Chance was dressed like a modern day seaman, Rob was a Cape Cod fisherman, Adam was channeling "The Little Mermaid". Austin was Sinbad and of course Tim was Jack Sparrow !! I thought Adam did an unbelievable job, did you hear the cassinets?? And did you notice Tim was standing in a boat? From what I read it was in his brother-in-laws back yard, LOL.
That's interesting, we're did you hear this? No Merchant Marine or Seaman dresses like Chance did. That "Z" on his shirt is the designation that the Russian military uses.
Tim was in someone's backyard in Texas standing in a rowboat because ....Covid? His booming bass underneath it all is just ..holy shit! All the guys are harmonizing as they always do -- perfectly. Austin and his eyeliner killed the entire drunken sailor Johnny Deppery thang. Adam --- Good Lord --- When he released his inner flamenco dancer I lost it. They are hilarious.
That’s actually Chance’s boat. He doesn’t have room for it in LA, so he... stores it at Tim’s brother-in-law’s house, naturally? So Tim is at his brother-in-law’s house, standing in Chance’s boat for this video.
I saw a video one time - can't remember if it was an interview or live show or what. Someone asked Adam Rupp how long it took him to learn to beatbox. Adam's reply was, "I'm still learning." And it's true -he's always adding new "sound effects". He's just amazing.
adam absolutely killed this. all i could think was "castanets adam, really?" amazing. i hope they put it their show as well, just got my tickets for october
I think Home Free did a amazing job on these sea shantys. I like the castenets that Adam did. Home Free did 'catch me if you can' which is an original on the dive bar saints album. They also collaborated with Peter Hollens for 'I still don't know what I'm looking for' which u2 did and it's so good.
They actually filmed themselves for this video during COVID lockdowns and had their video editor put it all together. That was one reason for the portrait mode - it made everything consistent for editing purposes. They put out about two videos a month during lockdown so their fans would have new content.
Austin’s musical theater training really came out in this one, including his eyeliner! Tim was the captain of this crazy crew!! Great video, great reaction!
Thanks for your time and comments for HF. Did you notice Tim was standing in a boat. Oh my goodness, to funny.........love their attention to detail. Adam beatboxing is fantastic....world class, Tim bass.....enough said, Rob is under appreciated.......awesome vocals, Austin's theater background is icing on the cake and Thank You Chance for heading this project. Well done Maties!
Chance has the perfect voice and range for a sea shanty. Someone needs to ask Tim how the Marianas Trench looks. He was about that deep for entire number.
Home Free has really kept their noses to the grindstone during this pandemic. It really shows their work ethic and commitment to their craft and their fans. Also, if these videos are so good being shot from their homes, can you imagine the chemistry that will explode when they finally get on stage together? Tim... oh Tim... definitely rumbling from somewhere deep below the sea bed. And Adam, let's just expand upon his moniker of Freak of Nature and add some castanets to his repertoire! I think my favorite might have been the 4th shanty Cape Cod Girls because we got to hear Rob in a bit lower register for once. Actually they all stayed fairly low for that one. The medley as a whole was amazing. Great reaction. I appreciate the way you break things down differently as a musician. Thank you!
Great review! A few comments (in no particular order): - Take a listen to "Man of Constant Sorrow" for some great Tim's bass + Adam's beatboxing. Then give us your review. 😊 - During "Santiana", when Chance says "and an old salty yank for a capt'n too", he makes the face of that captain! 😄 - The beatboxing during "Santiana" is so crazy good, it should be an olympic competition.
Glad you brought forth the masdive effort THE HOME FREE. group has put forth during this pandemic. Can't imagine all the extra efforts to keep ther fans entertained during these trying times. The exta cost has to be phenominal and the strain of working away from each other as well.Yet for all these months their smiles and comraderie carried on. Oh he's gonna love Adam's work in this....the castenets sound is so cool in Santiana !! I've actually thought about this being a showstopper or even an encore song ? possible ? Alec I'm not a performer so I can only guess on this kind of stuff (I don't know in the business what would really constitute one of those) but it sure would be a great way to end the 1st half or end the show kinda song...audience would be left in a great upbeat mood !!!

