I use the dry cook method for cauliflower rice, then turn off the heat then stir in a tablespoon or two of hemphearts. They add a nutty flavour and absorb any excess moisture.
Ok one of my favs: coarsely chop 3 to 4 Brazil nuts, and a handful of whole unchopped pecans, melt 3 to 4 tablespoons Lily's salted caramel chips and 1 tblsp coconut oil- mix. Add nuts and enough hemp seeds to make a nobake cookie consistency. Spoon onto cookie sheet and place in fridge til hardened. These are how I use hemp hearts❤ most often. Ps I love you guys!
I’ve made lime cauliflower rice with hemp hearts as an addition. It is very good. The cauliflower rice means I can have a bigger serving but still get the hearts of hemp flavor etc.
I think spinach, dill and feta cheese will make a great Greek flare to this dish. I would then use a vegetable or chicken stock instead of bouillon as feta is salty.
I made the leftovers with a teaspoon or so soy sauce. Game changer!!! It tasted just like fried rice. Next time I'm adding and egg or two and bean sprouts!
1 year today.......lost 120 pounds and one of my favourite dishes is my 3 ingredient rice which is hulled hemp seeds, Palmini palm rice and cauliflower rice mixed 1/3 x 1/3 x 1/3 cup. Prep your cauliflower rice first then mix in the hemp seeds and palm rice then use as you would rice. I made some curried chicken with low carb veggies and added the "rice" mixture and mixed. I tasted a mouthful, said WOW!!!!! and ate dinner from the fry pan.🤣Try it and btw, you two are great. I have forwarded your UA-cam videos to everyone on my site and all giving thumbs up. Thanks.
I'm going to try this and the falafel. I use hemp hearts for oatmeal dupe. 3 tbls hemp hearts. 2 tbls chia seeds, 2 tbls ground flax seeds. 1 tbls splenda brown sugar blend, 1 tbls ceylon cinnamon and a cup of almond milk. I let that sit in the fridge over night and microwave it for breakfast 3 minutes, stir and then 2 minutes.
This recipe was good. To take it to another level I enhanced the dish by: substituting beef bouillon and adding minced garlic , garlic & herb seasoning, original Mrs. Dash and approximately 11/2 cups of water. Simmered until about 1/4 cup of liquid remains. Dish is much moister and DELICIOUS!!
I tried this today and it was delicious. I made it exactly like you did but I had sauteed shrimp with it. Thanks for a great rice replacement recipe!!!
Ladies, oh my goodness! I made this tonight and it’s sooo good!!! I did make one little tweak, I added a little tiny bit of dry onion soup mix and it took it over the top! So good! Where has hemp hearts been the last 1 and a half? Lol! Thank you ladies for trial these. I really appreciate your channel, it’s helped me try more Keto foods I know I wouldn’t have tried. This is definitely my favorite rice… cauliflower rice isn’t my favorite, this one I love!!

You two are the only food channel that doesn't trigger my misophonia over chewing and eating sounds. Listening to you two discussing the food while eating it reminds me of dinner parties my friends and I have where we discuss the food we just put a lot of effort into.
When you posted this video, I tried a modified version of this and it was really good. And it made me think I might be able to use hemp hearts to make a replacement for stuffing for thanksgiving. So yesterday, I did just that. It’s not a perfect replacement and the texture, of course, is not the same but it definitely hit the spot. I used hemp hearts, chicken broth, onions, bell peppers, celery, sage, thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper, chicken breast, and sausage, and butter. I boiled the chicken breast, and cooked a little sausage and put that to the side. Then I sautéed the onions, peppers and chopped celery in the sausage grease until the onions were translucent. Then I added the chicken, sausage, hemp hearts, chicken broth, and seasonings. I let this simmer with a lid on it until the liquid is reduced and the hemp hearts are soft and tender. Then I added the butter and fluffed. It tastes similar to stuffing. And is very low carb!!
@@JenniferClevenger20 that is a FAT BOMB and would send most straight to the toilet. This recipe is amost 30 gram. Add sausage and gravy with whatever else you have for Thanksgiving and oh my gut!
