What I love about this scene is how genuinely impressed Howard is by Jimmy's work. Howard was never Jimmy's enemy, he was a supporter. The writers did a great job of making Howard, the rich, cocky confident partner seem like the obvious villain, but it was Chuck all along.
Even after Chuck’s death Howard still tries to bring Jimmy into the firm. It’s kinda sad to think how different Jimmy’s life would have been if he had someone like Howard as a mentor/idol instead of his brother.
damn, I never noticed that. Howard was the only character who never did anything wrong, this is arguably the worst thing he's done and taking the brunt of someone's anger for a colleague and friend isn't that bad
@@smalf00 Well, I wouldn't say he did _nothing_ wrong, but his heart always seemed to be in the right place, and when he did do questionable things it was because he was in the same situation we've all been in before; trying to navigate all these interconnected systems we call a society and the power dynamics and relationships therein. All while balancing staying true to our ethical framework, in whatever form that may take, while also trying to achieve our goals or even just trying to survive in a situation with nothing but bad choices available to you.

But in hindsight it's just a brilliant bit of foreshadowing about how much he despised what his friend asked him to do. And then he has her close the door and tells her.
Man, rewatching this knowing what we know now. The subtle facial acting from Howard and Chuck, you can see the scheme. Chuck was the real snake, period.
I always felt that Howard would have been fine with Jimmy being there and was forced.by Chuck to take the fall all while Chuck acted so innocent. What a terrible and well written villain he turned out to be.
@@codger08 we also learn that it wasn't Howard's choice to turn him down after he got his law degree. Chuck is so obsessed with the idea that Jimmy doesn't deserve to be a lawyer that he hurts other people on the process.
Howard is ironically, very honorable. Allowing himself to be used as the fall guy, for years! It’s almost sad, he was always rooting for Jimmy. He just couldn’t tell him.
The great thing about Howard is that while every other character on BCS goes through incredible transformation, Howard always stays the same and is the one constant. It is only our perception of Howard that changes.
there’s actually a term for this if you’re curious. I ran into it in recent weeks and thought it was so cool, and your comment reminded me of it. he’s called a static character (simple enough, no?). it can be very difficult to use them well. a relatively straightforward example is a villain/hero - they are the bad/good guys early on and they remain so throughout the plot. an interesting example as with Howard is that we realize nuance as the story goes on, but on review it turns out they were basically the same person throughout the plot. we can see these traits early on, it’s just that we assign new value to them now in knowing the full plot. another example of thinking of characters in this way are dynamic characters - like who you mention apart from Howard. the point of them is to change as the plot progresses, for example: Walter White.
Chuck would rather sacrifice a *multi-million* dollar and *multi-state* federal class action lawsuit for his *OWN* law firm than have Jimmy work at HHM….. just sick.
Considering what Jimmy became/always was, Chuck probably saved HHM by doing this. Unless it gets destroyed by Kim and Jimmy in the upcoming season of course.

@@tafttheraft5314 If Chuck didn't hinder Jimmy every way possible, he wouldn't have been in such a dire financial situation. And if his financial situation would've been better, he probably wouldn't have seeked so much contact to the criminal world.
@@tafttheraft5314 I think you are not getting the whole plot of BCS. This scene is one of the reasons why he believed he should be Saul Goodman and not Jimmy McGill.
It doesn't matter if Chuck was right or wrong about Jimmy - he was a snake. A real man would have told Jimmy to his face what the problem is, instead of pretending to be his friend, while actively sabotaging him, instead of forcing an innocent man like Howard to play the bad guy in some ridiculous clown show, so Chuck can play the part of a kindly big brother. It's two-faced and despicable. Even if Chuck was right, and Jimmy would always turn out bad, this scene will always be there to show you that he was the villain.
If Chuck trully cared bout jimmy he would have helped Jimmy become a better man, but he was always jealous of Jimmy{s skill to get with the people while all Chuck had was being a good Lawyer. Chuck felt if Jimmy became a good lawyer too he would have nothing left to validate himself with so he wanted Jimmy to succeed, but far away from him.
It would have been hilarious if when Chuck was like "I'm VERY disappointed, I think you should reconsider" that Howard just immediately "You sure? Ok then. Jimmy, you're in." just for Chuck to blow a gasket.
