It has been suggested that I should address a particularly common theme and misunderstanding that I'm seeing in many comments here in just one rather than continue to repeat myself in all these replies. First a couple of misconceptions that I need to address: FIRST: I, in no way, believe or ever said that Angelina Jordan isn't an amazing singer/vocalist. Of course she is. I said as much in the review and, as I have said many times in replies, if I had heard this song on the radio the only comments I would have had would be ones of praise. SECOND: I do stand by my remarks but, while I offered a couple of different possible reasons for the lack of connectedness I observed in her body, I never claimed that any of them are correct. I have viewed a part of my responsibility with a channel like this as to apply what knowledge and experience I have to what I see. To offer insight and potential explanations for those things. I am not in the room with these performers and am not a mind reader so I can only make an educated guess (that being said I think I was likely very close with my last theory - around 15:25. All that I have learned since watching seems to support this). And Finally.......Acting. I'm going to say this as concisely as I can because, if I let myself, I could write a short book on this topic in just one sitting. To be perfectly clear (please read these all-caps as emphasis and not in any way as aggression): ACTING and PRETENDING are NOT the same thing. Every comment I made was about a lack of authenticity in her movements and gestures. Somehow this got twisted into a lot of people telling me "Angelina doesn't need to be fake or play make-believe or pretend..." What? I'm so confused by this. The simplest way that I can put it is to quote an authority on the acting art form (in fact, I'm going to title the comment with this quote): Acting is Living Truthfully under imaginary circumstances. I want you all to focus on the phrase "Living truthfully." As I talked about at the end of the video, sometimes I circumstance around or in which a person is performing is too real, as I have learned was the case in this situation. She was dealing with a real loss and, sometimes, when we are dealing with material that is too real, too personal, it almost forces us to disconnect or at least stand at a distance. This is what I suspect was happening here. In conclusion: I love you all (even those hurling insults and inflammatory phrases). I hope this comment is read with open minds and hearts and that it helps those of you out there who are upset realize that I was not, in any way, demeaning Angelina's abilities as a singer. I was only doing what I know how to do: be myself and react honestly. Thank you for reading this. I sincerely hope to see you all back in my comment section in the future!
She recently signed with Republic Records. This is one of her first releases and I think what you saw and heard was due to perhaps more direction than what she was accustomed. The bulk of her work was very informal, performed in a home studio usually with a single guitarist as accompaniment. This now for the big bucks and the guys with the bucks insist on perfection. You maybe hit .432 in the minors but it's different in the bigs.
Super reaction and analysis, thanks so much for sharing! 💖 First of all I feel I need to apologize on behalf of my fellow Angelina fans, I havent read any comments below but im sure there are some nasty ones, wich you certainly dont deserve 🌹Many of her fans have followed her since she was a child and are overprotective towards her. She is this innocent and pure soul for many of her fans. She gave her shoes to a poor girl she met while traveling at age 6?, and later published a book about the experience. Since then she always performs barefoot, as a reminder that there are still children in this world who cant even afford shoes. She has also performed at a lot of charities, helping raise money for the less fortunate. She spent her winnings from Norway got Talent, about 60k dollars I believe, on charities. So yea, many feel the need to protect this amazing young girl 😊About the performing bit here, as other may have said, she is not a performer she is a singer. She is only 14, and from a very different culture than yours, wich I guess is american. She is a perfectionist, and this was her very first filming with her (huge) new record label. And knowing her and how emphatic she is, she probably did distance herself from the emotions to be able to sing the song, like you said. If you are still reading, I just want to repeat that I really liked your analysis of her singing, you have very good ears and could easily be confused as a vocal coach 👌But even with your funny and respectful way of giving critique, the internet just cant handle it 😆People mostly watch videos like this to hear praise I think, and at most, some hints and tips for improving. Take care and see you in the next one!
You could not possibly be any more wrong she is about as real as it comes and she lives for music you really need to watch a lot more videos before you make snap judgments!!!!!!
I'm sure you know what you are talking about when it comes to acting, but not when it comes to Angelina Jordan. You are assuming, for instance that she is ""17 to 20" in this video. She is 14 here; will be 16 in Jan 2022. This song is in fact very personal--it's specifically about the death of her grandfather. Finally, though you might see something I don't in this particular recording, if you knew her singing better, you would know that her ability to convey the emotional meaning of just about any song is one of the most remarkable and distinctive characteristics of her singing, and has been ever since she was about 6 years old. Perhaps you are correct in saying that it is more challenging to do so when the song is deeply personal, but you have no idea of her talents and training when you suggest that she may not have learned the proper techniques for conveying deeply felt emotion.
I've taken a look at your justification for your critique, where you explain, as you did not actually make clear in your reaction, that you are saying you didn't believe her because you are focusing on her acting and her body. It is true that Angelina is so skilled and innately talented at conveying emotion with her voice that she has not focussed heavily on conveying it with her body and face. PS, if you want to hear (rather than see) how she conveys emotion directly to the listener's heart, try her cover of Wicked Game ua-cam.com/video/5IAMF4FDfw4/v-deo.html
I respect your opinions, but for a more accurate opinion, you should also check the backstory this song has. She wrote it in memory of her grandparents, maternal and paternal, to whom she was very attached and she herself confessed upon release that writing and singing this song was a real catharsis for her, a way to channel the pain of loss, which for a 14-year-old girl, the age at which she wrote it, is already a metabolization of the first great pains and losses of her life. You advise you to continue the journey with Angelina, she is so multifaceted in her interpretations, that she would really be worth it. 💛 🧡 ❤️
@@ClaudioMarcucci7756 No, she sang for her Swedish grandfather's passing before, where she broke down at the end. This, I think, was for her Japanese grandfather, more emotional I think.
@@rickhilde8281 she said ‘this song come straight from my heart to yours” and said that it was for all those who have lost a loved one..it’s for everyone.
14 years old here my friend, please do not age her. Best singer on the planet in many decades. You shall find out if you go back to her Norway Got Talent performances at 7-8 years old and go forward from there. Thanks for reacting. BTW, Angelina's Angels are millions and millions strong so not a bad idea to follow her to grow your channel, and she has been gifted since childhood, a prodigy, a music genius, and really never "pushes" herself since she has no need to. Always sing within herself. Best of luck.
Hi! I welcome you as the 1,148th UA-cam channel owner who has chosen to react to Angelina, and this is the 11,927th reaction I have watched. I appreciate your honesty, ant thrilled that you recognise her musicality and the dexterity with which she can use notes. Having read your replies to the 224 comments about your reaction and learned that your speciality is performance, I explored your channel and see I follow two of the most visually expressive vocalist whose performances you have featured - Lara Fabian and Aurora. So it is no surprise to me that you came to the conclusion that Angelina's performance appeared contrived to you. Bearing all of this in mind, I still find it difficult to understand how you could see no emotion in her performance. For me her face is full of grief and the way in which she uses her hands - reaching to the sky, placing them on her heart - accentuates the pain she is experiencing. There is the way she lifts her head to the sky as if seeking for an answer. I do hope that you will continue to react to further performances by Angelina. If you do so, I will be there every step of the way. Just do not expect her to act - in your explanation of what is meant by that word - as other vocalists do. If that is your sole criteria, you are going to be disappointed.
