    I honestly didn't think you could nail that speech, but you pulled it off. From what I recall, Geddy and Neil had no clue he was going to go do that. He must have practiced it for a while, however... and as much of an extrovert as Alex is, that still must have taken some guts. And he didn't flinch it all while delivering it - no embarrassment, no nervousness, no stumbling - perfectly executed, extremely brave and a speech for the ages... all without saying any actual words other than BLAH - brilliant!

      It was actually 100% spur of the moment. Al had a speech, which he took out of his pocket near the end. He decided on the way up to the stage to just do what he did instead.

      I thought it was a great speech, R and R HOF was 14 years too late inducting Rush, and Alex's speech was kind of a f*** you to them imo.

    I don’t know when this was originally posted, but any Rush fan worth their salt, understood what Alex was saying and your loose translation captured it true enough. Leaving my Rush fandom aside for a moment, watching the R&RHOF every years, this was one of the greatest acceptance speeches ever delivered, and done without actually uttering a more than a single word, slang or expression. Nice job!

    When he holds his hands up around 50 seconds he’s saying “the rock and roll hall of fame!” It follows the syllables.

      Agreed. Not "we made it big" but "the rock and roll hall of fame" but the interpretation pucks up as if he said the HOF line rather than the "we made it line". Anyway, a great interpretation nonetheless.

      @@Taylor_Stanley They really were, in fact when Geddy whispers to Neil, he’s basically saying something like “I’ll hit him on the head with the award, you drag him offstage”. They were so pissed off and let him know, but a few days later they were getting emails of people saying how much they loved Alex’s speech and both of them apologised to him.

But I can see how it could be interpreted as making a mockery of the whole event. Especially after Geddy and Neil’s heartfelt speeches

    I am definitely not alone but I thought it was pretty clear to begin wiith. I think when the translation said that they made it big that may be him saying they were first eligible to be inducted. Either way. Amazing video. :)
