- What do you do when you have too much cam? Put a smaller cam in the engine of course! Josh and I are pulling the fully built 5.0 out of his Fox Body to move from the Trick Flow Track MAX to the Comp Cams Xtreme Energy. That should return some of the street driveability and help the Holley Sniper EFI adjust fueling correctly. Once it's out we tear down the engine and get ready to reassemble it.

Love watching every video man. Life changing motivation thanks. I had a car accident almost a year ago now. Totalled my Yukon Denali and shattered my left leg ( now I have big metal plate in my leg ). I lost everything job, home, and broken leg. Feels like I dieing to STRUGGLE to live sometimes. But luckly in last month I'm starting to put my leg down and trying to walk again. With your motivation and all those other motivational UA-camRS. Starting to and building my life goals again. To have a better life for my 2 kids. Thanks for the life motivation.

Can't go wrong with an LX fox. The 5.0 is one of the best sounding engines to ever come out of Detroit.

Man I have had 5 or 6 of those over the years. Legendary design. All he needs is a remote vacuum canister and he would have plenty of reserve vacuum. We had to do it on my 95 GT. Had a big ole lumpy cam in it.
Whoever built that motor didn't spare any expense. It was built right with the right parts.
I bought my 1992 Mustang GT back in 1997 and I still have it. Wild Strawberry Metallic/Gray two-tone. Titanium interior.
I love those old fox body's. I should have picked one up before the price started to go up.

Nice to watch a couple of buddies working on the ole 5.0 (I'm giving my age away,lol, we never called them Foxbodies back in the day) i gotta pull mine out of my 91 Vert,gonna install a new engine but gonna do it in spring,too damn hot right now,these are great cars, good looking, fun and fast (maybe not by today standards) but fast enough for me, win win.

The holley sniper is going to work 10000x better with his new cam. I had to ditch my radical cam in my Chevelle when i switched to sniper efi, totally worth it, car was practically undriveable before
It was struggling hard, idle was set to 1300 or 1500 😂
@@WatchJRGo LOL yeah sounds about right. Out of all of the throttle body efi's that I've installed for friends and myself, you can't beat the holley sniper. It's definitely my favorite for sure

When I was 20 I built an ‘81 Mustang for drag racing, wasn’t this extreme but I did have a big cam in it and I ran an auto, it used to want to die leaving lights unless you just got on it, that normally resulted in the back tires lighting up lol! I ran that car at the track for a full season plus daily drove it everywhere, gutted interior and all, such a fun time! That one is long now, hit in ‘08 by a drunk while it was parked, I still have the engine though, had it in an ‘87 for a few years but now it’s slated for an ‘88 Nissan hardbody.
That whole car is what I wanted throughout the 90's and into the 2000's.

wish is still had my 86 with 29k miles was the quad headlight 302 carb with a 4 speed had a problem with the 4 speeds locking me out of gears it done it with the stock and 2 new trans so i sold it

It's crazy how fast you can pull an engine lot of people complain like ughh it's taking me forever but you get it done in like a few hours like my old instructor would say a car is just nuts and bolts. Literally you guys can have a car fully built in a week if it was a fixer upper from dirt I hope to get that good one of these days

I'm on my 2nd Mustang. I had a white 89 Gt convertible (the vanilla ice jokes got old) Now I have a 94 GT 5.0 convertible I'm working on. It has Heddman long tube headers, aluminum radiator and electric fans, X pipe and dual flowmaster 40s, eibach drop springs,17 inch Cobra wheels and a cowl induction hood. Neat car but needs a ton of work still.

Some of the older Motor builders use to mess with the younger guys by putting a steel shot in the pan after they built them ! Lol. The young guys would find it and totally rebuild the engine and the older guys would sit and laugh !

the crank number sounds like a Scat but wasn't the X302 a crate engine offered a few years back?
The font is Scat but all of the scat cranks start with F302 and this one starts with X302. And yes that was a Ford Racing part number used on the highest performing sbf parts. X heads, X cam.

I was hoping that you were going to replace that engine with one of those new Mustang motors that Ford announced a couple of days ago.
Ring test pour some kerosene or degreaser into the bore with the piston at about middle stroke and time how long it takes to leak out. Do the same for every cylinder with the same amount of liquid about a cup worth.
A cylinder with busted rings will leak down faster than the others.

ZOMG ! Those fenders ! For all that is holy, put some thick moving blankets on top of them. Trust me, look at any Fox that has had motor swaps, that didnt do this, and you see all the micro fine dents and dips from elbows and forearms. Trust me. Even fender covers dont prevent it. Hope you are not too late.

I assume any jack I buy is now made in China. So with that in mind I red loctite every bolt and screw on the damn things. Still after a while they will still back out.

@@WatchJRGo Think you're right. By searching for just the 302-3400-5400, it comes back to a similar SCAT number that has a 3.4" stroke.
From playing with the SCAT site, I would guess that the X designates that it was probably a custom order.