You are entitled to your opinion but I disagree with you. Angelina wrote this song in memory of her grandfather who just passed away. I felt the song and her emotions. As for her technique, I heard several well established and respected vocal coaches sayings that she could be a vocal coach herself and were pointing some of her techniques to their students. For all of us who lost loved ones, we more than connected with this song. This song started the healing process for most of us. Thank you
I feel like so many have this take and it’s a misunderstanding. I have told several people now that if I had heard this on the radio I would be raving about how emotional and connected she was lyrically. That is true of this performance and I think I said as much. I also talked about how so many of you have the advantage of the personal connection that comes from knowing about this artist personally, knowing about her connection to her grandfather, and I simply do not have that. This, of course, can creat a disparity in emotional connection during the song. But performing in front of a camera or audience and singing a song with emotional depth are two different things. All of my comments were from the perspective of a performance or acting coach who’s job it would be to help her embody (key word “body”) the emotion in addition to expressing it vocally. It is a secondary skill for a singer but it is a necessary skill as well. To be clear, I was under the impression that she was closer to 20 which definitely colored my commentary. But I stand by what I said. She is so young. I have no doubt that by the time she is 20 she will have picked up many tools in this area as well and be an even more effective and well rounded performer. Thank you so much for your comment. I appreciate your perspective.
@@tnae As an acting coach you may be looking for things that we listeners don't care about. Her ability to convey emotion in every note is unequaled. That is enough for me, I don't care whether she may look weary or could improve her body language (not that she does). One of the attributes we love best about Angelina is her integrity, a very genuine person - walking the talk so to speak. No acting, no facade. Many of us will rue the day producers polish her authenticity away.
I’m reading a lot of comments like this and I think there’s some kind of breakdown of communication. My critique was 100% focused on the lack of authenticity in her body, her movements, her mannerisms and her facial expressions. Pleases understand that this is not an insult. She is remarkable (especially since I learned that she was only 14f). But something that I have talked about before on my channel is the misconception that to act means to pretend or to make believe. To act (in the sense of the performance art) means simply to take action. You don’t “act” like your mad or happy or whatever. You experience the emotion genuinely and authentically, allowing that emotion to be personified, to live in your body, and then you take action wit that emotion as your motivation. Angelina is very young here. I have no doubt she will develop the tools to more effectively communicate physically, just as she communicates so effectively emotionally. Thanks for the comment again. I hope to see you again.
@@tnae You won't like her covers of Billie Jean and Yesterday where she barely moves at all. You may like her cover of Lovin' You ua-cam.com/video/Y4WPbmjgUg4/v-deo.html which she really gets into the song (age 11). And she's a singer not a performer. I liked your reaction and thoughtful review. Thumbs up and subscribed.
@@tnae I think your are right with the comments of her acting. She is very young and of course careful with her body language. That's why many older fans want to protect her as a young growing person. Look her newest official video of 7th Heaven. There she shows a lot of acting. That's the way she has to go for her coming own life shows. But we all love her true authenticity and her positive messages for life
Actually she wrote this after her grandpa passed and I think she was more focused on sharing her feelings than being jazzy, plus the fact that it was probably very emotional for her. She was 13 for AGT, 14 here and is 15 now. If your a performance coach you need to see her in BEAST mode. I Put a Spell on You, black and white version, at 9 years old. That will knock your socks off.
Absolutely. I actually just learned that she was only 14. I hope you heard the last half of my critique as I really feel that I got much closer to the truth of what was happening there. It starts at 15:25. I’d love to know your thoughts if you haven’t listened to that part already. Thanks for commenting and being a part of my Angelina Jordan journey!
@@tnae I heard and understood. We comment on your reaction but it will always be constructive criticism and we learn from you just as you learn from us. I get annoyed with some reactors who feel their job is to just find flaws instead of enjoying the entire performance for what it is. You at least take it all into consideration. Great reaction. Thanks
I agree she is not very expressive in this performance and seems to be singing to herself rather than to an audience. The fact that she sings most of the song with her eyes closed adds to this impression. There are a number of more recent videos where she does this and I would think it was nerves or just a bad habit except that it is evident that she has been singing from a young age making eye contact with the audience and camera and it is known that she doesn't have problems with nerves. Also, in spite of the fact that this is a deeply personal song for her, I feel less emotion than in many of her other songs. Not that the emotion isn't there, just that she is capable of more. In fact, I feel this way about many of her original songs with perhaps the exception of "Shield," which in my mind is the best of her originals to this date.
She was still 14 when she recorded this; she is 15 now. She is called her the "girl with a thousand voices" for a very good reason; she seems to always bring something unique to everything she sings. You really should explore many more of her performances (150+ of them) before trying to characterize her voice. Check out "I'm Still Holding out for You" to hear the best example of her "vocal fry", realize she was not yet 12. Follow that with "A Song for A" for a very clean tone; also when she was 12. I'm Still Holding out for You - ua-cam.com/video/Dv8mjCh5iiE/v-deo.html A Song for A - ua-cam.com/video/4_vBAP2_2A0/v-deo.html
15 years old and just turned 15. It's not that big of a deal when you hear her at 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 you get the picture. It is a big deal, it's just hearing her performance at 9 doing her rendition of "I put a spell on you" is just insane! The thing I keep saying is she is creating a harmonic fry and your the first to mention it!!!! Good job and it will be huge because she does it live!
This was a really good reaction. As a fan of Angelina for 5+ years, I sometimes take for granted how close she seems to us long-time followers. We know so much about her (not just her talent) that it's hard to give sincere and honest people such as you credit for seeing things that would not occur to us. Very few people at the beginning of the AJ journey are going to see her the way we do. Even though we know she is unbelievable we have come to accept her truth and tend to have little patience for the difficulty others, new to her, to have that same level of acceptance. Please believe we are grateful for your attention to her and willingness to continue your journey with her. Subscribed.
Respect your reaction sir..... i can connect with her song .....straight to my heart.....just her voice is enough for me to connect with her song. No singer can connect such emotions to me the way she does.. anyway thank you also sir.... hoping someday when she becomes mature enough you will see whatever you want to see from her performance...✌
Welcome to Angelina’s world. I think you have to hear more Angelina’s songs. She’s the girl of the 1000 voices. A music genius. Started singing with 18 months. Try her white and black version of “I put a spell on you “ when she was 9 years old. Her voice is unique.
There may come some time in Angelina's future where the physical nature of her singing performances might become more important. But if her library of work since she was 7 years old has any weight, she has done a wonderful job of convincing millions of people to believe in her and feel the emotion of her songs without acting in some sort of fake way. She has always been quite transparent and if you didn't 'see' the emotion you wanted here, it was probably for a noble reason. If I were to become blind tomorrow, I might miss seeing Angelina's lovely face and her Mona Lisa smile, but she will still make me feel the emotion her voice can convey. I truly appreciate your honest reaction. I hope you will take the time to dig deeper into the vocal artist that is Angelina (my hope that she will someday just be referred to as Angelina).
Thank you for commenting. It sounds like you might be one of many who missed the end of my video. It's amazing how many people are commenting things that seem to suggest that I was advocating for her to be fake and pretend to fell this way or that. The only way I can explain this is either I am a horrible communicator or these people were offended by my position and just didn't hear everything I said. I never EVER advocate for faking anything. that's not acting (pardon the pun). to act doesn't mean to pretend. To "act" like you're happy or to "act" like you're sad. It means the exact opposite in fact. It mean simply to take action. real emotion, real intention, and then authentic action just happens the way it does in our every day life. I really appreciate your comment and that you were able and willing to express your honest opinions all while maintaining a civil tone, being respectful and kind. Thank you for watching and I hope you get to join me again as I continue with Angelina's music.
@@tnae Nope ... watched your entire video beginning to end. I think you are doing a VERY good job here on this channel (I've subscribed). I just wish that you would do just a bit more research ahead of your reaction as to build better perspective for your comments. Brenden, Angelina Jordan was 14 yrs old went she wrote and recorded "Million Miles", dedicated to her beloved it Grandfather who pass away. However, I have been following Angelina's career for around three years, when I first saw her on "Norway has Talent "show. This little 7 year old girl walk onto the stage and into my heart along with the Show Judges and millions of UA-cam viewers around the world! She ran away with the show singing: "Gloomy Sunday", "I'm fool to want you", Bang Bang", and winning the contest with her vision of "Summer Time"! Welcome to the Angelina "Rabbit Hole", you are now an official Angelina "Angel" .
