I honestly didn't think you could nail that speech, but you pulled it off. From what I recall, Geddy and Neil had no clue he was going to go do that. He must have practiced it for a while, however... and as much of an extrovert as Alex is, that still must have taken some guts. And he didn't flinch it all while delivering it - no embarrassment, no nervousness, no stumbling - perfectly executed, extremely brave and a speech for the ages... all without saying any actual words other than BLAH - brilliant!
It was actually 100% spur of the moment. Al had a speech, which he took out of his pocket near the end. He decided on the way up to the stage to just do what he did instead.
I don’t know when this was originally posted, but any Rush fan worth their salt, understood what Alex was saying and your loose translation captured it true enough. Leaving my Rush fandom aside for a moment, watching the R&RHOF every years, this was one of the greatest acceptance speeches ever delivered, and done without actually uttering a more than a single word, slang or expression. Nice job!
Spot On! Strangely enough I feel like I understood most of it on the first viewing. His performance was so brilliant it actually got through without words.
Nice job, brother! Perfect translation of the best RRHOF speech in history. AND...Alex gave them no words at all to use in their publication...Lerxt, and Rush as a whole- originality at its finest.
I was there as well although I was LMAO the entire time I think he nailed it spot on! Was great to relive it just now in subtitles and am again LMAO! Great speech & one for the ages!
You are very right my friend, while you three never needed this acknowledgement, we your fans take glory in it. If you or Geddy ever see this, I hope you really understand who and what you are to your fans. I do believe that Neil always understood. Blessed Be.
That was great! Thank you for that interpretation. I was fortunate enough to have been present at the Induction & just as I was then & am again now LMAO through all of it!! I have to say that is pretty much what was the substance of what Alex was communicating! Spot on!! Thanks for sharing!!
Agreed. Not "we made it big" but "the rock and roll hall of fame" but the interpretation pucks up as if he said the HOF line rather than the "we made it line". Anyway, a great interpretation nonetheless.
I think I remember reading an interview where Geddy said he and Neil were debating whether or not they should hit Alex over the head with one of their awards. Or something like that.
@@MusicissuperiorEVHROX316easier to ask for forgiveness than permission, I guess lol. From what I’ve heard, Geddy and Neil were genuinely upset with him initially
@@Taylor_Stanley They really were, in fact when Geddy whispers to Neil, he’s basically saying something like “I’ll hit him on the head with the award, you drag him offstage”. They were so pissed off and let him know, but a few days later they were getting emails of people saying how much they loved Alex’s speech and both of them apologised to him.
@@MusicissuperiorEVHROX316 I can sort of understand! In hindsight the speech is brilliant and perfectly captures the goofy guys the three of them really are lol. But I can see how it could be interpreted as making a mockery of the whole event. Especially after Geddy and Neil’s heartfelt speeches
I am definitely not alone but I thought it was pretty clear to begin wiith. I think when the translation said that they made it big that may be him saying they were first eligible to be inducted. Either way. Amazing video. :)
I want to know what Geddy whispers in his hear. Probably some version of “okay that’s enough, Alex” 😂😂 You can tell Geddy and Neil are very uncomfortable
Well, guitar playing is non-verbal communication, and we knew he was 'pretty good' at that already... *Excellent* translation, though - wouldn't change a thing!

2 polite 2 say it out loud ? Paul Stanley said it well

@@Scott31815 Gee, thanks for chiming in.
@@Scott31815 He admitted Geddy and Neil wanted to kill him! 😂😂 I could sense the tension! 😆😆
I thought it was a great speech, R and R HOF was 14 years too late inducting Rush, and Alex's speech was kind of a f*** you to them imo.

actions speak louder than words .... the best speech ever thankyou for the translation

He honestly couldn’t have said it better....
Your command of Blah is very impressive. Awesome job!
The high pitch geddy blah was the vest part
my favourite part is his impression of Geddy singing - and his wife's face, which seems to be saying "I love you but you're insane" 😂
Was in the audience that night and that is almost verbatim what I heard. Great translation.

how did you get in the audience and why
@@shallex5744 They released a bunch of discounted tickets a few days before the event and I got a couple.

OUTSTANDING!
That was as slick and to the point as "Spirit of the Radio's" commentary on the integrity of music vs glittering compromises in the music industry.

You nailed it Eric
I get chills from it man
It's a great speech with the meaning behind it
So...the greatest speech of all time?
Absolutely perfect translation into English. Well done!
For someone like me who doesn’t know blah blah language, this is an absolutely perfect translation🤣. I love it. Thank you.

Greatest speech, EVER
Thank you SO much. I reckon you nailed every single BLAH!
His speech brought the house down. So perfect. I'm allowed to get misty-eyed, right?
That sounds like the concert i saw in Phx AZ and walked out after 2 songs! I love this good stuff!
Brought to you by Bob Loblaw
Cool one!
Alex was gold......... perfectly said
0:25 That's the Tom Sawyer riff! Genius.
Immediately followed by Neil's drumming. Nicely done.
the perfect youtube video doesn't exi-
greatest speech ever
Alex has ALWAYS been fearless and funny. Also - a GREAT guitarist and composer.
When he holds his hands up around 50 seconds he’s saying “the rock and roll hall of fame!” It follows the syllables.

Thank you for the subtitles. I don't speak Canadian
Excellent I'm always too busy laughing when I watch his speech to sit there and try to figure it out. 😂
'I like wine. It tastes good, and it makes me feel good'
Alex Lifeson, probably.
Great translation, I do believe!
thank you for the translation!
And this is the one speech I will always remember. Blah blah. 🙏🏻👍🏻
Outstanding.
Perfect translation. Alex would be happy.
Best. Speech. Ever. ♥️✌️
Love it, the translation makes perfect sense.
Brilliant...
Turns out best speech ever.
His wife looked amused, yet horrified at the same time 😁
Wonderful!
That was amazing. I actually feel bilingual now. That speech now makes perfect sense.
Perfect! Well done!
RUSH : never to be repeated
I funkin love you Alex Lifeson!!! 🤟
Well done on the translation!

here we can see that neil is almost crying trying not to laugh to maintain his serious man position
"blah blah blah blah"
Liferson, Alex 2013
Brilliant speech from the "musical scientist" of the best group ever. I would love to know what Geddy & Neil are saying in the background there
Probably - He has been drinking wine, shoulda seen this coming.
I think I remember reading an interview where Geddy said he and Neil were debating whether or not they should hit Alex over the head with one of their awards. Or something like that.
@@cghothands Geddy looked like he was ready to clock him. He had that "I wanna hurt you!" grin. 😂
Watch the recent Shredding with Shifty interview with Alex where he recounts how pissed off Neil was with him after delivering the blah blah speech.
Us fans knew exactly what he was saying. He's the only one that could pull that off. So happy they got in while Neil was still alive.
spot on
He's so stinking CUTE.
AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Spot on.
Geddy and Neil wanted to strangle him.
But after watching it a few times, they realized that it was genius.

My favorite mumbling mime.
This and Steve Miller's rant are my favorite moments in this Rock & Roll Hall of Shame.
Good Lerxstian translation
Perfect
Nailed it!!
May be my all time favorite acceptance speech.
Best band ever, great job xD
Damn, I think you basically nailed that translation haha
The only way this would've been better is if Dirk and The Professor started doing the talking hands bit from "The Spirit of Radio" behind Lerxst.
Accurate translation!
