That reminds of when I snapped a driveshaft....It was a 1425cc engine in an 82 mini,so close to home I took a right,no drive..After pushing her over the junction I flipped the front and like a chimp in 2001 held up a driveshaft 😫👍😎😁

Great video. The Cooper S output shown is from a Limited Slip Differential not a standard production car. You can remove a production Cooper S Hardy Spicer output flange without removing the side cover from the differential housing.

Hi Paul, you mentioned the Cooper S and rubber type couplings have a brass bushing. Does the pot joint type have the same bushing? Thanks

Very useful information. Which type of seal do you recommend for the clutch oil seal? There seem to be many available

Thanks gland you enjoyed the video. Generally the best seal for the Clutch side is 13H2934 which is the OE seal up to 1992 but is the one I would use on everything other than an all out race motor. For that I would use the Minispares competition seal 👍👍

Thanks, I struggled like,e f$%# to get the pot off mine, used a couple of large screw drivers. So easy when you know. Just one thing, how thick does the tool need to be? Looks to be somewhere between 5 and 10mm.

Hay 10mm works best but you can use 8mm

Hi, Paul great video.. Ive acquired a set of cooper s swivel hubs, drive shafts, hardy spicer's etc, my only problem is I'm missing the output shafts.. My car is currently on 12''' wheels withe 8..4'''' discs, although its a 71 clubman, so I want to put it back on 10''' wheels using the cooper s drive shafts, but I need to source the output shafts,, are there any pitfalls I need to be aware of ? . Any advice would be much appreciated..Thanks

Hi Gerald there is a few companys making output conversions for your setup. they are all made out of house by gear train specialists and from my experience they are all fairly good. hope your mini project is going well kind regards

Hi Paul, I have evidence of a small oil leak on the bottom nearside of the engine. The engine build is about 3 yrs old. I can't pinpoint where exactly it is coming from. If it was the pot joint oil seal on the diff cover would the oil tend to be sprayed everywhere during the rotation of the driveshaft? If it's behind the timing chain or half moon seal, it's a nightmare to fix in the car.

Hi Andy, It dosent always spray around some times it just appers as a constant drip when the car is in motion. If its the moon seal or timing cover oil seal it will only leak when the engine is running and for a short time afterwards. if its drive shaft oil seal it can leak all the time depending on the oil level.

@@HREIRL If I clean it all down and run it in the garage should I see the leak if it's from the engine?
I can see oil on the sump guard.
It is a new pot joint on that side, could I check if there is play with the brass bush? Do these diff covers still need reemed if a new one is purchased?

I've seen other videos of doing the Mini gear selector oil seal...looked quite different from what you showed. Had a metal ring with an o-ring fitted in a groove. Here's an example: ua-cam.com/video/kskqxU3eVTs/v-deo.html

Hi friend, the metal ring you are referring to is a modification some people fit behind the selector oil seal you see me fitting. It is believed to “help” the oil seal last longer. In my experience it has been of little benefit so I just use a good quality seal fitted correctly 👍
