What a great piece of advice. Thank you! You were 100% correct. I took off the old washer and sure enough, there was a great big blister on it.

After a few years my champion AS toilet started ghost flushing and that's how I found your video. I was sure it would be an easy to fix to change the seal and something I could handle with limited plumbing knowledge. But I just changed the seal and the water in the tank is slowly going down still. I tried readjusting it 4 times to make sure the green part was lined up with those 4 notches and not loose but it didn't fix the problem. Do you have any suggestions?

Great video. Thanks so much. I actually went in and popped the bubbles from the top with a pin and the leaking has stopped for now.

Nice video. My American Standard (2021) does not have the black part with the o-ring, so I can't figure out how get the green domed part disassembled to replace the gasket. any clue how to remove it in this case?

Got the part and installed it, works beautifully. My gasket had 2 blisters in it, on one side. In a pinch (since both sides of gasket are the same) I think you can flip it over and use the other side until THAT side develops water blisters.

It’s annoying changing it out so frequent. I am glad it’s fairly easy to change

Mine is doing this so why does American Standard not make a gasket that does not blister? Had I known, I would have bought Koehler or another brand!,,

I had 3 of those American Standard toilets in my house. Sure, they would probably flush a "bucket of golf balls" per the manufacturer's claim, but they all ghost flushed causing me to have outrageous water bills. While the toilets were under warranty I was able to get new gaskets and other parts for free from the manufacturer. One toilet continued to leak no matter how often I replaced the gaskets, so the mfg sent me a new tank with all innards. But it still continued to ghost flush. Eventually I got fed up with paying high water bills and constantly having to replace the gaskets, so I replaced 2 of the worst offenders with inexpensive Western Pottery toilets which work great. Not only are they low flow, but I've never had any ghost flushing or any other problems with them. In my opinion, there should have already been a class action lawsuit over the defective design of those American Standard toilets.
My daughter just bought a house that has a different model of an American Standard toilet in the master bathroom. It has the old style flapper instead of the flush tower that the AS Champion toilets have, but it too is constantly ghost flushing. Perhaps their engineers or designers should go back to school and learn how to come up with a design that actually works and doesn't constantly waste water. Needless to say, I would never buy another American Standard toilet!

My AS toilet was leaking after about 3 years and I went to Lowe's and replaced the entire section with an OEM replacement. It still leaks. This is complete rubbish. Also, there is no way you should need to or have to replace a gasket in a toilet every year or two. I'll be calling the customer service department for a remedy.

Hopefully American Standard changes the composition of their gasket for replacements.

Also, use plumber’s grease (not petroleum jelly) on the small seal. It’s cheap. Comes in a little tube or container.

What I didn't read about yet was the shock of having your water bill doubling while you're trying to figure out the solution and waiting for the gasket...;-((

Change out the whole flush valve. There's better ones that don't require all that.

I was just doing this replacement every three months. The last replacement didn’t work, so I thought I got a faulty gasket and I replaced it again the same week and it still goes flushing. These toilets are pieces of shit. Pun intended.

So I'm trying to find instructions on the new one piece top . Your video keeps popping up. Your video is useless on the model 4148a toilet with the one piece flush valve on top. The chain holder is not removable.