I’m thinking of that one episode of the office where Robert California doesn’t want his wife hired and when he says Andy should hire her, he does…and it becomes a clown show afterwards lol…
That side eye glance to Chuck at 4:52, oh my god. He's screaming internally "What the hell is wrong with you, why are you doing this?!" These are the little gestures that you can only pick up on once you've finished the season.
Yep, just shows how he doesn’t have people as figured out as he thinks he does. First it was Jimmy, then Kim, Rebecca, Howard, and worst of all himself.
Howard really respect Jimmy… called him Charlie Hustle saw him get his law degree and he built a class action suit! Imagine having to sacrifice a multi million dollar deal which will allow them to get more money, staff bonuses etc just because he wanted to spite his brother… All Chuck had Jimmy was being a great lawyer and if Jimmy overshadowed him it would’ve destroyed his ego!
"I will burn the whole thing to the ground before I give it to you." It's ironic coming from Jimmy's mouth because that was truly how Chuck quite literally felt about him.
@@woahblackbettybamalam he meant that emotionally that's how Chuck felt about offering Jimmy association at HHM. He would rather burn the whole establishment down to a crisp before he let his brother rise any higher than a mailman inside of it.
If you keep looking it's nuts the number of parallels you find between Jimmy and Chuck. Chuck would have never admitted it to himself, but they were pretty similar as people.
@@omnibeet They were both very calculating/manipulative. Jimmy did it outside the system, Chuck did in inside. Both had an exceptional memory. Jimmy for details about people, Chuck for facts and figures. Both are blind to anything that doesn't fit their worldview. Both hate being pitied and have pride issues. Both committed to their career identity. Jimmy loved fighting for the spirit of the law, Chuck loved followed the letter of it. Both develop a safe space for coping and avoiding problems. Jimmy's Saul Goodman persona and Chuck's EHS disorder. Both love getting attention. Jimmy from showmanship. Chuck from workmanship.
I just love how after Jimmy questions why Howard wouldn’t want him, Howard’s face screams that he can’t provide a legitimate answer and is begging for Chuck’s help in this situation. Not only did Jimmy gets stabbed in the back by Chuck, but you can tell how uncomfortable and bad Howard feels about doing this to Jimmy.
@@jebeifinn443 TBH, Jimmy was never going to clean up his act. When he worked for Clifford Main he had to play by the rules and he just couldn't do it. Schweikart tried to cut off contact between Jimmy and his clients, but he did so within the bounds of the law. Jimmy didn't like that so he went around the law. That was always his problem. He imposed his own morality on situations that did not turn in his favor. Had he worked at HHM he would have had the same issues and the only difference is Chuck wouldn't be able to live with himself when he finally had to fire Jimmy. Yes, Chuck is a snake. He wasn't up front with Jimmy. But in the end, he knew that Jimmy couldn't work for his firm. Chuck was all about legal ethics and Jimmy couldn't care less about them. Just because Jimmy his his brother does not mean Chuck owes him a position at his law firm. You can be a hard worker and still not be fit for a position.
Hands down the Cruelest thing Chuck has ever done considering he never told his brother their mothers last words. Jimmy was so excited to finally work with his brother to be stabbed in the back.
He even throws in a “Howard I don’t know what to say”. looking back now, the comment seems so insincere from. Imagine Howard thinking it’s bad enough he’s taking the blame, but Chuck just pushes the blame even more on him, trying to feign ignorance.
I always saw Chuck not telling him what their mom's final words were as a way to protect Jimmy's feelings. Imagine leaving your dying mother for a single moment, only to find out in that brief moment she cried out for you. Jimmy probably would have felt terrible.
That look of disappointment, when Chuck's pettiness ruins a multi-million dollar case that the firm desperately needed. Howard's well wishes were actually sincere.
At around 2:22, just proves that Chuck was even MORE deserving of our hatred than we thought. I think he was hoping that Jimmy would be humiliated in front of everyone, but Howard was kind enough to minimise the blow as much as he could.
@@malfaroangel3896 His point is that Chuck clearly wanted Jimmy to get humiliated in front of everyone. He was obviously confused about Howard clearing the room, and tried to argue against it, but Howard stopped him and said "when the room's clear" to make sure there wouldn't be an audience. Jimmy can make all the valid points he wants, that only makes it more embarrassing when they still refuse to take him, because it shows he's just that undesirable to them. It was kind of Howard to make everyone leave.
