Want a fun drinking game? Take a shot for how many times I say "Dell Optiplex 3040"! I promise not to say the model name as much for the next video lol
PMSL....you did do an awesome job though
i have built PCs for quite a while now, but this is pretty interesting modding stuff. you have my sub!
Thanks once again. I just found it slightly annoying watching the video back lol
Thanks Aaron! I appreciate the sub. I have a few more modding ideas for the future.
should of made that cut out smaller so you could of hide the wires and the power supply :D but great video maybe the next one
Dude we’re so spoiled with modern cases. This is a cool project you have going👍
Glad to hear you think the project idea is cool! I agree. Anyone can buy a case, but to customize and make your own unique case is where it's at!
I still want 5.25" bays. Shame that many new cases no longer have them
@@WiltshireTutorials I am a bit late, but nice job done :) would be sweet if you use some black sticker or paint on top of cooler and PSU :) i made yesterday optiplex XE3 (same pc with usbC and i3-9100F+rx480) :) had to cut a bit of graphics and from front case part :)
@@ArtisChronicles Yeah. I got into PC modding way too late, it seems. I love the IBM/Lenovo Thinkpads and wanted to get a Lenovo Thinkcentre but they didn't have a single tower with a full-size optical bay.
I ended up buying a modded Optiplex 1020.
@@ArtisChronicles I'm still rocking my Coolermaster Elite 430 because computer cases with 5.25" drive bays are pretty rare. They all have the cookie cutter 3 RGB fans in the front and a rear RGB fan.
Lol less than a minute in and I can't count the number of times you've already said the full model number over and over. Must've been fun xD
Jokes aside, awesome video.
Thanks! Didn't expect to see you around here! Didn't realize how many times I said "Dell Optiplex 3040" either lol. I'll remember not to do that so much next time!
Dell Optiplex? More like Dell Optiflex now.
:D
I am upset that I didn't come up with that myself...
Optiplex fits perfectly given the plexiglass side cover
Hmmm, very true lol
@@WiltshireTutorials I'll consider it a joint effort. :P
AshenEclipse do you mind if I use this? I built a sleeper build in a really old optiplex case and I’d love for it to be called that
WOW...Kenneth you are a real tech wizard 🧙♂️...amazing lesson on size matters with making all the parts fit into the Dell Optiplex ! Thanks dude for teaching us how to upgrade our computers 💻 into gaming beasts...!!! Scarboro 🇨🇦☮️💚
@Wiltshire Tutorials : Congrats on reaching the 30k milestone + Looking forward to the third (Final) video on the Dell Optiplex !
Thanks Scarboro 🇨🇦🍀💚
Thanks! Always best to measure to see if something fits before spending money on it!
I appreciate that! Couldn't have crossed the 30K mark without folks like yourself! The 3rd video on Optiplex will be soon. I'm shooting for sometime this weekend!
You are very good and entertaining man. Keep up the good work :)
Thanks! I wouldn't call myself entertaining, but I'm glad you think so!
@@WiltshireTutorials Nah man you speak very very clearly and its just mesmerising listening to you
Glad you think so! Believe it or not, I used to have a speech impediment! Started UA-cam 11 years ago. By talking in videos over the years, it fixed the speech impediment :D
I subbed because of that montage video too! I like how you explained why it was wrong. I felt like wow I can probably learn a lot from this guy. This upgrade is pretty nice!
Thanks for dropping by my channel and subscribing from the super-cut! I appreciate it very much! The whole idea of my reaction video to the The Verge's build video was to explain what was done wrong and correct those mistakes with detailed explanations. Glad to hear you like the video as well!
Great tutorial! You just answered A LOT of questions I had from the first video. Looking forward to the next one, Cheers.
Glad you like the video and that I was able to answer some of the questions you had! Thanks for watching!
You got another sub and bell. Such a joy to see young enthusiast building and modding. Great job man. Wish you all the best. Looking forward to see more videos.!
