am i the only one thinking that the dell optiplex will go up in value because of how its not too hard to upgrade and has good performance for a office pc
I bought one with 32gb of ram and 1tb ssd for 200 a week and it's been fantastic. Bought a 1030 to go with it and it's been really solid. I haven't even owned a pc so I wanted to see if I liked pc gaming
Bought an Optiplex 9020 to use as a media PC. Mine came with a 4th gen i7, 32gb ram and a one TB SSD, and I added a second one TB SSD that was collecting dust. Surprised at how snappy the system performs with the GTX 1030 low profile card I pulled from a 12 year old PC the Dell is replacing. It got me thinking just what could I drop in this thing to max out its capabilities. Went with the GTX 1650 from MSI for its 4mb DDR5 vram. Frame rate means more to me than anything. Where the GTX 1030 could do Heaven BM at 720p nicely, the GTX 1650 can do that at 1080p. For giggles I dropped GTA5 on the system. Hey! This thing can peg 60 FSP while on-line on a big TV at 1080p very high settings. Last time I saw GTAV on a TV was on the PS4. This little Dell by comparison is killing it! No problem running some Halo. The things I play work great. Vsync pegged at 60 means the graphics card isn't working too hard and hopefully giving the God know how old power supply a rest too. (Did some video rendering, and shot the CPU temps above 90c. NOPE, not doing that again. And I recommend you do not do that either.) In even moderate gaming temps stay below 50c. Might hit 70c doing intensive gaming. HEY! Long as the Optiplex 9020 lasts??? It kinda rocks for what I paid for it. I love it! Even having a Ryzen 9, 64gbram 3080ti system also. That one? That's not hooked up to my TV. I wouldn't want to do that either because even though the Ryzen 9 system is not that noisy. . . the Dell SFF Opitplex is pretty much silent. And it games! (And I didn't destroy it stress testing the thing within its return period!) This thing might just last the 5 years as a media PC / TV gamer that I'd like to get out of it.
@@PassportBigBro What's probably most interest to you is I swapped the i7 4770 3.4 for an i7 4790 3.6 GHZ base clock in the 9020 SFF rig. Thermals are very good now. It can actually max all cores and just creep above 80c every now and then. Cause? The heatsink felt loose to me. That'll trash your thermals. It's also possible but I don't think so that the CPU could use some delidding. There's also a low profile RTX A2000 Ampere GPU in the system now. It's quite the little go getter, punching up above it's weight for sure. ??? The 4790 non-K came out of a mid tower Dell 9020. A 4790K 4.0 ghz went in that MT case. Thermals are similar to the SFF. You're leaving some potential on the table letting the 4790K boost itself in an Optiplex of all things. It sure works brilliantly though. Stays at about 4.3 GHZ all by itself with the high performance power profile in Windows. It's paired with an RTX 2060. 750 watt PSU. Run Cyberpunk well above 60 FPS at 1080p all day. It does much more than eSports titles. Why? Why not. The 9020 MT cost less than the 9020 SFF as it was mostly spare parts. The 4090K 4.0? I just said what the hell and put that in. It sure works! Buy three 9020 MTs for the cost of one used enthusiast morherboard to OC a 9020K. I'm using both the SFF and MT rigs myself. They're both great and close enough in performance that you might not know which one you were looking at. The mid-tower is better due to options from being able to replace the stock PSU. There are no case swaps here. I like the sleeper look.)
I'll also note I believe the RTX 2060 is a great pairing with the Dell mid-tower i7 4090K 4.0. For anyone who ever wanted a 1080TI on their Haswell box, the RTX 2060 is very comperable to that. Here's that rig. And now . . . I'm considering using a bios hack so this thing will boot off an NVME SSD on a PCI express card. A mid-tower actually DOES have room even with a graphics card. EXCEPT I like the system the way it is now. It's serving as an actual media PC and a center of attention in a home theater. It doesn't need more tweaking.
hello! I would like to install a graphics card model ASUS GTX 750 Ti on my 3020 SFF. Do I need to change any settings in the BIOS for the system to recognize the video card?
Lol, I was given the i7 version that was going to be sent to disposal from the IT guy at my old work . I love it for what it is, I've upgraded to 32GB RAM and a 1TB HDD, will grab a GTX 1650 low profile next. Awesome comparison, thanks for making this!

What cpu was this? Because csgo is a very cpu dependent game and I know my laptop can run it better then that. Intergrated graphics has to be far worse then a 1050 ti
My question can I remove the motherboard and put on a bigger case can I still use a better GPU I'm currently using a GT710 which is pure shit,if I buy a psu and a new gpu(my gpu range is 1070 or 1650 can't afford anything better than that)and a case..I'm wondering if I'll run into problems if I do that...