Native Americans here in Michigan harvest wild rice as you described but typically use a wooden stick as they use a boat motor not ores. The rice looks fab & I’d make fried rice adding chicken & egg.
I blend in my magic bullet ricotta cheese, hemp hearts, unsweetened cocoa powder, vanilla a little salt and somes drops of sweetener to make a pudding. So good tastes like chocolate and peanut butter pudding combined. The cocoa, vanilla and sweetner masks the grassiness of the hemp hearts and the blending brings out the oils of the hemp hearts which is what give that slight nutty flavor
I’m so happy to have this recipe, I added a few teaspoons of bacon fat and yes thanks for the recommendation to add frozen drained cauliflower rice at the end of your recipe. We will definitely try this recipe again for Thanksgiving and adding some spice cooked sausage
Another good rice substitute is canned bean sprouts. I cut them with clean scissors to resemble rice, and then use in recipes. Canned bean sprouts are cheap, too.
I am so glad you are experimenting with hemp hearts. I’ve been using them for years. I think maybe that because they are calorie dense is why they aren’t as popular as they should be. They are so filling you don’t eat a lot of it. You two are the Best!
It looks like quinoa, which I love, but which has been off the table because quinoa is too high in carbs. For Thanksgiving, I would add sage to give it a little dressing-like flavor.
Since your Hemp Heart "oatmeal" video, I've been playing with these things in everything from soup to raw cookie dough to fake rice pudding. They have a slightly "grassy" flavor, but light enough that strong flavors will overcome it.
I bought and used hemp hearts last winter to make oatmeal and really liked it. Since then I haven't known what else to do with them so thanks for this and I'll be looking for others on your channel.
Y'all...I tried this tonight and I am in love love love! Thank you so very much! I love bulgur wheat and barley and couscous so this is a great replacement!
My wife and I tried this with a Dijon salmon and broccoli. It was awesome! Thank you thank you thank you! So appreciated to have a good rice replacement.
I grind them up in my coffee grinder and add them to baked goods to boost the protein and overall nutrition. Adds a lovely earthy flavor, too; especially good in seedy keto bread.
I bet this could make some kind of Thanksgiving stuffing substitute. Just add the spices that are in stuffing, or use Bell’s stuffing mix. I bet it would taste great. 👍
This looks so good. The hemp hearts as oatmeal got me thinking of mixing it in with chopped pecans butter swerve brown sugar maybe little almond flour and top that on the chayote "apple" filling. Kind of like "apple" crisp. I miss that. You guys are so fun and inspirational. Thanks!!
Great job on the video editing! Love you two. That looks delicious, almost a risotto approach to cooking the hemp seeds. I’ll definitely give it a shot, and maybe try a cauliflower-hemp mix sometime, with chopped macadamia nuts🤔
You inspired me to use the hemp hearts that have been sitting in my fridge. I added it to ground beef when it was almost brown. Added in some shredded zucchini and bam, dinner ready. So good and filling.
WHOAH. Love hemp hearts in baked goods and “noatmeal”, but never thought to go in the pilaf direction. Brilliant! Cannot wait to face-plant into a plate of this. Oh, and here’s a hot hemp heart tip! If you soak it overnight, you can make velvety fudge. Don’t ask me about the physics, just be prepared for the creamiest mouthfeel ever as you keep stopping to ask, “How Is This Even Possible?!!” (See Leanne Vogel’s recipe for “Peppermint Hemp Fat Fudge” at Healthful Pursuit.) Thank you, once again, bold keto shenanigan twins.
Hemp hearts are amazing! I do watch calories so have to keep that in mind when eating them. There are about 180 calories per 1/4 cup so it racks up quick!
You guys a so funny! Thank you for all the experimenting you do for us. This recipe looks great and I actually have some hemp hearts because I made the "oatmeal" and it was fantastic! Very comforting food 🥰
Used to make a pilaf recipe that used rice and browned vermacelli. Also added allspice for a mediterranean vibe. I tend to vary the recipes with my own experiences in cooking. Would probably also mix cauliflower and hemp hearts together. More bulk, less calories. Thanks for the recipe link!
