What a beautiful strong mum she is. My mother left Vietnam in late 70’s as refuge and raised my brother and I in Australia as a single mum. She made many sacrifices and worked hard to put food on the table. I wish many blessings for this family ❤️🙏

This kind of makes me sad. She is a hard worker but I can only imagine the damage she is doing to her body sleeping only that much constantly. We really live in a world where we can’t live a balanced life as we should. I hope she finds time for herself.

Don't get me wrong much props to her for being independent, working hard, and providing for her daughter but this being portrayed as a "Great Resilient Survivor" narrative turns me off. Overworking and only getting 3 hours of sleep?!?! That's so bad for your health short-term and long-term. Yes, it's a personal choice she made too but if she had access to a job that paid her a decent living wage with manageable hours she wouldn't have to live like this. Something that should also be highlighted is how hard you have to work as a foreigner to make ends meet. Why not expand on how ridiculously difficult Korea make it for foreigners/immigrants to get a job that pays a living wage?. Not this, "Oh she has to work so hard what a Supermom she is such a good role model!" story. This just tries to build on the model minority myth while sweeping social and gender issues and race relations under a rug which is terrible. When the struggles are real but people only gloss over it so that Korea won't lose face or have their reputation tainted. Smh

Because its South Korea and they never address any real issues. Like the rampant prostitution that the government "cracks down on" (Not even mad at prostitutions just the human trafficking parts and the forced section which are rampant in South Korea).

Nobody wants to be a single parent. If her ex or she finds someone who loves her and her child, she would not be overworking. Unfortunately in many Asian countries and societies, there are no support systems for single parents. If you want your child to have a roof over their heads and to live without feeling left out from their friends, you have to work harder.

@@LeeHanHart prioritizing your own mental, physical, emotional and financial well-being by choosing to put your children up for adoption when you realize you cannot take care of them is not a "shortcut". Not everyone is fit to raise child and sometimes it takes years and months after having the child to realize that. There are some horror stories with adoption but there are also some beautiful stories of kids getting the love and life they deserved. I would also say that sleeping 3 hours a day is an unfortunate thing. Rest is necessary for our well-being. We as a society should do more so that no one has to only sleep 3 hours a day to take care of their family. This woman is extraordinary but it should not be the norm. Parents and caretakers deserve rest. When you fill your own cup you have the capacity to fill the cup of others.

@@marydoe8961 We cannot judge single parents. Many women and men choose to leave their marriage due to spouses who are abusive, who are unfaithful, with an addiction to substances, etc. Sometimes, it is the spouse who chooses to abandon his or her family. Some lose their spouses due to illness. So who are we to judge these women and men when we do not know their stories? My father, whom I have never met, walked out on my mum when my sister was 1 and she was expecting me. He couldn't handle it. It was an extremely difficult time for my mom, who was subsequently diagnosed with schizophrenia a year after I was born. Seeing my mother who struggled alone to provide for my sister and I while battling her illness makes me appreciate my position in life now. She chose never to remarry for fear of us being abused by a stepfather. She could have abandoned us but she didn't. For that, I will always be grateful to my mum. Let's try not to be judgmental towards people and understand them instead.

@@Yasmin-jn8rb Thank you. You have said it all. Not too sure if some people are just demented for not understanding happiness and peace of mind comes from sometimes making difficult decisions in particular when there is abuse. Our kids could ultimately grow up and either blame you as parent for letting them live in an abusive home, they could end up believing abuse whether physical or mentally is part of life and is acceptable. Funny how some people are quick to judge as if they are going to speak on your behalf or even support you. The Super Mom is doing it on her own cause she is not afraid and scared to do it on her own. Sleeping for three hours a day will be detrimental to her health and overall being long-term. Back in the days, many Vietnamese women married Việt Kiều (Vietnamese men who live in the West). Today, I see more and more Vietnamese women marry men from neighboring countries with higher standards of living. According to the World Bank, South Korea has a GDP per capita of $35,000 U.S. dollars, which is much higher than Vietnam's $4,000 per person. Obviously, many Vietnamese women marry foreigners wanting a better life. I do hope these marriages work out, and these Vietnamese women get treated well by their husbands and husbands' families. South Korean women do not want to procreate. South Korean government incentivizes South Korean men to marry foreigners to increase the country's low birth rates. My oldest brother was a refugee living in Japan for over a decade. All of my family live in the U.S.A. My parents, eventually, sponsored my oldest brother to the U.S.A. The 2023 Lunar New Year is coming in several weeks, I want to wish Minh Phương doing better economically, happiness, and good health.