This song really touches me, and many others, partly because the cry is in this song. It is a healing song---hers and anyone else who it captures with that healing quality. Yes, you've got that right with the aesthetic. She's known for that "autotune" quality/clarity. Yes, that cry. Reaching for her grandfather, the moon, the end of the million miles. She's 14 here. The cry is in there---she has done this like an excellent poem, where less is more. It is sophisticated, like her grounding in old school jazz. It is not coarse like grunge rock. She has not boxed the hearer's ears with the loss, but invited us to feel with her and be carried both with the cry of sorrow/longing and the light of compassion right beside it. She has invited us to acknowledge the human condition and still be lifted by beauty. Thank you for your time. 💜
By the way, Angelina live is even better, and she does this as a passion, not a job. The more you see, the better you will understand. Keep watching, and you will change in your thoughts. . This song is about her grandfather who died in 2018. You will see the truth as you see her do other songs. Best to your channel, and this only gets better.
This is a "live in studio" performance. He's not going to change his thoughts - read his reply to 'H S' and try to actually understand what he's saying.
Let's get real. This is a lame smear job guised as an honest attempt to explain opine vs facts. If you hear it and you feel it then the proof of the message is in the sadness it brings to the target. Your critique seems contrived by the need to sell yourself as an expert vocal analyst. I don't as you put it, "hate you." I mistrust your motive. You have discounted, through all the technical jargon, the melancholy her style of moving lyrics from paper to the heart as masterful. It is said everyone has a right to their own opinion and here's mine: yours sucks.
Welcome to Angelina Jordan's world. If you decide to take the journey, it's a long deep rabbit hole ahead of you. You will be bombarded with requests and pummeled with information from her first time in a recording studio when she was 6, to her present age of 15 (she will be 16 Jan. 10th) by her Angels. "Angels" is how she refers to her fans. Her roots are in Jazz, but there is no genre she can't handle, as she continually proves. She has right around 150 videos on UA-cam, mostly covers, but she has 5 originals including the one you just listened to that was written about her Grandfather that passed away recently. (she did say she had a hard time holding it together doing this) She made a promise to herself at age 6 that she would never wear shoes while performing in public, and has kept that promise for the past 9 years. She became Norway's youngest published author when she was 9, after writing a book about why she doesn't wear shoes, and she donated the majority of the money from that book to children's charities. She sings with more feeling and emotion than anyone I've heard in my 67 years. If you have any questions, someone will be happy to provide the answers. After watching the rest of your reaction, you will find that this young lady can do things with her voice that people her age shouldn't be able to do. I've listened to every song she has sung, most of them a hundred times or more, and I wouldn't be afraid to bet she has never used any type of mechanical enhancement on her voice. To see the only time I feel she was "pushed to her limit" check out her "I Have Nothing" Whitney Houston Tribute when she was 12. I feel she was pushed in this song, but then again, she was 12. I'm not a voice coach, but I have seen quite a few react to her on UA-cam, and they all agree that she does things people her age shouldn't know how or be capable of doing. And yeah, your opinion is your opinion. Most of us won't take it to heart, because after all, one bad critique out of thousands will be tossed aside, unless you have the ability to show why your opinion should be taken for anything other than, your opinion.
Huge Angelina Jordan fan! I agree that she seemed to strain a bit with "I Have Nothing" by the late great Whitney Houston but I bet if she ever tries it again she'll nail it! She's always been fearless and to even attempt that song at age 12 with her lower to begin with register is amazing.
This is a reaction video, gotta say you are the very first reactor, I have come across that did just that honestly. Wow I thank you for that. I get it, you were aware before you even said it, some are going to be upset. Yet you said it anyway. Hats off to you and thank you. I now am a subscriber just because I know for a fact your gonna say exactly what you think, and not doing this for the likes. Thank you. Thank you.
Hey buddy. That was actually a REALLY good reaction/analysis, and I would never in my wildest dreams hate someone for having an opinion, even a qualified opinion at that. Does that mean that I have to agree with everything? Of course not. And I don't. Not with everything you said, but with what you said during her song. All very valid points in my opinion, and you touched upon a few things only a select handful of reactors have done before you. Cudos for that. From a 3rd person viewpoint, I can easily see WHY you say what you say about her not connecting fully in this performance, and that you question whether or not this is really live and a pne take recording, or if it is stitched together. I, myself, as a Norwegian, have been following her closely since she won Norway's Got Talent in 2014, at the age of 7 (8 during the finale). And I firmly do believe that this is a one take performance. And I also think I see clear signs of her connecting quite a bit here. By that I mainly mean her posture, and not so much in her voice. She is 15 years old now (also in this performance, which is one of her most recent originals) and have been doing this for quite a long time, and has become a real professional at staying in control in every aspect of her performances. At the age of 12 though, she did not succeed to the same extent. I'm thinking of her performance of "Always On My Mind", which she dedicated to her other grandfather who had recently passed away. Go and check that one out for comparison if you want : ua-cam.com/video/dd8r7c-4-ks/v-deo.html Here you can see how brave she is and how she tries to keep her emotions in check, before finally giving in. As cynical as it may sound, I believe that Angelina The Artist took quite a lot away from that experience. By that I don't mean that showing emotions in a performance is a flaw or a sign of weakness, rather on the contrary, but that it's still something most artists will try to avoid. So, after all, I believe the best way for you to come to a final conclusion, is to keep reacting to her. It's always better to have an as firm foundation as possible to base something off of, right ? Why not react to her cover of "Young And Beautiful" by Lana Del Rey next? She is 12 years old in that one too, and will definitely show you what she was capable of in a one take recording already at that age : ua-cam.com/video/3prGThnLil4/v-deo.html Enjoy the rest of the week and take care my friend. Don't be a stranger now. Much love and above all respect from Norway ♥♥♥🔥🔥🔥
I am going to go to bed after reading your comment. I guess I don't have to tell you that some of the comments here have been less than kind. I know this is going to happen and I accept it and have tried to reply with nothing but kindness in return but I would be lying if I said that it had no effect on me at all. But your comment was not only kind, but also respectful, thoughtful and well said. Thank you Norway. I will go to bed feeling excited about journeying down this Angelina Jordan Road. Thank you.
I gave this reaction a like for all the interesting vocal nuances you commented on. If you delve into Angelina's catalog, you'll find that she's incredibly consistent in performing a song each time she does it. Part of her approach is to find the feeling in the song, but not to vary a lot from performance to performance. She's putting the emotion into the music, not into acting on screen. Watch a number of her live performances. She almost seems casual in belting huge, high notes, and whispering deeply emotional lyrics. I believe you'll change your thinking when you hear AJ's other songs. Give it a try! And remember, here she's singing about a beloved family member passing away, which she wrote -- at age 14. So she's hardly a burnout case! LOL
Thank you so much for the comment and for so graciously welcoming me into the Angelina Jordan universe. One thing I'll mention, when I talked about her maybe being, to use your word, "burned out" on this performance, please understand the context. I was very specifically talking about this performance alone. As others have mentioned, she likely had to sing through this song dozens of times, being coach and reminded about, "remember your right hand was up here" or "No, your head was tilted to the other side." And after a whole day (or even multiple days) of doing this for one performance, anyone (especially a 14 year old girl who just wants to make art) could get burned out. But I don't think that's what happened here. The more I learn about her and this performance the more I think I was right when I spoke at 15:25. I hope you made it that far into the video and if you didn't I hope you'll go and give it a listen because I really think I got it right. And I'd love to know your thoughts.
