So you have to use your arms and shoulders also to get you up the rope. My son has bad shoulders and had a ligament or tendon broke in his arm years ago. He says you don't use your arms that you use your legs to do the ropes.

Step on your toes. that's how you can ease off needing arms& shoulder muscles, it's pushing that rope under your foot so it is gripped by the pressure of one foot onto the other foots toes...least thats what I've found...Me, female avg muscles mass, not much upper body strength..so using the step on toes technique, is only way it's possible without having to really use your arms shoulders.
