wow, NOT A SINGLE BIDDER on midori days? that's the best feeling!! it looks nicer than some recently-released stuff that i've gotten LOL
i'm so glad you're able to pick up older stuff you've wanted for a while. that's so rewarding!! omg and seeing you describe kaiju without remembering the word was so funny lolol
OMG BACCANO!! wow, patience really does pay off!! so glad you were able to find this at a decent price!!

I know right? Sometimes the right people just don't see a listing, I honestly bid on a whim and didn't expect to win XD
OH tell me about it, nothing hurts more than getting a new bluray or book and it comes in with some sort of damage, it's heartbreak...
I couldn't remember kaiju! I'm editing myself going "oh you dummy" LOL how does it always happen when I'm recording XD
Baccano is so good! Years of waiting and looking and I can finally cross it off my list yay~ Had a good time rewatching too~

OMG Midori Days is so fun! I love that show.
Wow, I've never heard of Neo Ranga! Those spicy covers, oh my.
I still need to watch Abenobashi, I have the Sentai set. I love that boxset, though! Those magazines are so funny and perfect, I'm surprised they went out of their way to make those.
In the baccano set, there's an ad for Nerima Daikon Brothers. That's one of my favorite comedy anime, highly recommend it.
91 DAYSSSSSSSS! NOT 19 DAYYYYYYYYS YOU UNCULTURED SWINE!

Neo Ranga did come out in the late 90s after the popularity boom of Evangelion so it makes sense that it tries to be somewhat similar in its presentation style. I'm definitely curious about the series and I wonder what the story is gonna do since it has 48 episodes wow.
The late 90s and early to mid 2000s were such a good time for original anime productions, there was so much experimentation and it lead to all sorts of fantastic weirdness. Nowadays it's a shame that we barely get any original anime in general and most of them play it very safe or they just don't stand out at all and are immediately forgotten.
Baccano! is such a banger! Yup 91 Days gives off very similar vibes. Ah man now that you mentioned Darker than Black I do kinda want to watch it again, I think in the US it had a weird cardboard sleeve release as a collector edition or something like that. Anyway, back to Baccano, it's awesome that you managed to get your hands on the show after all this time, it's weird that such a beloved classic is so hard to get xD.

I love Midori Days so much, it was one of my first 4 ever Anime. I actually gave it a rewatch a few months ago and it still holds up as very enjoyable. I did have the manga complete once but I sold it to raise money and damn do I regret that. Media Blasters none card artboxes are sublime and almost always in great condition. I also used to have this show in the artbox and just like the manga I regret selling it, maybe one day I will rectify these mistakes.
Neo Ranga was on my to watch list for years and years. I did finally see it a couple of years ago and absolutely loved it. It feels so different and yeah it definitely fits into the kaiju mold. I just love how it tells the story with the mix of narration and just straight up action drama. I totally get what you mean by the animation! I absolutely love that sun drenched, kinda washed out kinda not style (probs in part due to the video mastering of the period) of late 90s cel animation, I can't get enough of it. Also the shorter episodes really keep the series ticking along nicely. I feel like there are are number of shows that came out in that post Eva, Bebop and Berserk time period that are so overlooked in western anime fandom and Neo Ranga is certainly one of them.
It's been years since I last saw Abenobashi but I won't hesitate to call it a favourite. Even before I knew about most of what this show parodies it managed to make me laugh. I think it was the first absurd gag anime comedy I ever watched. I love the dub for this show with the 'southern' accents lol. I used to own the artbox but it was another I moved on BUT I sneakily kept the inserts to put in the complete collection set I have because as you say they are so amazing. A thing of beauty from a bygone era of anime home video, I totally sympathize with you collecting these classic releases. Making me yearn for some of my old sets lol.
$40 is never not a great deal for Baccano and in such nice condition. Congrats on tracking down such a holy grail! Now this is an Artbox that I actually do still own (hurrah!) though not in quite as nice condition. Love this show, I mean who doesn't? This show will forever live in my mind because of the endless drowning thing, so messed up. Ah the good old days of when Aniplex shows were affordable :(
    Great Haul Val!!

