AirPods Max should be compared to B&O or Bowers and Wilkins not, Bose and Sony. Personally, I don’t believe Apple is trying to compete with any headphone maker. These were intended for people in the Apple eco system. I love my AirPods Max so my Sony and Bose sit now. The price is relative. If one has the disposable cash they are worth it.
I own all the usual culprits. The Max cans beat them all, especially with the soundstage they create. With regards build quality, it’s not even a contest. The Max beat everything. They’re expensive, but from where I sit, in everything I look for in a set, they’re the best in each category.
Great review, I just focused on your verdict section cos I'm in a rush but i think you nailed it. Audio, build and everything else in you are in Apple's ecosystem is fantastic. The main drawback for me is the price point.
Would you buy the AirPods Max or any pair of wireless noise cancelling headphones over $300? Do you think that there are other options at the same price point as the AirPods Max? Let me know your thoughts below.
No, but I usually just leave them on a headphone hook under my desk. I’ve actually bumped them a couple of times just carrying them to the bedroom and still have no scratches or dings on them.
@@Tfrank22 I don’t think they will ever go to 399 but I got mine for 429 at Amazon and the price went up again so thankfully I made up my mind to get them at 429
Hi Jamil, Thanks for the review. I enjoyed it. Regarding sound quality, however, you said they sound great with lossless audio using Apple Music and Tidal. It’s my understanding that the benefit of lossless audio can only be achieved using wired headphones. Please explain. Thanks.
Hey Joseph, thanks for the kind words! Yes, Lossless Audio was only testable via 3.5 to lightning when connected to my 2020 M1 MacBook Pro. Only Dolby Atmos was testable with a wireless connection within Apple Music and Tidal.
Turn on spatial audio on that will give you better sound and bass. I use Spotify they have a EQ and my AirPods Max sound great. You can actually adjust the sound on the AirPods Max in settings under accessibility. Look for sound options. It’s not a EQ but you can some what change the sound signature. I love my AirPods Max
Apple really hit it out of the park with the OG HomePod and AirPods Max. They’re both phenomenal.

Yes totally agree. My sennheiser’s are sitting right now as well. Price is subjective.
Got them for $380 open box. Not too bad.
Very nice!

Max for sure. I own xm3 and max and 1am2 and fidelio x2. Max are by far the best every category
Do you absolutely NEED a hard cover case? From your experience of long term use?
No, but I usually just leave them on a headphone hook under my desk. I’ve actually bumped them a couple of times just carrying them to the bedroom and still have no scratches or dings on them.
Mannnn after this, I might need to try them out myself
Ya, they are great if you are a user in the Apple Ecosystem.
Nice review. Was considering picking them up, but that price tag is still too high imo.
Ah ya, I thought they had a lower price drop than what are currently listed at. They do go on sale for a lower price, but I guess that ended recently.
@@thejamiltdavis they are on sale for $499. I’ll try them out when they drop to $399 lol.
Ya, for sure. I'm very curious to see if Apple tries to drop the price when the next gen version gets released.

Great review but APMs do not do lossless music unfortunately, spatial audio is superb and the best headphones for the experience.

Thanks Jamil. Your reply regarding lossless makes total sense to me. Keep up the good work. I just subscribed. Joe
Thanks Joseph. Glad I could give more information on my experience and I really appreciate the support. Thanks for subscribing!
Great review. Just picked up a pair. Very helpful.
Thanks Isaac! That’s great to hear!
great review !
Hey, thanks Travis!
Only down side for me on the Max is it needs a better EQ and more bass.

Go to settings, accessibilities, audio and visuals and turn on Headphone Accommodations and select your choices
