  • The Magician is the third Jungian masculine archetype in this series. The Magician has a deep curiosity for everything in life - he is willing to put in the effort to learn the secret knowledge and teach it to the others. He uncovers things that are not immediately obvious, understands how they work and applies that knowledge to creating something new. So, in relation to The Warrior, for example, The Magician is the creative force and the thinker who drives the actions of The Warrior.
    In this episode, we talk about the full expression of The Magician archetype, the well-known magician characters from popular fiction, as well as the examples of magicians in our culture and science. We also talk about its shadow versions, and how to recognize them in business or within your community.
    "The magician archetype has a built in necessity to elevate other people up to the same level that he is at." - @MikeGilliland (goo.gl/FRFeV2)

    it's not really the secret knowledge that matters but making yourself into a person who generates those new valuable knowledge that matters.

    Who is this lady? She's a really good teacher. Displays lots of patience, tries to stay away from popular fetishization of psychedelics to describe the journey, and also points to shadow examples within her own home culture so that we can really start examining ourselves instead of externalising, exoticising, or calling it out as a disease. Kudos! I'm watching the rest now, bye!

    the problem I've found with Millenials is that they reject teachings fro elders and think their peers are better. The old people are old and they know nothing. Google is their library and any mentorship offered is rejected because they have been told they can do it themselves. Problem with this and I have seen it far too often in my trade. The lads come in with grandiose self-expectations then fall flat on their faces and leave blaming everyone that they have not been taught properly as they leave.

    Interesting discussion! One thing though was interesting though is that you understood Zen and the Art of Motorcycle maintenance to be about peoples fear of technology. I felt the main underlying focus was that there is a infinite sum of parts that make up everything we experience and though each part has its own purpose individually, when brought together something completely different can come about. I think this stood out to me only because of how definitively you stated that so many people don't know what its really about. Do you have a forum where you discuss things with your listeners? Id be very interested to engage .

    The Test of the Magician: _"Choose a Pill"_ [Blue or Red]
    . (Muggle): Picks the Blue Pill [you fail the test, but live in bliss].
    . (Wizard): Picks the Red Pill [you pass the test, but the knowledge is a curse]
    -> (Shaman): Picks BOTH together (not binded by rules), creates "The Purple Pill".
    The "Mark of the Shaman" is the "scar" in the mind that did not managed to kill the innocence, but can never be negated, healed or forgotten.
    This type of Magician will forever be "The Apprentice" (never reaching the rank of *Master* like the Wizards do); but able to pass some of their wisdom (without the actual knowledge) to the Muggles.

    • @adolfodef
      @adolfodef 5 років тому +1

      Yes. I know this "Shaman" looks like "The Innocent One" shadow of the archetype, but while it is technically an in-complete/un-realized variant; the difference is that it is NOT an inmature one (the effort is done precisely on never "going too deep you can not come back"); with a trade off between lesser "spiritual elevation" to keep some "roots on the ground".

    Can anyone answer what's the difference between the magician and the sage? I constantly see people referencing the same characters as being both. For example what is gandalf or obiwon? I get these two archetypes so confused... Also this woman said the magician is the creative force so what's the difference between the creator and the magician?

    • @Jide-bq9yf
      @Jide-bq9yf 3 роки тому

      Illd say the magician is a narrower conception . And the sage or wise one has to a large degree incorporated all three of the archetypes .

    What is sacred to people varies. If the color of the flag is sacred to some people, should we go out of our way to abuse it because we don't understand it? Shouldn't we honor people and what is sacred to them?

    The healthy Magician distributes hidden knowledge freely, but isn’t the value of the knowledge found in the price one pays to obtain it? How does one preserve the power/impact of the hidden knowledge?

    • @Christiancatholic7
      @Christiancatholic7 Рік тому

      No, valuable knowledge is valuable intrinsically. The process of pursuing it will teach something but there is more to it than merely the journey- else there would be no difference between the failed pursuit and the successful pursuit

    No man does the rites of passage nowadays,and do not listen to elders,you have to be conscious in the unconscious,and rediscover the divine within,the Self with a capital S,you have to go through darkness to be reborn,nonlinear,creative imagination,the purpose of life is to discover your gift,the meaning of life is to give it away (Carl Jung) to many false prophets,those that speak don not know,those that know do not speak,I guide people to heal themselves .

      @harmonicaben 3 роки тому

      Some do. You are right that those who know don’t talk as much. When you know you realize that most people cannot listen and so you must read them and guide but they must be ready to learn before you take them to the next step.

    Wow very insightful! I would say however that you are confusing Culture with Nationalism. Nationalism literally can happen overnight where Culture, almost by definition, is evolved over centuries and millenia. As an afrolatino living in America in my 30’s, I have to say that ‘Culture” is very very superficial. We are European/Western every way but consider being black or brown our Culture. Far from it. The tradition, morality, sacred spaces yall are referring to is Culture. Some superstitions persist yes, but as they say, The Rich question nothing while Poor question everything. Those who benefit will want to keep whatever system that is.