OMG, I made this for dinner tonight and it was so good! It would definitely be a good stuffing substitute at Thanksgiving. And now my apartment smells like popcorn. Yum!
This got my attention. I can’t believe how many calories are in 3 Tablespoons . For 170 calories I would definitely need to fit it into my daily allowance for calories. I would really like to see you use it in a soup because with Fall here I enjoy a delicious keto soup.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
When you are doing keto you don't really count calories, you count carbs only. If you are just trying to eat healthier then yes, the calories should be factored in, but not on keto.
I used hemp hearts along with chia seeds as a replacement for pinhead oats to make a Cincinnati breakfast meat called Goetta. It's similar to scrapple, if you've ever had that.
Good Sunday morning, from Scotland. Would you be so kind to supply us with your Goetta recipe, please? I'm from NYS originally and lived in PA and loved scrapple. You've just stirred up some yummy memories, scrapple with maple syrup 😋. Thank you!!

I had a tough time with Cauliflower causing me to bloat, I found out that our bodies lack the enzyme (Alpha-galactosidase) that breaks down Raffinose. I recommend anyone who has an issue with Cauliflower try supplementing with a chewable anti-gas tablet that has Alpha-galactosidase in it.
I find my hemp hearts at Costco. To me, hemp hearts taste a bit like walnuts. I think slivered almonds would work well in this recipe. Thanks for trying it for us.
Hemp hearts add some great protein, and I also add them to Keto smoothies, low carb yogurt and I grind them to add texture to Cook With Mel's CK Cornbread recipe.
Hi ladies...👋 I made this recipe yesterday. It came out delicious. I will be adding this to the fall menu. Ill try it as oatmeal replacement next. Thank you both!
I found your channel and try your stuff often. I’ve added diced carrots, onions, pine nut, and pumpkin seeds too. Right before we serve it, we put in chopped up craisens. Eat it several times a month now. Love it. Hemp hearts are awesome.
Thanks ladies for another great recipe. I'm new to your site and finding lots of good tips and recipes. I am low carb due to pre-diabetes, but I'm adapting more and more keto into my routine.
Thank you so much for pointing us to this recipe. In an effort to cut the calories, I think I would change up the ingredients to 1/3 cup hemp seeds, 1/3 cup riced cauliflower, and 1/3 cup Palmini (hearts of palm) "rice" (instead of a full cup of hemp hearts) I'll have to try it that way for sure. I've recently discovered the Palmini Rice and used it combeined with riced cauliflower to create a rice pudding recipe that was so amazing - it tasted just like the real thing!
Cous cous seems to look more alike than rice as a substitute ,And for someone with wheat allergy it would be good, also less carbs with hemp. I’m not keto, but try to lessen my carbs.
Yum! Enjoy almonds in a rice dish! I really love hemp hearts. Diced chicken added to this mock rice would make a tasty lunch. Definitely keeping this recipe, thanks!
Ill give it a try. For people that are used to cauli rice. They could add some in to cut down the calories if necessary, just a suggestion. I like the spices in the rice, it should be good.
I'll have to try the hemp hearts that sounds really Good ... I shop at Aldi and have been buying Palmini Rice there ... its from palm like the linguine they have. Thanks Again Ladies.
I have found dehydrating riced cauliflower(not blanched first), makes a great substitute for rice. Also dehydrating broccoli shreds(not blanched), a great substitute for noodles.
I made this dish with walnuts chopped (that's what I had) It was so good and !this recipe made enough for 3 meals (as a side) I have been eating it every day! Thank you so much! I love your channel!
I saw your video few weeks ago. It’s made me curious about hemp. Voila, I got it in my health shop. Today I made this recipe. It’s fantastic. As you were talking about it I expected a bit of weird taste but nothing is weird! It’s very tasty. I used almond flakes plus put some crunchy onion on top when I served. Thank you for the video. Now I’m going for other hemp recipes.
Hemp Hearts is a great, if often overlooked ingredient. I like to use it, for example, as part of a baking flour mix in my keto oven pancake. A tablespoon or two adds good nutrition and texture while complimenting the flavor. This Pilaf if definitely on my list now.
