Thank you so so much for this video. I just did a radiator swap, replaced 2/3 hoses, my thermostat, my coolant cap, my coolant reservoir, & even my bleeder screw, & I cleaned my oil cap during the process of some sludge that was built up, & I’ve only drove it twice since the swap because I had a leak & had to fix my temperature sensor cause the o ring went bad so I just replaced the whole thing & I just checked my oil cap & freaked out instantly cuz I just put $500 or more into the cooling system. So this video relieved me so much as my commute to work before this swap is strictly short drives as well (9 miles) so me cleaning the cap must’ve made it to where moisture could build up cuz I did see some little tiny moisture dots. So thank you, imma take my car on a long drive since I haven’t ina month or two & hope it goes away!

Yea my old durango did this during the cold. It was because the oil filler was plastic and long enough that it didn't get warm enough to drive off the mositure. No harmful effects other than it not looking normal. It looked more like the crema from an espresso.

I parked my mitsubishi pajero for three weeks only move it out the driveway once or twice a week i check the oil and it had this funny kind of milky oil same on the oil cap!! I completely freaked out! No white smoke 💨 coming out the exaust pipe and no missfires! Drove itfor 30 minutes and oil is clean! Check next day and coolant level is good and oil is still clean! Turned out moisture got inside the engine through condensation!! I felt my soul came back to my body! I quote a head gasket job on Mitsubishi Pajero 3er generation is about a $2000 job!! Great video thanks!! I know is about BMW but it also applies to other bands as well!!

Checked that my oil level has slightly increased, but the coolant hasnt gone down, checked the cap and there it was, a little bit of milky residue, totally freaked out, but i havent been driving the car much past week and it has been quite cold, hopefully its just a mix of level sensor being weird and not driving much, last thing i need! Had the oil filter gaskets replaced recently so also a posibility that they went, but nothing makes sense at this moment. More monitoring needed, but your video will definitely allow me to sleep tonight.

I just picked up a 2007 BMW 328i and attempted to drive it home on Christmas Eve. I bought it from an auction and all seemed well. I then picked it up today and when I started it, the engine was knocking. I drove it and went to the gas station and added one quart of 5W-30 Full Synthetic. I noticed the milky oil cap but also a little milky color on the part that I could see inside the engine. I drove it home and only got a mile or so down the highway. I had noticed that I had no heat. Then my yellow temp light came one. Then the red temp light came on and the car slowed down. I limped to the gas station. I had to run a red turn light because the car was violently shaking at a full stop. I called a tow truck and that has been my Christmas Eve. When I popped the engine, I didn't think the engine was all that hot. I unscrewed the coolant lid and a little steam and pressure came out, but nothing too much. Since the container is black, I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's water in the coolant bottle. Can anyone direct me on what to check from here? Thanks in advance!

I only drive like 5 mins to work and back mainly. My car hasn’t overheated according to the temp needle on dash. Outside temp has been around -30 degrees C to -8degreea c for last week or so. Would this be condensation like in the video or head gasket? How else would I know if it is the head gasket.

hey man. So i bought a 2006 BMW x5 3.0i 6cyl a few days ago. I got it for $1000. It had 170,000miles, a dead battery and i was informed from the owner that it had a blown head gasket from what i was told. I assumed there were maybe a few other things wrong with it but i haven't gotten to it yet. I checked the oil and it hadn't been changed in a long time(lots of condensation in the head and in the check valve tube i think thats what its called. I know i need to flush it and refill it. Also, the coolant resivor was bone dry and i couldn't tell if i needed to flush it with water first then refill it or just refill it with coolant. What should i do to flush the heavy condensations thats built up and what should i do for the radiator? Also if things don't work i ordered a whole head gasket kit so should i just tear it down to the head or start with the oils first?

I have a 96 328is E36, and I changed the fan clutch, thermostat, but my temperature gauge is a little passed the middle. Should I change the water pump? What do you recommend?

    • @frankgeeraerts6243
      @frankgeeraerts6243 6 років тому

      Thermostats come in different temperature.....
Some engine blocks run hotter than other ....
If in doubt , yes you can change the water pump and have checked the whole cooling system...
The correct oil type and oil level and correct working oil cooler .
      Water temperature sensor ...
Sludge , ( heater , full open and set to hot )..observe.
Never allow the engine to overheat !

How long would you say it takes to warm up? I've noticed especially in the winter, my oil takes a solid half hour of driving to warm up fully, and I see this milky stuff. I have an 07 335. I have a small coolant leak as well however, I've getting pretty worries about the poor girl

Would that cause the engine to overheat also? I have a 09 323i that has oil dots on the coolant and once I try it for about 15mins the car begins to overheat.

Quick question- is it normal to see a little bit of condensation after just one short drive? I dont see any under the oil cap when the engine gets up to temp. But when I go for a short drive, there is always some residue. The coolant level has remained constant.
Also, I dont see it happening in other cars- such as my 2020 jeep compass.
    Thanks!

I saw this Milky stuff on my 2004 BMW 318i today, only little bit on the cap and on the dipstick while checking for oil level. Should I be worried? I hardly drive my car and its usually on short distance drive.

I have. 2007 335i, the yellow temp light came on so I pulled over and turned the car off. Let it cool and started it back up and drove about 1 blocks and the yellow temp light came on again. Let it cool again driving fine and about 3 blocks later the temp light came in yellow & turned red so I pulled over & had it towed. No smell, no smoke & it cranks right up even though it looses power like to wants to cut off. What do you think it is?
