8:50 another downside is no ND filters, and seeing how you set your settings, it also means you will not be able to lock your shutter at 2x frame rate, to get nice blurry roads and cinematic feel.
I have tested with ND filters to get that motion blur and I can tell you it's not worth it. It's looks terrible at high speeds. Too much going on. There is enough blur when riding a motorcycle at 80mph at any framerate.
I have a GoPro Hero 9 and have struggled with the audio since having it. To the point that i have not got anything good enough to post on UA-cam. ok I've scoured the internet for a half metre mic extension cable but with no joy. You didn't leave a link for that. Also how come you dont need the go pro mic adapter? Most videos on youtube say you need one. This is all quite a head ache 😀
I honestly think the “perfect setup” is whichever kinda bike you have. If u have a bike that you sit erect on, then this would be the setup you want. If you ride a sports bike, I think the chin mount is the best set up only because if you’re gunnin it, laying down on the tank isn’t going to give the viewers a good experience
A very informative video, thank you for taking the time to post it. I have been recording my rides for a couple of years now, but on a budget (unable to afford the latest GoPro). I run a SJCAM SJ6 Legend mounted to the side of my helmet, and have tried the mic in several locations within my helmet. Behind the cheek pad, does produce the best exhaust and voice, but OMG the wind noise is awful. Excessive wind noise is my nemesis, even allowing for the fact that some is to be expected, after all, we are riding a motorcycle at speed. Unfortunately, the supplied mic is SJCAM specific, so I have bought an adapter (mono only) and was looking for a suitable low sensitivity mic, your video might just have provided the answer. I will give it a go, thanks muchly 👍
Hi Ian, I think you'll like the Hama mic, also get a fluffy wind muff for it. You can get a cheap pack on Amazon, or just tape some fack fur on it to baffle the wind.
@@wildlifemotoxtra215 I do have some fluffy cat thingies, just one of the many things I have tried. One of my best results came from sliding the mic (without foam) into a finger from a latex glove, and securing the end with tape, then put the foam on top. This certainly helps to reduce the sensitivity, but still nowhere near enough. If you click on my (dog) picture, and watch any of my Interceptor vids, you will see what I mean. Thanks, I will try the Hammer Mic on my yet to be used Hero 10. But I'm more curious how it will perform on my Hero 8. Gun shots or super loud sounds are so distorted, even with the Wind Noise option off.
24 FPS give me a better sensation of speed with a locked shutter speed at 50 (plus adding an ND filter to control the lighting). It adds a bit of natural blur on the edges at speed and isn’t as jarring as 60 FPS. Which is odd, because when I game I’m running as high an FPS as possible…usually 165 FPS.
What are your audio settings on your zoom H1 when recording just exhaust audio? I have a zoom h1n but I keep having a lot of trouble with wind noise even with a deadcat and wrapped in a towel. My current settings are lo-cut 120hz and gain on 8.

Sorry question from go pro new Newbie. I have heard when it’s on low raw sound setting it records a second audio?. Where? Where do I find this audio track? When I down load using the quick app I see the video that’s all? Or am I being thick? Is it just the one audio track sorry don’t get it!
I have an MT-09 and I'm also really loving the immersive look from the chest mount but I'm in a hard place because I bend over when I really pin it and that means the quick run is just footage of the top of my tank. I'm not crazy about it but I'm thinking I might just end up having to get a second camera in a different location for those quick pulls. I actually first mounted my action cam to the top of my helmet (thanks to all the lines on it, was my only real option) and the footage was terrible!! With no part of me or the bike in frame it may as well have been on the top of a car and (i think cause of the internal stabilization in the cam) the sense of my speed was completely lost! I did a quick pull to 80mph once and the footage looked like I meandered up to about 35mph. It was the weirdest thing. I'll only use the top of the hemet spot now when I want a camera rolling as a "dash cam" in traffic.
Didn't know that you had a different channel. But thanks nonetheless, I have a GoPro 5. So media accessories won't work for me and syncing that zoom recorder's audio for exhaust note would be exhausting isn't it?

Yeah but you are very limited with having to attach the mic into the gopro. You can never go far from the camera. I don't ride bikes and so the media mod is useless. I am going to be talking to people in public. I will be far from the camera at times
Great setup and almost perfect settings! In my opinion i would choose a locked shutter speed of 1/240 at 60 fps since it creates a kind of motion blur effect, instead of having jaggyness as some of your clips have. But again if its a sunny day you need a nd-filter of around 16, which might not work with the max lens mod. Im only on gopro 8, so i cant say everything. Keep up the good content!