I appreciate the kind words! Glad you like the video! Although, I'm not as young as you think! I'm 25, almost 26 ;P
You got me! I'm binging all your content after seeing that Verge supercut haah!
I appreciate you dropping on by! Hope you're enjoying my content! Thanks for watching. Hope you stick around for more!
the first mod you should always do when messing with older cases is to get rid of that raw machining grey finish on the frame. nothing else matters until thats no longer grey
I will more than likely paint the inside of the PC for the next video! It was 1AM when I was finishing the video, so no store was open to buy some paint to do so!
I usually end up removing the HDD bay first, just did it today to an OptiPlex 9020 MT so I could fit a GPU in there.
@@WiltshireTutorials The stuff they spray in the back of truck beds works great, i did a mod and had the inside coated with some and it turned out GREAT!!! No more silver garbage.
I'm in the automotive business and that bed liner spray is nasty stuff. Be careful spraying that stuff. Definitely wear as much protective gear as possible. Regardless, that's a pretty neat idea to use that liner spray.
Liked & subscribed, thank you so much for covering turning the 3040 optiplex into a sensible machine. I bought a n i5 6 core 3060 Optiplex and thought, what was I thinking buying a machine with such limited upgrade potential and hardly any space for anything until I was your videos on the subject! You totally restored my sanity, thank you SO MUCH!!!!
You're welcome. I'm glad you liked OptiFlex! Hopefully you've watched all the way through my OptiFlex playlist. This video was only the beginning! Thanks for watching!
Great man! Just great! Wish I could try all this stuff.
I also felt really good hearing the satisfaction in your voice😁
Got my sub!
Glad you like the video and project! Never too late to try a mod of your own! Thanks for watching and for subscribing!
That looks fantastic. I use that Pro 7 cooler all the time, its a bloody good cooler for the price and nice and small for smaller cases.
Thanks! I was actually blown away by how good that little cooler actually was! Would highly recommend for small form factor builds!
What kind of temps are you getting and what processor?
@@WiltshireTutorials what temps were you getting?
This is great Content. I like Paul's hardware and Jayztwocents etc etc, but this is unique and takes a lot of work. I love fixing up older computer's, but never really thought about case modding. This day and age it seems easier and cheaper to get a case.
Love the video let's see some benchmarks and if it's not too personal price over performance
I'm happy to hear you think my content is great! I too enjoy those UA-camrs! I'm always trying to bring the full potential out of technology that I have laying around. I'm just happy I rescued this PC from a landfill! I will be benchmarking the PC. Adding the price over performance is not a bad suggestion! I'll write it down and include it in the next video.
Cool project. You have an excellent demeanor and calm energy which is good for computer videos.
Thanks! ASMR PC videos anyone? Just kidding. I'm calm by nature. I don't get mad often. So, I guess that's a good thing lol
I just finished building a Dell optiplex 9010 into a gaming PC for my little brother. Glad to see I'm not the only one giving Dell optiplexs second lives. Keep it up. Subscribed
Right on, George! Always cool to see other's find new uses for old tech! Keeps things out of the landfill! Thanks for watching and subscribing. I appreciate it!
Some benchmarks would be nice to see how that boy runs. Badass mod man, these are the same Optiplex we use at work with office workers, sadly after EOL IT just trash them :(
Thanks! I will definitely be bench-marking the Optiplex. Curious to see how it does myself! A lot of companies tend to trash perfectly good PCs when they reach end of life status. Which I think is dumb.
thank you for not being loud and using slow music unlike every other channel ever. Keep it up.
No need to thank me. Gotta do something different from other channels to separate myself from the pack! Thanks for watching!
Can't leave without subscribing your channel.. Look forward to see these kind of projects again and again. This mod was freaking awesome dude!!
I appreciate the kind words! Also, thanks for subscribing and watching. It means a lot!
@@WiltshireTutorials Gave a thumbs up too..