Yes, the mini-towers any day over the SFF Optiplexes. 4 ram slots is also a must, 3.0 GPU slot, and on and on. SFF boxes were ok five years ago but we are now in 2023, and time to say goodbye to them for good unless all you do it email and listen to music and watch YT. No gaming on SFF in 2023.

Hi RA Visuals,According to the official dell optiplex sff manual models such 9020,7020 .. ...do not support more than 25W per PCI-e . You have real relevant practical experience in testing models with video cards requiring more than 25W , so you do not have power issues, don't you?
After my findings. 25w is more of a recommendation, as the standard for the pcie slot is actually 75w I believe. If you can sneak in a better psu (there's like one better, 315w iirc) then you should be able to push for higher cards with less stress

im looking to upgrade the 180w psu inside my 7050 sff but I dont know if the power supplys Im looking at on amazon are compatible with any of these gpus (im new to pc gaming btw so I have very little idea what im doing).
I don't know if you're still looking to upgrade or not since it's been seven months, however, most of these power supplies should generally be compatible with these GPU's. Just make sure the power supply has enough wattage and power capacity to hold in the amount of power that it'll hold! 👍

I bought one with 32gb of ram and 1tb ssd for 200 a week and it's been fantastic. Bought a 1030 to go with it and it's been really solid. I haven't even owned a pc so I wanted to see if I liked pc gaming
you saved my buddy, know all i have to do is putt in a 1050 ti for then call it good since this will be his first gaming pc
Great video Ricky! I have this computer. Which one of these cards is compatible with Windows 11 ? The integrated video is not. Thanks!
I'm honestly not sure! I haven't even dipped into windows 11 yet
What about taking out the board and put it in a mid tower with a better psu and a 24 to 8 pin adapter?
You could do this but from what I've researched, you have to take all of the connections to the new case still. Would make quite a mess
(And I didn't destroy it stress testing the thing within its return period!) This thing might just last the 5 years as a media PC / TV gamer that I'd like to get out of it.
love to see it man! Its great that these can still get plenty of use from people!
I have the same system and I was hoping to do some slight rendering using da Vinci and you’re saying you clock 90° or more oh nooooo lol😢
I recently bought a 5050 what gpu would work best with this?
Will an ASUS 1650 Work too because it looks bigger and different in shape?
Thanks for the awesome video. what's your opinion to use for my SSF Dell 9010 i7 3770 240 watt
GOD BLESS YOU, YOU DID THE BEAUTY FULL WAY, WANTED TO LEARN MORE AND MORE FROM YOU
So I got the 1650 but I keep looking things up and the more I do the more I find people saying “it won’t fit” and some other shit
Can I fit a normal 1050ti if I remove the PSU and leave it outside. Because I don't have a low profile one and I'm scared that it won't fit
Its really an issue of clearance with the cd drive and the hard drive cage in front of the GPU. The case is very limiting
@@RAVisuals I cleared the cage already but I think that it won't fit, maybe ill do a hole at the case or something lol
Thank you so much for this!🖤
No problem 😊
hello! I would like to install a graphics card model ASUS GTX 750 Ti on my 3020 SFF. Do I need to change any settings in the BIOS for the system to recognize the video card?
Oh my god thank you so much for this video! It was what I needed!!! Too bad you couldn't test the RX 6400 though!
2070 lp is much better.
@@johncollins5552 From my searching, it's more than double the price of the 6400 but not double as good. Did I miss something?
Lol, I was given the i7 version that was going to be sent to disposal from the IT guy at my old work . I love it for what it is, I've upgraded to 32GB RAM and a 1TB HDD, will grab a GTX 1650 low profile next. Awesome comparison, thanks for making this!
Right on!! what a gift haha
Hey man great video. So I just purchased this pc with hopes of running a smooth stream through it with a PS5. Which graphics card would you suggest?
does the pci x4 slot produce enough power to the 1050 or do you need to plug it in to the psu?
It has enough power for a 1050
I have a 1650 in my optiplex as a 2nd pc for game emulators. Maybe you should do some videos on emulators and roms
I used it as an emulator in the video! It was so fun!
Can you go up to ps3 and xbox 360?
Hello, I have a dell 9020 sff and moved the mobo into the m-atx case, can a normal model not LP, gtx 1050ti run a oem 255w psu? because I don't want to upgrade to a bigger psu
yes it can!
I've got an RX6400 in my 3010 (3rd gen I5) and apart from not being able to encode video, it works quite well -- in a single slot as well.
Will a GIGABYTE Radeon RX 6400 D6 Low Profile fit in a dell optiplex 3020 or do I have to mod the case?
What cpu was this? Because csgo is a very cpu dependent game and I know my laptop can run it better then that. Intergrated graphics has to be far worse then a 1050 ti
My question can I remove the motherboard and put on a bigger case can I still use a better GPU I'm currently using a GT710 which is pure shit,if I buy a psu and a new gpu(my gpu range is 1070 or 1650 can't afford anything better than that)and a case..I'm wondering if I'll run into problems if I do that...
is it possible to fit 1660 super into 9020 sff?
no. the 1660 super does not come in an LP version
@@RAVisuals ok nvm i bought 7040 mt with i7 6700 and 32gb ddr4 ram and put gtx 1660 super and a 500w psu in it, and i actually really like the way this pc can get so much fps for so cheap
This is the video I needed as I have a Dell SFF 7020 that I can get a Nvidia Ge-Force LF 1650 graphics card for a great price new! Looks like I won't have to cut the back of my PC to fit it now. lol And losing 10% seems like a good sacrifice and it should still run the arcade games I want to on my build.
I'm doing something similar and hoping to get all,the way to stuff like sf5
How do you make sure it will fit in before buying the Graphics card?
I had to measure it! haha
at the moment what's the best graphic cards that can fit in a optiplex 7010 sff? i was thinking for a rx580 but idk if it would fit
I believe its the 1650 low profile or the rx 550 low profile
Thanks for the great video! This might be a dumb question but does the MSI version of the 1650 and the Gigabyte version have different sizes? Like one won't fit in my 9020? or performance issues. Anyway great video.
You need to have an Optiplex MT to fit most graphics cards. If you have a sff you need a low profile card.
So a 1650 super want fit will it?
Nice, I got a GTX 1050 Ti for only £59.99 coming soon, very exited to play CS:GO with high FPS even when its 1080p!
How do I put in a graphics card and ram in my dell PC? I'm new to building pcs
i picked up a 3020 for 45 bucks and im very happy with it as im using it mostly as a media pc in my living room but i also want to get into modifying pc's and use this one as my labrat to experiment on since ive never opened a pc before. Gonna up the ram and maybe put a 1650 in if i can find one for a reasonable price