Chance is a New Era Pirate! All the Boys dressed up in certain Stages of Pirate Dress! Adam's Castenets sound is first class just as we expect from him, even though we are always amazed and surprised! Love your Reactions!😜👍😎 Keep up with Home Free Videos!😁😊
Thank you for reacting to this. It's a bloody earworm is what it is. Adam, Tim and Austin all went for a pirate look, with Rob doing a sort of sailor look. Adam Chance went maritime his tattoo, his cap and his Z (zodiac?) and whale t-shirts. Adam with those castanets man! On a side note... I was mighty impressed with how Austin sheathed his sword. Very convincing. Love it.
if you want to see them fully embrace their character and have a blast they just put out Never gonna give you up and it might be my favorite performance they have ever done
Loved your reaction.. this is the very first time I have heard beatboxing castanets?! Adam Rupp is amazing..as are all of them. Have you seen Elvira? with the Oak Ridge Boys? Adams beatboxing really shines there although it was ages ago .. still so much fun. and I loved the Oaks. Thanks for doing these!
I've watched this one many times cause its just so entertaining. And Chance actually loves Sea Shanties, and wasn't as dressed up as some of the others, but maybe more like a more modern fisherman with his beanie and the whale on shirt. Anyway, I think the only other video the guys did in portrait version rather than landscape was Meet in the Middle, and you'll have to watch it to see why!
I'm assuming you've seen Adam Rupp's drum solo. Have you reacted to that? Or did I miss it? This one was fun. The beat captures you and you have fall into it. Drunken Sailor is an old friend. Me and my sister (she was an unofficial roadie for one of the singers) used to hang out with a Celtic band o so many decades ago and they would always do that song. Just hearing that song (especially done by these doofuses I love so much) always makes me smile. Edit: Yep! I did miss it. Going to watch that now once I've started paying more attention. Thanks so much for your reactions.
Yes! Home Free has been on TikTok for quite awhile. I will admit I was not as excited about hearing the sea shanties at first, but I thought about how they have covered many genres and put their own spin on every one of the them. How could it possibly not be entertaining? I’ve been of fan of theirs for many years and I’m also one of their Patrons so I had a preview and watched this. I loved it! Had a smile on my face the whole time! I really enjoyed your reaction! I’ve tried a little beatboxing (and failed miserably. 😂). It definitely made me appreciate Adam way more! Of course, he’s been beatboxing for almost 21 years so he has loads of experience! That bass, though! It was phenomenal! The lead vocals by Chance, Austin, and Rob were excellent! They will be releasing a brand new video this Thursday! I can’t reveal anything, but I can tell you it’s epic!!
The one that went viral on tick took ,was a postman from the U.K. ! It took it by storm and went to number one ,he has a record contract and is everywhere!
I really enjoy your reactions, since, as a musician, you appreciate the music on a different level. 💕 Chance's attire is very reminiscent of a merchant seaman, which is more apropos of sea shanties than pirates, BUT I can't fault Adam, Tim & Austin for having fun with that. Rob was the one whose outfit was a little 'off' to me, even though his moustache was on point. 🤣🤣🤣 Our other favorite bass, Geoff, is dropping a new video the end of the week, keep an eye out. 😉
Everyone is a Pirate for a Day!! I wonder if Adams trumpet skills were used in.doing castanet sound? Great Video!! HF shows their acting skills in many videos. Hill Billy Bone; “Everything Will Be OK”; “I Like The Sound of That”; “Thinking Out Loud/ Let’s Get It On mashup”; “Blue Ain’t Your Color”! Nice Reaction!!
Wasn’t this wonderful? Tim was the most deadly serious jolly sailor ever seen, would scare off the whales for sure! Impossible not to smile, they did a terrific job. Adam’s castanets and wave splashes in the last song (my favorite) were over the top in the best way. He keeps getting better. Good to hear Chance’s clear true baritone, so glad he talked the other guys into this.

But, since we’re all fans, have been holding out hope for the rescheduled tour dates rather than getting a refund.
