Love hearing Mike tell Mike that he's doing a great job. I'm sure Mike appreciates Mike and Mike appreciates Mike just the same.
Imagine if they switched.. in that case Mike would appreciate Mike 😂
Mike understands what Mikes going through, and supports Mike through all of Mikes adventures.
Glad to see Matt supports keeping the rear wiper 😋 Those rear wiper delete kits are so dumb
agreed, mine is so useful.
"Evo dorks! You are dead to me!" says Matt whilst polishing his Snap On sockets 😂😂😂😂😂
Matt, I had commented on that rear wiper delete. You have to go all out and get an Evo VIII RS rear window. The RS is the strip down model that has no rear wiper. Look at it this way. You'll clean it up and also save some weight by deleting the rear wiper and the rear wiper motor assembly.
does the RS have different rear carpeting? How will he clean up after deleting the motor assembly for the wiper.
RS ftw.
I’d vote don’t delete. I remember when I had a bugeye wrx I was always jealous that evo’s had a rear window wiper 😅
@@Tdaz250 strange. My bugeye had a rear wiper. Recently did a wiper delete on my Evo V - so much cleaner.
I'm a fan of the rear wiper, good choice keeping it
Loved Matt’s reaction of the first drive. I had the same feeling when I drove mine for the first time. Bought new and sold after 4 years with 16k on the clock. Should have driven it more.
This makes me wanna find my very first car and buy it back and break it ALL the way down and build it back up lol (1994 Honda Accord Coupe LX in Desert Gold)
Excited for the series! #salutefromOhio
Matt get the intake, intercooler and all the intercooler piping from STM along with a boost controller before the tune. With that exhaust set up and those mods it will b a fun car on 93 with stock fuel system.
Even just a hotside upgrade will be a world of difference on these cars, one of its biggest restrictions
Also worth putting a walbro before tune
STM 👌
glad that the car makes you that happy and hope that continues
Evo 9 front number with rear jdm bumper is cake go go go on this
The 3 ligths are because you did not bleed the ACD properly. The proper way is to use ECUFlash and activate the pump from software.
Definitely, even for evoscan its a nightmare to bleed the ayc acd.
YES THIS!!!
Just to circle back, its actually Evoscan that will allow you to bleed the ACD. You will also need a Tactrix cable as well. Sorry for misspeaking.
Just turn the ignition to the on position and floor the gas pedal while someone is cracking the bleeder. This runs the ACD pump so you can bleed the system.
We did this. Bled it manually about 15-20 times. We will be trying the ECUFlash method next.
You need to paint the “diffuser” part of the JDM rear bumper. The OEM color code for that section is “A02” “Eisen Gray”
Note: the tow hook cover for the JDM rear bumper still comes painted from the factory. If you already purchased it from STM any painter should be able to match it no problem.
I have a graphite gray evo and I chose to paint the diffuser black instead of the oem color because it’s looks too similar
@@evan1170 everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but if you’re going for oem+ you probably want to make it look like it came from the factory.
IMO when I see the diffuser part painted black it makes the car look like it has a knock-off JDM rear, and/or the owner couldn’t be bothered to figure out what the color was supposed to be and rushed the job. It just gives me a “hacked together evo” vibe.
Mike is really killing it on the videos Mike. Nice job Mike
The Evo is a special car. I traded a DSM that ran mid 9’s for an Evo that was a shitbox. Evo runs bottom 10’s now with full interior, AC, power steering, full rad, etc.
Just a damn fun car to drive.
After finishing the video, I can definitely say I didn’t expect to see Matt not only praise the car, but that giant ass grin of a child after getting back to the shop. Hell yeah.
Loving the content Matt. As a fellow OCD’er don’t ever listen to anyone telling you just do it and forget it. I’ve been through genetic testing and finally found some meds that are helping. Love the work and keep it up!!!!
Good on you Matt keep the rear wiper on..... I kept mine on in my JDM Evo 8 MR. One of the best decision I have done.
Evo bro the Evo it’s a special thing I’m glad you’re liking it
I’m glad you like it 👍 EVO’s are great cars especially when they are treated the way this one is. Also having owners like yours self it’s a bonus.
I also received the 3 light on the tarmac, gravel snow if the car was cranking but didn't fire over properly the light would come on and after a start it would stay on. But after a quick turn ignition off and start again it was gone.
If you are experiencing the 3 lights on more often its a pump issue. Love the vids...thank you.
Great series. How would you not love an Evo!...had my Evo 6 for 17 years....loved every minute!
“You are all dead to me” shirt for next giveaway 😂
The rear wiper is a keeper! If you actually use the car as a beater/daily youll wonder why more vehicles dont come with them. With the test pipe you can weld in a vibrant ultra quiet resonator to avoid rasp and give the exhaust a deeper tone. STM used to make and sell but you can make one easily. Might i also suggest seat lowering brackets, shifter bushings, and a master cylinder brace? Seating position, crisper shifting, and tighter brakes make the car even more enjoyable.
So glad you are enjoying the Evo! Not sure what I would expect from these things but you looked like you were having a blast.