I love how Howard decides to rephrase "we want the case, we don't want you"" to "the case is all we want". Really gives insight into his character - he clearly picks and chooses his words carefully as any good lawyer/salesman would, yet this also makes him seem a bit insincere and corporate. Of course we know the truth - that Chuck is pulling the strings, but little details in the dialogue like that go a long way. God I'm gonna miss this show
Really good point yeah, the hesitation is palpable. S1 is the only season I watched as it aired per week (other than this most recent season). I saw the rest of the show much later but man I remember just how much I hated Howard. He comes off as a massive douchebag but ultimately he's not a bad guy.
Yeah and initially this seems to the audience that this is just Howard's way of keeping a veil of professionalism. It's not until the rewatch that we notice this little stutter is Howard's way of not hurting Jimmy too much even though he's pretending to be the villain. The professionalism is genuine.
He can't even bring himself to say, "We don't want you.", even under the veil that was concocted by Chuck. Because ultimately, if it were up to him and the other partners, they would/do want Jimmy. Howard knows he'd be a real asset to HHM. What might've been, I suppose.
That is a true behavior of a lawyer. He is not there to be judgemental about his clients interest. He is there to advice and defend the client´s interests´. The mistake Howard made is that Chuck is no client of him, so he shouldn´t abide to the things Chuck made to hurt Jimmy. At the end, Chuck even throw Howard and HHM under the bus because of his contempt towards his brother. Howard was the best lawyer: no judging and defending Chuck´s interests, and at the end got stabed in the back by Chuck. Guess a lot of lawyers can relate to that.
@@victorfaria3797 Howard definitely made a mistake by siding with Chuck blindly. Chuck was a mentor for Howard most likely since Chuck and Howard's father had started HHM together. So of course Howard would defer to Chuck in all matters. But by Season 3, Howard was just done with all the McGill drama. And by Season 5, Howard tries to correct his mistake and is trying to rebuild HHM and wants Jimmy on board, but its too little too late. Howard was a good man who unfortunately chose a side he shouldn't have.
It is Not only because chuck and Howard Are SOO Good friends it is because if chuck is unsatisfied with the company he can just move out and get a fat severance pay that would probably destroy the whole company
At the beginning it looked like Howard was gonna be a forgettable character but, knowing what we know now, he turned out to be a very complex and interesting character. Amazing writing.
It's kinda sad seeing this a second time, knowing that Chuck was actually the one who didn't want Jimmy at HHM and that Howard was merely playing the 'bad guy' to cover for him. Howard really got the short end of the stick throughout this show. It's also weird how when you watch this back you can actually see some of the 'fakeness' behind Chucks expressions that you wouldn't have noticed the first time.
I'm wondering if the actors knew about the planned sabotage and intentionally acted that way, or were they still in the dark about it, and we just have the power of hindsight and are looking for a sign to validate that truth.
true and you can also see that it's really difficult for howard and that jimmy's words hurt. (another example of chuck acting is when he lets ernesto hear part of the tape, mckean plays it kind of hammy on purpose)
@@pterodactylptroll I get that there is going to be some bias on our part because we already know what to look for. That being said, I'm sure the actors would know far enough ahead into the story to be able to properly portray their characters. I know I'd definitely want Chuck's actor to know that his character is working against his brother and using Howard as a scapegoat (even if he wouldn't know the details of that). 02:53 is a great example of what I'm talking about though. The exaggerated reaction of somebody who is trying to make a point of looking like they object to what just happened. 04:17 too. Also the way Howard looks at Chuck is pretty cold. Suggesting he wasn't comfortable with what he's doing and didn't really appreciate having to crush Jimmy like that (because he actually likes him).
Imagine how powerful HHM would be with Jimmy, Kim, Howard, and Chuck working there. Shame Chuck threw it all away out of hatred for his brother, deserved or not. Jimmy may have done some bad things but Chuck definitely forced him on that path to a degree. If Chuck could've set aside his hatred for Jimmy here he'd probably still be alive and would eventually get better, and hell maybe eventually Kim and Jimmy would've become partners at HHM.

