God it's funny for me to think that Todd Bennett on the GB Team was a former rival of mine at the end of his Athletics career and at the time I never knew he had an Olympic silver medal in the bag and this is the race that he got it in. RIP Todd you were a Gent and thanks for the motivation u gave me once u noticed I was a young keen Athlete. I won a bunch of national titles but in Ireland as I moved over there after my time in Portsmouth England 🇬🇧🏅🏃‍♀️🇨🇮🙏☘

Great post. Todd was a great athlete. The Great British 4x400m history started in this era, and what some people might not know is that Todd Bennett actually held the 400m indoor world record for a while in the mid 1980's.

@thehalfeatendoughnut1798 funny you should mention his indoor running, I recall an indoor championships, don't remember the distance, but he was in such good form running that he was stumbling because the front runner wasn't quick enough, needless to say off the bend he flew past him, its my abiding memory of him...RIP Todd..

In high school in Germany, on a USAF base, I ran a 51.1 quarter mile, and was the slowest of the four runners on our team. We ran a 4x440 at 3:17, which set the Department of Defense Overseas Schools record that stands to this day. This was 1973. Having said that..they convert to meters just a couple of years later!

0:35 Back then they measured high jump in feet and inches in US (TV)? 7' 5 1/4" (=2,267 m). Even that is incorrect. I guess the bar was lying at 2,27 m. Oh man! lol! The USA and its strange measurement system.

Great run by US but awful commentary they hardly new their own athletes and only mentioned the other teams by their nationality. I recommend the BBC commentary team they do their research.

Couldn't stand the black commentator. Always talking about how the athletes wouldn't care because they'd be in the lead by the next handoff. It was like no one else was in the race but the Americans to him, even though Nigeria and Australia gave them a run for their money.

Once again, American commentators are terrible. Great Britain wasn't mentioned until the home straight when they came in to win the silver medal. Apart from the USA, Nigeria and Australia and GB I'm pretty sure there were 4 other teams but not a mention of any of them. Such poor commentary.