@@tnae To each his own in terms of how a song moves you or doesn't. This one always moves me, as I lost a dear family member, three actually, in recent years. And thanks for your reply! I look forward to more of your Angelina reactions, and I hope you enjoy her unique work.
Angelina is a very difficult artist to analyse,it's fascinating how so many reactors, including singers and vocal coaches struggle to get a grip on her artistry.I enjoyed and appreciate your analysis and I'm excited and hopeful that you really go deep into her many performances. You might also want to check out 2 interviews that reactor Alan Papier did with her solo guitarists(Ivan Mendez,Egil Clausen), for some insights into how she processes her music.
Your second interpretation of her performance is dead on. In her own introduction to the song she tells us that when she was in the studio recording this song initially, the tears were flowing. This is an intensely emotional song for her. I really enjoyed your reaction. I can't wait for your next reaction.
yes sir. I agree. I of course knew nothing going in but the more I learn about her and the circumstances surrounding the song and this performance the more I feel I had it on the nose with that second interpretation, as you said. I am really excited to see where things go from here on the Angelina Jordan journey .
@@tnae Loved your insights on her singing. Please don't let the protective nature of some of her fans from you doing more on her. Many of us are looking forward to it. You should learn more about Angelina. I see other people have said this. It is very personal. You also put her much older than she is. She is only 15 now. I am guessing she is 14 here. She has said her first recording of this, the one with the lyrics, that she cried through the entire recording. Go listen to that one. She is very connected. It is beautifully sung. You want a performance. Most people really like watching her live over listening. Maybe Stay or Million Miles... not this one it is a cover.
Hi,thank you for your honest reaction and opinion.Yes Angelina has been doing this her whole life but this song is a tribute to her grandfather who passed, and it must have been tough for her to sing this ,especially at her age.It is possible as you say that this is too close to home.I did notice her breath at the top of some phrases was a bit short, which I've never heard before from her.If the performance was not 100%,it just means that she is human and I love that.I admire her so much for her musicality, her giving nature and her strength.
Angelina is different in so many ways when compared to other musical artists. I believe Angelina values her vocal performance over everything. For her, it is all about the music and not about her. One of the most commonly used words by vocal coaches, when reacting to Angelina, is genuine (her music comes from her heart and soul). There is a video of a top executive at UMG telling Angelina she is one of only 3 vocalists who come into the studio and need only one take. I don't know if this video was of the first take but it likely was. In my opinion, Angelina's vocals are so unique that no additional type of performance is needed. While others have to SHOW they are being emotional, Angelina's vocals alone are the most emotional vocals, in my opinion. Angelina does use hand, and facial gestures to provide some physical performance and I think that is enough. If her lack of 'performance' limits her popularity during her career, then it will be that much easier for me to acquire tickets to the best singer story teller of my lifetime. I gave your reaction a thumbs up.
Thanks for watching and thanks for the thumbs up. I agree with what you said about her qualities as a singer. I just told someone else that If I had listened to this song on the radio I would have raved about how emotional and connected she was vocally. She was and it was beautiful. I just think that saying you don’t need to be a good physical performer because your voice is so great would be kind of like a painter saying I don’t need to learn good color theory because my brush technique is so good. Or a dancer saying that I don’t need to practice good footwork because I have such perfect rhythm. While it is absolutely true you could attain a certain level of success based entirely off of natural talent, I don’t know a single artist who cares about their craft who isn’t constantly looking for ways to improve. Delivering a strong live or visual performance is, some could say, a skill secondary for singers to their vocals. Do The thing is, I can point to several singers who didn’t have great singing voices but because of their ability to convey emotion and experience through song and on stage, they are some of the most impactful and well known singers of all time. On the other hand I can’t think of any game changing talents who had the most amazing singing voices but were like robots on stage who had any significant level of success. Not that she was robotic, far from that… I just think we have a fundamental disagreement about the importance of being well rounded in your craft. Regardless, if you’ll forgive my soap box there, lol, I really appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment. I hope to see you back here on future videos!
@@tnae Thank you so very much for your reply. You make excellent points. I am certain Angelina cares very much about improving her craft and it will be very interesting how well she does in your area of expertise. I would add, in my opinion, Angelina is the only vocalist who conveys tremendous emotion naturally with very little physical performance and has done so seemingly from birth.
@@tnae I honestly don't understand your obsession of the need to perform. That only distract your attention from the voice and meaning of the lyrics and that is the problem with to days music with singers that are not so good and need all the extras. Without it , most of to days singers are expose. Listen to judges, vocal coaches and other reactors; its the voice and tone of Angelina that draws them in. Like one said: Its hypnotic. Why wants anything more?
I flew to Norway from USA to hear her sing this song one of them it was real it was really good similar what your hair cost lives better than on the studio she said at 40,000 people you can look it up if you want to see it it’s no worries got it so authorities
I notice that this reaction has half as many dislikes as it has likes. I guess we Angelina fans are fiercely supportive in our belief in her talent and in her generally. That said, I also get that you're coming at this from a performance analysis perspective. As you watch more of her singing - especially the live performances - you may find that the most consistent feature of her performances is her calmness, her centred-ness - did i just make up a word 😊? - and yet the feeling and emotions come through in her singing. I am beginning to think it's that calmness is what allows her to sing the way she does. My recommendation would be to watch more live performances - and there are several of them - and then reconsider your assessment. I liked your analysis of how her voice works; I just think you should listen to more of her. Cheers!
This one she wrote herself and it was in memory of her grandpa. She had a hard time because she was crying while recording this song. She doesn`t need to act. This is her pouring out her grief and emotions, I cried when I heard it the first time. She want to give comfort and hope to those who have lost their loved ones. It is ok for you to have a different reaction to this video. You don`t know much about her and have only seen her once before. She is only 15 years old and is still a student. I hope she never becomes one of those regular popstars singing songs that mostly sounds the same all the time. I hope she stays true to herself and don`t walk into the trap of the music industry. She is for real and she is a very special and warmhearted person. Thanks for your reaction. Ann from Norway.
She has always had that quality in her voice. It is that that makes her voice one of a kind. I'm not sure how much formal training she has had, but no one has tried to coach that out of her. There seems to be a subtle change to vocal teaching these days, where they coach to the voice and not necessarily to a strict set of vocal regimes that may or may not be practical to the singer as they are. My mom used to call it covering the note. She said some singers can get there and sound like the note is fully under the singers control. Then others can hit the same note but it sounds like it is frayed at the edges. She said Maria Callas, who she loved, could sometimes sing a note that felt like her voice could lose it's hold. But mom called either covering or not covering the note. I 'll give you another young singer that is 6 months younger that Angelina who is the other singer I call my 'Twins'. They have similar experiences. I am giving you Daneliya Tuleshova's audition for AGT2020. If you listen to her when she reaches the top of her range she never seems like she is straining. Now I love both these singers to death and have followed both for 4 years or more. I noticed the same thing, but didn't get much support. Anyway, I love Angelina and only see great things for her. I just feel a little more like my evaluation was more correct. ua-cam.com/video/kPxvubp91oo/v-deo.html Daneliya's audition 'Tears Of Gold' by Faouzia
I am an avid Angelina fan, but I do agree with you on the high note in Bohemian Rhapsody. If you want to review what I think is her best song to date, listen to 'I'm Still Holding Out For You'. This song was done when she was 10, just before her 11th birthday. It's a song by Baby Fuzz who asked her to do a demo. She did the demo but her family didn't want it realest because the last verse talks about suicide. It did get realest by someone and most hardcore Angelina fans think it's her best. The family has not done anything to have it removed. She also has a cover of Whitney Houston's 'I Have Nothing'.
Hello! You got it right...This is a song she wrote recently, because her grandfather died. She is singing about him and how she feels. I believe this is the first song she wrote, recently anyways. You are very sensitive and I appreciate your observations about this fact without knowing how she recently loss her beloved Grand Father. If she was to connect to much with this song in the stage, she would end up crying and stop singing. That would not be good for her. Instead she sings and makes "Us" all cry. She's lovely. Cheers.Subscribed!