Have you tried the dried konjac rice? It's taste and texture is so much different from the wet konjac rice packets. They smell like rice, they mimic the texture of rice, and they taste like white rice! The wet variety smells a bit fishy even when washed and rubbery but not the dry ones don't.
What a great idea, once again, thanks. I add my hemp hearts to greek yogurt and sprinkle on my salads for more protein. Tonight it's air fryed chicken thighs & hemp heart pilaf❤❤❤
Chris Cooking Nashville makes rice from egg whites! It's amazing and if ur a fan of Chris' mashed potatoes, and you seemed to be in your video, then you will love his rice version as well. Please give it a try 😊
I was down to my last 3/4 cup hemp hearts. Then Takes Keto Twins had another great recipe. I liked the end result. Next time I'll add more seasoning. I did use a shake or 6 shakes of tajin. That was good. Hemp hearts are not just for salad anymore. Thank you both. You work so hard for this wonderful community. I appreciate everything you ladies do for us!
I use hemp hearts for chaffles instead of using almond flour, 2 eggs 3 heaping tablespoons of hemp hearts alittle grated cheese, then add abit of grated cheese to bottom of chaffle maching & sprinkling on top, can use a punch of axntham gum
I just tried this, and it is flavorful, but I think it would even be better. If you mixed it with your dry pan, cauliflower rice it would give it a more realistic fried rice taste. Thank you I appreciate you gals!
have watched this a few times ..... we bought this a few weeks back finally made it today OMG THIS HIS DELICIOUS... will forever be booted cauliflower .... we did add bacon grease with butter and more butter to it ... but other than that we kept it totally the same just more fats .... thanks for this one ladies ... we def were looking for a rice substitute...
thanks for this. I actually have some hemp hearts already, can't wait to try it. Regarding the mushrooms, you can wash them if you're going to cook them. Just dry clean them if you're eating them raw, like in a salad.
I use carrington farms ground lupin only 1 net carb or kaizen rice which is more like an orzo texture but only 6 net carbs, they now have pastas that are two net carbs that I love
Well I guess you could run it through a grinder to smooth it out a bit. Also if you want to bulk it out a bit, mixing in some wet ground cauliflower would turn it into more of a paste. I would add a few spices like temeric, with a small amount of garlic and ginger.
The more I watch you gals the more I'm turning from carnivore to keto/ketovore. Hubby hates the lack of variety in carnivore but I like the simplicity of it because I'm so afraid to overeat anything considered 'low carb'...but ladies, I'll be giving this a try and I'm sure hubby will thank you for it.
I saw your video last night and made the recipe for supper this evening. I had to substitute margarine for butter due to a dairy allergy in the family but was delicious! Everyone loved it. Thank you for sharing such a great recipe. It will definitely become a staple on the family menu.

I use them in my smoothies but I have never thought of doing it like a rice
It never occurred to me to use hh's in my fake cornbread! Great idea!
This was pretty good, I’d call it more of a quinoa replacement over a rice replacement either way it was very tasty! Thanks for the video!
Hi ladies...👋 I made this recipe yesterday. It came out delicious. I will be adding this to the fall menu. Ill try it as oatmeal replacement next. Thank you both!
Thank you for sharing alternatives to cauliflower. I am sadly very allergic to cauliflower, and they are used in so many keto recipes!
Thank you, Sarah and Emily! I saw this video two days ago and made the recipe yesterday. SO GOOD!!!
Your mom is seriously adorable. The apples do not fall far from that tree!
Aw thank you!!
Ill give it a try. For people that are used to cauli rice. They could add some in to cut down the calories if necessary, just a suggestion. I like the spices in the rice, it should be good.
Looks yummy. Good idea you shared of adding in cauliflower rice!
I'll have to try the hemp hearts that sounds really Good ... I shop at Aldi and have been buying Palmini Rice there ... its from palm like the linguine they have. Thanks Again Ladies.
Just today I tried your hint about frying off cauliflower rice to dry it out, and it is a total game changer. And low calories!
I like a pilaf method, a mix of the keto rice alternatives. It gives varied flavors, textures and nutrition.
