- Watch me give my little girl her first dreadlocks!! Partials till she is bigger!!!
There are a lot of ways to dreadlock hair but this is the way I use and prefer. I ever use any wax, I use the Twist and Rip, Backcoming and Crochet Method together. The Twist and Rip and Backcombing creates the loc and the Crochet Method cleans it up and gives it the appearance of a more mature loc instantly.
Making locs is not rocket science. It is simply creating knots in your hair so do not be too critical of your work. Trust yourself, trust the process... and trust that little loc! It takes practice and it gets easier, and with time you will even get quicker.
My dream is to be able to teach others. More importantly, teach them where I came to to learn. I believe everyone should be able to have locs and loc extensions even if chronic pain prevents them from sitting in a dreadmakers chair for hours on end. Or if they live too far from one or if they cannnot afford to go to one. That was me, all of the above, plus I wanted to be able to say that I created them, there is a lot of pride attached to that.

I started my journey 7 months ago, and since I put extension in to compensate for the shrinkage I've been so happy I'm jealous of myself.

I use a similar method for dreadlocking,but have never tried a latch hook before (just a 0.6mm hook). I'm very curious now!

We call these fairy kiss locks in Scotland back in celtic days as little ones got fuzzy bed head it was twist n rip that was used to lock them in a proper celtic kisslock xxx
Thankyou finally a way i can have extensions after yrs of wanting them but my hair is down to my butt & so fine now i know how to do them I'm thinking of crocheting extensions up higher to thicken them up I am 60 and i'm done with tangling hair I've wanted them since i was 18 also but ppl would say stuff so I wouldn't get them & now i dont care

I already started mine but they are so bad :( but I love how tou show how to do them. I actually used the hook abs stabbed in and out of lower half and learned that wasn't good for my thin hair. I think I'll buy some hair abd practice this technique. Thank you so much for showing us how you do things and letting us follow along on your journey.

Very rarely, do I meet someone that's named Violet. I'm 65 years old & my name is Violet. It was my grandmothers name & it was passed on to me. It sounds so much prettier when you say it. I used to hate my name, but as I have grown older I have came to like it more. It's an old name that I believe may be making a small come back.
Your little girl is beautiful & the name seems so much more beautiful for her. And just really suits her! I suppose my reason I didn't like it when I was a child was that I was a tomboy of sorts & didn't care for such a girly name. I wanted a boys name, but as I said I came to like it, because it's not the norm & different. And different is always my normal.
How do you pronounce your name? I ask because you said it sounds so much prettier the way she says it. I’ve only ever heard it pronounced that way (Vy-let).

It just sounded prettier the way it was spoken I suppose.. There is a bit of a Hillbilly draw in my ppl. So maybe just the way they say it..

I tried to start my own locks last Sunday, but I've really struggled to get them to lock all the way down to the bottom... As in my hair comes to my hips but the locks stop just past my shoulders.
I don't suppose you have any advice or a video where this is mentioned?

I can't figure out how to use the hook after a million videos😔
Slide the hook through the middle of the loc, scoop so you grab hold of some hairs and pull them to the inside of the loc - not all the way through, then push the hook through again to snag some more hairs and pull them into the loc. After you've done that four or five times, pull the hook out and move to another spot
I, personally, would not do that to a child because I think this hair style will ruin her "young" hair especially adding extensions. Hair extensions will stress the hair follicles of such a young child.
She had them for 6 months 😉