I think we believe the vocal coaches & vocal teachers who react to Angelinaʻs phrasings, melodic lines, dipthongs, tripthongs, coloring, vowels etc. and her bluesy jazz singing.📌📌📌
If you think she just achieved incredible control, check out "At last" (the indoor stage) with lyrics. She was 9 yrs old and was suffering from a cold that day. She's had amazing control since she was a baby. Read her Bio on Republic records website. She has been the driving force of her career since she was a toddler. She's always known where she is going in life, and how she's going to get there. You really have a lot to learn about her.
Omg I have followed her since she was 7. She lost her grandpa this is for him. Lord wait till u chk out her classics fly me to the moom, summertime, Gloomy sunday. Then the epic I put a spell on you..... this girl was born to sing with every fibre of her being....
I think that everyone is looking forward to hearing her live, after AGT, and more than a hundred songs on UA-cam, it is difficult to assimilate so much talent. I do not know if in this recording there was any kind of manipulation by the studio, there are opinions like yours that see 'help' in this belting. Look for 'It's a man world', he was 12 years old and he performed live with a military orchestra, perhaps 'I have nothing', 13 years old, live in front of a microphone, without any kind of 'arrangement', it can clarify something else your doubts. Personally, I've never heard Whitney hit those octaves live.
There’s no problem here this is pure Angelina no more no less I’m sorry Angelina lives for her music you’re so wrong This song she wrote as a tribute to her grandpa who she was very close to she said it was for anyone else who lost a loved one she also said on Instagram I hope this song finds a place in your heart as it comes straight from mine she was only 14 here she’s 15 now Angelina is the best singer in the world 🌎 as far as I’m concerned and this song was perfect I’ve been following her since she was 8yrs old and she’s never let me down and I know she never will Angelina has so many voices she can sing anything react to her singing another one of her own songs Shield live after just been interviewed I’m going to subscribe even though you really got to me I won’t lie but believe me you will not be sorry if you keep reacting to Angelina you will be absolutely amazed so let’s see how we get on 👍ok Love from Denise in Yorkshire England 🏴👼👸🏻🦶🦶👏👏💕🥰👋
The big note in Bohemia rhapsody was meant as a painful cry out. Also, as you explore her more, you’ll realize it’s not auto-tune. Glad you’re enjoying her. 😊
Never once did I suggest she was using auto tune....but, by the way, since you brought it up, I guarantee you that on any of her studio productions they 100% use autotune to one degree or another. There's nothing wrong with that.
@@tnae 😬😬 Easy. No shade intended at all, and never once did I suggest you said she definitely used auto-tune. You were up in the air about it. My intention was not to offend you. Sorry, if it came off that way. 😬✌️✌️✌️😬 I’ll refrain from commenting moving forward. 😊
@@Socialshug no worries. I tried to explain at the end that even I in the moment there was a chance I was being over sensitive because of the volatility of the comments I have received on that video. I really tired (and thought in the moment I did a decent job) of staying level. Apparently I failed and for that, I apologize. I’m sorry that I’ve discouraged you from commenting in the future. I would like to do something to make it up to you so if you would like to comment just one last time and leave a link here or send it to my email I will be happy to produce a special request reaction for you. Either way, thanks for the replay.
@@tnae No, I didn’t think you failed at all. I didn’t feel you were unfair. I was just giving my opinion that high note was more a painful cry than a beautiful note, but I’ve been listening a little longer, so I know she’s capable of nailing those notes. Hey, your opinion is just as valid as mine. At the end of the day, we are just giving our own.
@@tnae About autotune that I heard scratching sound when Angelina begins to sing "Suspicious Minds" studio version not sure you heard this one. There was discussion on autotune when she released "Million Miles", I remember some fans clairified her Grammy producers Stargate denied it completely and "autotune" became a taboo word because of his Grammy award credibility since then.
Thank you for your reaction. No, I don't hate you, I feel sorry for you. Angelina is not a performer. That is actually what you want. Angelina is a story teller. She talks to our hearts and souls with her words and voice. Most of us don't like her to perform but communicate to us personally with her voice. Music is her life and she is music. Why is it that so many people start crying when they watch her singing and especially this video. Why will any one want more than that I honestly don't understand. The best to understand Angelina is to watch her performance at NGT when she was 7 or even when she was 6. A 14 year old kid struggle here to control her emotions while singing her tribute to her grandfather.
She is 14 here and 13 on AGT Champions, today she is 15. A beautiful tribute to her maternal grandfather who passed recently and to all those we have lost. She is literally crying out when recording this due to her deep love for her grandfather which may tilt your perception of this, there were tears flowing down her face during the studio recording. You can see her take a big swallow during the performance in keeping with your alternate hypothesis about her emotional involvement being so great. She is not acting here. There are 2 other versions of this, a music video and a lyrics video with animation by her grandmother Mere. WRT high belts, watch her performance of "Its a Man's World" with the Norwegian Army Staff band on a band stand in the park. The recording is on a home camera but the performance is world class.
@That's not Acting Either: I've listened to your comments and I must say that much of what you have said is true. Ahh!! Those who are fans of Angelina, and those who are not, agree on one thing: there is something refreshing about this wonderfully, young, ready-to-take-on-the-world little lady. She breathes authenticity. If you ask any of her fans you will hear similarities in how they view her, being voiced. Angelina is a breath of fresh air. In an industry where everything is tucked and adjusted and examined beyond belief to change "it" into some caricature of what "it" should be, Angelina softly tiptoes on our hearts unfettered and as believable as any young child. My fear is that, and I can see it already, (just note the comments you made), that she will be pulled here and there because everybody knows what she needs or must do and will want a piece of the pie to show her and her family what they can do for her. In the end, what will be left is little resemblance to what we love so much - that part of her that stands out from the rest of entertainers and performers. I pray that her parents and her uncle will not sell her to the highest bidder but that they will negotiate contracts for specified periods. Safeguarding this wonderful child and her talents is paramount. All that said, I don't disagree with you. It's just that I feel some type of "memorial" coming upon us.
I can understand something of where you are coming from regarding the constriction you sensed in Angelina's belt in her Bohemian Rhapsody performance. However for me It was a moment of raw, heart rending emotion. The expression of a torn heart. A tearing cry of grief, pain and anguish! Pain is constrictive the note expressed this pain perfectly.
This vet her grandfather who passed away your tribute to him how she never alone he’s always weather in spirit What a moving rendition she did for that ❤️ felt My analysis it was fantastic for a class
I appreciate your response and as I said before you are absolutely entitled to your opinion. Obviously all people are not always going to agree. In my mind, another way to describe actors is pretenders. Some are incredibly good at it while others aren't. What I think you're missing is that Angelina Jordan is a singer and has never come across as a pretender and I don't believe her fans want one. You wouldn't compare a guitarist to a saxophone player. They're two different animals. She's a singer. What I love, besides her rich voice is her fearlessness and her ability to make every song her own and draw you in right away and she's been doing it for a long time. Does she hit a home run every time? No, but nearly every time. I'm willing to bet most if not all of her fans were drawn into Million Miles which was a beautiful tribute to her grandfather. There's also a version where you don't see Angelina but just the words. Maybe you should check that out or maybe you've had all you want to have of her. I don't know. But I think I can safely say, this girl was born to sing.
To me, I believe her "lack" of emotion, is her trying not to cry. This song means a lot to her, she wrote it to her grandfather who passed, and has said that she cried in the studio while recording it.