It's cool that Midori Days was one of your first anime, I'm happy to hear it opened up a world of anime for you ^^ And now look at your collection! I die laughing every time at the scene where she is cleaning the apartment and his body is just being dragged along, like face down on the floor LOL so weird but so good at the same time.
Sun drenched YES that's the best way to describe the color palette in Neo Ranga, it's very cool. I'm instantly taken in by it's atmosphere, and I feel like I didn't explain it well. It's amazing to edit your own video and watch yourself go brain dead in the middle of a thought XD You're so right, so many shows were overlooked in the 2000s, and I want to find some more in the future ^^ I'll talk about Neo Ranga again in the future for sure.
Abenobashi is another one I know I could've explained better LOL but I'm glad you and a good number of other people know it! I haven't seen it in years as well, but certain scenes really stick out in my brain somehow. I like the opening as well. I love the extras and all the art these older boxsets had, I'm always delighted seeing all the inserts and extra design. What a crazy show, I wouldn't be surprised if someone picks it up for a blu ray release, because it feels like it's been a while haha
I def rewatched way more of Baccano than I expected when it came in, it's so good, love that style! YES the endless drowning was just so messed up, it keeps coming up in my thoughts whenever messed up 'punishments' in anime. This one and persona 4 have been on my "to own list" for a long time, got lucky with Baccano, missed persona 4 a lot now Ahahaha. Aniplex stuff, man it's tough. Happy you still have yours Blaize!
Thanks again for the comment! I still have a stack of DVDs to talk about (how did that happen) so that will happen next XD

OH you have the thin pack set, thats cool, I haven't seen that around for a while (not that I was looking too hard ahaha) Yeah that show is crazy, happy to have it, for when I want to pop in something a little nutty. I haven't seen it in years as well!

I remember seeing a UA-cam video about Midori Days years ago and always meant to check it out but never did and completely forgot about it until now. Neo Ranga I have never heard of but has peaked my interest now. Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi is another classic I've wanted to watch as well, right up my ally and love that the girl is in Cardcaptor Sakura cosplay on disc 3 as well as the Chairzard costume. Baccano! is also another series I need to watch still as well (to much anime to watch XD) but I actually own that one so I have no excuse really despite owning it for so long. Another great haul as always and got some new old shows to check out now as well.

I just realized I presented 4 really different shows, but I'm happy they are all interesting to you ^^ Each of these really represent what I talked about for each. Abenobashi is super Gag anime (crazy and fun), Neo Ranga is that 90s anime/kaiju feel, and Midori Days is an odd and fun romance~
Baccano is dark and fascinating, and it's helped with dashes of humor and really good character acting. It's great that you own it, as I haven't even checked to see if it's still up anywhere and I should've. It's worth a watch when you're in the mood for something like that! One of my favs : )

Wow Baccano! I loved that series. Such a hard series to find these days sense it's so rare. Baccano has one of my favorite dubs. I'm gonna have to checkout Midori Days. It sounds so bizarre and funny lol. Neo Ranga covers look beautiful. I never heard of this anime.
Such great haul! Always cool to see anime dvd boxsets getting some love again.

Baccano! is so great, grusome truly but such a good watch ^^ I was listening to the dub as I was going through my discs and it really is a good dub, drew me in while I was just disc testing XD
Neo ranga is neat, I like it even more than when I bought it, it has such good unsettling vibes.
An Thanks! I've really fallen in love with older sets once again lol

Love your videos so much, any advise for me in starting an anime channel

    • @valkayink
      @valkayink  2 роки тому

Thank you! I'm so happy to read that ^^
The short answer: Just start making videos! If you want to talk about anime you should : )
      Longer Answer:
Try different videos and see what makes you happy: essay, haul, review, whatever you want. The most important part are the videos themselves.
Don't worry about trying to sound like someone else, because no matter how you are on or behind camera, the audience will show up for you. Don't stress about keeping a schedule, that just makes things less fun in the end.
Technical things: Have a camera or phone you are comfortable with using. The same thing for a video editor. Anything from windows movie maker to Adobe to Final Cut Pro, whatever you want to use. UA-cam is full of video editor tutorials if anything seems daunting or confusing.
If you like my set up, please feel free to use the same kind of set up for your videos : )
I have no advice for getting 'big' on youtube, because that was never my goal. I just like having this hobby.
I'll watch if you start a channel, have fun ^^