New you would like it, but a love it is strong words. Especially coming from ownership of multiple gt3 and RS cars ….makes me miss mine
Enjoy it!
I had an 04 Evo and this brings me back… love it!
love it matt! i have a feeling you’re going to like this thing more than you thought
Evo 9 turbo for more power and OEM. For aftermarket people go for AGT, Forced Performance, or Garret. But OE Evo 9 turbo is so much fun!
Well, at least Matt doesn't appear to HATE the car!! This might get more interesting in the future. Too cool!!!
Hearing that exhaust note while you cruise around made me really miss my 1G DSM's. 4G63 is such a unique sounding 4 cylinder.
Granted the Evo and the DSM’s sound completely different for whatever reason. 😂
@@AWD_DSM_FTW Usually yeah, but his Evo definitely sounded more DSM-ish.
Hahaha I have the same feeling whenever I do a coolant flush on my car! Makes me feel like it’s a whole new car!! It’s a special feeling inside, only people who experience it would understand cause it makes no sense in reality lol! Never heard someone say that thought I was the only weirdo!
Very surprised we aren't seeing any ARC stuff on this evo haha thats evo gold. Loving the series! Have an 06 evo 9 MR we have lots of similar parts. Great cars. Have fun
absolutely loving this evo
I glad you enjoyed it cause am loving the evo content hahaha
Judging by the Giggle-Meter, I think Matt might keep it (for a while).
Headed toward 125 K on the '' beater ''
then time to get rid of it
Love the smiles! 👍
Yes evos just overall fun car to drive. Rained today going to work and I gave it like 50% car never feels like itll slide out on you. Confidence, Adam Lz's evo 4 puts lap times as fast as modern day Porsches.. Were talking about a platform from the 90s vs 2023
I like how Mike is subtly saving the badges from the trash.
I love those OEM 17’s. Wouldn’t change a thing on the outside.
Love this! Especially because i missed the boat (again) on E9x
Love the rants 😂 Everything is true
that aggressive wheel thread has been going since I had an 8 and a 10 years and years ago, damn
Weds my favorite wheels. Nice choice 👍
Rear wiper on the Evo is awesome. Leave it alone
Jdm Matt is really enjoying life
Definitely keep the wiper, definitely kept mine on my IX
2 step for those in the drag racing community. The evo needed a few factors to activate 2 step with the factory computer(option is built in from mitsubishi but not activated) Many of them had issues get it to activate so it was a very popular topic..... just throw a stand a lone in it and no issues. A good tune is a must no matter what you change on these cars.
Before we know it Matty’s going to be buying up all the rest of the spare parts for these things…
haha so stoked you got this over a subaru!
I’m really liking it so far.
He likes it. 👏🏼
Mike harpin on Mike about being too close is gold. lol. Skip PPF. Also hoping ya went with Wedsport TC105X. I'd love to drive this car. Waaaay back when they were new I test drove a VII and have sorta regretted not buyin it.
😂 I use to browse the "aggressive whee" thread on evolutionm back in like early 2010s when I had a evo.
Glad you like the car Matt. It’s hard to beat the raw experience they deliver. It’s a bolt on FP turbo and tune away from being OEM +. I’ve got a set of 17x9 +32 weds on one of my cars , they fit well with a 255 tire. Going with a larger tire then 255 or a +22 offset is a lot of work for minimum gain IMO. What spring rate did you decide on for the suspension?
Might want to order an ETS lower intercooler pipe before the dyno. It adds around 15whp/15wtq .
18x8.5jj et 30 CE28N..nengun has those...get the acd pump bled, or maybe it needs to be rebuilt. Kits available online. Also, get an ecu like Haltech 2500. Will bring a new life to the car.
You didn’t bleed your ACD. That’s why all the lights are on
They bled it yesterday on the live stream. Mike may need to re-bleed or replace a bad solenoid as from sitting they can fail.
The ACD lights (tarmac, gravel, and snow) are all on because you guys didn't bleed the system the correct way, like I had told you guys in your other videos..........same thing with the brake bleeding procedure. You guys just did a drain and fluid refill on the ACD system, and it doesn't work that way. The system still has air in it and it needs to be bled the proper way.
They did the pressurized bleeding yesterday at the start of the live stream. Key on full throttle, open valve, purge air and shut valve.
@@DJ_Driven pressurized bleeding of what? the brake system or ACD?
I read all comments.
We bled it 5 times.
@@ObsessedGarage might have to do it some more from the sounds of it then, especially since most of the fluid was drained and you might have more air than you think in the system.
I don't think I've ever seen Matt get giddy over any of the cars he's owned.
I deleted my wiper with the strictly modified plug and it looks as oem as it could. Also jdc customs now has a pretty trick one as well
If you’re still at least ordering the fujitsubo you should try it, I think you’ll like it!
MURAD form Toronto it’s looking amazing🇨🇦👌👋🤘🏻
Matt sounds like John Malkovich when he's ranting about the Evo bro suggestions.
I’d look into RKTi - All high quality titanium products. Definitely need to get rid of the stock intake and intercooler.
Also JDCustoms USA for all things Evo.
