    "Littlest Birds" Lyrics:
Well I feel like an old hobo,
    I'm sad lonesome and blue
I was fair as a summers day
Now the summer days are through
    You pass through places
    And places pass through you
But you carry 'em with you
On the souls of your travellin' shoes
Well I love you so dearly I love you so clearly
Wake you up in the mornin' so early
Just to tell you I got the wanderin' blues
    I got the wanderin' blues
And i'm gonna quit these ramblin' ways one of
    these days soon
    And I'll sing
The littlest birds sing the prettiest songs...
    Well it's times like these
I feel so small and wild
Like the ramblin' footsteps of a wanderin' child
And I'm lonesome as a lonesome whippoorwill
Singin these blues with a warble and a trill
But I'm not too blue to fly
No I'm not too blue to fly cause
The littlest birds sing the prettiest songs...
Well I love you so dearly
    I love you so fearlessly
Wake you up in the mornin' so early
Just to tell you I got the wanderin' blues
    I got the wanderin' blues
And I don't wanna leave you
I love you through and through
Oh I left my baby on a pretty blue train
And I sang my songs to the cold and the rain
    I had the wanderin' blues
And I sang those wanderin' blues
And I'm gonna quit these ramblin' ways
    One of these days soon
    And I'll sing...
The littlest birds sing the prettiest songs....
I don't care if the sun don't shine
I don't care if nothin' is mine
I don't care if I'm nervous with you
I'll do my lovin' in the wintertime

I’m a metal head. When I met my wife 18 years ago, I went to her house and sat with her in her room and watched her fold her laundry, in awe of the prettiest girl I’d ever seen, while she listened to this song and others. Today is our anniversary and I still love it. I’m a sap.

I've only recently discovered what feels like hidden treasure: female Canadian indie folk singers such as Be Good Tanyas, Sarah Harmer, Kathleen Edwards, Amelia Curran, Emilie Kahn, Whitney Rose, etc. Incredibly gorgeous music that should be getting more exposure.

This was one of my little brother Jim's favourite songs who was ten years younger than me because he told me that it's how he felt about my oldest daughters Tanya and Lacey who were only eight and ten years younger than him. Because my dear kind hearted wonderful brother had so much pain in his heart, not much gave him pure joy, which ultimately took him from us two years ago 💔 So I pop by now and then to listen to one of those rare things that gave my beloved brother and best friend pure joy. Thank you to the Be Good Tanya's for giving my brother those moments 💕

Thank you so much 💗 I was missing him today a lot. It's been almost 3 years now and my heart still aches for his lost friendship. The other song that I always listen to is "In the Blood" by John Mayer. He introduced me to it because he identified with it. I did right away as well because, well we share the same blood and many of the same issues. I'm just a little bit stronger than him and beat my addictions for the most part, where his accidentally killed him. I know without a doubt that his troubled soul is finally at peace now though 💙

I was a drunk, druggy, fugitive for almost 3 years at the time I first heard this song. I would wake up at 4:53 before my alarm clock would go off at 4:54. I would grab my lunch and my little mp3 player with this one song on it and I would run full speed in -20 to -40 at the time in Calgary, Alberta to make the first train for 5:00AM to catch the number 52 bus to transfer to another bus to go work in a factory as I wrote rhymes. The people who were jammed in sitting next to me on the bus hearing this song play over and over and over and over from my headphones for those 3 months. I often wonder what they thought.

I just found this talented band and this song on Spotify tonight and it is one of those songs that speaks to me so deep it just physically fills my heart right up and brings happy tears to me. Cause I love the folksy bluesy country sound and for me I translate the lyrics into being about the long time I spent wandering (not lost but wandering) often living in my car and building my confidence and voice like a little bird with a big heart while sometimes feeling pent-up, heartbroken, and invisible as I flew around seeking out nests. I'll cover this song one day.

I knew just a few seconds into this video that I was going to love it. The Style and Harmony is uplifting to my soul. I love the visual creativity and the footage that is used throughout... love the group and the song. It makes me feel like I am sitting with them on the stairs with a couple of spoons, just jammin' along.
    My Heartfelt Thanks.

Another band that I've discovered while watching a quality U.S TV show, this time Breaking Bad where I heard a cover of Waitin' Around To Die' and I needed to hear more so i came here listened to 'Littlest Birds' and immediately fell in love with it!

Adore that on the box set I bought for my mum (she changed here mind a few years later later about keeping it after listening to several times then decided she need to declutter some discs & gave it back to me to either keep, sell, or charity shop) where I discovered this song, gives an extra credit to either Syd Barrett or mentions that the "I don't care if the sun don't shine...I'll do my loving in the winter" comes from either Pink Floyd's Jugband Blues & or credits that it was written by Syd This is buried in the tiny print credits for disc 3, the disc they appear on as one of the few more modern tracks on the 3 disc box set The Very Best of Country Gold (released back in 2003!).

First time I heard this lovely song I heard, "Little ass birds sing pretty ass songs". I blame the car stereo :-)