My man!
Stellar job, as always. Also, congrats on getting a spike in subs again! Thought the Verge thing happened a while back, weird it's resurfaced, but hey, as long as the channel's growing, it's great. As always, I got a couple cool ideas to further "prettify" this build, just a few suggestions.
That piece of the side panel you cut out? Try bending it and making a PSU shroud. If you want to keep the up facing PSU fan, just cut that side panel and bend it so it only covers the "rat's nest", or just drill holes over the fan, might look cooler if you're up for it.
Needless to say, if you went RGB and wanna go all out, there are some cool 80mm and 90mm RGB fans I found on AliExpress, I can link em if you're interested. Also on there is a good and cheap braided extension cable set for like $12, I used it in my project and it's awesome.
Speaking of my project, it's almost complete, got a few small things to add, but I'll share some of the pics here. To remind you, this is all 2013/2014 components from my old rig, pimped for today's standards with mostly bought cheap RGB and other guff from AliExpress, also a modded GPU AIO cooler and a very shitty and restrictive gaming case. Proved to be quite a challenge... Anyway, here are the pics imgur.com/a/ULHAaj5
Wanted to log the whole build and AIO modding process, but it was so damn hot and I usually work without a shirt, so that would've been awkward, lol. Anyway, hope you like it.
Thanks man! That Verge video is the gift that keeps on giving!
I pondered over the idea of doing a PSU cover/shroud. Not sure if it would affect the airflow in the case or not. Might be worth testing the thermals with one in it vs not having it. I'll look into maybe 3D printing one out of plastic. Having more metal near components may not be a good thing lol.
I did look into getting some RGB fans for the build on Aliexpress. However, it would've taken 2-3 weeks to get to me. I wanted to film the video as soon as possible and couldn't wait that long. Even if they didn't have sleeved or braided cables, I would just sleeve the cables myself. I did that for the this Optiplex build for the CoolerMaster fan, the SATA power extension cable for the SSD and the 8-pin to 24-pin motherboard cable.
Dude! You're build is looking pretty good! Definitely dig the look of the PC. Crazy to see what kind of parts you can find on Aliexpress sometimes! Keep me posted with more images of your progress on your build!
@@WiltshireTutorials Glad you liked the build! Yeah, just need it to run properly and do benchmarks, other than that, it's almost complete. I'll post some benchmarks once it's fully up and running.
I understand not wanting to wait long for stuff from Ali, it literally took me 2 months just because I was waiting for all the parts, still waiting for that 780 replacement...
Also, braiding cables yourself is admirable, I tried and it's tedious as heck, especially if it's PSU extension ones. Though AIO cooler modding wasn't easy either, but pretty fun. That's why I like watching your vids, really cool and challenging stuff you're doing. Been subbed for a year now, here's to many more :)
Looking forward to seeing the benchmark numbers! Aliexpress seems to take up to a month sometimes for things. Even if I pay for faster shipping... Braiding cables is a bit of a pain sometimes, but it's worth it. Glad you like the content man! More videos are coming!
@@WiltshireTutorials Great to hear, hoping to see more stuff like this and obviously to see the conclusion of the Optiplex saga. Also, I forgot to include the item+price list I ended up with on my project, I'll add it here if you wanna take a look. imgur.com/a/I3OcLFm
Nice! Pretty good parts list there. Not bad for under $500! Let me know how some of those parts work. Would love to know the thermals those coolers get!
I subbed from the verge video and forgot I subbed. Good video.
I appreciate you hitting that sub button! Glad you liked the video. Hope you stick around for the future content!
Was about to sleep but manage to see it in my recomended, pretty sweet mod man ,earned a sub
Although I appreciate you watching and subscribing, you shouldn't forgo sleep to watch my videos! Sleep is important!