hi friend, I have a question pls…. I have same optiplex 9020 with 32GB ram, i7, 2t SSD, 240w power supply…. I want to know if I add the graphics card, will I be able to use (Davinci Resolve) to edit videos??
So I might be able to get an AMD FirePro W4100 for free. I know it's a bit on the bigger side, but do you think that would work with this one?
This VGA is really work with original power supply?
I also have optiplex 9020 mini, and I really want to add a VGA cart 4 GB.
Who is better? Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1650 or MSI GeForce GTX 1650 ?
They will basically be the same haha

nope! the 1050ti is low powered enough for the stock psu

@RA Visuals will a RX 550 Half Height card fit and work in a dell OptiPlex 3020 sff ?
You have to get the "LP" or low profile versions to fit in this system
are these cards good for video editing with premiere pro? if so which would be recommended for the 9020?
They are good yes, the more budget you got the better gpu you can get, if you are gonna be using it only for premiere pro I suggest go for Quadro GPUs there are some cheap yet powerful but if you wanna game too then go for 6400 in budget or if you got cash go for rtx 4060 lp or 3060lp

Depends on the types of games. They are still great for emulation, and the form factor works well for TV setups.
I am gaming just fine on an SFF Optiplex 790 with a RX550, gets playable frames on War Thunder, World of Warships, etc.
I'm interested in putting an rx 550 2gb in my Dell optiplex 7020 SFF with an i-5 4590, it comes with a 255W psu. Would I need to upgrade the psu or is that enough for the 550?🤔
What is the best budget graphics card for the 3020 sff?

how much spare wattage does the Dell 3010 have? Since its only 200W be default I am curious.

totally smooth!
Would i need to reapply thermal
only if you feel like it needs it!

the 3020 sff doesn't have a second video card slot it only supports single slot cards which wont work with the 1050 ti or 1650 lp i dont think the 750ti would work unless you had a certain type

If you can sneak in a better psu (there's like one better, 315w iirc) then you should be able to push for higher cards with less stress
hey! will the A2000 fit my optiplex 3020? I5 SFF and would a power supply help?
It would fit. A2000 draws pretty low power for what it does.

You'll probably have to run the psu externally if it's a sff optiplex. They also sell 315w sff optiplex psus
I have a question, I have the optiplex 3020 model, can I install those graphics cards?
i believe 1650s would do, or 1050 ti since rx580 need more psu
im looking to upgrade the 180w psu inside my 7050 sff but I dont know if the power supplys Im looking at on amazon are compatible with any of these gpus (im new to pc gaming btw so I have very little idea what im doing).
I don't know if you're still looking to upgrade or not since it's been seven months, however, most of these power supplies should generally be compatible with these GPU's. Just make sure the power supply has enough wattage and power capacity to hold in the amount of power that it'll hold! 👍
