In this video i diagnose the obvious symptoms that oil and coolant are mixing in my BMW e90 with n46b20 engine. Is it a blown head gasket or something minor?
Mine did the same thing, but it stopped starting only cranck. Funny before it acted up not starting there was power and no smoke at all My leader I wonder you could help me sort it out please alert.
Does cause the 2e81 code. Says my water pump is going bad but yesterday I had a yellow oil temp light then red 30 seconds later. I pulled over and all the coolant dumped out where the radiator and trans cooler meet so I'm not sure if it's the radiator, the trans cooler, the water pump, or all 3
That is most likely the PCV system sucking in oil when the valve goes bad. If it is the style that is under the intake, it's a PITA to fix but it can be done by yourself.

Normally it is the oil that gets into the coolant lines since the oil pressure is more. However when the engine stops running, oil pressure drops to zero whilst coolant system remains pressurized so its possible coolant could get into the oil system
did you ever check your transmission oil? there is some bits of oil in the expansion tank, dont you think there will be some water in the transmission?
the colour is generally the clue, trans fluid in autos is almost always red, you will be dealing with pink and creamy if its just the trans cooler. its not usually an issue as the trans cooler is part of the radiator which inevitably fails long before th cooler goes so it gets rreplaced before it goes bad. but pink and its your trans cooler, yellow/brownblack emulsified oil (thats what the creamy stuff is) and its your engine oil cooler. thoroughly flush the system and kep an eye on your rubber hoses, one by one, they will all start to fail due to the oil eating them away....which why the best flush possible is the way to go.

Yes ofc bcs the oil ady mix with coolant and also change ur coolant

I have oil in my coolant but it still drives good so I’m assuming it’s the same problem as this
You take it to repair shop crooks and they immediately tell you it's head gasket costing $1000s.

Going through this now. If it was the transmission cooler wouldn't it smell really bad like trans fluid (worst smell ever)?
Problem is it would have mixed and reacted with the coolant so i wouldnt be so sure about the smell
