Thanks for the purchasing videos.. Really want to see locating and inspecting a good used truck
will do
You have very good pre inspection skills especially on the refrigerator trailer
Agreed 👍
Thanks for the information someone will definitely benefit from this when buying a trailer.
Appreciate the video. Can't wait for part 2!!!
2 more parts , did I buy one??? hmmmmm.. stay tuned...lol
Trailer envy!!! If you saw the trailer I have, you would act like you don't know me 🤣🤪 I keep striking out with all the trailers I look at.
I feel it would be smart to have two trailers just to keep me moving or one really good one.
That's a good looking trailer 👌
Great info. Thanks for sharing.
Shouldn't you start with the refrigerator unit motor first to see if that works since that's the most expensive part of the trailer
Either way
@@DIYSEMI my trailer has been abused by shippers and receiver s
I should have done this but live and learn I guess. My trailer box is a little busted up but still acceptable by shippers. Large gash on the passenger side wall back side and a foot size dip in the floor near the wall. Still air tight and clean enough for Tyson.
#moneymaker !!!!
@@DIYSEMI It sure doesn’t look pretty but I made so much money with that old trailer I can’t let it go.
Good info, looking forward to the part 2. Can you give some reasoning behind your preference in reefer units? Why these unit.....reliability?, cost of operation?, repairability? Thanks.
I prefer the Great Dane because in my opinion they are just a more sturdy trailer. Although several hundred pounds heavier. I like the doors and rear structure better on the Dane. I prefer Carrier over TK because of simplicity. TK"S now have egr on them for emissions where as carrier just used a slightly smaller engine so it does not need egr. less maintenance and in my opinion, now more reliable. althought slightly louder than a TK
@@DIYSEMI Again, great info thank you for the quick response.
Good question ❓
Let's gooooo
Pretty clean trailer. Good luck with your search.
Thank you!
@@DIYSEMI Your welcome
Waiting for the next segment
I have a 2019 trailer that the shippers and receivers don't care about my inside looks like a nuclear bomb hit it
Reefers need food grade
Thanks for the info
Can you haul freight that pays more than $1 a mile in a Hirschbach trailer?
Can get as much as $1.25
Thanks for your help.
What is the difference between total switch on hours and total engine hours?
switch on is all hours, includes when in start stop but not running. engine hours is only when it is running
@@DIYSEMI thank you so much
I stumbled across your channel/video and found very informative. I am in the process of wanting to buy a tanker trailer. Do you have any experience in that, so when I start looking to buy I know what to look for? I am new in this, but wanting to own a trailer and rent it to an owner operator.
Ive never owned a tanker, but underside woold be the same as any other
Is it a good idea to have a reefer trailer to haul dry and refrigerated with it, or would it be a problem?
Not a problem for most loads, some dry loads won't load in a reefer
What reefer floor do you suggest ?
Flat or grooved floor ?
depends what you are going to haul with it
How old should a trailer be in order for u to say that’s a no go ? I’m looking at a trailer that’s is 2013 but has a carrier’s unit of 2020 do you think I will have problems booking loads ? It’s a great trailer in good shape
some customers are more picky than others. 10 years old is a general rule of thumb. But plenty of guys run trailers older than that with no problems. Check with the people you haul for the most
@@DIYSEMI ok sounds good man appreciate the info … trailers are real expensive
How much are the 2015 utility carrier 7300x4 running for over there?? With approximately how many hours?
Really hard to find here in texas
About 30k
Cheaper than here then
I’m renting a reefer, it’s a 7300 carrier, I was trying to see if I could get it to -10, so I set it for -15 and drove about 2 1/2 hours away and it only got to -5, I couldn’t wait longer I had to go but doesn’t that seem like a long time to only have got to -5? Think it was around 80 degrees outside. I thought I seen one of your videos where you mention it took 20-30 minutes to get to 0
that is a long time. Is the trailer old with poor insulation? Is it possible while you were driving it actually did go to -10 and you jus didn't know? then defrosted and had to cool down again? or -5 is within the 5 degree variance and it was just modulating -5 to -10? will have to watch a fewd different things over time to find out
@@DIYSEMI 2015 mfg date, the trailer looks really good, but I can see where they have repaired things inside the trailer, damage from forklift coming in and out. I”ll run it again and check it every 30 minutes
@@DIYSEMI is modulating when the engine slows down and seems to creep up to the setpoint? I noticed that trying to get to 26, 10 degrees from 26, the engine slowed down and took its time
Someone may have programed it to do that. some companies change the settings.
Is a 04 with 25k hours any good?
Do professional trailers inspectors for-hire exist ?
You can hire a local mechanic over the phone to go check it out
You left me 😭
Nah.... We solid man