Great mod! I love seeing old office PC’s given a new life rather than ending up in a recycling center. These are great for people just getting into PC gaming that can’t afford a high end system. The only thing I would do different is opening up the back where the PSU is a bit more. Could have some overheat issues if it can’t push the hot air out. Maybe just a few drilled holes. Other than that, solid build! Can’t wait to see more vids!
Thanks Chris. It does make me sad when I see perfectly good PCs being thrown away. Such a waste. Pre-built PCs are definitely a good entry point to PC gaming! As for the PSU, I tested the thermals of the PSU and it seems to be fine the way it is now. The fan on the PSU barely ever comes on under full load! I will keep an eye on it though! Thanks for the suggestion and for watching!
To be honest Kenneth, I came here from the super cut and i find that your video in that part was more interesting as im a noob pc builder and your input n thoughts in the video was much more educational because at first, i thought the verge pc build was meh ok but turns out it was NOT ok at all so hi there!
I appreciate you dropping by my channel! The whole idea of my video was to not make fun of them per se, more poke fun while educating people on what to do right. So, I'm glad I could help you learn about PC building!
I'm honestly surprised the verge's pc actually works.
Yesssss YEEEEET MORE POWAA
YYYYYYEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTT. IM GIVIN ER ALL SHE'S GOT CAPTAIN!
I've cut up cheap cases for years and I think you did a great job!
Thanks Joe! It gets better though! I did a few more videos on OptiFlex to improve the overall look of it!
Awesome video! I'm going to do this in the near future with my 7010. Thank you.
Thanks! Glad I inspired you to do a little modding of your own! Would love to see your mod when you're finished!
"This rainbow fan cable is ugly as sin"
ALSO
(Referencing RGB lighting) "Yes, this looks nice, I'm very happy with that."
Full-chroma-scale design philosophy: "Am I a joke to you?"
Hmm, I guess that was a bit hypocritical of me to say that lmao
@@WiltshireTutorials don't worry about it, I found it funny!
And the rainbow wired fan, should be a Delta fan, that are great fans.
It just wasn’t strong enough, WAS IT!?!

rubber edge trims would be absolutely great on those cuts and car window film tint for the acrylic for the scratches to be gone forever... along with turning the top as a fine mesh hole for better airflow! man I love case modding
Good suggestions! I was given the suggestion of edge moulding/trim earlier and I'm currently looking into it. I also had debated over tinting the acrylic. I'm still undecided on that. Lastly, I did think of ventilating the top of the case and putting exhaust/intake fans on the top. Unfortunately, there isn't enough clearance for fans at the top. Maybe with slim fans I could get away with it. I'll have to order one in and measure things to find out.
Thanks for watching!
Impressive stuff man! You've got some serious skills.

Looks awesome!!
Thanks, Justin! It gets better in my newer videos!
Very cool mod project! Such an improvement to the look of the ugly stock case. I've got an Optiplex 9020 on the way, which I had been planning on swapping into a better looking case. A friend told me however, that there's all sorts of proprietary Dell stuff that doesn't really allow case swapping, so that kind of put the brakes on that idea. But luckily, I've got a bunch of Lexan lying around my garage, all the tools in the world, and a steady hand, lol! Thanks for sharing this video dude!
Glad you like the project, George! I just recently finished the project entirely with my most recent video. There are some proprietary connectors that you may run into. But, most of them can be bypassed by an adapter.
Amazing work! Subscribed.
Glad you like it! OptiFlex gets better through-out my newer videos :D
The computer looks great, and its clear that you have a lot of work into it. My only recommendation would be to go ahead and make yourself some custom length (and possibly sleeved) cables for the interior to clean up the "rats nest" that you mentioned in the video at the bottom of the case. They aren't hard to make at all, and will GREATLY improve the aesthetic of the PC now that you've got that big beautiful window.
Glad you like the look of the build! I have sleeved some cables before. I'm currently looking into it. As you said, it will definitely make things easier to cable manage. I may add a PSU shroud as well. Depending on what the thermals looks like when adding it.
