It so important to spend time with your loved ones. Make memories. Laugh, argue, cry, whatever, but spend that time. That’s what this time of year is all about. Tim nailed it with this song. ✌️
The 2021 version was just after his dad had died, and recently, the last couple of months he did another performance, the day after his mum died. I am Australian and Tim is a hero of mine. There are very few people in this world that I see them like that.
Narrow minded religious people ask why I, as an atheist, celebrate Christmas. This is why. The true reason for the season. My daughter is 31 and 9000 miles from home this Christmas. This song always hits home.😭
I sent this to my niece who is away from home for Christmas for the first time. I have no babies of my own but I can fully understand that a sense of love and safety comes from family ❤
Tim's mum died a few weeks ago. He then did this song as his encore after telling audience his mum had died the day before. The show went on when everyone would have understood if hed cancelled
So sad. Probably therapeutic on some level for him to do this song. A similar thing just happened with Sam Tompkins. His Dad committed suicide and Sam continued his tour. Everyone would’ve understood if he cancelled, but instead he played the biggest show of his life and dedicated his song ‘Hero’ to his Dad. There’s video out there of this. It’s really tragic and beautiful. Hug your loved ones. Make it count. These days will all be gone one day. ✌️
This captures the feeling of Christmas for many Australians. Christmas of course being in the summertime, and as an isolated island nation where family who are outside the country feel especially far away out over the ocean somewhere - or should I say "over the foam."
@@secondhandreactions It's a line from a classic Australian song - I Still Call Australia Home by Peter Allen (the Boy from Oz). "but my heart lies waiting over the foam, I still call Australia home." ua-cam.com/video/7R06UeF2Dk4/v-deo.html. It's like an unofficial Australian anthem. While you're at it, watch Tenterfield Saddler. Iconically Australian. ua-cam.com/video/ogA-B1MRBkQ/v-deo.html. It's a bit of an autobiographical song about his family and his life. The "girl with an interesting face" is Liza Minelli.
One of Tim's deep hitting songs... Your cat Felt the Emotions in the room and wanted to comfort... Such a Lush cat! you're lucky to have a Being so attuned to your emotions, to comfort you through this Deeply hitting song! :) Tim isn't just a Musical Comedian... he's a Genius Musician!
I'm addicted to Tim react videos. Thank you so much for the playlist! If you are looking for more, can I suggest "Play it safe" written to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Sydney opera house (proper music video is icing on the cake!) And for another amazing love song "if I didn't haveyou"
Perfect response to the meaning of the song. Great reaction vid! On a side note, I admit, I judge people by how they treat waiters and waitresses, and how they treat animals, especially cats. So kudos to you both, imo. That is one one beautifully affectionate cat. Love how they demand to be centre of affection, no matter what you're dong - Like sitting on front of the TV:)
Man, this song got me right in the feels. It’s gonna land even heavier this year as we just lost my Mother-in-law. I’m telling you, hug your loved ones when you can. It’s cliche’ to say, but tomorrow really isn’t promised. And that’s Aku. He’s such a good boy. My wife runs a cat rescue. Aku and his Mom are who got us started doing it. She’s rehomed 100s of cats now. I couldn’t agree with you more. We’ve seen the best and the worst of humanity since she started the rescue. “How you treat the weak is your true nature calling” - Jane’s Addiction ✌️
@@secondhandreactions Sorry for your loss. We all face that burden eventually if we live long enough. Big chin scratches to Aku - he reminds me of the first cat I lived with as a child. Just really loves good humans innately. My sister-in-law rescues cats also. She's a fantastic person, so I see your wife in her. That's a really great quote that I didn't know of and I'll remember. I remember that band name and, searching that up jeez they sound like 'A Perfect Circle", which came years later. But yeah, punching down is evidence of weakness, of which I think should be obvious to all. Meow!:)
Thank you Sue and Clay so much for doing this song, and for your heartfelt reactions. I'm always pumped to see others respond as I did when first hearing it. Tims White Wine in The Sun and Paul Kellys How to Make Gravy are 2 emotional xmas songs that Australians relate to especially those away from their families at that time of year. Thanks for the great reaction he wrote that song for his new daughter when he was working in the UK and missing his family back home sometimes he used to get quite emotional when playing it.. The 21st December in Australia for many has unofficially become gravy day you should do the double and listen to that one as well the song itself is good but you need to pay attention to the words..Paul Kelly re released How To make Gravy when Australias borders were closed due to covid he asked people who were seperated from their families to send in clips for the video and emotionally its probably the best one to watch (2021 version)
Wow. There’s some symmetry here. I had a friend named Paul Kelly who passed away a couple years ago. Paul and some others have been on my mind a lot this season. Weird to see his name show up in the comments here at this moment. I know you mean someone else, but wow. That hit me like a ton of bricks. You can be sure I won’t forget this suggestion. The holidays do get more sentimental as the years go on. It’s sad that some of those days and people are gone. I’m happy to still be here and it’s important to remember that now will one day be a time we all look back on too. Hug your loved ones a lot. Keep your friends happy. Make it count. Merry Christmas. Thank you for the suggestion ✌️
@@secondhandreactions Sorry I reminded you of the loss of your close friend I have also seen a couple of close friends pass in recent years. We are probably pretty lucky to be able to enjoy xmas with our families their a lot of people in the world who wont get that opportunity. I completely relate to this song. I think Tim nailed exactly how I feel. It’s honestly nice to know I’m not alone. It’s all about spending time with our loved ones while we can. That’s the most important component to the holiday. ✌️
Since we recorded this reaction I think I’ve listened to this song 100 times. I get choked up every time he says ‘I’ll be seeing my Dad’. Lost mine in 2010. He was gone too soon. It used to be routine to see him, now it’s impossible. It was such a simple thing that has so much importance that I didn’t realize at the time. Hugged your loved ones when you can and appreciate the time you have together. Make memories. Thats what this time of year is really all about. ✌️