Matt, I personally had a kill all wipers delete for my Focus ST, and unfortunately there’s really no better/more flush alternative for a wiper delete. You can make it look like it was never there. I know it’s not the highest quality of whatever you’re expecting, but I don’t think it really can be a nicer material than what is supplied. Just my experience.
Love the Evo content! Which lug nuts did you end up going with?
28:58 that’s how my buddy Mark and I were like way back when he first bought this thing took me for a ride, and his was stock at the time…
After reading the title I know Francis wants all the smoke w/ the Mitsu Boyz
test pipe or a wide open exhaust was good for almost 50hp on my old evo.
Double entendre, Weird guy in Florida….. Guy in Florida.
Mike saying you can't debadge it because people will think it is a regular Lancer made me laugh! 😂
We saw that Autozone stop twice for chrome trim and fake fender vents!!!
AYC is shot hence why you have all 3 lights on. The pump has likely failed. Very common. Rip the whole system out and put an RS diff in there.
All USDM Evos came with the “RS diff” from the factory
Matt I hate to see anyone fill a car using a 5 gallon jug and tipping it over. They always leak. Take a look at a “jiggler hose”. You can put the jug on the trunk with a towel underneath and it will gravity fill the tank and suction the jug dry.
I wish Matt would do this more. Buy old cars make them Great again!!
Redline Tuning makes a hood strut conversion that has specific kit for the EVO hood.
Should talk to Chris Goorbarry about that Wiper delete it is def not "just a sticker"
evo 8 is a dream car of mine, one day guys, ill have a clean evo like this one, one day #evobroforlife
The rear diffuser/lower part is painted a dark metallic grey from factory, its actually not black.
Get er tuned before WOT!
Mannn you’ve gotta out this bad boy on some regamasters, would be so gangster
'Gangster' isn't my usual spec.
@@ObsessedGarage switch it up one time
I had the same problem with the hood struts on my honda fn2,i solved it by using just one💁it doesn't lift the hood now
I miss Brewster GT3
Go with dresmond from performance destination to tune it.
Goggle Nose Chopped EVO - This is the way 😂
🔥
Was the "killallwipers" not a blank glass plug??? 🤷♂ love the videos!
It was a piece of garbage shiny plastic made by a fourth grader.
Are you going to install a short throw shifter?
Probably not
I have a feeling this is going to be like the Corvette build...
Nothing will ever be like the Corvette.
Someone in Australia did a video about a test pipe vs high flow cat on the MKIV Supra including dunk sheets and there was barely a difference between the two.
A high flow cat will also help take some resonance out, I’d keep one on myself.
Dont buy that at all.. High flow cats cause restrictions..test pipes do not.. Even on Turbo cars, you will see the difference even if its small.
@@JonHop1 If you don't believe a dyno as a way to measure how much difference it makes, I'm very curious to know how you conduct the same experiment? But you basically agreed with me, because it's a small difference in the power range that this Evo will be making.
Here's the video I was talking about:
ua-cam.com/video/Ulw0UX3iPm4/v-deo.html
This thing needs a big single setup
Cinnamon rolls Mike
yo hit up cleetus mcfarland. He wants to do a house-garage thingy & you might be able to do what he wants/needs
Tommyfyeah should be over seeing this build
Don’t let that turd or any of those LZ dipshits get near this car.
The kill all wipers delete isnt a sticker. Its a glass bung that you glue in and it sits flush. Theres literally nothing else you could use. Its better than the other rubber bungs that you can buy elsewhere. Other than buying new glass without the wiper hole theres nothing better.
Matt needs to buy the RS rear glass and be done with it! That's what I would do if it starts to bother me.
All three ACD lights on mean the system has detected a fault
They need to bleed the acd system properly and the lights will go away
I commented on the video they changed the fluid that it needs to be bled. I guess not enough people said it and they didn’t catch it
@@nodekapunk lol... who's the Evo dweeb now?
@@nodekapunk I told them also and they read it and replied...........but obviously didn't do it
They bled the evo ACD yesterday at the start of the live stream.
If i see people recommending the killallwioers kit i would have said no it was junk. I have a plastic plug that was $15 that i recommended on a few past videos but probably not up to your standards. Also the +22 offset wheels poke imo amd youd have to roll your fenders which is ass. The wedssports 17x9.5 is a +32 offset. Not +35. If you get 17x9 +35 you will have to use spacers.
What is the absolute best wheel size combination without having to roll the fender in an 18 in? I'm running low racing CE28 limited edition time attack wheels in 18x8 with 30mm backspacing no issues but think I could go to18 x 9-in with the right backspacing.
@dj8010 I'm not sure. I'm not a fan of 18s on a Evo.
I have 18x9.5 +35.
@ObsessedGarage Okay I'm not sure of the 18" sizing.
You need lower seat brackets stm tuned they r cheap
3:41 how does one “overnight” parts from Japan? That’s some Bezos level delivery service!
It's a movie reference, for all those JDM bros.
Need evo 9 bumpersssssss
Talking all that shit about us evo dorks! Sure was smiling like an evo dork on that first drive😂❤