Thanks for watching!
That looks fucking amazing 😂 keep these prebuilt office PC mods coming bro loving it
Glad to hear you like it! I have a few more video idea for this PC. May end up modding a different pre-built PC in the future.

Love seeing an optiplex spec’d out.
My optiplex 7010 has a i5-3470 , 12 GB RAM, GTX 1060 3Gb. Runs every game I want to play with respectable settings of course 🤝
The Optiplex isn't quite done yet. Gotta do the benchmarks and tweak the 3040 to get the best performance out of it! That's a beast of an Optiplex you have there!
Wiltshire Tutorials nothing compared to yours though bro 🤝
Mine is just overkill for overkill sake lol
This gives me motivation for my Dell 790... So far just need to clean and put all the upgraded parts. I'll post benchmarks once shes all done.
Glad I could inspire you to take on a project of your own! Keep me posted on how things go. I'd love to see the final results!
I've owned a couple optiplex's in the past and turned them into gamer's but never with this much modding. Nice job bro.
Thanks John! Glad to hear you liked the video!
Abit late to the party here. I forgot I subbed to you since the verge controversy! Glad I remembered. As of now I also plan to mod my old OEM PC by giving the case a fresh new look by spray-painting and replacing the outdated hardware, pretty lucky I saw this video because it immediately lit up my eyes in your channel. Hope it works!
Better late than never! Thanks for subbing and dropping on by! I appreciate it very much. Good luck with your build
Thanks! and btw what rgb led strips did you use for the optiflex side panel? My build is similiar to yours and it will be a great fit for mine as well as for yours.
You're welcome! If I can remember correctly, I used the Deepcool Rgb 200 Pro strips plugged into a Fractal Design Adjust R1 RGB LED Controller
oh man. I have a old (2002 ish) sony vaio tower when they went black and sleek and I had already done one "sleeper" build in it. I really wanted to add a window like this just to go further, this is awesome
Would love to see you put a window on the old Vaio tower! Glad you liked the video. Thanks for watching!
This is great. I did something similar to my dell optiplex 7010. Which I would of highly recommended over this pc because the 7010 Mini Tower has a bigger chassis which is much better for cable management and for airflow mods. The only downside is the age of the processors which is sandybridge and ivybridge. Some newer models use Haswell tho. I threw an R9 Nano in mine. Works great.
The 3040 tower is extremely cramped. Definitely agree with going with the 7010 case or an OptiPlex 9020-T instead! An R9 Nano is a good choice for some 1080P gaming! Would love to see some photos of your build!

@@nqabacharles2689 Hmmm, SFF are really difficult due to space limitations. I personally don't like SFF PCs, so I wouldn't know.

Your verge video was so funny. Great channel. :)
Thanks! Glad you like the channel. Thanks for watching!

Glad to hear that. Thanks for watching!
It's refreshing to see someone doing actual case modding in this day and age. If I could make a suggestion, radius your corners with a 1" radius and use rubber door edge molding on the cut edge to give the window opening a nice finished appearance. The narrower the molding the tighter of a radius it will make. Anyway, keep up the good work and I hope you go far.
I haven't seen many mods in a few years myself! Never even thought of putting rubber edge trim/moulding. May have to investigate and experiment with how it looks on the PC! Good suggestion! Thanks for watching.

Great job on cutting the window! How did you make sure that the painter's tape was straight, level and square for the cut? Or did you just eyeball it?
What I like to do is measure from the edge. Usually in the middle, near the top and near the bottom and make marks. After that play connection the dots and that will give you a pretty square line.
was thinking of doing a build like this myself with an old dell original XPS case my only issue is that the MB stand offs and the motherboard layout are dell's own so it will be a top to bottom job only using up to date parts rather then the existing dell ones...LOL...great vid...you have a new sub

Hey! I'm doing that too brother! Except im using a different optiplex tower. Good build, now my goal is to do better
Awesome! Would love to see some photos of the finished mod! Let me know if you have any questions when it comes to tools, etc.
