Macron, Leadership? That's why He's losing big time in France. Protests all across Europe. He even went to Algeria asking for help regarding energy, he literally got kicked out, had to be ushered to a car.

it's actually baffling to me that we have a pm like Lizz Truss. For instance, while Rishi Sunak was a no better candidate, he made sense as a politician: good with his words and image - i.e., a true sophist of British politics. But Truss just has zero finesse, so one would think it impossible for her to really have done so well.

I've always thought of Liz Truss as being a very able *shop assistant,* or possibly a *Kindergarten teacher.* But as the Prime Minister? I honestly thought we couldn't sink any lower than Boris Johnson, but somehow, with Truss at the helm, we have.

Her plan to kick start the economy by giving tax breaks isn't going to work. Most people are going to hold on to whatever money they gain from tax breaks to pay for energy costs, food, petrol etc. The only people who are going to benefit from her strategy are large companies and rich individuals. You know, the kind of people who support the Conservative Party by regularly donating to party funds.
She gave a reverse windfall tax i.e. the companies got the windfall.
Change requires action; action requires courage. Sadly, the last dozen years suggests we Brits are a nation of cowards.

As Sterling falls making essentials yet more expensive and interest rates rise, the winners are the top 3%, as so well identified in the FT article on UK and US income distribution last weekend.
Exactly. This announcement of unfounded borrowing does nothing to help the value of the pound at a time with near 10% inflation. People will lose far more from the tax rises there will inevitably have to be to pay the exploding government debt payments than they will ever gain through the tax cut.

It's a bit much to expect Truss to have an opinion on Macron. He's only been president of France since 2017. And Truss would have been far too busy as secretary of state for trade and secretary of state for foreign affairs to pay attention to the president of France.
Lix Truss would naturally have the build of Alicia Kearns ( 2:10 ) but she's been starving herself for 20 years and it has eaten her brain.
When you watch this video you can only be impressed with the front bench of the Labour Party, OK I personally would have preferred Jeremy Corbyn as leader (apart from his Brexit position) but I think Starmer has surrounded himself with a bloody good team, Cooper, Lamy, Phillips, Rayner and Starmer himself are all far superior to their Tory counterparts. 👍
