Imagine if we had a few thousand Tim's all preaching weekly to millions of people around the world, we might finally get the upper hand and start to erode the scourge that is organized religion.
This was the BEST reaction to this song I've ever seen. I appreciate you seeing the humour in his lyrics and not taking offence. Really enjoyed this, thank you.
You have to realise that tim was told a story by a guy at a bar then went home and wrote a full opera piece and hired the sydney opera house and got one of the most famous orchestras on the planet to play the piece just to shit on this dude and his mom.
@xPlaguefearx Yeah? I'm more than sure he did do it there too. He'd defo be able to get a crowd to fill it back in Oz. Amd. he defo deserves that, too. The only reason I know this is Riyal Albert Hall in London and actually The Heritage Orchestra (Not BBBC as I maybe said) is bcos I've been in it quite ages times for different concerts and alike. This was filmed in 2011 for the BBC COMEDY PROMS. I actually recognise the seating, balcony, how they've had to set up the stage mainly bcos of the large area kimda behind the stage. (Bcos of shape of tje RAH and what's inbuilt into the actual building behind where the stage is he's performing on. At the end u may hear him say 'its miracle' a few secs after its finished. As he went on to say this was the very 1st time he'd managed to perform this song the whole way through without messing it up at all! I think thatcnay have been the one and only take the comedy proms happened. Obviously, u havevthebusual Orchestral/classical music Proms there every year still. I.wasmt saying anything to diminish his performance or ANY lf the amazing venues Tim has played. I believe the 'Pope Song' is filmed.in Oz tho although I'm not sure where though, but he shouts out the SSO (Sydney Symphony Orchestra)during that performance. So it Could be the 'Pope.somg' filmed in the amazing Sydney Opera House goon by shout out to the SSO 😜😘😉😉😉
I love how at the beginning, just before the song began, you were in full agreement of the idea that it couldn't be anything other than a miracle, what happened. Then, over the course of his song, Tim proceeds to systematically tear down those walls and show exactly how it most likely is anything but a miracle. The lesson here is, think about it before deciding on what it is. =P
Tim Minchin is a genius. He plays the piano like he’s breathing air, his command of the English language, his critical thinking all comes together to shape whatever message/social commentary directed at us in a way that we can all understand.
Your laughter is infectious!! Really enjoyed this reaction! Tim had some troubles with the record companies- they told him his material wasn’t deep enough and didn’t appeal to the teenage market- so he wrote a song called “Dark Side” as an “up yours” to the record industry’s treatment of him. “Dark side-awesome version” is the one to check out next !! ❤️
Really appreciate how despite the fact that Neal is a believer he will still appreciate the comedy, delivery and message of this bit even though it is pretty hostile towards his own worldview. As a bit of a heathen myself I rarely put myself in his position and consume "pro-religion" media, and I think it takes a lot of self-assurance and courage to do that and without submitting to the gut instinct to trash it. Basically, if everyone was as open as Neal is here the world would be a much better place!
Going through another crippling anxiety attack, I watched this at 4 am here, and I CRIED laughing, your reaction is just priceless, man! Thank you so much, you helped me. Greetings from Iran 🙋🌺 (PS: Tim's video is my all-time favourite, I'd love a m.u.s.l.i.m version of it played at my funeral in front of my devout parents 😁)
Makes me happy to see people are discovering Tim Minchin, must have been 15 years ago when I first came across him and he was unheard of, Saw him live last year and he's even better now.
My absolute favourite of Tim's songs, loved your reaction. So funny how you agreed it had to be a miracle then as the song began you realised Tim didn't. Your a good sport and can see how it looks from a non Faith view and still find the song funny!