Great video... I buy an off lease office pc every time I see one for a dirt cheap price locally. I dont cut in any windows because the stock motherboard and cooler are just ugly. However, there is some rubber trim you can get on Amazon that sticks right next to the rough edges and makes the cut out look more finished. Also adding 4 feet to the bottom will let you have a bottom mounted intake fan pulling in cool air. Hot air rises and that is why a second fan on the top of the case is perfect, plus they make all sorts of fan grill covers to camouflage rough dremel cuts. An i7 with 16gb of ram a 120gb ssd and a 1tb mechanical drive paired with a gtx 1650 oc ddr6 model makes an awesome cheap gaming pc. I do not upgrade the power supplies to add better graphics cards however. If I'm going to buy a new psu and adapters I feel like I might as well build from scratch.
Glad you liked the video, Daniel! It's crazy how much value you get out of some office PCs! Most are trash. But, there are some hidden gems! Most of your suggestions, I'm way ahead of you ;D. Check out OptiFlex's current form here: ua-cam.com/video/GQEwd-8NRfA/v-deo.html

I'm glad you like the OptiFlex Project!
Thanks! I appreciate it very much!
Dude, you are really amazing.
Appreciate the kind words! Make sure to check out the latest video on OptiFlex! It only gets better! 😁
I like how you pulled it off and it really looks great. but I noticed around 15:30 that the power supply air flow is choked. I hope you don't take this the wrong way but I suggest trying to widen the clearance for the power supply's air flow and add a screw hole mount at the same time.
Thanks! No offense taken. I encourage constructive criticism! I do plan on cut more metal away to allow the PSU to breathe a little more.
Suggestions:
Get a decent grinder, must've taken forever cutting that hole with a dremel.
Paint the inside of the case black.
Cut out the back of the case around the psu so it can breathe properly and drill the proper holes for mounting it.
I have a grinder. Couldn't find it while filming the video. I may have left it as my cottage. I'd rather shoot the video with a Dremel anyway. Most people will not want to touch a grinder, if they're inexperienced.
Great build ! I have an optiplex 3060 and I would like to change the PSU(to install a more powerful gpu) but it has a 6 pin connector on the motherboard instead of 8 . I have checked with the multimeter and it has : white 12v ,black -ground ,green 5v and grey -nothing . My question is : Do I wire the grey to the power good on the 24 pin and the green to standby 5v ?
Thanks! Instead of taking a chance on the wire pinouts for the PSU, just buy an adapter for your Optiplex. They make them and are quite cheap!
Good and funny job! compliments
Thanks for the kind words, Mike! I appreciate it!
i hope after this, that you eventually bought an angle grinder. one of the first things i bought for my pc building, and it is a GODSEND.
I have one. But, I prefer to take my time with things. Less chance of things going wrong when you're patient.
Nice project
Thank you! Cheers!
amazing bro thanks for idea
You're welcome. Let me know if you have any questions
Always lucky when a prebuilt PC allows for so much upgrading! I'm currently struggling with some old office PCs that either 1. don't boot with cards that don't support legacy boot (as far as I understood) 2. are proprietary as all hell so power supply upgrades are impossible or 3. don't accept different CPUs.
Recently wanted to mod the case of a Fujitsu Celsius 410 with a sidewindow, but the toolless sidepanel hinge was so loose it could barely hold the panel on.
I got lucky with finding the Mini Tower variant of the Optiplex 3040 and not a small form factor variant! That allowed me to put larger more powerful components into the PC. I hate having to deal with GPUs when it comes to Legacy and UEFI BIOS issues. Very annoying.
Try maybe adding a custom psu shroud made of acrylic would do well to hide those cables. Nice video btw 👍
That thought did cross my mind while building the PC. I'll probably end up adding one. Not sure how it would affect the thermals on the inside. Perhaps I'll test the thermals with the shroud on and off next video!