EVEN knowing HMM was in serious financial straits, Howard does this. Because he knows Chuck is serious when he threatens to liquidate the firm. Also, neither Chuck nor Coward (haha) expected this. @@kushalramakanth7922 it’s not as simple as that though. If Jimmy was hired by HHM at the start like Howard wanted he would’ve most likely been trained and mentored by Howard. Yeah there’s a chance Slippin Jimmy ends up taking over, but the chance is smaller because at the time Jimmy really wanted to be a good lawyer and he would’ve had his brother, Howard, and Kim helping him and believing in him. The Sandpiper moment is the same. When he joined a firm, he still has that mindset that no matter how good he becomes, he will never be able to work in the firm that made him want to change.
@@josephwright4222 Yeah things might have gone differently but it still all sounds like feeble excuses for Jimmy. He didn't get his dream job at his dream firm and therefore he just had no other choice than to become a conman and a cartel lawyer? Such a guy didn't deserve to be hired in the first place if you ask me. Chuck also had to start small at some point and didn't become crooked. Even as a public defender Jimmy resorts to scams and works with criminals. Looking for short cuts and trespassing the law is Jimmys modus operandi, it's how he often gains an edge over his oppenents and wins his cases. Once he has to work in a team and play by the rules like in his time at Davis & Main because his antics could endanger the firm he begins to struggle. This was exactly the kind of chance he was hoping for, working at a prestigious law firm on a big case. It just wasn't HHM but a partner firm, the next best thing, and he still blew it. Yes! I didn't see these glances before. I think I need to rewatch. This show isn't as passive as some, you can't rely on dialogue alone and do other things while watching it because there's so many blink and you miss it moments
For several episodes, they make it seem like Howard is the bad guy, the one keeping Jimmy down. Mr. Professional in his suit, everything pristine and perfect and Jimmy doesn't fit with HHM. Then, we find out Howard's the nice guy, or at least nicer, and it's always been Chuck. It was always Chuck.
2:44 I love how Howard thinks and articulates himself, "we don't want um..." he then thinks about what he is saying and is conscious about trying not to upset Jimmy too much so phrases it "the case is all we want"
Howard was a good guy... Always. He even tried to help Jimmy out after chucks death even though he wasn't even the one sabotaging him. Whatever Jimmy and Kim are about to do in season 6 would be very unfair...

Maybe so, but he has never commited any crime or acted nearly as unethical in his practice as Kim and Jimmy have in theirs.
I think Kim is going to prison next season. She's going to get caught for sabotaging Howard. That will sever her relationship as she will be gone for years and Saul won't have anybody there to keep him semi grounded
You can see how badly Howard wanted to take Jimmy into the firm and how much it strained him pretending to be the bad guy to keep him out. I’m rather disappointed in myself for not calling it sooner when I first saw this. It’s so obvious now.
Howard's the most underrated character in BCS, seemed like the bad guy in season 1 but he turns out to be one of the wisest of all characters in this show. You would really wish nothing wrong happens with the guy in season 6 after watching season 5's last episode
He’s definitely not one of the wisest characters in the show😭 he’s incredibly naive and pokes his head where it doesn’t belong sometimes. He’s probably the most moral character but NOT wise
The look Howard gives Chuck at 4:52 just radiates contempt for making him do this to Jimmy. Howard's a good man but a better man would have been honest with Jimmy and dropped the curtains on the whole charade.
Michael McKean is incredible. Conveying this kind of subtle situational irony to the audience without betraying his true emotions to Jimmy is a genius writing and acting feat.
When I first watched this scene, I thought the acting was great. Now, knowing what we know about all of the dynamics involved between Chuck, Howard, and Jimmy-the acting is sublime. It can be viewed both at face value (Howard being the decision-maker behind cutting Jimmy out) and what actually happened (Chuck being the actual decision-maker) and the acting behind both meanings is flawless and play into each other beautifully. Brilliant show. Brilliant actors.
Watching Howard in this scene is heartbreaking. He would want nothing more than to bring Jimmy on, but he has to bear the brunt of denying him. There are several times you see him close to breaking. Great acting and a great character.
3:28 that is the face of a man who has been forced into doing something that he didn't want to... Howard legit like Jimmy and wanted him im HHM but Chuck didn't
3:28 - 3:33 You can clearly see Howard feel bad for the decision to not include Jimmy in the case he literally showed to HHM. I just noticed this after several rewatch. He clearly likes to work with Jimmy but is forced to be the bad guy all because of Chuck.
man it must've made Chuck's skin crawl to have Jimmy sitting next to him at the head of the table. but man I feel so bad for Howard. He doesn't want to be a part of any of this petty drama, he just wants to do what's best for his firm and his people. The way he shifts his eyes towards Chuck at the end there, it's like he's saying " OK I played the bad guy for you but seriously you're just going to see there and let us tank a multimillion dollar case"
I blame Jimmy’s fall into the criminal underworld solely on Chuck. This was Jimmy’s chance to become a legitimate person and put his con artist past behind him, and Chuck rips his heart out by manipulating and lying to him.
