Protip: Melt 1 TBSP of butter or ghee and toast your hemp hearts before adding the milk, then add the other ingredients. Very tasty (this also works with regular oatmeal if you eat regular oats in your or your family's diet)

I tweaked this recipe and my macros came to 397 calories 8g carbs, 28g protein, 25g fat I used 2 tbsp chia seeds instead of flax, I used 1/2 cup of almond/coconut blend milk, only used 1 tbsp of hemp seeds, i added 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract, 1/2 tsp of cinnamon, 1 tbsp of almond butter, 1 bite size prune (7g), for protein 2 scoops of unflavored collagen peptides, (because I ran out of my whey protein).: and for topping 2 tsp of pecans, 2 tsp of coconut flakes and a few sprinkles of monk fruit sweetener.. It was delicious! I don’t do keto though, I follow low carb.
I just added this recipe in myfitnesspal because I wanted to try it. It came to 1007 calories! 70 g of protein and 78 g of fat....that is definitely a WHOLE meal!

I’m going to try this with the salt also. When eating regular oatmeal I always added salt and butter. Never any sweetener. I don’t like my cereal sweet.
I use shredded Coconuts, throw some Heavy cream in it until it has the texture i want, maybe cacao with a bit erythritol or whey for diffrent taste and you can have so many variations later on and also several servings, unlike with flax where it will lead you into bloat city but i always put it in the fridge because cool it tastes like bounty's
That's BS. From a type 1 who knows exactly how carbs after my blood sugar. Check out Serious Keto channel. He did several tests and showed how it's BS.

I followed the recipe with every other ingredient. It doesn’t taste like oatmeal, but has the same texture and I found it delicious and very satisfying. Two tips: the mixture thickens very quickly over heat, so be prepared to stir constantly. Also, it made way too much fir me to eat in one sitting, so I refrigerated half for another breakfast. I LOVE this new breakfast option...thank you Thomas! ❤️😁
This is amazing. My version has : 2 tablespoon of macademia flour (lightly toasted) 1 tablespoon chia 1/2 teaspoon ceylon cinnamon 2 tablespoon hemp hearts 1 scoop vegan protein powder. add water and whisk and the chia seeds make it thick.I soak it overnight and eat in morning. Still hesitant to add flax powder as I have heard some possible downsides of consuming as a guy (Thomas even said this in some other video and Dr Berg). Regardless, my above recipe is my favourite with about 20g fat (mostly mono unsataurated), 32g protein and under 8g of net carb.
OMG - Thomas! You & your wife are genius! I absolutely appreciate this substitution oatmeal for original oatmeal replacement because I’m a big oatmeal lover with chopped walnuts, pumpkins seeds & cinnamon & (cran-raisins which are not keto).
Was searching for low carb oatmeal and this came up. It was delicious. I added butter (never heard of coconut butter) and brown Splenda while cooking. I also added a heaping tablespoon of almond flour after it was in the bowl to make it less gelatinous. 10 out of 10

I also made a low carb pudding poke cake once, xanthan gum was the only pudding thickener. I couldn't eat it, not with that gelatinous texture.
@@johncoleman6768 I hear you! I haven’t yet made ANY no-oatmeal recipes because, thankfully, I really love bacon and eggs (all different ways!) for breakfast. Any Keto “bread” recipe that uses psyllium husk has that same gelatinous texture. I’d rather do without! I actually like Trader Joe’s “cauliflower slims” as my bread replacement. They come 4 small ones in a pack. I toast them and eat with scallion cream cheese or butter and a keto jelly. ☺️

Came across this again after finding the Isopure(used have a scoop or 14g) used ghee instead of coconut butter. Added blueberries and sprouted pumpkin seeds and sweetened with erythritol/monk fruit. Pretty good. I will toast next time as suggested in the comments. I will also add Himalayan salt to taste. I ate mine as a last meal. MFP says 1,124 calories as prepared. Under calories for the day and macros look really good.
I do a version with chia seeds, coconut flour, protein powder and flax ☺️ absolutely delicious and a great alternative. Love your content btw 😉 best wishes from Ireland

I just tried this out this morning. I substituted whey for a scoop of pea protein, flax milk instead of coconut milk, and clarified ghee butter instead of coconut butter. I added two tablespoons of stevia, teaspoon of cacao, a dash of ground cinnamon, and a small slice of grass fed salted irish butter. I can confirm this is better than oatmeal and an outstanding source of fiber if you're in keto. I give it 5/5 stars.

3/4 cup of Hemp Hearts is a LOT. This recipe eaisly makes enough for 2 hungry people. Those worried about calories, do 1/3 cup of HH. That's still 20g of protien from the HH alone, but is only about 350 calories.
I love this recipe but I like the taste better when I lightly toast the hemp hearts in ghee, stir in the ground flax and then add the but milk/water. I also add chia. It’s great to setup in a Pyrex the night before to have at work too on the rare times I’m not fasting
Look into the history of oatmeal. It used to be fermented prior to consumption, the fermentation process inactivates the "bad" molecules. There is (obviously) several UA-cam videos about this.

