    I use the Canon R8 professionally and have recorded like 100 Interviews with it. It never overheated my "biggest problem" with the R8 would be Battery life while filming, even though that's easily fixable with a V-Mount Battery. The only thing that is not fixable and what annoys me a lot is that I do not have a joystick like the r6 and r7 with it to choose who to focus on, always have to use the touchscreen for that.

      Sure! As far as overheating goes, it all depends on the settings. I was trying to push it to its limits. But the lack of a joystick can definitely be annoying.

    easily resolved. fan external. dummy battery or power bank or just plug it into the wall at a studio. trade offs are real but so is the solutions

      Hello friend, I don't agree with you now, who sets the camera at 60p without stopping? I record at 4k 60 in clog3 10 bits and I stop and it doesn't heat up, don't speak ill of that camera, it cost me 1,100 dollars and for that price it is a good miniature film camera, don't ask the machine for more R8, greetings and kiss the ass

      @@SeguraCine 😂 I appreciate it. I also use it and like it for the money it’s excellent but the trade offs are still real.

    Hey now good thanks for the video. I'm on the fence between the r7 and R8. The book of what I'm using it for is photo. Meaning heavily on astrophotography. I like the r7 for two main reasons. ASPC crop sensor for extended reach and the high megapixel sensor for regular cropping. On the other side of the coin, the R8 has a lower megapixel full frame sensor and better late gathering capability. But with the lower resolution. And full frame I'm going to have to crop even more. I understand that a bigger sensor equals bigger pixels for more light gathering capability. In your opinion is it that big of a difference? The higher megapixel extended reach ASPC is definitely a big draw for me . But I don't feel like that's worth the trade-off if the R8 is only marginally better at like gathering. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

      Because Astro photography is mainly at night with long exposures, the larger of the R8 is going to be a lot better for that.

      @@johnmorrisproductionsthanks! So there is a really big difference in light gathering between the R8 24 meg sensor and the R7's 32. meg sensor? I really appreciate your feedback. There's tons of information on there and everyone states the same thing about a full frame sensor being able to gather more light but I really couldn't find anything more specific about the real world difference between a higher resolution R7's sensor and the R8. I'm currently shooting with a 24meg EOS SL3 so both the r7 and R8 are an absolute upgrade.

      Absolutely! It’s 2-4X better in low light. Definitely the better choice for low light, but you will need full frame lenses.

      @@johnmorrisproductions thanks again that seriously great news.. totally understand about full frame lenses. I'm using a Canon EF 200mm f/2.8L II USM for deep space objects and a Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 IF ED UMC Lens for widefield stuff like Milky Way. I'm getting a mount adapter with a drop-in filter cartridge space in the side for IR cut and light pollution filters.

      Could you elaborate a little more? What kind of editing software are you using? What kind of issues do you have?

      @@johnmorrisproductions Thank you 🙏 I believe it's the compression of the files. It doesn't matter if I use DR, PP or SV. I don't have any problems editing the files of my Lumix S5. So I think it's the Codec on the R8?

      That’s interesting, I think there might be an option to change what type of format you record in in settings somewhere on the camera.

    great video, I do wedding and car videos, I'm looking forward to sell me r10 for the r8 for the low light capabilities, since it's almost as good as sony's full frame, I have a question, does the R8 have a crop mode in 1080 video like 1.6x crop, I have the Sigma 18-35 1.8 and I hope I can use it on the r8, and does the 1080 footage look great? anyways thanks

    • @johnmorrisproductions
      @johnmorrisproductions  9 місяців тому +2

      Awesome! The R8 does have a crop mode for 1080 and 4K, it won’t look as good as the full frame, but it’s good enough to use if you still want to use that lens.