Chuck is being Hypocritic and that makes me most angry at him Jimmy really tried and was actually good with his job. The scene With Chuck giving speech to Jimmy on road while he waits for police is Bs when he talks about changes and second chanses.
Jimmy had a good shot at becoming legit with Davis & Main but he screwed that up all on his own. Chuck screwed him but to pretend Jimmy wasn't inclined in that direction is wrong
@@ColddirectorDavid and Main really are the Gretchen and Elliot of BCS when you think about it. They remove all doubt that the main character is only a victim, they reveal their true natue
I remember how angry I was at Howard. But now at rewatch I feel even greater anger to Chuck for making Howard go through that AND being Hypocritic... 😤 Poor Howard he is decent good guy ☹
"What slight did I make to your fine, upstanding character that you can't forgive?" That question kinda takes the air out of the room when you rewatch this now.
This is one of the reasons why the show is great. It shows real drama. Here we see real animosity coming from one brother to another. Despite all his success, Chuck can’t digest the fact that his brother Jimmy found an easier way to become a lawyer. Chuck was always jealous that Jimmy always got away with anything he wanted. Now he couldn’t stand that Jimmy was gonna be “equal” to him. No would Chuck let a con man earn a spot in his kingdom.
You can SEE how much it hurts Howard to do this, to be caught between chuck and jimmy relationship, forced to do chuck's dirty work and receiving all the hate. Howard was a good man, he even tried to make amend because he know this is wrong. He didn't deserve anything that happend to him :(
I resonate with Howard. I've done questionable things for the sake of making my mentor proud of me. Turned my back on mutual friends simply because she said I should; people I had no issue with. Her sentiments became mine; if she said someone was a problem and had to go, and she'd say these things about anyone who questioned her, I believed her. Even with little to no evidence backing her up. Her mood impacted my day/mood. Good days were ones where she was happy and we got along well. Bad days were any when she was disapproving of something I said or did. Even after losing her, I felt as if I lost a great opportunity. She wasn't a good person, but in my head I think of her as someone great. I miss her, I despise her, and I feel as if a piece of me is gone for having lost her.
Relationships can be complicated that's for sure. Not that I'm saying she was abusive, but you can see even in those cases the victims can still look at their abusers with rose tinted glasses. It's good you seem to be honest to yourself about the relationship and that's what's most important. However, emotions don't always make sense. I guess just acknowledge what you went through, feel what you feel, and try to make better choices next time. Hope you're doing OK.

_This_ is how to do a plot twist. I absolutely hated Howard the first time watching this scene. Upon rewatch though, you can tell how much Howard hates doing this. Feel so bad for the poor guy that Chuck has to be such a spineless coward that he has to prop up Howard as his fall guy, instead of just coming out and saying what he feels before being strongarmed into doing it later.
Man I love the details in this show. Rewatching it now in preparation for the upcoming finale season. The look Howard gives Chuck at the end right before he leaves just screams to me "This is all your fault Chuck"
What i like so much with that show is the lack of music or any "tension" sound effects in 95% of times , wich is perfect ! Just amazing acting and great facials expression to control the scenes and flow .
Rewatching this scene while knowing the truth, I cannot believe how Howard could be so loyal to Chuck when he would use him as a scapegoat and let him suffer so much abuse from Jimmy because he was too much of a coward to oppose Jimmy directly until Jimmy figured out the truth himself.
I disagree. Sure it's what caused saul goodman but kim is ultimately who killed howard. Saul himself was hesitant with doing the plan. Even if Jimmy became Saul he would've mostly left howard alone if it wasn't for kim.
Howard go off too easy. He should have been poor and worthless for once in his life. Disbarred would have been nice to see. He probably has no useful skills outside of the law.
The sad part is, if people were upfront about things it could have worked out better for everyone involved. Jimmy may have been a conman, but he really showed that he could do productive legwork, and they could have given him at least a temporary office as a consultant for just this case. Even if Jimmy just knew it was basically only Chuck who didn't want him in, he wouldn't have wanted to screw over Howard or the entire company.
