards from HRF and stuff lately with PEQ15’s and some dbals and the overall feel I have to see is a lot better even with that can on it. Mine is probably 20 ounces now with all the junk in it but idk it’s just an idea. My main NV gun still has a 1.93 T2 and a forward mounted D2 with a Sierra 5 and it’s not too bad even with a light and all but it’ll be nice if my IR-V ever shows up that’s for sure
I believe the separation between optic and laser is so you can change laser batteries without taking the unit off and having to re-zero every time you change batteries. It’s still goofy and from what I understand kind of stolen

First, I love the comments from the white knights. Always a bunch of dudes that wanna come to the rescue of some other dudes because the dudes are the dudes favorite dudes even though none of the dudes have met the dudes. Now, on to what I really came to say. Unfortunately, the other methods you mentioned that people are trying, don’t work. I have an APC9K that has a PEQ and I wanted to move that PEQ rearward in order to get my buttons in the right spot. First I tried a fast mount for my T2 with an Eotech FAST mount for the PEQ. The PEQ still sits too low and is blocked by my thumb when using the switches. Like almost completely and I have small ass hands. So I ended up grabbing a Hydra to try it out. Unfortunately I firmly believe the HOB is straight up retarded and is going to have some weird implications. Haven’t shot it yet, literally got it in the mail yesterday. I am looking forward to doing some testing with it even though my expectations are that I’ll be removing the Hydra after my testing.
For putting this on a pdw I’m assuming you’re using it close in. Question is where do you zero this and now your hold at 5 yards is like 5 inches. You are no longer looking at the threat trying to compensate for your hight over bore ?
Here is my experience driven answer. The reddot is approximately 3.5 inches above bore. The peq15 laser is 2.1 inches above bore. At anything within 30meters, reddot placed on the hairline, bullet impact is between the eyes. That is the instant shutdown triangle. Hope this clarifies the setup for you.
Yes, that is one of the flaws of it. Lasers are always zeroed parallel to the bore (you could zero on the optic when viewed at distance which helps to check for laser zero shifts, but this changes your trajectory based on your optic zero so it can cause a lot of misses if you aren't on your game) Your POA at close range is on the tip of the person's head for a headshot, and this also means in some situations (such as an adversary properly using cover and not in a shoothouse with full silhouettes) with lasers your POA won't even be visible because it will be over the intended target. This is why no one in the past have used risers for lasers, only for optics which project the POA on a single focal plane. Lasers need to be as close to the boreline as possible.
you don't need a laser at all, just passive aim. no point in adding a bunch of bulk, weight and complexity to your setup. get a red dot and a vampire light and call it a day. this shit is pure consumerism, everyone needs the latest piece of gun jewelry to show off on the forums. another thing to throw on the hypebeast pyre. more than half of their products are "swag". as a rule of thumb: don't take a company seriously if their focus is on looking cool. don't buy a gun with stylized cuts, don't buy gear sold in meme camo patterns. you can go on ebay and get a surplus rigger's belt for $30. i guarantee you won't notice a difference in performance. and honestly you don't need a sidearm in the first place, the vast majority of infantrymen have no sidearm at all. it's dead weight. better off carrying more rifle mags.
This guy has no clue what he is talking about, no real world experience. It is obvious just listening to him talk. I love how some people pretend to be experts when they have no credibility at all. Listening to him talk for 30 seconds told me everything I needed to know about their expertise.
It seems like you guys didn’t do your research before putting out this video and went off emotions. The situation between Slade and that group is unfortunate smh 🤦🏽 you’d think people who have gone through hell in back together in out in the battlefield would have some sort of integrity. Sounds like you’re hating honestly lol the battle belt is actually not $400, a simple search on their website and you would of known that, that sight, while it is gimmicky, may work for others. If you’re going to review something, try maybe getting your hands on it and actually using it instead of speculating.
Yeah that’s kind of where I was at with it. GBRS actually made a video on what specific role this fills. It does one job. Not having to push your PEQ back and fight over front hand real estate and IR splash on your hand is a great option. It’s becoming established to use a high riser for passive shooting. That’s fine like it or don’t. Shooters should aim to keep their weapons center of mass over the mag well, this does that. You like it or you don’t but you should at least do your homework. Does it look stupid, sure. Does it do the jobs I just stated, yeah. Is it gonna be great for something outside of cqb, probably not.
This is the funniest shit I've seen in a while. Like watching the tubby little spit bucket boy giving advice to Mike Tyson before the second round. "Trust me the global battle field has been researched." Says the dork E1 swinging his 3inch hog around the kids at the airsoft field.
This dude needs to do his homework lol, the battle belt is 255 not 400, it is actually really innovative, the hydra mount was made with CQB in mind, to be used with a really small weapons platform, higher optic mount reduces how much head movement is required. They were in Development Group and they are doing what they were trained to do, literally developing battlefield solutions that could become extremely popular and practical. Trial and error
“Knowledge transfer” comes off more as a “it’s my way or nothing.” I get they have the experience but they come off like they’re not open to critique or new ways of doing things.
Literally the entire philosophy behind "Knowledge Transfer" is to take what has been built up, tried, tested and true to the fullest degree, and transfer the knowledge acquired from that rigorous process to others so they don't need to go through that process. They have a saying, "Refine then combine," and that directly reflects the entire ideology of these guys. They aren't close-minded, because the things they have to say are only being said in the first place because they know it's what they have spent years striving to understand and solidify. If anybody is open to learning more and refining every bit of your tactical efficiency, it is these guys, the ones who spent nearly their entire careers risking their lives doing exactly that. GBRS are very passionate about knowledge transfer but they are JUST AS passionate about doing it the way that helps YOU come out of every situation ALIVE, even if that means making personal adjustments to gear and figuring out what works for YOU personally. If you actually watched their content then you would know this.
These guys are critiquing DJ Shipley on what mount works right, WTF. It needs to be high for nods. Believe me the guys who designed the hydra have more real world experience then theses tools could even read about.
Their belt is not 400 bucks. Its 250 and thats normal for that type of gun belt as it is high quality. On top of that both guys are ex SEALs of Dev Gru. I have to say your voice sounds very soy boy driven. Now their products some of them are expensive you are right. The mount called the hydra is way exp. But its meant for NVGs and balancing the rifle for what its worth. As a ex teams guy I would set my rifle up differently with a less expensive mount for NVGs and a PEC 15 but hey thats just me. Both these guys are good guys finding their way into the business world of guns, gear and training. The hydra mount is just ridiculous in terms of price.

