- Finally got all the pieces to the puzzle for a nice motovlog setup! I am running the GoPro hero9 with the media mod case. I have my GoPro on a Ride Tech Moto front chin mount on my Shoei RF-1200. Plugged into the media mod I have the Purple Panda lavalier microphone and the quality turned out really good! Let me know what you think and if I should change anything!

Sounds good to me! Purple panda is my go to mic for my gopro helmet setup. Might finally semi retire my Hero4 and go with a black 9 and a zoom h5 with the panda for sound. Thanks for the video demo, subbed.
I just got a GoPro hero 9 black and am wanting to figure out a helmet mic set up. Thanks for the information. I’ll give it a try.
Sounds great!
Sounds awesome, both the bike and your voice. Any additional tips after experiencing this for a while? Just ordered a hero8 and media mod and I already had the purple panda...ride safe!
Great video - I've just stumbled across. You have a clarity of sound that I didn't have. Did you use the small TRS wire adaptor or did you use the normal TRRS and plug straight into the GoPro? It didn't work for me - no voice whatsoever.
I have it set up as it should be, PP mic to TRS adapter to GoPro but all I get is static? Any know anything about this?
O thats lovely your are also a hero9 lover
link of the microphones you use to be able to buy?
Yo! I’d love to go for a ride. You said Campbell then saw Heroes store and knew you were close by. I’m in downtown San Jose.
I bought the Pro 3.5mm mic adapter for my GoPro 9 and its not picking up my purple panda mic lmao. I guess I have to go with the media mod
this seems like the move but not tryna spend a hundy on both
How many batteries do you keep on u
Good video ❤
great video man, was not bored at any point. only comment is the video quality is surprisingly grainy even though the video quality is 1080p with the gopro hero 9. what happened there?
UA-cam compression, if you don't record and render in 4k, youtube uses a rubbish codex
My recommendation is you have to put in the work just like anything to make a career out of it 🙃 I was hoping to see more videos but you stopped a year ago 😢
Buen video saludos desde Colombia 👍
I was like hey that looks familiar lol I lived in Los Gatos now in Fremont but you can have the gopro microphone and the panda mic what's inside your helmet recording in the same time ?
The panda mic is plugged in directly to the media mod on the GoPro, so it’s the only mic being used instead of the GoPro mic.
@@twowheelwarneke7831 oh I see, all this time I thought you actually using 2 mics lol. One new thing what I learn today was that you can record the sound with your sena and you can hear everyone in your party talking on your gopro 🤯🤯
I have the exact set up, but getting no sound from the purple mic. Did you use another adapters provided from purple panda like a TRS 2-rings? Please help, thanks!
You need the extra trs adapter that comes with the Purple Panda to make it work.
@@teratospictures I finally figured that out, thanks!
I am planning to get a hero 9 and set it up for my helmet using the media mod. I have heard that the media mod setup is not waterproof, what do you do when it rains?
I’m lucky and live in California where it doesn’t rain! But if it did and I wanted to record, I wouldn’t use the media mod
"Good thing I live in CA" Said nobody! Great video though, very helpful!
What mic setting did you use with this setup?
Once you put on the media mod and plug in the mic, it should automatically switch. I can’t remember what setting it was.
I have the GP Hero 9, mic adaptor and Purple Panda mic like yourself and am just starting to learn how to use them. I don't know all this connector terminology like TRS2.
I used them the first time by plugging the mic into the mic adaptor, and the adaptor into the GP. Got NO audio whatsoever. I tried changing the mic setting on the GP to the "+" option which apparently increases the audio by 20db. That didn't seem to do anything. Then, I noticed that the PP mic plug has four sections on it - why, I don't know. And there's an adaptor cord that came with the PP that has only three sections on its male end. So I plugged the male end of the PP into the female end of that adaptor, and then plugged the three section male end of the adaptor into the GP mic adaptor. This time, I got audio, but it was horribly muffled despite it being right in front of my mouth during filming. Now I'm wondering if the "+" setting is the culprit. Any advice? I know I have everything I should need, but it is hard to get connected to make it work. The GP forum as not helpful so I am seeking people with similar rigs. Thanks!
Did you figure it out? I'm having same issue
@@ryant9418 The GoPro can't accept the mic input connector that has FOUR separate contact points. You HAVE to use an adaptor which you plug that into and the adaptor reduces it to THREE contact points with two black dividers on it. I hope that makes sense. You have to use this adaptor between the mic and the mic adaptor, and then plug the mic adaptor into the GoPro. And in the GoPro settings, the mic adaptor MUST be plugged in to the GoPro for you to see the options on mic inputs. Those will not appear in the menu until you plug the mic adaptor in. Hope this helps!
Do you think I need a media mod with the purple panda mic?
Yes you do, in order to plug it in directly. Or you might be able to get the GoPro mic adapter
or you could just record the microphone to an external recorder, or your phone and then sync up the sound and video after :)
I just wish they made one with less than a 100’ cord. Jesus.