Great, thanks! I appreciate your take on this "live in studio" performance. She has said she goes into another, beautiful world when she sings, and generally she is great at expressing emotions from there.. I think this "other world' quality interferes with her "performance' in terms of what audiences expect these days. She has never been much of a performer. It seems that Republic Records really started working with her to 'perform' after this video (her first with them). The original studio version of this song accompanied by a animated lyric video that she and her grandmother helped to create is a better 'performance' of this song. ua-cam.com/video/NhKRh5ZtuWk/v-deo.html You're right, because she has said tears were coming down her face while she sang this version, and I think the emotional connection is stronger. It seems like most people prefer to see her, but that often means they don't listen quite as deeply. Her original "7th Heaven" (jazzy!) ua-cam.com/video/9rLiWvwzbCA/v-deo.html and cover of Adele's "All I Ask" ua-cam.com/video/8gJuprckBxI/v-deo.html are good examples of "the performer" taking shape. fyi, she performs barefoot to bring awareness to children around the world who don't have shoes.
To those ripping into him, he is giving an opinion, his opinion. Chill out. Nothing wrong with what he said at all, he praisd her a lot, he is a performance coach so he is toing to be looking at that too. without the back story of it being very personal and about her grandfather passing he can not hit the nail on the head. But he did around 15 minutes in suggest why she may not have been over preforming it. Give the guy a break, anyone with no background to the song looking at her physically performance would say she didn't do much physically, and thats all he said. Most singers would have been throwing their arms about and holding the stand whilst leaning in to the mic to show their emotion, but like he suggested it's too personal for her atleast within this video.
Thank you. I appreciate your honest and cogent reaction and have subscribed for more because I want to watch your journey with Angelina. As you can see, Angelina's fans, her "angels" as she calls us, especially those of us who fell in love with her at age seven, are fiercely loyal. I would encourage you to go back to those four winning performances on Norway's Got Talent to better understand more about her & why we love her as if she were our own daughter or granddaughter, and proceed from there. Here's a thought...perhaps what you see as a lack of emotional connection, if I understand you right, actually comes from too great, too deep a connection for her to bear, & the need for some constraint on her part to keep from falling apart altogether, steeling herself just to get through the performance without breaking down. Is that possible? We all do that to some degree in various circumstances, shut down our emotions to save ourselves from unbearable pain. You mention that spectacular run in her arrangement of BoRhap. I hear it as an echo of Brian May's guitar riff at the same place in the Queen original. I have repeated this opinion on several other reactions, but can't seem to get anyone to go back & listen to the original and tell me what they think. 😎
Ive listened twice to your comments and clearly understand what may be happening here. Your wanting to make a name for yourself by way of ruffling feathers
What I think that you personally don't know or understand is that Angelina is a naturally reserved person...very serious and focused. Her main focus has been learning technical skills and experimenting with different types of music from different decades. Combined with natural vocal talent/abilities she is are especially unmatched for girl of her age which as been her focus since she was barely talking. Being that her family has been very protective of her combined with her age, she also lacks life experiences, given her natural reserved personality I do agree with your comments "to a point" but I think that you are getting such an amazingly talented person to listen to, that you are not understanding that she is a teenager and a reserved teenager at that. Give her time to just grow up. Angelina is not a fake, what she discovers in her the "other part" of live performances, is developing and growing as Angelina is and developing and growing. It is kind of funny because at her age, I think that it is more common to see the emotion..even exaggeration in a performance with lack of vocal quality and lack of techniques (since they are young as are their voices and their knowledge of different techniques). With Angelina, we are seeing a young girl/now teenager with the knowledge of techniques and the quality of voice that are way beyond her years and even at a level that many adult singers never even get to. The rest of it will evolve naturally as she matures into adulthood.
I'm not sure Angelina is ever going to develop a 'showbiz' performance style ... she's an introvert. In the ten years that are covered by her UA-cam video collection, there has never been an interview where she has adopted the 'cute giggly kid with a winning smile and plenty of chat' or, later, the 'witty and attractive good fun teen never lost for words' personas preferred by talk show hosts and entertainment reporters. Just look at her close family: Sara her mum avoids interviews like the plague, as does her brother (and Angelina's manager) Michael. When cornered, they look awkward and uncomfortable, like Angelina herself. Grandma Mery, who is credited with being a major influence on her grand-daughter's career has, as far as I'm aware, never given an interview ... more than that, I've yet to hear her even talk on camera. Sister Juliette is a mute mystery hidden in Angelina's shadow. In other words, Angelina's reticence when she's not actually singing is a family trait. Then there's the physical reticence ... someone (maybe Heidi Klum or her daughter) has tried working on her movement fluidity by teaching Angelina a set of standard photo-model poses which we saw in 'Funny Valentine'. Maybe she needs dance classes ... seems to have worked for her compatriot Aurora, who is also an introvert and was intensely shy when she started out on her career, afraid of any physical contact ... dance seems to have brought her out of her shell, but it took ten years. 🙂R (Australia)
today it's her 16th birthday and she started to be on stage with 7 on "NGT" and winning the show in 2014! 😉....... thanks to support her with your reacting video with one of her original song. the lyrics are about her grandfather, he was dieing a few years ago. you will be supprised with her music chilp's. nr. one is "i put a spell at you" at 10 years old and nr. 2 is "7th haven" at 14 years. it' a reacting channel about creative stage/video performence. it's your job doing well, because we are here not in disney land at all and you are doing well in my opinion. thumbs up!
You are completely wrong this song was dedicated to her grandfather who had passed. And by the way she is at this time only 15, everyone has their own opinion I personally think she puts entirely too much emotion, in some of her songs. But you know what they say about opinions every one has one. The thing about Angelina is the entire package, how many 6 year olds make a commitment and 10 years later still stick to it. How many 9 year olds do you know can say they're the youngest author in their country? How many teenagers do you know have raised millions of dollars for charities? YES I believe the emotion in this song was heart felt, she's singing it more to herself that he will hold a spot in her heart.
It's also possible that she is jaded from having to do multiple takes to achieve the various camera angles. I doubt there are more than two cameras on set and I strongly suspect there was only one - yet the angle or framing change for every line of the song. She's 14 here and has never shown any inclination to do things over when doing her self-made videos even where she has made mistakes. Single camera set-ups require the talent to reproduce movements multiple times to give the editor more freedom. After hours singing the same song, the only thing they want to connect with is a soft pillow.
Absolutely agree. (I’m still shocked that I’ve learned she was only 14!). I thought I said something like this in my breakdown at the end. I think I described it as lag and talked about how she had to do it so many times and that it can start to feel like work… I’m pretty sure I said that. I hope I didn’t cut it and forget, lol. Thanks for offering another perspective!
@@tnae I saw this video within 1/2 hour of it being released. The first two shots were exactly the same except in the second shot she looked to her right at the camera. She looked pissed off. The next day this shot was replaced with the current shot. I couldn't get into the video because of the way it was shot and edited. There were about 60 cuts, one every 3.1 seconds that included still and tracking shots. Not only was this distracting, but it also affects one's attention and involvement in the video. The editing is very, very amateurish! Long takes add emotional value to an image. Add to this that there were a number of times AJ takes quick glances at the camera that was obviously unintended. She was distracted which is very unlike her. I also questioned if there were two or three cameras. Maybe there was only one. OMG! I've seen many reactors cry during this song and I believe it is very emotional, especially if you listen to it without viewing the video. It is sung the same as the release.