Holy moly. Made 1/3rd because I am calorie conscious and wasn’t sure how it would compare to oatmeal. It was so good! And actually keeps you full! Had it with a sliced banana on top. I’m not keto but I’m unable to eat oatmeal. Thank you!
Get whole flax seeds and blend them in a coffee grinder, the flax meal you get has lost some of its properties when seed is pre chopped (prepared in bag sitting on shelf for who knows how long)
I added some collagen to mine. I didn’t have that protein. So I added half or less of women’s best chocolate flavor.(trying to finish it). I also added some cinnamon! Delicious 🤤
Just made it...here is my verdict. 1 of 10 rating Oatmeal consistency -10 Taste - 6 or 7 Ease to make- 10 Make sure you stir everything throughly and sweetened to taste. Not sweetening enough made a big difference to me
2 medium eggs 3oz. cream cheese 1 ½ tablespoon coconut flour Mix all the ingredients together and ready to go!!! Super delicious with the almond/ peanut butter on top with a cup of coffee.

In mine, I mix protein powder, Greek yogurt, heavy cream, and water. I heat it until it gets kind of thick. Remove heat and then add ground flaxseed and almond flour to further thicken it. I eat it with cream cheese. Not bad and satiating.
I just made it adding some cinnamon, salt and vanilla and it tasted good, but then came to the comments and saw how many calories. As a 5'0" female, that is my entire daily allotment for calories and is over on protein and fats as well. As others have suggested here, I plan on halving this recipe. It's either that or only having on days I plan on hiking for the day.

Yep, the hemp seeds are a huge amount of the calories. I made this once and will not make it again…. Waaay too many calories.

i don't know if this sounds odd to anyone, but i add salt to the top (just a bit) to add a bit of savory flavour to it.

I find using canned coconut cream makes the flavor much nicer and the texture thicker. 😋
Eat oatmeal cold and it becomes a resistant starch and has a prebiotic effect doesn't spike insulin or blood sugar. Cold starch = resistant startch

Wow. I used almond butter with a powdered sweetner plus some organic sliced strawberries and I’m hooked. Very delicious
It's always best to grind your chia and flaxseeds. You can then absorb more of the nutrients such as omegas. Plus it makes a far nicer texture

My favorite oatmeal alternative is grated sweet potato cooked in coconut milk or grated parsnip and apple, both with some ground nuts or nut butter

Might want to watch the flax consumption if you're looking to maintain adequate T levels. Although healthy, they are a lot more estrogenic than soy.

Instead of flax seeds add pure oat fiber instead for an more "oaty" taste. Pea protein is an alternative to whey also.

Holy moly. Made 1/3rd because I am calorie conscious and wasn’t sure how it would compare to oatmeal. It was so good! And actually keeps you full! Had it with a sliced banana on top. I’m not keto but I’m unable to eat oatmeal.

Get whole flax seeds and blend them in a coffee grinder, the flax meal you get has lost some of its properties when seed is pre chopped (prepared in bag sitting on shelf for who knows how long)
I added some collagen to mine. I didn’t have that protein. So I added half or less of women’s best chocolate flavor.(trying to finish it). I also added some cinnamon!

I make this in batches- your base recipe with apple pie seasoning, fresh nutmeg, vanilla and a dash of Himalayan salt.
Add sm cinnamon & nutmeg n shaved dark chocolate n u got urself heaven! 🤤

Make sure you stir everything throughly and sweetened to taste. Not sweetening enough made a big difference to me
I really do miss oatmeal in the winter but I don't miss the fat that I've lost. Thanks man I will try this.

3oz. cream cheese
1 ½ tablespoon coconut flour
Mix all the ingredients together and ready to go!!! Super delicious with the almond/ peanut butter on top with a cup of coffee.

Please Thomas, can you talk about sprouted naked oats, blended and left overnight in fridge. Eaten next morning is not high in carbs and really nutritious.

Tried this this morning. Really good!
In mine, I mix protein powder, Greek yogurt, heavy cream, and water. I heat it until it gets kind of thick. Remove heat and then add ground flaxseed and almond flour to further thicken it. I eat it with cream cheese. Not bad and satiating.

I just made it adding some cinnamon, salt and vanilla and it tasted good, but then came to the comments and saw how many calories. As a 5'0" female, that is my entire daily allotment for calories and is over on protein and fats as well. As others have suggested here, I plan on halving this recipe. It's either that or only having on days I plan on hiking for the day.

I've been making this for years. You can do a overnight cold oats adding chia.
3/4 C Hemp? Wow the Calories!
3/4 cup non-dairy milk
3/4 cup hemp hearts
2 tbs ground flax
1 scoop whey protein isolate
1-2 tbs nut butter
Cook on stove and sweeten to taste. I’d add some cinnamon too, why not!
