This is interesting. Seems like you are talking about mothers being too overbearing, or too career-focused, or too distant--all the way mothers fail their children--the same way that society does. It's almost the "can't win" archetype. Maybe the scapegoat.
My belief is that before industrialization the babies were taking care of by whole families and communities, you need more than one person to correctly develop the mind of a child, grandmas would help young mothers, and teach them, now everyone does what they can, separated on our concrete caves.