I have watched this, and read many comments and your replay regarding the performance and her acting skills. I think you might be right that her body is not in contact with her emotions. Though she is a very good vocalist emitting emotions through her voice, she is not up to now a dancer. She is young and it can be taught to bring that Flow into your movements, but for know her stage present lacks some of that. I have seen a short clip of her dancing with Heidi Klum and there it is very clear that she seems a little shy and doesn't have the rythm in her body. I think her introvert shyness is something she must work on. Look at Aurora in comparison, she is dancing and conveying emotions with her whole body. (and have had dancing lessons. Actually the only training she has had) But I guess Angelina will develop her stage precens or find a format that suits her. She already has the voice.. (watch her video of 7th heaven) (pardon my english 😏)
Angelina's originals are personal. This one touches her deeply. See "Always On My Mind" to see who she is singing about at: ua-cam.com/video/dd8r7c-4-ks/v-deo.html
Thank God, I'm not the only person who thought that about the high note in Bohemian Rhapsody. Having said that you need to do more Angelina Jordan, she's phenomenal at any age. You won't believe her version of 'Í put a spell on you' The song you're listening to was written for her departed grandfather who she misses greatly. I think for a 15 year old she's doing pretty well. Having said that I get where you're coming from and can respect your opinion.
Thank you for such an interesting and heart-felt reaction. I'm sorry that you got some rude replies but it looks like they were a small minority. I consider myself an angel but my favourite version of this song is the lyric video, for the amazing artwork (based on her Grandmother's paintings) and also for a specific reason which relates to something you highlighted. It's that point where, in this 'live in studio' version, she runs up to a free high note, stops, then comes back in with the (lower) last chorus. In the 'produced' lyric video version that chorus starts *underneath* that high run just before it finishes. After listening to that many times it still threatens to bring tears to my eyes. It's like a beautiful knife to the heart.

Buddy... I love your HONEST reactions! If people don’t want to hear how you actually feel about a video, then why are they here? Keep being you! That’s why I’m here anyway! Great reaction 😊
There is a train of thought that argues that a reactors impressions of a song are valid, whatever they are, so long as they are honest. I don’t buy this at all. The key for me is a modicum, at least, of research leads to an informed honest opinion. These are the opinions that have value for me.
@@kevingood4644 When I hear a song on the radio, or even here on UA-cam... it needs to move me, connect with me... BEFORE I go digging for the backstory or information on the artist.. I can have an honest and true “reaction” (opinion) to something without knowing where the song comes from, why it was written and so on. Artists that really affect me (and we are all different when it comes to this) don’t have to sell me the storyline before I hear the song... The song and the performance tells all.. yes this song becomes more touching when you know it’s about her grandfather and yes you realize she might be holding back due to overwhelming emotions and yes she’s only 15.... that doesn’t change an HONEST first time reaction to this performance... you might appreciate the song more after knowing the backstory... but that first reaction/opinion remains true.
@@stefanichouinard4413 these 3 things you mention would have impacted, altered his reaction had he been aware of them. He’s admitted this himself in other comments.
I wasn’t going to say anything but you’re misrepresenting my words, keven. I have said that if I had known she was only 14 that I would have mentioned that she would most certainly hone the skills I was referencing over time. I’ve said that I absolutely don’t have the same emotional reaction to her music that a fan would because, obviously, I don’t know anything about her and don’t share that personal connection her fans feel with her. But I have also made it clear that I stand by what I said. I can’t think of a single thing that I said in critique that I would retract. Vocally she is something special. She has room to grow in her performance. I’ve learned several things that will factor into how I approach her next song…that being said, nothing I’ve learned will cause me to say something about her performance that I don’t believe or omit something that I observe. In the end, I’m in agreement with Staphani here. I don’t want to research an artist (at least not before my first listen). I would much rather have an unbiased eye.
Second branch to me is the right one...this is a very personal song to her, dedicated to her Grandad...When you "know" her, and how important he was for her...then emotion is there. For me anyway, how do you explain that ? Each time she gives what she is at that moment precisely...No cheating around, even it that means the reaction you have and your interrogations...But yes interesting reaction...no harm done.
The more I learn (especially learning she was only 14) the more I am confident that the second branch was correct. I would explain the emotion being there with your own words, “you know her and how important [her grandfather] was for her.” Having that story, having that connection is a definite asset for the listener. This is part of the reason fandoms can become so intense. The more you know about a person on a personal level the more connected you feel to that person, the more intensely you relate to the messages that they share in their music. It’s a real, natural phenomenon. I just didn’t have the benefit of this connection that you and so many others obviously share with her. Maybe that will change for me as I listen to more of her work. Thank you so much for watching and for commenting and for doing so respectfully and even with kindness while still staying true to your feelings. I hope you’ll come back as I listen to more of her music.
Here it is the end of May. Viewed this for the first time. Now I know what you said in other video in regard to all the negative feedback. You are looking at a different perspective of this performance. Me, not being a professional. I see it and hear it through the eyes and ears of a spectator. I love the performance and it brought tears. You don’t agree with that but you probably understand why. Thanks 🌺
Wow what an awesome reaction sir,i was blown away too how you technically react to my living miracle talented youngter angelina jordan. Thank you so much kindy check on her clips you will discover alot from her auditions of norways got talent.hse ahs her own unique way of doing her music. She is music❤️❤️❤️❤️🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗 done subscribing🤗👍
Great reaction. Subscribed for your future Angelina reactions. You have started down a fantastic rabbit hole and you won’t regret it. She never disappoints. A great example of her ability to emote in a live performance is “Feeling Good “ at age 10. Also, “What a Difference a Day Makes “ at age 8. Thanks.
See some more of her and stay honest and I will watch:) She has a lot more, for me her most emotional performance was "a million years ago" .. Her most cool was " I put a spell on you" she has a lot where she go "beast-mode" as in "its a mans world", "Im lovin you", "I will always love you" etc;) I believe we can enjoy lots of your reactions in the future, and pkaese stay honest:)
Agree to disagree. You have just been introduced to the past, the present and the future. Angel-ina is a musical miracle that has a voice of gold. Good luck! Love>hate❣
You are pretty accurate in your analysis. 1. You are actually right about the high note in Bohemian Rhapsody, it felt like it was her limit at the time. Her next songs, this one and particularly the next one All I ask (Adele cover), she extended her vocal range quite a bit. 2. You did notice the auto-tune effect in her voice. I know for a fact that a human voice can reproduce it and I believe she would never use auto-tune, because she has years of live performance experiences in front of a crowd. She wouldn't feel true to her fans and listeners if she had to digitally manipulate her voice. Her imperfections actually her performances so much more valuable! 3. And the emotional part, it was also true, she was overwhelmed at the time of the recording. I think I know what you mean, but I did connect to her pain. The thing I noticed about Angelina Jordan is that not everyone can connect with her on a heart to heart level. Some people can judge the technical skills, but somehow miss completely the emotions that she's conveying. I appreciated your reaction and would definitely like to see another one from you! Subbed! The next in line could be All I ask or I put a spell on you (black and white in studio version). On the latter one, she was a lot younger, not having the range and maturity she has now. Still very impressive in my humble opinion~
She is just the best. Get deeper in the rabbit hole - I Garantie you will be surprised. I don’t know where you should begin, just choose a song you like and listen to her version. She now works a lot with Stargate (also Norwegian) he said that is just a couple they had worked with that can sing a song through without any teknical adjustments. So you better believe. The one artist I really belive - it is her. This song was to her grandpa that died, so she told she was crying singing this.
Wrote it at 14 after her grandpa died she sang this version at 15 ,, she turned 17 this year Jan 10th 2023, and she will be dropping another album this year the first under republic records
You will believe it when u hear her belt in It’s A Mans World, Diamond Are Forever and Loving You. In AGT she also showed even more range with Yellow Brick Road.
She has stated - she was in tears all the way through the performance. Republic records allowed her to release it under her own channel sensing the same thing, too personal. By the way, classic teachers believe she is capable of singing auto tunes.
Yes her vocal agility was insanely strong. I hear that. I hope that you stayed and heard what so many others who are very angry missed. I really believe, having learned what I have about her and the circumstances of the song, that my assumption about the content of the song being too personal was probably right on the money. I do hope you heard that. I appreciate the comment and I thank you for expressing your thoughts while remaining kind and respectful. I hope to see you in the comments again as I move through more of her works.
