@@cupio-stardust ok, and if I'm a big youtuber by the time this comes out, I'll give your show a review video and put the link to the show in the description.
@@Jakstalgia here is a video to catch you up to speed with the main stuff, tho it isn't by any means all there is in the series'lore. Kirby has literally the best and most in depth and interconnected lore, and I'd say even one of if not the most messed up too, out of any main Nintendo series. (Zelda and others included since each game is essentially self contained aside incredibly tiny things here and there) ua-cam.com/video/eX4pjt0pzUI/v-deo.html
I think the mayority of the problems with the movie could be resolved if they made a regular 12 episode anime. They could develop the subplots better. I mean slice-of-life anime is very prominent.
It'd make the most sense. I mean, the animal crossing games are pretty much slice-of-life games, so it would be the easiest and most effective to make it a tv show.
I actually lived in Japan when this movie came out in theaters so I paid to go see it...in theaters...and I didn't know how to speak Japanese, but hey, I think I was able to follow it well enough XD
I Definitely agree with you on how the movie should’ve been a series instead. A lot of it feels like a best moments, compilation, and the pacing is really fast. I suppose narratively, a short series with 13 episodes would’ve worked but personally I would like an ongoing series could have potential, I mean theres just so many villagers, yet only a few appeared. I get they wanted to be accurate to the games, so they had 8 villagers. But I would love episodes with new visitors. Also theres a whole bunch of NPCs who didnt really get any spotlight. Perhaps, one day a new animal crossing movie or cartoon would appear, though considering the lack of nintendo shows it could be difficult. While I wouldnt mind another movie, I’d definitely prefer a series.
The movie is what motivated me to play more animal crossing. New Leaf was my first game but I research so much of AC past that I loved the game. I think its the sense of freedom and creativity or something but apparently whoever had more money and stuff was cooler so..
0:35 So uh... Funfact(that I’ve found on TvTropes and copied and pasted onto here): “Shigeru Miyamoto was not a fan of the OVA(The Great Mission to Save Princess Peach!)feeling that it was trying too hard to be a literal, faithful adaptation of the video games instead of focusing on being entertaining for its own sake and standing on its own merits. He actually preferred the live action adaptation instead because it took creative liberties instead of slavishly trying to ape the games.”
It appears that the videogame movies curses was broken long before Detective Pikachu and the Sonic Movie came out. If only this movie didn't pass in obscurity...
I haven't seen the movie myself, but the way you described how it feels more like episodes of a series rather than a whole is EXACTLY what I pictured a movie to be like. I wouldn't want deep stories that have 'generic conclusions' and make the package feel like one whole, because Animal Crossing was never about the end of the journey. Every time you leave for the day, you always have that lingering feeling to go back, to talk to your favorite villager, decorate your house, help out at the store or the museum, and all this other stuff... and it just feels like life. I bet the movie was a bit of a mess too, not helping my argument, but if they did a New Horizons movie, I would like to see them take another crack at a movie where it focuses less on conflicts and resolutions. Rather, it would make you feel like you've entered a town or start up a town with real people who have their own lives... and those lives they live don't really end until you come to terms that you'll never get to know these guys forever and move on yourself.
OK I got 3 things to say 1. How come I NEVER heard of this, I need to watch it now cause it's so cute and SOOO BEAUTIFUL 2. Rosie is so adorable she is anime girl confirm 3. WHERE TF IS LOLLY
I watched the movie recently with my sister since she got New Horizons for Christmas and we thought it was okay. We thought that an anime series would have probably been better to establish a passage of time and could work for overarching plots. Think of something like sitcoms like Community where the episodes could be stand alone but still could advance an main plot thread throughout at the same time. That way, episodes could focus on the human villager bonding with the other villagers while building up to an end goal at the end of the season (ie paying off one of Tom’s loans).
My only two nitpicks with this movie: -Animal Village exceeds the character limit -Why does it have FOUR cranky villagers in total while there’s only one for the rest of the personalities?
If they make an Animal Crossing TV series, I want every episode to end with a different KK Slider song that plays over the credits. Oh, and the commercial break cards should feature Pascal leaving us one of his many "truths" of life.
I actually remember watching this anime I really liked it and it gave me a reason to like the characters that pay a more prominent role in the movie like Rosie and Margie Then again I was like 10 when I watched it
I think the cherry pie thing is supposed to represent the wirds the villagers always repeat at the end of their sentences From what you tell in the video
I would love to see nintendo make more good animated content i mean pikmin short movies came out so its not totally impossible that nintendo will make more animated stuff
Well....never say never ... *turns to her friends* Its possible with how popular AC is rn. If they'd work on it again, they'd have a decent stage for more merch lines.
I've known about this for years now, but I never really looked into it because the idea of an Animal Crossing movie just wasn't all that appealing to me. I'm so excited for New Horizons, that I'll probably watch it soon anyway.
I feel like the whole deal with "Sally" leaving and sending a letter without telling Ai is referencing when a villager you like suddenly moves out of your town and you get this letter from them saying something like, "It was just too hard to tell you in person and I would've cried."
I really want to watch the entirety of this video, the points you brought up were valid and great! But it just felt like you didn’t enjoy the movie. You kept on talking about the negative aspects while barely mentioning positives in detail for most of the video. I may be biased as someone who loved the movie, but it was so tough hearing only criticisms for the movie and such little praise after talking about the visuals and music. I don’t mean to say your video is bad though, it’s probably the best video that covers the Animal Crossing movie. Alas it’s incredibly dampening on fans of the movie who came to see someone talk about it, but only hearing someone point out the flaws in it for most of the duration.
i watched the whole thing and honestly, as someone who adores the movie as well (hell my animal crossing new horizons village i went out of my way to get whitney apollo margie and rosie) i think he made good points, i remember watching it when i was younger and feeling like things were missing or incomplete story arch wise. he does say he overall enjoys the movie at the end but to a non-animal crossing fan, someone who doesnt know the references and characters, it might get pretty boring or even moreso hard to follow
@@animaljamfan10 I do, agree, with that. ... and speaking of which, is it me, or do I have a potential fetish for the owls. THAT WILL BE A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR CELESTE TO MAKE IT BACK INTO ANIMAL CROSSING NEW HORIZON!!(permanently), then again, I have to stress the fact that I really, REALLY!, love Celeste.
Why did it just have to be a movie? Animal Crossing is perfect to have a full series and it’s a very simple concept too. Especially since the Pokémon anime already ended it’s about time we had Animal Crossing start a new anime series. And it would just never get old too.
yes there should be a series that focuses on perhaps a few or so different animal villagers each show, perhaps include some moving while some new move in. I'd love an animal crossing show. I not watched the movie yet but be nice to!
I actually liked the movie, but I do agree that it would have been much better executed as an episode series. They can totally do it too with how many events, mechanics, and characters they have available. Really, the only reason I can see them not doing so is because of how Nintendo sees Animal Crossing as a smaller, cuter The Sims-like toy box game and is afraid of going forward with the idea because of how loved and hated many characters are, not to mention all the personal ties and potential spoilers that could pop up in the episodes. I guess until then, I’ll just enjoy watching fan animations or slice of life genre anime as I sigh over this missed opportunity. 😞
the super mario brothers supershow was wierd and chep but i watched it and loved it cause it was Mario and the gang on the even in live action dubbed to my laungage. this is absolutley the time to do an animal crossing anime:D
While I agree the plot on Yu (the boy) would have an more interesting plot, I feel he only works for more a TV series, going by episode by episode. Where as AI's character really works for this movie as it's more personal and plays more homage to what inspired Animal Crossing in the first place.
