- Labour Party Deputy Leader Angela Rayner has accused the Conservatives of "forcing working people to carry the can for the energy crisis".
Opening the party's annual conference in Liverpool, she asked Prime Minister Liz Truss: "Whose side are you on?"
She continued: "When you boost bankers' bonuses but force working people to carry the can for the energy crisis, whose side are you on?
"Using a pandemic to pile billions into the bank accounts of cronies while nurses wore bin bags. Whose side are you on?
"When you say the working people of this country need more graft then deprive them of fair pay. Whose side are you on?"

That speech sounded like something from trainspotting. I respect rayner she is one of the very few politicians that actually comes from a working class background. I am hopeful for labour's bold plan, it's 100 fold better than what the conservatives failure of a plan announcement. We have no trust in truss

The right wing media would throw every hurdle in her way. They could start with a label as meaningless as "Red Rayner", but very quickly, that could become a board on which they'll be throwing all sorts of poo in the hope that some might stick. Just take a look back at what they did to Corbyn. She might even be labelled as "anti-Semitic". Seems to work every time. So, for now, it's best to let her play her part from behind the curtain, for now.
If as in her speech she means `enough is enough´ then she and the Labour party need to demonstrate this by joining the picket lines and showing their moral solidarity with the protesting workers.
That is, in my opinion, an entirely inappropriate thing for a politician to do. Politicians are supposed to gather their constituents views and conduct the business of the nation, not join in with unions’ pay disputes.

Your concept of fair minded politics and `conducting the business of the nation´ has ceased to exist. As the British economy continues in its rapid decline the Conservative Party will be offering more corporate tax incentives. Britain will become an offshore tax haven, a money laundry. I further anticipate that a scenario reminiscent of the Poll Tax protests are not far away ...............
