  • Welcome to part two of my sewing summer/spring makes from the month of April and May 2024! I’m a few days late in posting, but I am so excited to share with you the final outcomes from New Look 6678 lightweight denim cropped jeans, New Look 6693 Summer Dress Yellow and White Gingham dress, New Look 6741 Pencil Skirt, Simplicity 9857 Knit Loungewear set, and McCalls 8211 Summer dress pattern that I was able to use for the first time (for several of the projects at least).
    I’ll be sharing with you dresses I recently sewed up, providing pattern reviews, and sharing a pants pattern that is very sewing-beginner friendly, as well as a loungewear set that I have fallen in love with. Looking forward to sewing up more clothing and continuing to create a fun wardrobe for summertime with cute dresses that are lightweight, fun shorts, and flowy tops. Have you been sewing up anything fun? Always happy to hear your thoughts on new patterns and what you are sewing up for your own wardrobe! Happy sewing, and happy creating to you!

    I love to see the finished garment! And especially modeled because that’s the real story. I absolutely love the first dress so much.

    I loved how you added elastic for the stretched neckline. No one can ever guess. I learnt that stay stitching helps. Also attach the bias tape first by hand with just a quick running stitch. Also love your skirt

    I’m so impressed with how you problem solve! And sometimes even when you’ve already successfully made up a pattern, different fabrics behave differently so those problem solving skills come in handy! I’ve done the same thing as you - putting elastic in the back waistline seam under the facing. I love your border print dress! Great video! Thanks!

      @dineincreativity  Місяць тому

      Thank you so much! And, exactly! Sometimes adding little tweaks in the form of elastic to different fabrics based on how they behave helps tremendously. Love how you put that. Thank you so much for being here and happy sewing!😊🧵🪡

    Those are all such lovely makes and they seem to suit you so well! Don't be too hard on yourself for your perceived mistakes. Everyone, even most experienced sewists, will make and have made mistakes. It's how we learn new things in sewing often, and it looks to me like you saved every one of the makes! I think as long as we don't get too hung up on making it exactly perfectly completely like the package tell us to and we are willing to improvise if we need to, we enjoy our creations a lot more!

    • @dineincreativity
      @dineincreativity  Місяць тому

      Wise words! Could not agree more--the mistakes have definitely taught me to think outside of the box and even cater a project more to my liking (in some cases hehe). Thanks for your kind words and happy happy sewing + creating to you!

    9857 is a hot off the press & hot among sewists , even though I'm not much of a pants wearer , maybe I need to try that pattern ❤️

      If you enjoy a comfy loungewear set, then absolutely!! It is a great pattern to work with. I may even make a shorts set with this pattern : ) Happy sewing!

    Good job on your sewing Rachel Ann! I especially loved the pencil skirt. The style and fabric are just perfect for you! And it's reassuring to me to see that other sewists have to adjust things like adding elastic and doing other improvising to make it work!

    • @dineincreativity
      @dineincreativity  Місяць тому +1

      Thank you so much and absolutely! Glad to know that I am not the only one who has to do these tiny tweaks to get the exact right fit. Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful comment! Happy sewing! 😃🧵🪡

    Thanks for the up date on that New Look 6741 , I have that beautiful pattern as well & I was wondering how it would look & come out made up , I ❤️ it , also I ❤️ your very beautiful skirt you made from it 😊👍🏾

      Oh, thank you! It's such a cute pattern and I love the slit on the front. Gives it some variety and makes it a bit different than a standard pencil skirt. Highly recommend the pattern! : )

    Beautiful makes and I really love the yellow dress honestly if you didn’t point out the elastic along the neckline as your remedial for the gaping neckline I thought it’s really part of the design. My sewing tip regarding the neckline to prevent it from stretching out you can do a stay stitch along the neckline.

    • @dineincreativity
      @dineincreativity  Місяць тому

      Thank you so much! I’m glad that it blends in and I definitely will have to try the stay stitching to help with the gaping bias tape next time 😅🧵🪡 happy sewing!

    I love your inspiring channel! I get so many pattern ideas and beginner encouragement from watching.
    Can I throw a question out there for anyone who can answer?
    Sewed up McCall’s 8482. Lovely.
    The (easy) skirt has several pattern pieces; I’m using solid color linen. I did fine EXCEPT when I go to sew together the 2 FINAL front and back skirt panels, the back panel seams were the complete reverse despite me thinking I checked it over and over before continuing.
    It’s asymmetrical so the long/short weren’t matching AND my seams were all reversed????opposites-like mirror image!
    To fix, I need to seam rip and reverse all seams😂
    Anyway. Is this a front/back fabric confusion on my part? It’s hard to keep track which side is which on solid linen. Or is this a pattern READING mistake? How can I prevent this silly mistake? What am I doing wrong😢
    I hope this made sense. THANK YOU for reading if you got this far. Much love to all.

      Thank you so much for being here and for your kind words! I haven’t worked with that pattern, but I did look it up. Super cute! Because I have not worked with this pattern, I can’t really comment on where things may have gone awry, but I’ll give you validation that it happens to all of us, self included! Just the other day, I had to almost completely take a dress apart because the back was ill fitting and the zipper was rippled/bulging out giving me a hump on on my back. 😭 Then I had to rip the zipper out and re-insert!
      I know I’m not commenting on your sewing pattern specifically but Hope this helps and hope your final project turns out super cute! 🌷🌷