I think you have to go to her live show she did in Norway were she sang this song live no gimmicks just real talent outstanding performance which is very emotional studio version is good but live amazing and only 16
it was a song she wrote about her grandfather that passed . A bit of sadness for her . Very good reaction. Try out{ I put a spell on you} when she was 8 or 9 .
It has been suggested that I should address a particularly common theme and misunderstanding that I'm seeing in many comments here in just one rather than continue to repeat myself in all these replies. First a couple of misconceptions that I need to address:
FIRST: I, in no way, believe or ever said that Angelina Jordan isn't an amazing singer/vocalist.
The simplest way that I can put it is to quote an authority on the acting art form (in fact, I'm going to title the comment with this quote):
Acting is Living Truthfully under imaginary circumstances.
it is about her grandfather, not 4 people, who passed away
@@rickhilde8281 not a grandfather, both her two grandfathers
@@ClaudioMarcucci7756 your story just changed
But we all love her true authenticity and her positive messages for life
Actually she wrote this after her grandpa passed and I think she was more focused on sharing her
feelings than being jazzy, plus the fact that it was probably very emotional for her.
Angelina wrote this song for her grandfather who passed away,. she was 11 years old, I believed. so. In this video she was 12
She was still 14 when she recorded this; she is 15 now.
I'm Still Holding out for You - ua-cam.com/video/Dv8mjCh5iiE/v-deo.html
A Song for A - ua-cam.com/video/4_vBAP2_2A0/v-deo.html
she was 10 on I'm still Holding Out For You and 12 on A song for A
15 years old and just turned 15.
Angelina has been an undeniable star since she was 7 - singing jazz classics. She consistently impresses. She is my favourite artist. 😎
@@CLEO1971222 😉 I agree, and her "Angels" are everywhere. 😊
Go and check that one out for comparison if you want : ua-cam.com/video/dd8r7c-4-ks/v-deo.html
Here you can see how brave she is and how she tries to keep her emotions in check, before finally giving in.
She is 12 years old in that one too, and will definitely show you what she was capable of in a one take recording already at that age : ua-cam.com/video/3prGThnLil4/v-deo.html
Enjoy the rest of the week and take care my friend.
No autotune for Angelina. She is that good.
No no, there is an autotune, but it is in her throat…🤩
Yes, Angelina Jordan, is amazing! She has a beautiful voice!
Well said! Thanks so much for welcoming me into her atmosphere. I look forward to getting to know her better.
She is unic. Listen to "I have nothing" live in Norway, pa gransen. 💕💎
I like Angelina's voice. It's great to see her on your channel!
Believe, she is the real deal. Listen to almost any of her videos and you cannot help but understanding this talent and the passion behind them.
(now could you spread the word to some of these other die hard Angelina fans? lol, they're tearing me up. :p
Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching the video to the end. I am really excited to see where things go from here on the Angelina Jordan journey .
@@tnae Loved your insights on her singing. Please don't let the protective nature of some of her fans from you doing more on her. Many of us are looking forward to it. I think it says something about her that people don't just love her music but care so much for her as a person. Not that kindness can't be shown with that caring at the same time.
Angelina is the best talent On the planet today, and is only 15 years old. Been following her for 6 years, and her future is the stratosphere . Also she is generous, humble, and arranges all of her covers. All genres are a piece of cake for her. Check out “ I have nothing cover of Whitney Houston, when she was 12.
She does it, but isn't that strong in that one either, if we're honest. She is not a soprano after all...
That’s not boredom either, it’s grief.
...........and you were doing so well too. It's like the famous line from the movie," I [ you ] could have bin somebody, I [ you ] could have bin a contender". It's like all of a sudden you bumped your head and suddenly know not what you speak. This is not just another singer. The technics you speak of...she could teach. Her credibility is impeccable!
your honesty doesn't make you right, it's your opinion which most don't agree with. thank you for reacting to our Angel.
I appreciate you acknowledging that I was being honest, giving my honest opinion and thoughts. That's what I'm supposed to be doing here, right? :)
I appreciate you watching and commenting. I hope to see you in the comments again on this journey through Angelina's music.
This is a heartfelt tribute written in honor of the passing of her grandfather
I pity everyone who is not able to feel the emotions that song/performance conveys...
I feel like so many have this take and it’s a misunderstanding. I have told several people now that if I had heard this on the radio I would be raving about how emotional and connected she was lyrically. That is true of this performance and I think I said as much.
@@tnae i think Angelina is a singer, not a performer. She lets her singing tell the story of the song. Not a lot of jumping around.
14 maybe 15 here.
@@tnae People that make mistakes and will acknowledge that were mistaken are given plenty of kudo's.
I see none of that from you.
This is her song she wrote it
She has always had that quality in her voice.

Great reaction
I liked your comments.. She has skilled voice. Very well trained. This was an emotional song for her on the death of her grandfather
She wrote this song for her grandfather.who had passed they where very close
Man, here he is 14, not 20 :)
Incredible talent, one of a kind ... I recommend her other songs, "My funny Valentine" suffers ...
I am 55 and I grew up a Rock n Role kid. All that said, she is the ONLY artist I can honestly say I absolutely Love everything she does.
Thanks for a great reaction. AJ is a gift to the world.
This vet her grandfather who passed away your tribute to him how she never alone he’s always weather in spirit
What a moving rendition she did for that ❤️ felt My analysis it was fantastic for a class
Sounds so blessed to me she's is born with a gifts I love listening to her voice.
Beautiful...
Beautiful reaction
Sir, you didn't hear something yet, find out what Angelina have done from her age of 7, and why she did write this song.
🙂R (Australia)
you also need to see more of what she does, then you will believe in the magic that is Angelina!
I Angelina Jordan has millions of fans
In a live concert in Norway she did very same thing on the stage it’s not a autotune
today it's her 16th birthday and she started to be on stage with 7 on "NGT" and winning the show in 2014! 😉.......
thanks to support her with your reacting video with one of her original song. the lyrics are about her grandfather, he was dieing a few years ago. you will be supprised with her music chilp's. nr. one is "i put a spell at you" at 10 years old and nr.
She was 14 years old in that song. She's amazing!!
She's sound like Angel..💓💓🥰
Actually the only training she has had)
But I guess Angelina will develop her stage precens or find a format that suits her. She already has the voice..
(watch her video of 7th heaven)
(pardon my english 😏)
Aurora does absolutly nothing for me. I don't in any way get what the deal is with so many people gushing over her. She's really bland in my opinion.
Angelina's originals are personal. This one touches her deeply. See "Always On My Mind" to see who she is singing about at: ua-cam.com/video/dd8r7c-4-ks/v-deo.html
No, that was her paternal grandfather in March 2018. Million Miles was her maternal grandfather in Nov. 2019.
@@nyima04011 And here, I thought she was still thinking about her other grandfather.

I second that Stefani ! Brandon has the guts and the courage to be honest and true with himself.
ANGELINA IS A TRUE MASTER! THE VERY BEST! AS JOHN F. KENNYDY JR. SAYS; "WHEN YOU KNOW..YOU KNOW"!
How different the feeling of a song can be...but it is totally ok. I like your reaction and thats why i subscribe.
Thanks frank! I appreciate your support.
They were fair comments. Take a look at her early stuff from when she was younger
You will believe it when u hear her belt in It’s A Mans World, Diamond Are Forever and Loving You. In AGT she also showed even more range with Yellow Brick Road.
This song is about her losing her grandfather whom she adored.
When this Video (and so the Song) was Recorded , She was 14yo (End of 2020) Her Birthday is January 10 , so She is 15yo now
She has stated - she was in tears all the way through the performance.
