Todd Bennett lived next door to me in the 80s when I was a child, I still have a frisbee he gave me. I was sad to hear he had passed away.
Thanks that was great to see again. We have had some fantastic 4×400 squad's over the years. Phil Bown was fantastic, what a run.
Todd Bennett was a relay star!!!
RIP 😔😔😔
Best 4x400 relay specialist of his generation 🏅🏅🏅
Todd Bennett and exceptional 400m runner. The greatest of his physical stature.
@@patomalley55 ♥️🏅
Phil Brown turned into a different athlete with the baton in his hand. He always seemed to have great tactical brain outside of regular 400m lanes. He was running close to a "flying" 44 seconds leg time as an anchor sometimes!
Yes Phil Brown was an awesome anchor relay runner
Phil Brown, what a champion.
Phil Brown with a relay baton was next level. 400 metre flat and he didn't do much but in the relay unreal.
Great running especially the late Bennett to put us in that position
Fantastic England especially Todd Bennett and Phil Brown!
Gary Cook ran a good 2nd leg too
Came to watch it again after learning of Rick Mitchells passing. I remember this well. Thanks for the inspiration to get out and train again.
remember chatting with Rick via the interwebz. "Like a fine wine"
Thanks for uploading. I've not seen this relay for 34 years lol

Fantastic race..got to watch it again
cooky had a great run there
He always did a great job putting us back into a race.
Wow what a huge crowd for the Commonwealth Games
what a team, what a race ----- and what a WIN
Commentator clearly forgot the name of the English athlete on the last lap - Phil Brown.
The great Phil Brown. Say no more !
Phil Brown. Will never forget the first time I saw him - such a beautiful runner.
The late, great Rick Mitchell.
What is it with commentators from countries other than England? Apart from the Australian athletes hardly any of the others were mentioned. They all need lessons from the late, great David Coleman or the present Steve Cram!
Yup poor commentary
What a great race and thankfully no david jenkins.
A 50 second lap in this level of competition would have an athlete shot by the media and public alike. I assume the runner was not well versed in 400m. But you could expect a 47 sec lap from even a 100m sprinter.
UnSubRocky They mis-timed the first leg and credited him with a 44.10 which would have been the low altitude world record at the time. More likely, the first two legs were run at around high 46, low 47.
@@mrasian96 I get what you mean. They should have added on 2 seconds for the first runner and knocked off 2 seconds for the second runner's lap.
Such biased commentry
