Bose added custom eq on 2-15-22 with the last update. Only thing that they need to add is anc options other than aware and anc.
If you want something new try the Bose 700 the qc series has a set of features that is loved by a lot of people so they don’t mess with it to much.

I have the same good experience with working from home and listening to music as you mention. These headphones just got better now they have an equalizer in latest update too.
Sony ambient sound so bad I can’t even use it. QC45 I find much more clear
I am glad to go back to buttons. I missed them. And if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