This guy gets it.
I was gonna talk shit but 101 likes does it for me ....
This video is cringe asf
And serious shade throwing to boot.
10k views in 10 months Yikessssss 😂😂😂
you don't need a laser at all, just passive aim. no point in adding a bunch of bulk, weight and complexity to your setup. get a red dot and a vampire light and call it a day. this shit is pure consumerism, everyone needs the latest piece of gun jewelry to show off on the forums. another thing to throw on the hypebeast pyre. more than half of their products are "swag". as a rule of thumb: don't take a company seriously if their focus is on looking cool. don't buy a gun with stylized cuts, don't buy gear sold in meme camo patterns. you can go on ebay and get a surplus rigger's belt for $30. i guarantee you won't notice a difference in performance. and honestly you don't need a sidearm in the first place, the vast majority of infantrymen have no sidearm at all. it's dead weight. better off carrying more rifle mags.
Both owners are former devgru and every other employee was in a tier 1 unit.
Yay! DWAI podcats makes me happy
Allegedly they stole that design from Slade
Wouldn't be surprised
Educate yourself son
It might be better to stick with making halo gun videos lmfao...
This guy has no clue what he is talking about, no real world experience. It is obvious just listening to him talk. I love how some people pretend to be experts when they have no credibility at all. Listening to him talk for 30 seconds told me everything I needed to know about their expertise.
when did he claim to be an expert lmao
Milsim go hard son. 🤣 But that mount is Hella overpriced.
Thank you for your service.
Mount looks stupid
@@nash694 Just like you said, specific solutions to specific problems. There is no one-size fits all.

This is the funniest shit I've seen in a while. Like watching the tubby little spit bucket boy giving advice to Mike Tyson before the second round. "Trust me the global battle field has been researched." Says the dork E1 swinging his 3inch hog around the kids at the airsoft field.
Ain’t gon lie, y’all lame for this. Literally meme’ing someone’s hard work and research is weak as hell. But anything for content and likes.
They literally stole the design 😂😂😂😂
This dude needs to do his homework lol, the battle belt is 255 not 400, it is actually really innovative, the hydra mount was made with CQB in mind, to be used with a really small weapons platform, higher optic mount reduces how much head movement is required. They were in Development Group and they are doing what they were trained to do, literally developing battlefield solutions that could become extremely popular and practical. Trial and error

“Knowledge transfer” comes off more as a “it’s my way or nothing.”
I get they have the experience but they come off like they’re not open to critique or new ways of doing things.
Buddy you have no CQB experience stop talking negative on it
I'm not your buddy, guy
These guys talking like they have more experience then 2 devgru guys and dozens of sf guys who use the mount 🤡
These guys are critiquing DJ Shipley on what mount works right, WTF. It needs to be high for nods. Believe me the guys who designed the hydra have more real world experience then theses tools could even read about.
Just a comment for the algorithm

Solutions I fucking called it lmfao
Well tbh, it is an Awkward design and also not really a fan of companies like Field craft Survival and GBRS for the simple fact that ain’t interested in training civilians but rather exclusively LEO and military while expecting us to Support 2A and the Service members…bro…did they forget America was founded by Rebels for Rebels? Military and hot shot operators werent even a thing lmao…they really are the Gate keepers lmao
On top of that too, DWAI do have some valid points about the product and its practicality, theres just too many Dick riders for Team guys…did y’all forget that they aint gods too? Lmao