Thanks for the ideas! I'll be adding garlic and green onions. Yum
I love hemp hearts! I eat them straight from the bag, add them to salad, and yes, a noatmeal recipe i have. Yummy!
Hemp Hearts is a great, if often overlooked ingredient. I like to use it, for example, as part of a baking flour mix in my keto oven pancake. A tablespoon or two adds good nutrition and texture while complimenting the flavor. This Pilaf if definitely on my list now.
I love hemp hearts! Would be great to replace the rice in cabbage rolls. ❤
Have you tried the dried konjac rice? It's taste and texture is so much different from the wet konjac rice packets. They smell like rice, they mimic the texture of rice, and they taste like white rice! The wet variety smells a bit fishy even when washed and rubbery but not the dry ones don't.
We have not! Thanks for the suggestion!
I put shelled hemp hearts into my chia seed cereal. Really good
I can't wait to try this!!!
Yay! Thank you for finding a new rice replacement ❤ I’m Filipino and I need my rice! I used farro, oatmeal and quinoa most of the time
What a great idea, once again, thanks. I add my hemp hearts to greek yogurt and sprinkle on my salads for more protein. Tonight it's air fryed chicken thighs & hemp heart pilaf❤❤❤
I rarely comment on videos but THIS is amazing! Used with roasted chicken and broccoli and it was so good!
Chris Cooking Nashville makes rice from egg whites! It's amazing and if ur a fan of Chris' mashed potatoes, and you seemed to be in your video, then you will love his rice version as well. Please give it a try 😊
We will have to try that!
Just scrambled eggs stirred a lot and chopped small is a pretty good replacement for rice too. This seems cool.
I use hemp hearts for chaffles instead of using almond flour, 2 eggs 3 heaping tablespoons of hemp hearts alittle grated cheese, then add abit of grated cheese to bottom of chaffle maching & sprinkling on top, can use a punch of axntham gum
Great idea! We will try it ❤️
I just tried this, and it is flavorful, but I think it would even be better. If you mixed it with your dry pan, cauliflower rice it would give it a more realistic fried rice taste. Thank you I appreciate you gals!
Hemp hearts make delicious tabbouleh, too! It brings out a lovely pine-nut flavor in the hemp hearts.
Also I like to add some slivered or sliced almonds, because the textural contrast gives the hemp hearts a more rice-like texture.
the best rice replacement is hearts of palm rice....i love hemp..but i prefer it as a yogurt topper or in my homemade protien bars
Thank you for the Thrive Market deal. Just joined an see a lot of things to order later.
have watched this a few times ..... we bought this a few weeks back finally made it today OMG THIS HIS DELICIOUS... will forever be booted cauliflower .... we did add bacon grease with butter and more butter to it ... but other than that we kept it totally the same just more fats .... thanks for this one ladies ... we def were looking for a rice substitute...
Girls! So cool to see mama bear 🐻 of the Keto twins 👯♀️
thanks for this.
Thanks! I tried this and it was great. I added baby bella mushrooms and onions. YUM
I have never seen you two love a recipe so much. I have all of the ingredients-I am making this tomorrow!!!!
Well I guess you could run it through a grinder to smooth it out a bit. Also if you want to bulk it out a bit, mixing in some wet ground cauliflower would turn it into more of a paste. I would add a few spices like temeric, with a small amount of garlic and ginger.
I try and use bone broth for the extra protein kick!
Great idea!
This was really good! I added a bit of sliced onions to the mushrooms when I sautéed the mushrooms. I will make this again.
I just gave up on rice. I have swede mash. Absolutely gorgeous. Boil the swede chunks. 45 minutes. Then mash with a knob of butter and salt. ❤
This looks amazing, I personally would leave out the mushrooms since I’m allergic
I'm in the same place. Good to see your comment. Good luck and blessings.
I saw your video last night and made the recipe for supper this evening. I had to substitute margarine for butter due to a dairy allergy in the family but was delicious! Everyone loved it. Thank you for sharing such a great recipe. It will definitely become a staple on the family menu.
So glad you liked it!