Great video and super craftsmanship. My only other thought to hide the cables and not impact the thermals, what if you changes your cut out shape? Maybe raise the lower border to the top of the psu to hide it and the cabling. Or leave the psu showing but have the metal raise vertically from the bottom, just in front of the psu and then cut to the right just under the bottom of the gpu, that would block the view of the cables. Great job, just some thoughts for others or your next mod. I’m subscribed and looking forward to more content. Lots of people can throw money at an all new build, you did a great job of updating and improving the form and function of the system!
Glad you like the video Keith. Thanks for leaving some feedback on the video. It helps me figure out what I'm doing right and what I can improve on! Also, thanks for leaving some suggestions! Not a bad suggestion! Although, I'm in the stage of finalizing the design for the PSU shroud I'm going to make for the Optiplex. Lastly, thanks for subscribing. I appreciate it!
Dude you earned my sub, was watching some other tech videos, and this one just auto started after a other video, i thought damn need too sub too this one so i did :D
Bless Autoplay lol. I'm glad UA-cam brought you here. Thanks for watching and subscribing. I appreciate it!
Nice mod mah dude. SFF/HTPC FTW!
Thank you! Glad you like it! Thanks for watching
Very nicely done. I didn't know Corsair made SFF PSUs. I was looking for a PSU upgrade for my HP Prodesk 400 G5 SFF, which is very slim and long like Flex ATX. I only saw some unfamiliar brands for suspicious prices 😞
Thank you! I just recently found out that Corsair made SFX PSUs we well! They're not cheap though!
Nice work.
Thank you!
@@WiltshireTutorials It's good to see people doing old school mods to there case just like we did back in the day. That's where I started all my computer building, with a dremel, some cold cathode tubes, and some switches from the automotive store. We didn't have RGB fans and strips and what have ya like there is out there now.
Glad you like the mod! I'm older than I look. I'm 25 (almost 26). So, I've been around people in the past who modded their Windows 95 gaming PCs! Could be one of the reasons why I like modding and PC hardware so much. I remember UV reactive fans were one of the big things to do to PC back in the day lol
@@WiltshireTutorials Funny you would say that. Next build I have coming up on my channel will feature UV reactive glow in the dark fan grills and other UV elements in an old school case from the late 90's (retro mod). i.postimg.cc/7YYQwvtF/glo.jpg Just waiting on my cold cathodes to get here.
That looks awesome! Looking forward to seeing your project be completed! I have a lot of nostalgia with UV parts!
Hey mate, yes please do a follow up video with temps and performance. :D
Thanks for watching! I'm currently working on it. The video is coming!
What do you think about using the darkFlash Shadow Pro PWM CPU LED RGB Motherboard Control Cooler Fan? This is actually shorter in height than the Arctic Freezer Pro 7 CPU Cooler you used in this video and it seems to have good reviews. The only thing I'm not sure about is the RGB functionality with this stock motherboard. Will I be able to control the RGB if I just connect to the 4 pin on the board?
Haven't personally tested that cooler. However, anything is better than the stock cooler. You'd need to get an RGB controller that's powered by SATA in order to take advantage of the RGB.
It works without cutting the middle piece inside?(is where is the hdd and cd player) Sorry for my bad englisch
Most likely not. The height of the cooler would probably collide with the hard drive cage.
Could always bend a sheet of acrylic and make a shroud to cover all the cables in the bottom to make it look way cleaner.
I will be adding a PSU shroud for the Optiplex for the next video! I'm either going to 3D print the shroud or bend some acrylic, like you suggested.
It looks cool.
This isn't OptiFlex's final form! You should see my latest video!
Nice project overall! But doesn't the PSU suck in excess heat from the GPU directly? Is that OK?
Thanks! With the way it is configured right now, it isn't ideal. After reading multiple suggestions, I've decided to change the way it is oriented.