Kim wexler was one of their best lawyers with a 2 year partner plan, only for them to throw her away when she loses one client. Shows how unfair and unforgiving that business is.
And being hustled out of a big payday for 20 grand and MAYBE some money down the road. HHM was actually more scummy businesswise then any of the Drug dealing murderers we see on the show.
Contrary to what Chuck says, people can change if you let them. Not always but some can, and Jimmy could have. The sandpiper case showed that Jimmy can and was beginning to changing into a good and hard working lawyer, leaving his slippin Jimmy days behind him. If Chuck was a decent human being and a good brother, he would have at least recognized that and supported him. Instead of being the viper he was.
If Howard would have had some integrity and not did everything chuck told him to do, I think he would still be alive today and Jimmy and Kim wouldn’t of even did that plan they did. I personally think Jimmy was taking out his hatred he had toward chuck on Howard because deep down he knew Howard was just Chuck’s minion and he couldn’t get back at chuck any more now that he was dead. I know in the end we all felt bad for Howard but if he would have had a backbone and stood up to Chuck in the beginning, I think Kim and Jimmy would of had respect for him.
I agree. It's sad what happened to Howard, but ultimately he started his own downfall. He didn't deserve to die for it though, he would still be alive if he just didn't listen to Chuck.
It's funny, when I first saw this scene at 4:01 I thought the acting seemed off, especially from such a sensational actor. Makes sense in hindsight that it was acting in acting. Absolutely brilliant.
3:28 You know Howard wanted to tell Jimmy the truth and felt awful for putting him through that. And then at 4:03 when Chuck speaks up, Howard looks to him almost desperate that he will change his mind. Outstanding acting all around.
Crazy how Howard really had a great poker face. He took care of chucks dirty work, that's superb acting. His facial expressions and body language is insane for the situation
And this is the beginning of the end for Howard. This is the exact moment when Jimmy became Howards rival and Howard's future will depend on this single event in the show.
Chuck being as intelligent as he was couldn't put his emotions aside Jimmy in this grand opportunity. The opportunity I am referring to is not about the money or the case but to have control over Jimmy as his boss with the ability to keep an eye on him for the long term.
This here between Jimmy & Chuck is a story of a self-fulfilling prophecy. Jimmy wanted to do good work, but he kept getting kicked to the curb by his brother. If Jimmy had been taken into HHM, he would have probably worked hard to impress his brother. He might have become 'clean' too. But Chuck drove Jimmy away from that. And Jimmy did what he did best - be Saul. Every time Chuck could have been supportive, he wasn't, making Jimmy even more disgusted by this upstanding world. And he slipped back to what he knew best. Had Chuck not thrown Jimmy off the cliff so many times, maybe Jimmy would stop slippin'.
What I love about this scene is how genuinely impressed Howard is by Jimmy's work. Howard was never Jimmy's enemy, he was a supporter. The writers did a great job of making Howard, the rich, cocky confident partner seem like the obvious villain, but it was Chuck all along.

there’s actually a term for this if you’re curious. I ran into it in recent weeks and thought it was so cool, and your comment reminded me of it.
he’s called a static character (simple enough, no?). it can be very difficult to use them well. a relatively straightforward example is a villain/hero - they are the bad/good guys early on and they remain so throughout the plot. an interesting example as with Howard is that we realize nuance as the story goes on, but on review it turns out they were basically the same person throughout the plot. we can see these traits early on, it’s just that we assign new value to them now in knowing the full plot.
another example of thinking of characters in this way are dynamic characters - like who you mention apart from Howard. the point of them is to change as the plot progresses, for example: Walter White.
this observation is a slam dunk
Not entirely true, Howard did go to therapy and that definitely had an transformative effect on him.
Chuck would rather sacrifice a *multi-million* dollar and *multi-state* federal class action lawsuit for his *OWN* law firm than have Jimmy work at HHM….. just sick.

@@victora.1329 Yeah, I'm fine, thanks. I'm proud to say that I've never completely given up on life. I've always been moving forward, even if it's an inch at a time, which it was in the beginning.
2022 is 9 years since I lost her. I'm back up to speed, but I do find myself being reminded of her from time to time.
She gave me something I never had until then -- a sense of belonging. It was nice, but I have that now more so than I did even then. I just had a lack of faith in my own abilities back then which I now have. Clearing that up solved a lot of issues I was suffering from. 😊
How do you feel about him now 😐
Man I love the details in this show. Rewatching it now in preparation for the upcoming finale season. The look Howard gives Chuck at the end right before he leaves just screams to me "This is all your fault Chuck"
My god. Can't stop thinking how things eventually unravel for every single one of these characters.
Jimmy spent his whole life feeling like he was living in Chuck's shadow when in reality, the exact opposite was happening.
Back when everyone hated Howard . . . . Feels like a life time ago
1:45 The series could have just ended there with a freeze frame of Jimmy shaking Howard's hand and Chuck smiling on.
Chuck pretending to be confused/outraged shows how manipulative and duplicitous his character is.
This was the case that ultimately killed Howard in the end...
how?
I disagree. Sure it's what caused saul goodman but kim is ultimately who killed howard. Saul himself was hesitant with doing the plan. Even if Jimmy became Saul he would've mostly left howard alone if it wasn't for kim.
I feel bad for Howard here. He wanted Jimmy to be a partner but Chuck didn’t, so he had to be the bad guy here so things would go Chuck’s way.
This is mostly where all it started for Jimmy towards Howard. Season 6 Episode 7
.
btw Chuck was behind all of this.
It's nice to see this after the last BCS episode, given that I actually forgot about this scene!
It was Kim's idea to take it as far as they did, but Jimmy certainly wasn't lacking in motivation.
Howard go off too easy. He should have been poor and worthless for once in his life. Disbarred would have been nice to see. He probably has no useful skills outside of the law.
What really makes this sad is Howard probably would’ve loved to have jimmy on board
The sad part is, if people were upfront about things it could have worked out better for everyone involved. Jimmy may have been a conman, but he really showed that he could do productive legwork, and they could have given him at least a temporary office as a consultant for just this case. Even if Jimmy just knew it was basically only Chuck who didn't want him in, he wouldn't have wanted to screw over Howard or the entire company.
chuck's feigned surprise when howard refuses to hire jimmy really shows how much of a snake chuck is.
2:02 The humiliation. God, we've all been Jimmy in that moment at some point, breaks my heart.
Poor Howard wasn't a bad guy.
He was the poor sap caught in the middle of the world's worst sibling rivalry.
he was a bad guy. he chose to aid and abet bad behavior, no excuses.
i can’t help but laugh at 4:24 when jimmy tells howard to go to hell and slightly smiles, such killer acting
every scene with Chuck should have a trigger warning.
It’s great re-watching BCS with full knowledge of what was really going on.
I like 3:59. When Howard doesn't know how to explain himself Chuck saves him. It's hard to notice
This is the moment that Saul Goodman came into being. Imagine how different Jimmys life would have been if they’d have let him join their team.
4:52 Howard’s stare at Chuck says: “God dammit Chuck”.
i feel so bad for Howard
We want the case, we don’t want-
The case is all we want.
Excellent writing and delivery.
2:33 the last time Kim ever saw Jimmy.
It's just a playful thought, not my actual theory
Chuck actually looks proud of Jimmy at the beginning of this clip, it's a shame how this all played out
Imagine winning a multi-million dollar business client just to know you won't be in the team. 🤦♂️
Kim wexler was one of their best lawyers with a 2 year partner plan, only for them to throw her away when she loses one client. Shows how unfair and unforgiving that business is.
@@masterzombie161 yep! Happens when PoS partners like Chuck exists.
@Bully Maguire Howard also really respected Chuck because he mentored him to where he is today.
After what happened, I watched this and man it sucks. It was all chuck. Howard didn’t deserve any of this.
This was the beginning of the end for Saul and even Walter.
"What the hell just happened?" A whooooole lot more than you could have ever realized in that moment, Jimmy.
4:57 This is Chuck letting out a sigh of relief as the pain of sharing a table with Jimmy has come to an end.
5:01 It broke my heart
Chuck being as intelligent as he was couldn't put his emotions aside Jimmy in this grand opportunity. The opportunity I am referring to is not about the money or the case but to have control over Jimmy as his boss with the ability to keep an eye on him for the long term.
Rewatching it now... damn, it was right there in front of us...
Siempre me sorprende el corte al final de cada video... Y me sorprende la calidad de esta serie 💚
